This is a great little park and zoo. Its been a few years since Ive been and theyve added several really nice exhibits and have updated the train. A fun way to spend an afternoon.

Theres a nice loop that goes around the lake, a 1.1 mile walk. I didnt get the chance to visit the zoo, but I did ride the train. Well worth the $2.00. The trail goes into a dense forest region thats like walking in a jungle. I recommend bringing water with you and enjoying the lake when its cool, if possible. Very much a nice place to relax for a bit. The only downside is that I could see parking being an issue if a lot of people visited at once.

Beautiful walking paths with shade and bench seats. Best nature walk I know of in lufkin...for now. The train rides are fun for the little kids (4 and under FREE) otherwise $2. Two play structures near the parking area.

Great small zoo and not too crowded. They also have a small train that you could ride around the outside of the zoo at a very small price. Also beautiful scenery

This park is right by the zoo parking. So even if you dont go to the zoo you can still go to the park. We ate here after the zoo and had a nice picnic lunch at some of their tables all covered. There were mens and womens restrooms nearby and water fountains as well. Now it is by the lake and one would go swimming. However they do advise not to, do to the alligators. We did not see any but it was well marked and we didnt take any chances. The highlight here though is a little train that starts in the parking lot goes around the zoo and across the lake and back. It is separate from the zoo and cost 2 dollars per person and 3 dollars for a whistle, all of this sponsored by the loins club. Overall I think it was the best thing to end our trip and my family loved it.

This park has a trail that goes through the woods and over the Angelina river. Its a beautiful place, and a great (and free) place to walk for exercise. Watch out for snakes and alligators.

This is a pretty little park with a big duck pond. Lots of herons and ducks and some alligators. There is a very pretty mulch trail around the back side of the park, about 1 mile.

The park was lovely setting against the lake. The train ride was inexpensive and a fun little thing to enjoy while there. We loved the park and zoo when we visited on our recent vacation. Lufkin is a lovely town.

Go there once a week in good weather, Im giving 4 stars because one corner of the lake has debris, and sometimes there seems to be a lot of green algae on the lake, theres a new floating platform you can walk out on and a one mile jogging trail. Beware, it seems you have to come from the east to access the lake and zoo entrance from ellen trout dr.
