A PERFECT place to take the family, or even just walk/explore for the day.(Or even a little date or picnic!)Entry is only $5 and lasts all day.Children under 5 yrs are free. They tell you all about the castle and really just let you explore at your own pace and leisure.Yes, while in the castle you must wear masks (except to take QUICK photos of course ) but while youre outside, it is not enforced. If youre looking to see lots of flowers, wait till spring or summer!Yes, youll be surrounded by quite a few other people who are doing their exploring too.No, they dont offer tourist like trips with groups of 4 or that sort of thing.Yes, there are stickers and other little things to buy inside to remind you of your visit! Uhmm, nothing crazy like a specfic gift shop though.Overall?A wonderful place to explore and learn about some of Old Lovelands history.Fun Fact: The WHOLE castle was built by hand!!
The castle looked good however the admission price of $15 a person is ridiculous. The walk through the castle took maybe 15 to 20 minutes. after that there isnt much to do unless you want to watch a 20 minute history video or buy souvenirs. Theres no food or drinks to buy. Definitely dont recommend. This should be free.
Absolutely beautiful place, and a great story behind it. It was impressive to know how Mr. Andrews built this amazing place by himself. Nice and friendly staff very helpful. Make sure to visit beautiful area outside by Miami river. Also great place for engagement or seasonal photoshoot specially in fall.
This is a great historical place. If you are crazy about castle please go over there. This castle is made by a SINGLE man named Harry D Andrews. He start to build at 1920. Staff over there are very friendly and helpful. Lots of staff do volunteer work. Entrance is i on not $5. Go and enjoy your day with your love one. Side of the castle there is also a small river called Miami River. There is a mobile restroom. You can see in the picture I have uploaded.
The staff was lovely. We took my brother and his family here when they came from out of town. They answered questions made suggestions and was just down right entertaining with all the info. Great visit they loved it! Made our area look good
Find the small town of Loveland with the castle as a claim to fame. One man’s dream and a knighthood of devoted followers keep the dream alive. Five dollar charge to get in. Knights inside help narrate the history. Walk around on your own as well. One interesting thing after another. Hard to believe one man did this whole thing. Definitely worth a side trip.
I enjoy visiting the Loveland Castle. Been there 4 or 5 times now. Its been at least 20 years since my last visit.
Well worth the trip. Entertaining, educational and beautiful. The Knights of the Golden Trail were excellent hosts. Takes about an hour to go through.
Beautiful place and amazing story. It is a lot of determination to spend 50 years to build your own castle. Must to see.
Fascinating! Surprisingly a lot to see! Very very interesting history story by one of the knights. Great Sunday afternoon trip!
Great place for the entire family young and old. There is a great story behind this castle and the man that built it. I would recommend the trip to anyone
Very cool day trip today to visit the Loveland Castle for the first time. While there, we were talking about returning for another visit to bring others. I have visited Ireland and Scotland and toured a few castles. This seemed to transport me back to those visits. Very sweet history behind the decision to build the castle. The staff, two older guys, one taking the $5 entry fee and one telling the history were welcoming and very knowledgeable.
This is a place you just have to see. For a man to realize his dream through his own hard work is amazing. Its a really great story. Take the time to watch the video and walk the grounds. I remember my parents taking me when I was a kid, now I take my own. He loves it.
I enjoyed this place a lot! $5 for entry fee. We went in the winter- so there were very few people touring the castle as well. There was a lot to see and learn all because of one man who had built it. We maybe spent about two or so hours here looking at everything. You can still roam the gardens in the winter, but I think it’d be much prettier if flowers and trees were in bloom. However, the stonework throughout the gardens and the castle is amazing! It is true that there are some areas blocked off, but areas are still viewable through windows or gates. There is lots to look at and interact with. Random small details here and there too! Also, if you enjoy artwork- there are some great pieces here too.It was beautiful stop, and I highly recommend it!
Beautiful place. Historical Castle.
Very interesting point of interest. The hand built castle is a must see. Its conveniently located near the river and bike paths
I really enjoyed seeing this castle. It was so nice to walk the grounds and listen to the story of how the castle was made. I got some great pictures and had a lot of fun.
Its hard to explain why I only gave three stars. There was very little information throughout the castle. Just photos of people without captions and two men (one at the parking lot, very nice) (and one in what I think is a gift shop) there if you have questions. There is a room in which a video plays but it was occupied when I got there. Its a nice little castle. Just not what you would think.
Loveland Castle Museum will have Wine Tasting tonight at 6:30pm. Watch out for their music events for nostalgic evenings. The Castle will be lighted up so imagine how romantic it would be to spend a date night.
Nice to learn about history of the castle in area that we live in
So cool. Im from Europe ( Czech republic) and I used to see big castles from 14-18 century. But my daughter (10 years old ) loved it
This was a really cool stop to make!! Great price to go tour around, was only 5 bucks per person. The whole history of this place blew my mind. Come check out this great little castle and make sure ya watch the video too! Ive never been interested in watching stuff like that and I just could not walk away haha
We came to visit this beautiful castle, but sadly it was only open on Saturdays and Sundays. On Google it said that they were open all week. Were so disappointed, but Im sure that if you get the chance to go inside, its a cool place. They really need to change the hours on Google.
Unique, eccentric place to visit. Nice gardens, sword collection, and caretakers. Definitely worth visiting
I came here during the covid crisis with my man and his dog. Dogs can be outside but not inside so we took turns checking out the inside and watching his doggie. Its so cool! Very impressive castle. Plenty of people around to answer your questions. It doesnt take long to see the entire thing. We wore our masks as did those working. There is a little gift shop and great garden/grounds to walk around. Steps/stairs are slightly treacherous so, watch your stepThe restrooms are porta potties, so plan accordingly if you dont like those!
Wonderful experience and highly recommend for anyone to explore.
Very cool place, just wish I couldve gone on the roof
Amazing place to bring the family, all-around amazing place just to bring anyone you want. Great atmosphere, great people, and the guy working inside knows everything about everything about the castle and the previous owner. Please watch the entire movie, it is very insightful. Great place for the entire family.
That poor man died in his own trash fire like in the 90s. He filled half gallon paper containers one by one day by day along with rocks from the creek near by. Amazing his love for France n his determination to make something this amazing. Tiny castle. But very friendly staff that ACTUALLY KNEW HIM N WERE HIS FRIENDS .. TRULY A GEM!
The staff were very friendly. The self-guided tour was very reasonable priced. Its a neat place to visit.
Really cute and short visit with fun history and a beautiful lake behind it for a picnic. The knight that works in the shop has so much love and passion and will gladly share stories.
Just a nice little walk though with a lot to look at well worth the 5.00 we spent
Went here with my sister when she came to visit. The man at the front was super informative and told us the history behind the castle.
Interesting place to check out. Lovely view of the river and only $5 for self-guided tour.
Wonderful little museum and the backstory behind it at the very beginning is quite fascinating admission is 5 dollars per person only drawback i see from it is its not like a tour group you have the freedom to roam the grounds which might cause an issue.
This was a wonderful place to take my 3yr old for a Sunday afternoon adventure. It was our first time going. The castle was so neat, the land around it was beautiful and the staff was so extremely friendly. Also theres a river that was shallow enough to wade through and play; some people were fishing. So it was all around a super neat, family-friendly discovery.
It was kinda cool of ur into it. Best in spring when everything is blooming. All the kids tearing up everything ruined it for me.
Was awesome to walk around and read and listen too. People where very nice and had lots of information about to castle and the people who helped finish and keep it up and running. Would definitely recommend and will be going,g back! Kids loved it!
Cool little castle worth the short trip and five bucks to get in.
Beautiful place with super cool history
Very nice place to visit and adventure. I would recommend this place to everyone because there really is something for everyone. Built in 1930 or at least started because they are still going is an amazing castle where you can go almost everywhere in the castle and out. The garden is really beautiful and full of interesting finds. Down below the castle and garden is also a river where we watched some kayakers having having a picnic. Great place to bring kids in my opinion and I would definitely go again.
An eclectic gem tucked away in Loveland! Fun place to visit & explore as a quaint castle & grounds. Be sure to ask lots of questions to get the best experience! Only portions are barrier-free.
Hand built by one man from the local river below. Labor of love.
I love the history of this place! It’s amazing that a man could build a castle by hand. The scenery was very nice as were the volunteers. If you’re a history junkie like me, it’s worth the $5.
This place is so cool! Highly recommend stopping buy! Stopping to watch the provided information video, its a great way to get some additional insight into the builder. It is hard to if not impossible to navigate inside the castle if you are in a wheelchair or need assistance walking as the stairs are narrow and steep or spiraled. There is a Gaol (Jail) area with a spooky (what looks like a petrified skeleton inside) that seriously scared some little kids. Look inside yourself first before letting the littles look. It might be too much for some. The gardens are so pretty and the staff is very informative and engaging. I even spoke with someone that has lived in Loveland their whole lives, had never before visited, and after that visit was determined to make it a regular occurrence because they enjoyed it so much.
It is a very small Castle but sure worth going... We really enjoyed ourselves
Cute place! A must visit if you are in Cincinnati area.Fun scary drive down to castle, polite staff with little interaction on this Monday. Roamed their small grounds. The history was really interesting. Generally fun to walk around a true scale replica of a keep (?). Apparently there are secret doors and those stairs were rough. Food view from second view out over the grounds.
Amazing place to visit. I remember going with my grandma as a little girl. I decided Id take my children and husband and it was just as great as I remembered. A lot of history there. If youre in town, make sure you stop by. Take food to have a picnic.
A local treasure! The history behind this place is so cool. If you get the chance to visit I strongly recommend it! Makes for a great day trip to visit the castle & then explore nearby Loveland.
Me and my whole family went there very very often a few times a year actually we began going in the 70s and continue to go for years and the old man actually lived there when you walked in his bed in the fireplace rocking chair table and chairs kitchen and all that was right there and he made Turtles and castles and things out of sand and sold them my mother still has ours it is an amazing childhood memory of mine and I havent been there in some years but I plan on coming to bring my grandchildren I took my children when they were small and now that I have grandchildren I want them to have the experience but it was so amazing I love the old man to death he was an amazing person he taught me a lot about where certain rocks came from the water was right there he really taught me a lot he was a good man and as I said the memories are still amazing and Im 49 years old and Ill continue to experience it with my grandchildren & great-grandchildren also when I have great grandchildren but I recommend it to everyone it was more intimate when the old man lived there its still a beautiful and amazing place!!!!!
This place is amazing! The builder, Harry, is a true genius. We took the girl scout troop there for an overnight adventure. We were not disappointed!
**No one else seems to mention this : if you have a car with bad tires or maybe an old car/car without a lot of omph, know this before visiting. You have to go down a pretty steep hill to get to the castle.... and then you must be able to get back up it!The castle was lovely, and the staff seemed quite friendly. It was a cool experience. We took our 2 year old, and honestly thats probably not a GREAT idea (the stairs inside are steep, and made of stone, so for us it made us nervous. BUT thats not the castles fault lol and we did make do)The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because of the various ladders/pails/etc that were around the outside of the building. They werent in the guests way, but they were visual clutter and unappealing to see.Otherwise, considering it is the end of november and it was raining outside, it was as enjoyable as it could have been.I love castles. Im not really sure why. But I do, and this place makes for cool pictures as well. And for $5, its tough to beat for a neat weekend activity.
Interesting and beautiful! Kids had a good time walking around and reading. Will be better in the spring and summer, I imagine, when the gardens are in bloom. But pretty nevertheless
What an amazing stroy and a beautiful castle!
Enjoyed our visit was really hoping to see a renaissance themed gift shop...
Super neat place you would never guess was in the middle of town. The attention to detail and story behind the castle is amazing. My favorite are the dungeon in the basement and the garden. Well worth the stop if you are in the area.
Cool place with an interesting history. Not all that huge or time-consuming, but also not expensive. Definitely glad we went.
Phenomenal place to go and spend some time with the family and learn about this wonder! Soooo interesting!
PERFECT FAMILY FUN! Every dream you or the kids or grandma had as a kid. Who doesnt want to visit a castle?
Such a cool experience. Well worth the $5 price tag. Theres also a great spot for a picnic below.
Odd little roadside attraction type stop, but VERY COOL and well worth the $5 admission.
I have always loved this castle. It is beautiful the guys there are incredibly knowledgeable it is in a great area. It is also very reasonable priced. Its only $5 to tour it.
The castle and property are neat. There is a small charge for adults. If you are concerned with social distancing and COVID-19, I would not visit the castle. The interior is tight and social distancing inside is just not possible. Inside there are many pictures and other items giving some history of the castle and the construction of it. Outside has some cool gardens with a lot of potential to make the castle even more of an attraction.
Nice grounds but not sure it was really worth the $5 entrance fee
I found it to be a worthwhile and educational experience. I enjoyed viewing the gardens as well.
Drove all the way from Zanesville to visit. Loved it! Great history and the guys working there today were awesome. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Its fun to go if you have never been.
This castle was great for the kids to get out of the van and stretch their legs. We all had fun doing a self guided tour through the castle and the grounds. Unfortunately the only toilets were portable toilets at the end of the parking lot. We probably spent about an hour there.
Love this place. Cheap admission makes it affordable for the whole family.
It is a small castle built by one manA very pleasant little day trip. If you are short like I am, take a cane! It will be a big help. This is really not a place for the handicapped because the parking lot is the only accessible area for wheelchairs. And the restrooms are portapotties.
Enjoy one mans life work and passion for midevil architecture that has captured the imagine of a whole community.
Very cool experience and only 5 bucks a person
Super great place very historical very clean awesome memories from childhood, got a chance to share it with my fiance and her son it was great as it was in 1970 is it is today you must go to see this
I had no idea this place existed. It is so cool. Incredible he built himself.
Castle was built by one man. Located near the banks of the Miami River. Awesome place to bring the kids, or spend some time with that someone special walking the grounds and enjoy Spring blooms while admiring the architecture and interiors.
The old man with the long pony tail working the front desk is extremely rude. He accused us of throwing trash on the ground which was just ice from our cooler. He was rude and angry the whole time and we were very polite explaining that it was just ice and then he cussed us out for it and wasn’t interested in an explanation from us. He then threatened to call the police for where we parked our car which we had already told him we were happy to move. Not a friendly place at all.
Amazing, history very interesting. Worth the visit
This place is absolutely amazing. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable of the history. Would definitely visit again!
An amazing story of one mans passion to build a castle using cardboard milk cartons as forms to mold concrete bricks. Begun in 1930 the Castle in its current state was completed in the late 1980s. Now, it is a great staycation option for kids/grandkids. The Knights of the Golden Trail who work there were informative and super friendly. Almost as impressive as the Castle are the surrounding grounds. You dont have to squint much to think you are in Europe. If you have never been here then do yourself a favor and visit - you will be happily surprised.
Fantastic castle, best place to visit with kids. Highly recommend it if youre looking for something to do for a couple hours!!!
Cute little place with some very interesting history, worth a stop if youre in the area.
At only $5 per adult, this castle and courtyard is a photographers wet dream. The architecture is incredible considering how the materials were acquired and how construction began. There are many artifacts to look at and many places to explore. Perfect place to take your girlfriend for a romantic summer outing for very little money
Like a hidden gem in Cincinnati. We loved it and its so comforting to know that Harry is resting in the place he loved.
An amazing little castle set along the river. Privately owned it has specific times open. Its advised to call to make sure its open.
Love this place. Beautiful scenery. Fun time exploring castle.
It was a beautiful day so lots of people were out and most were without masks
Awesome castle with alot of cool history. Great garden scenery for taking pictures. Also Sir Dave who was collecting the tickets was great at giving us a detailed history of the castle.
This place was beyond cool!! To think this was built by one man!! Was a little disappointed that we couldnt tour every room. The gentleman at the entrance was extremely knowledgeable and so very friendly!
Havent been here since 8th grade. Totally forgot how cool it was!
We enjoyed visiting this unique castle. Well worth the $5 to go see.
Took my girlfriend here to tour the castle. The knights were very kind and full of information. Took us about an hour to get through the place. We packed a lunch and ate on the property picnic style.
Great day with my wife and grandson. Not the biggest castle in the world, but everyone was very nice. Thanks!
Awesome to check out if you have never been. Located on the banks of the little miami river in loveland, oh.
This place is beautiful! Great day trip with the family or if youre feeling adventurous, dress up in your knightly regalia and ascend the steps of this castle for glory! The place has a lot of lore behind it for those with an interested in history. For example, it was hand built by a knight over several years!!Oh! And the flower garden around back? Amazing.Dont forget to bring a camera, this is a great spot for any type of camera work!
Beautiful dressed in fall colors!
Beautiful grounds. Never been before
Castle was cute and full of history! Wasnt able to walk thru whole thing, which was a bummer..why Im giving a 3 is because of tools, empty flower pots and other miscellaneous things laying in piles around the grounds.
Interesting land mark. Run down exterior. Limited hours in winter. Incredibly steep hill in and out. Interesting enough for a quick trip.
My wife and I were driving back home after a week down in the Cincinnati area when we saw a sign for this castle. We had plenty of time to kill so we decided to check it out. Really glad we decided to make the detour! Yes the castle is a little on the small side but when you add the fact that ONE man built this you start to recognize the accomplishment this piece of Americana truly is. I recommend checking this place out and talking to the folks that put their time and energy into maintaining this place. They all have wonderful stories to tell!
A cool spot with great history and kind volunteers.
