I come here strictly for Danny Macs pizza !! If you want great food and a friendly staff, come here !! The portions here are great and I leave here stuffed and with a few bucks still left in my pocket. Also worth mentioning is they have way more than just pizza !! Everything me and my lunch crew have ever ordered here has been great! Its worth the trip to river road, even if you live 30 mins away. I know very little about the rest of the art center, but it looks nice from my point of view
My son and his new wife selected the Mellwood Center for their wedding reception venue. My wife and I do not live in the Louisville area so we were not familiar with the area. We were however pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The Mellwood Center is a restored industrial building. They have done a pretty good job. The building photographs well, there is an area for kitchen prep, it was clean, the high ceilings allow for good acoustics, the air flow is good and the temperature control was good although the weather was very cooperative as well. Overall, I would recommend the Mellwood Center as a reception venue.
Very nice spot, this place has lots of space and copious amounts of antiques. The staff was very welcoming- while not being overbearing. I would recommend heading straight to the upstairs level and then work your way to the lower level. This facility seemed to have good ventilation and did not smell musty or smell like a bunch of old stuff was stored there, the air conditioning worked good.
I continue to love the way the MAEC has improved over time. It is a beautiful venue that just feels special when you walk in to the complex. It doesnt look that much from the road but you will be surprised by the overall look and feel of the buildings inner areas. It makes the Epilepsy Foundation Gala a fantastic site for a worthy cause.
I VISITED WAX AMORE AND IT WAS GREAT! JENNIFER WAS VERY PLEASANT AND PROFESSIONAL. I WAS VERY RELAXED. I GOT A FACIAL AND I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK AND SEE HER!
Millwood Art Center is a beautiful Louisville City destination to visit. I was there for a birthday party held at one of the venues there that was nice and spacious also very clean; I went back at a later date to have a photoshoot done with Lynn Photography and had a great experience, Lynn took us around to see all of the art exhibited on the walls around the center and did most of our photos around them! This place gives you the culture of this city and is a nice place to hangout and eat lunch at one of the restaurants, get your hair done for a reasonable price at Krownd Beauty Bar by Mrs.Tameka Bland and her crew or to just get away for peace of mind!
Beautiful venue. Cant wait to get married here in January. All the additions recently look great. Love the open vendor policy
Great place went to Danny Macs Pizza the crack sticks are the best
This place is huge so don’t come in a rush, you can find amazing treasures. The staff is great and always willing to help they make it fairly easy to find your way around.
Went to a wedding, very nice, loved how the mirror was labeled with my table and when it came time to eat everyone had to clean their hands and wear gloves
Unique Shoppes! Ambience is also nice, had a few artisans in the courtyard while social distancing! Enjoyed my time there
AWESOME EXPERIENCE! Went to see a Reader in the Mellwood Arts Center(Cats Meow).. It was very enlightening and well needed! Kennedy is EXTREMELY GOOD!
Cool adventure. Great local shops. Artsy
The best place in louisville for antiques and collectables.
Most of the shops were closed, but I was there quite early in the day. During lunch Im sure the personality will emerge.I do wish the covered walk was actually covered with something to separate the rain from my head.
Mellwood Center is a multi-use facility that is home to many artists of all mediums. It is a unique place, unlike anything you will find in other cities. Louisville sets itself apart with locations like Mellwood and in supporting a vibrant and growing artistic community. The buildings at Mellwood are vast and expansive. You can spend hours walking through them exploring the different studios and galleries from photographers to sculptors, metal workers, glass blowers, painters and more. Most the artists are very friendly and open their studio to the public to showcase their craft. Many also offer items they have crafted for sale, and most are very reasonably priced. If you are searching for something unique, you almost certainly can find it or have it created from your ideas by one of the artists who lease space at Mellwood. The structures and buildings at Mellwood are also fantastic, initially built by the Fischer Meat Packing Company in 1904 it served to process bacon for many years before being closed and repurposed. Today Mellwood is home to over 200 artisans along with retail, event space and several great restaurants and with over 360,000 square feet they always have a variety of areas open for new artisans.I have not ever visited an event here but have worked with various artists over the last twelve years and only wish that a place like Mellwood Center for the Arts was available in the greater Atlanta area.
I did not know about this art center until we walked through the bridge way.Very nice art center, worth a visit.
What used to be used for processing meat is being repurposed for better uses. I went to get a massage at Message on Mellwood which is fabulous. So I dont know much about the other businesses. I love that an old building is an incubator for local small businesses. Check it out.
On top of the worst year ever, we are now losing our deposit, because we chose to not put our immunocompromised and elderly loved ones at risk, including myself as the bride having asthma (see below).I’m 900 miles away from this venue and most of my guests were all over the USA. Being that you’re supposed to quarantine when entering Kentucky, was I supposed to ask all my guests to come 2 weeks before my wedding to do so?They sent the below to me a couple days ago (3 months before my event that I then cancelled that day). It clearly states that people with asthma should not attend... so how is a bride supposed to go to her own wedding here in a room full of 200 people?Directly from the packet they sent over to me this week:Elderly people and those who are vulnerable as a result of illness should take additional precautions or choose not to attend the event. People at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19 including elderly people and those who are sick, are urged to stay in their residence to the extent possible except as necessary to seek medical care. According to CDC, those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 include people who are sixty-five years or older and people of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:a. People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma;b. People who have serious heart conditions;c. People who are immune compromised;d. People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher); e. People with diabetes;f. People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis; and g. People with liver disease.
We had our wedding here last week and everything was wonderful! They had everything set up to our specifications, and we were able to get everything set up nice and early. The event room and all the areas surrounding the building were perfect for our photos. The best thing by far was the freedom to choose whoever we wanted for catering and bar. It was so nice not to be restricted in our choices. We will definitely have MAEC on the top of our list for any future events.
This is an absolutely great facility for art & events as well as dining & retail. Ive never had a bad experience at Mellwood, although its quite expansive & does usually involve a lot of walking, so be prepared for that.
Really nice. Good size for family event
Never knew how greedy a business could be. They are not refunding their wedding couples if they choose to not put their guests, family, or themselves health in danger. People want to get married alone and keep the dates they have but instead they want to keep your money for themselves and make when you get married on their terms. Absolutely disgusting.
Fusion Photography is great! Ryan was personable and professional.
Had a photo shoot there lots of cool small shops very pretty.
Beautiful venue. Coming to America 2 bridging the gap gala was hosted hear. Lots of space. And plenty of ladies restrooms!
Love this place. Especially since derby city antiques is gone
We love our weddings at Mellwood! The flexibility let’s you create and build the perfect elements for your wedding day.
My home away from home:) if youre an artist, you get it. It youre not, come check it out anyway. Well tell you why its cool:)
Ots of antiques an collectibles. I highly recommend.
I wish they posted their vendor directory online.
I visited Krownd Beauty for hair services and Tameka was awesome!!!
This place is worth a visit. Stopped in to Danny Macs for lunch and the spaghetti and meatballs was outstanding. Huge portions and smothered in cheese. Awesome. Theyre known forSmall artisan pizza, will return to try.
Definitely something for everyone!
It was hot inside. The early lady checked in once and was a bit rude when we tried talking to her. The evening lady and man were fabulous!! I do love Mellwood!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE
Mellwood Art Studio was a very exciting place to see. Cool artwork all around the place.
Simple its a beautiful scene; its got lots of space, lots of things to do, all in all it was the perfect place for the event I attended there
Came her and did a photo shoot. Had very unique areas that we used to take picture! Also had a cute pizzeria that had fabulous pizza
Mellwood is a wonderful art complex with many storefronts and small businesses to shop from. Some of the businesses keep special hours so I would double check with them if theres a specific shop youd like to visit. The antique store is amazing and full of unique finds. Overall Mellwood has an abundance of interesting locations that can be used for portrait purposes. Its one of my favorite places in Louisville.
Very neat place full off art type shops with restaurants also.
Absolutely fabulous! Quirky lil shops and galleries! Beautiful place for weddings or any other celebration. I have had the pleasure of attending 4 weddings here (the Picasso room is the best!) And each time the celebrations were amazing! The grounds are well kept, restrooms are clean, and staff is very helpful. Highly recommended for a stroll through just to check out the art or celebrating your big day!
Great facility for my wedding reception. Monte room offered plenty of space. Event caterer and DJ had easy access to the kitchen and flooring areas. Tables were ready upon arrival for decorations. However there were small things that have been brought to managements attention. Still, I would recommend and use this venue again happily.
Neat place. Lotsa local shops & a great event space
Great shops, facility and art boutiques
Great event venue..tons of space in the new bldg
The First time I visited MAEC they were new. I loved it. We needed IT! Ive been to and catered several weddings also. I always enjoy shopping there and never leave empty handed. Id love to have a studio there! WOW!
Nice venue. Could have used seating for the occasion.
Good Venue for the Sacred Heart father/daughter dance.
This place is a blank canvas. Brilliantly, tucked snuck away...
Georgous venue!
Attended a Wedding reception and really enjoyed it. Very spacious, loved the large balcony/ outdoor space. Decorating options are Endless. I liked the old building charm . Would refer this venue to friends if looking for event space.
Just seems unkempt. Fewer art stores everyday. Inside halls are creepy. Love the Antique mall though, Danny Macs was good.
Came here for a wedding reception. Walking through, I saw many different shops and cafes. Its a very interesting setting. Good view for Thunder Over Louisville and the air show.
Always a learning experience. I enjoy promoting local artists.
Great venue and wonderful local artist shops.
Parking was horrible....directions to each specific event was horrible. The city needs to step in and update the handicapped parking as well....it is a beautiful place once you get there!
Great place to look at & buy local art!
Love this place
Pretty event space. Lots of windows and a bar is available. We spent a little time in the shops across from the event space and it was nice as well. The art gallery staff was warm and inviting. Theres a hat shop and a pizza place as well. They just need more parking because that lot fills up quickly and people park on the side do only one car can get through at a time.
Beautiful building. Amazing view from the roof.
Using Mellwood Arts Center for my wedding was the best decision! The are open to vendor choices, have beautiful rooms to choose from, and are such polite and helpful to work with. Thank you for making my wedding day so amazing and memorable!
Had good police presence due to GRRAND. Felt very safe.
Nice venue to spend an afternoon browsing.
Great and beautiful place for any and all events
Beautiful, spacious place.Good parking area, nice location
Very busy place and very nice. Beautiful piece, very nice staff. Also alot of cool places close to it
Great facility. Decorated nicely and clean restrooms.
Nice venue, no places for handicapped parking, just large open lot by building.
This was my first time visiting here. I was completely surprised and pleased with what I found. It was a very neat place with awesome little shops coop architecture. If you have never been here before I highly recommend a stop by here.
Parking is terrible for women in heels! The area was VERY nice
It was AWESOME tbh. Didnt know how much it has expanded over the years. Cant wait to go when I have some real time
Because it was great
Great place for a wedding reception.
I visited the Mellwood Art and Entertainment Center to attend the Grow With Google event. It was not my first visit to the center but was my first visit to attend an event using their many venues. I attended meetings in several rooms and got to experience the MAEC from a different perspective - much different than visiting the different artists in their individual studios. The Google event was great. I truly appreciated all the parking available at the center during this event. Past visits allowed me to interact with some of the wonderful artists. This is truly a unique facility and has a wide variety of art. I have two beautiful pieces of art in my home purchased at the center.
Meh nice art for whats it worth. Still under renovation and construction will be better! Id this meets your crowd, then this place is small but awesome
Such an incredible place for all kinds of people!! So nice to walk through
Nice place
Attended wedding reception. Lots of potential but needs work. The acoustics in the place were gawd awful. I understand the DJ that was hired would be responsible for the sound system but come on...dont restrict them with the building structure. Having a house system would have turned a painful experience into a beautiful one. These are not that expensive either.
I visited the Antique Market. Friendly staff. Pretty pricey from my experience. Lots of space to wander around. A big variety of items. $$$$
Its going down holla at Braxton for them beats
My sister & her husband had their wedding reception here & it proved to be a very nice setting for this occasion.
I always enjoy events there. Parking is easy with either a short walk or shuttle ride. Lighting in some of the venues could be better but not bad.
Very artsy and repurposed area with a few boutique shops. Could do a little better with the overall look and feel.
Beautiful place. Had a great event here.
