Intimate, fantastic setting & a variety of comics who are funny af. Thank you Jon Allen & Cheaper Than Therapy, for making my first visit to Los Angeles truly remarkable.
Perfect date night! Super cozy and funny. Loved my experience and would highly recommend!!
If you like standup, if you love talent, if you need a good date idea - do this! Every act was super smart and funny.
Great show! Funny comedians, plus theyre really generous with the gin! Go see it!
Ive been here many times and its always a great time. I live close to the stand but prefer coming here for so many reasons. Their comics are much better and the servers are always friendly and attentive. 4 stars!!
Loved my experience at Tao! I came here on a Saturday night with my best friend. We both didnt know what to expect. The place is pretty small, but its a very nice intimate venue. Bobbie was very friendly and greeted us when we walked in. It costs $10 to enter (which included a free drink - nonalcoholic or alcohol). Almost all the comedians were hilarious. Would definitely come back!
Really enjoyed the LGBTQ open mic. I was the only straight guy there. But the audience was very receptive and supportive. Would return again.
A great place to see comics! Very cozy and inviting. Id definitely recommend you check it out!
Had a great time sitting front table with a friend. I hope they can expand the food menu. Was impressed by the comics on Saturday 1/16.
My cheeks are still hurting from laughter. I had very low expectations based on previous reviews. First time to New York, very little comic experience. However, this was worth every penny. We had 4 beers and it was about 70 bucks. Highly recommend!
This is a very welcoming place. I’ve enjoyed myself every time I’ve been here. I’ll be back for sure.
I love this joint! No punching down and super inclusive! The workshops are an incredible place to work on material and hone your craft. Mics are fun and great for networking with other dope comics! Bobbie Oliver has certainly created something magical here!
Great performances. Defenitely get there early to get a seat you want. I would easily take a group of out of towners here because its not super expensive, but still well done.

A good place to kickstart your comedy career. I was there supporting a friend who was doing his first standup. I liked the place because it just removes the barriers that many starting comedians face. With just $5 and showing up, you get the stage for 5 minutes and its this is a small price to pay for the experience of practicing your jokes and alleviating stage fright. The downside is that it is very small and as a consequence the audience is small, usually confined to other comedians or friends of comedians.
Great place to try comedy not really a big crowd so its perfect for people who are scared but want to try comedy the thing is this is not a place for professionals more like a place to see how jokes will work the crowd is mostly comedians so if you can make them laugh you should be good but a great environment plus some people are good so its good to talk to some people and learn about comedy they also a good number of open mics
Honestly just did my 1st open mic ever and Im so grateful to this place and the fellow comics who were their tonight. Cant wait to be back and thank you all again, seriously check his place out! Great spot for Comics
I came here with my Boyfriend a couple weeks ago. We great a great deal through Groupon. The comedians on the night were absolutely hilarious. The drinks were also really reasonably priced and they definitely know how to make a great cocktail. Ill be back here again without a doubt!
When I meet women who are comedians and new to LA, I immediately recommend Tao Comedy Studio. While so many shows and open mics in town are just cesspools of toxic masculinity, Bobbie Oliver has created a welcoming space for women in comedy, which is rare. There are no men (even in the audience) on Monday night mics, but even during the rest of the week she has a zero tolerance policy for jokes that are misogynist in any way. The storefront theater in Koreatown is small but perfect for comedy, and the back patio is beautiful any time of day.
One of the best mics in LA for comedy. If youve done over 20, you know that means something (sorry for the poor English, Ive been drinking). Chris is a good guy, runs a GREAT mic. Professional and supportive. Ive been doing this for an embarrassingly long amount of time, and this is one of the best. Maybe the best, but I dont have the energy to go through my mind.
This place is awesome. All the mics are inclusive and high energy, Bobbie and Chris are wonderful hosts, and the shows I’ve been on here are always bangers. Want a good place to film a press clip for yourself? Come to their Wednesday mic.
Tao comedy is about a block and a half from the busy intersection of Western Ave and 3rd St.It is pretty much a hole-in-the-wall, small space, but very clean with a nice uni-sex bathroom. The space itself is like a wide corridor in a lobby as if you were walking towards the lifts, though there is none here.At the entrance is a counter, then rows of simple black chairs: the kind you would expect to see at an auditorium or public school. Then a very small stage with a red curtain behind it.The lights are hot and what you’d expect at a comedy club like the Improv. The Tao stage is small but the same experience for the performer as any other comedy nightclub. In fact, it’s even more daunting because of the very close proximity of the audience and the blinding and hot glower you get from the lights.$5 dollars USD for five minutes, and you get a drink.Could be water or a can of soda or other beverages on offer. There’s one guy there for staff, and that’s all that’s needed. No vetting process, except that you sign up with your name on a sheet.Obey general rules of etiquette, and you will get a warning light at the four minute mark for time. Some go over the five minutes, but the staff is friendly and flexible. The audience is a mixed bag of mostly comics testing material.Do not expect laughs. The audience is diverse and sophisticated. Many of them have heard your joke before or prefer a different style of comedy.
Bobbie Oliver pours her heart and soul into this club and it shows. Its so great to see a club and an owner that are so dedicated to providing a safe and friendly space for marginalized and mainstream voices alike. An undiscovered gem with lots to offer!
Great place to practice your standup comedy, I go every Sunday, open mic, just sign up and donate $5 for 5 min of stage time.
Tao is a well run, supportive comedy venue. Its a cozy yet roomy theater with a lovely back patio area for a smoke between shows. Its nice having a long time professional comic like Bobbie there to ask for advice.
This is not only a great comedy club but an IMPORTANT space for women to create fantastic material in a safe and supportive environment. Thanks Bobbi and Tao for letting us shine on your stage.
Tao Comedy Studio is a wonderful, supportive room! They welcomed me with open arms and I direct all my funny friends to them. I would practice my sets there every night if I could! :)
Best comedy studio around! Bobbie Oliver teaches stand up comedy class, they have great open mic nights. Beautiful environment with a patio out back. Check out their comedy festival every year!
Been going to this mic for a long time and followed them through a location switch. Great mic! Bobbie and Chris are awesome.
Such a amazing venue for comics to test their material out and really get it flowing. Meet some other good comics, cant wait to be back!
Great spot for open mics, fantastic weekend comedy shows (w/ no drink minimums!), movie nights, patio mic nights, a kickass annual punk rock feminist comedy festival, AND Bobbie teaches amazing workshops for comics of all levels. this place is a gem!
Wonderful, supportive space for L.A. comics. A must for people who love sharp, inclusive comedy.
Tao is awesome! My first experience doing open mic was at Tao. Its a warm and welcoming environment and the stage and seating is very intimate
Super fun night out! Would be sure to just order drinks, food is stadium food--and if thats your thing, go for it!
I love Bobby Oliver and Chris Oliver. A welcoming space to see comedians and story tellers of all levels and all topics. Open hearted warm welcoming space to try new material. Love !
Great open mic and classes availible by people who seem to genuinely care about preserving the artform of standup. Beautiful space with warm colors and good vibes. Would come again!
I can’t tell you how much fun this place is! Bobby is wonderful
Its my home away from home. Thank you Bobbie Oliver for helping me find my funny♡
Bobby is amazing. We will definitely be back
Great space, Bobby & Chris are wonderful!
Love the atmosphere and the one that runs the show, Ms. Bobbie Oliver!!!
I love this place!
Hole in the wall apartment comedy club. Worst jokes I heard in my life.
Great comedy, a bit hot though, street parking
Cool.
