This was my first time visiting and I have to say, a Christmas time visit is the best! So much history and the very best in Texas style story telling. The tour was amazing, I could have stayed here all day if time allowed. This experience is great for just adults or for the whole family. I was even able to watch them put together this incredible train set which was really special! Ok and I have it on good authority, on the third floor may or may not be a haunted coffin! Definitely make this stop when you can!

Im not sure if you can receive a tour all throughout the hours, but requesting a time would help. It is 2 stories of artifacts that date back thousands of years up to the era of world war II. Great place to take kids or a date/family from out of town. Dont sit around and watch TV all day, go to the Gregg county historical museum (old citizens national bank built in 1910) and learn about the infamous Dalton gang!

I love history, this is the original bank from the Dalton Gang bank robbery and they still have an original teller cage and the bank vault. You can see little portals of days gone by from a fancy parlor to how early settlers would have lived in small one room cabins. Very cost effective and engaging for the kids. I have been going there since I was a child.

This was a surprise for me. I assumed the typical small county museum. This has a great story from the building and the Dalton gang robbery/shoot out to the extensive Cado artifact collection in the basement. I would highly suggest this museum if you love local history.

Great place to learn about much of the local history. The displays are kept very clean and organized. The beautifully ornate old bank building has several rooms with a variety of displays. The military gun collection is very interesting, along with an impressive collection of Caddo Indian pottery recovered from the East Texas area, a room with displays relating to the hot air balloon races in Longview, and lots more. This would be an excellent field trip for home school students. We will definitely go again the next time were in the area.
