This is a great place to bring your paddle board or kayak. The reservoir isn’t usually too busy during the week, but weekends can get busy pretty early. The dog beach is currently closed because of covid. Also worth noting - the dog beach is not fenced in so this wouldn’t be a good place to bring your pup if they don’t stay close by.
Great spot in longmont. Beautiful lake thats easily accessible. Only reason for the low rating is the price. Its pricey, especially on the weekends.
Great place to bring you dogs! We visit the off leash dog beach as often as possible. In these challenging times where the amount of people allowed in are limited weve experienced some wait times but its still worth it so be patient and positive!
Great lake for paddleboarding. No wakes so the water is nice and glassy. Great for beginners trying to get their balance on the board. Big trees that offer shade along the shoreline. Nice grassy areas for folding up boards when done. Great family experience!
Best little not so little gem of a getaway! Great mom daughter time! Paddleboarding of course! Loved it enough we went for my grandsons bday. Middle of the week. Outdoors sunshine, excercise, snacks on lake and shore. We Highly recommend it! Got some great yoga photo ops and kiddo photo fun! The folks at the rental place were SUPER INFORMATIONAL... great fun and represented RMSUP extremely well! Truly wish there was camping there. Close and safe enough, Id have no problems with it
Went fishing here was a very nice place except it seemed that some of the paddleboarders brought along a fish detractor and kept setting it off. After they left it was much nicer but still didnt catch anything. Not even a bite sigh all that lake and nothing lol..
Wonderful day on the water at this beautiful lake! We enjoyed kayak, boat, and SUP. There was plenty of shade to picnic with social distancing in place. You can rent standup paddleboards and there is an easy launch ramp into the water. You wont regret going here.
Great area with grills, picnic tables, bathrooms, paddle board/kayak rentals and more! Beach has a nice swim area for kids.
Dog Beach is simply a section of the beach that has been marked to allow dogs to be off leash. The entire lake is enclosed with a fence, but there is no formal separation between off-leash and on-leash beach. Often I see intact male dogs, which is iffy. Price is $10 or so. Always have the best time with my pups and you can get in the water with them. Water feels and looks super clean. Easy to get to from i25
It was fun and amazi g gave us social distancing
Natural beauty so many things to do for everyone and so much room to fo it.
Decent facilities, kind of average reservoir and average fishing. The swim area is fun. The beach area is nice with large shade trees. Needs more fishing docks.
Pretty clean, and a great place for paddle boarding, but $20 is a high price for a day pass and two paddle borders.
Seriously?? There is a capacity limit, and you wait in line, BUT if you have a seasons pass you dont wait in line.. what kind of elite resource monopoly is this?? We all wait or no one waits.. Fix yourself
Beautifu setting! Get there early! I fish Sundays around 730am. By the time we leave at 11am the parking lot is full and a line of cars halfway to County Line Road.
Great lake, no wake which is nice for paddle boarding, and it wasnt crowded!
The staff here are awesome! Brad and John specifically do a great job. Its family friendly and the dog swim beach is hands down one of the best places to swim your pup. I only wish I lived closer!
Plenty of spots to set-up for a day of fun! You can grill your favorite BBQ foods to enjoy out here!! Swimming, boating, fishing, sun- bathing, walking, relaxing are all enjoyed at Union! I must admit though. I was really disappointed to hear you can no longer camp overnight here! My kids are grown up now. but when they were littler we had a ball camping out here ! I wish you still could camp here because my grandsons 4 & 1/2 years old and hed love it!!
Its definitely a town reservoir! :) Water is definitely not clear and people could clean up after themselves better, but the res itself it a good little area to go boating, have a picnic, or go swimming/paddleboarding. The price is reasonable, and there are lots of shaded areas and picnic tables if you come at a good time. Swim beach opens at 10 am, so its wading only until the lifeguard shows up.
So disappointed that it is June and the swim beach is closed. Really the swim beach, outdoors and swimming cause Covid? No
Close to everything, just in case u forgot salt or pepper, theres plenty of stores near by
Great place for our dog to be social! VERY crowded on holidays. Get there early, or you might wait in line for an hour like we did. Season passes and rentals of kayaks and such are available. They should think about putting a concession stand in.
Nice place to go with kids. Great swimming area and play ground. Older kids love to paddle around on our sup or kayaks.
A great family reservoir! The beach sand is pretty gritty and water is definitely not clear . But lots of activities. Volleyball, child play area, and picnic benches are available. Defintely a good place to spend some time at.
Caught a fish. Small bass. Very nice lady at the gate who was informative on the algae issue; good thing it wasnt here because we went to different resevoirs before this and they had warning signs.
Lots of dogs, I don’t mind that but the trend is that there are too many bully dogs (I’m not naming a breed, but it’s always the same BS with owners that don’t care. One owner of such “bully” dog actually took his dog by the collar, after it pinned down my 8 month pup, stating:”oh man, you’re not behaving I should put you on a leash.” Only to release his dog 30 seconds later. I’m venting I guess, but why do people breed these dogs if the majority can’t educate or socialize or handle them? I don’t get it! Must be a LW-syndrome.But I digress, the lake is nice ;-)Cost $12/day weekend $10/weekday.
Lovely place. Small but great swimming beach. Paddle boards all over. Playground for kids. Only $10/car.
Family n pet friendly
Beautiful and peaceful place!
Grand fun and good people
Large, warm body of water. Can get a little choppy if the wind is strong. We kayak here and the no wake is nice. The full moon paddle events are great.
Perfect water temperature! I love kayaking and paddleboarding here. It is also dog friendly.
Nice lake. Quiet with a playground. Paddle boards
Great place to sail and paddle board. Wake-less reservoir with swim beach, picnic areas, dog beach, shade and grassy areas. Very clean area.
It was a great time even though our raft popped we still had Soo much fun
Its a reservoir, I honestly dont get the hype. When I left the road was backed up to CR1. It was $12.00 to get in. Other than the close proximity to the city of Longmont it dosent have a whole lot going for it. Spectacular views of fields and a fracking site. If youre in town and want to paddle Id go to Macintosh. Its free and great views.
Well maintained areas for the kids to play, they even did some fishing and caught a couple of cat fish.
Big Lake. Paddle boarding available all over the whole lake which is cool. No charcoal grills or charcoal of any kind I guess. Get there early if you want a table anywhere near the swim Beach. Sand is very Rocky and rough. Parking lot is a little ways away from the swim Beach also but you can pull up and unload where the boat and paddle board parking is.
High fees but cash only. Cant even be bothered to put in a credit card system like other parks in the area.
This is an excellent place to practice an open water swim if that is your thing! They host them every Saturday in the summer months. Wetsuits are nice but not necessarily needed
Great place to hang with family
Excellent place for flat water kayaking. We had a great & enjoyable paddle. Large enclosure with no wakes. Costs $10 entrance fee & $5 per boat. Longmont had plenty of staff on hand and they were all working hard to clean & take care of park. Only issue no trash recepticals were foind close to main picnic area.
Best to go in the summer. They have adig swim beach off leash
Great for relaxing, picnic, fishing, swimming, boat rentals. Best value is the annual pass.
Fee to enter. Rental available. Fee for bringing in own boats, kayaks etc...
Nice place.Dog friendly
Very nice spot, but could use a concessions stand
Great place to have a July summer day at the lake! Its a wonderful place for so many reasons. You can have a picnic on a sandy beach or in the shade on a grassy, paddleboard, swim, play volleyball, and take a long walk. There is even a piece of the lake designated for just dog swims!
Beautiful views from the water
Had a blast trying SUP! Beautiful
Beautiful night really enjoyed the full moon paddle.
Not too busy on Mondays for paddle boarding. Everyone is super friendly.
Best dog picnic ever! Good parking, clean bathrooms, lots of picnic tables, clean beach.
Great for swimming and bbq
Very cool area to swim and to bring your puppies to swim!
Would be a great place if they did not drain it every fall.
Love this place! Great views and always a good time!
Pretty cool place to do a triathlon
$16.00 for the vehicle and boat. The Ranger was a nice guy. No post boating inspection. I now have to deal with washing the motor for the next lake. Also no paperwork showing I was there. Doesnt seem professional. Caught plenty of fish.
Neat place to go, beachside/shore is separated by sport/activity, nice way to do that.
Nice and quiet reservoir with kayak and paddleboard rentals.
Ive grown up around the union and its been a part of my life and history. Its a great place located on the outskirts of longmont, making it feel like its actually far from any city, but is 5-10 minutes driving time from just about anywhere in or around longmont making it a great place.
You do cool things paddle boating
A usual place for paddel boarding. Till next year!
Awesome spot for standup paddle boarding
Beautiful place to kayak and paddleboard!
Not enjoyable at all
Great Fun
We love to come here and rent a kayak or a paddle board! Beautiful view of the mountains and reasonable prices. Make sure you make a reservation online for guaranteed time slot.
Fun place. No wake Reservoir. GO EARLY or SIT IN RIDICULOUS TRAFFIC trying to get in. We waited in line for 2hrs only to get to the gate and they were doing 1 in, 1 out! What a cluster!
Love this place! Great for families!
Loved it, have only gone once. But would go again. Fun for family. They have a swimming area. Great play ground. Paddle board rentals. If your looking for quite serenity camping, not the place. But great over all.
I like it because its close to my house it very clean and easey to assess camping fishing bout docks and a beach for the swimming which makes the day at this lake same lime a day at the beach and if u dont swimming and just look for a good places to hang out in joy the flow and BBQ are what ever it may be this is one of the best place to do so
Its a nice lake and has good facilities and is extremely popular with paddle boarders. That can make it a little tough if youre interested in sailing.
A great family place for paddleboarding
Peaceful with a childrens play parkPortable pottys are disgustingCaught a few
GORGEOUS! Havent gone paddleboarding yet, but I bought an annual pass and plan to go soon!
Fun place to cool off bring your dog too.Entrance fee increased though. ️
Union reservoir easily has some of the best wind on the front range. You can get a little better, but you have to go as far north as Loveland. For someone living in Denver, Union is just about the perfect distance, and usually not too busy. The facilities are good for small boats, although a sandier beach would be good to help avoid damaging the bottoms.Very few negatives to complain about. Perfect place for sailing.
It was better before it turned into a money machine. It is fun to rent paddleboards/kyaks but a little pricy. I wont fish here anymore, too many people.
A little over crowded butGood spot to fish somerimes the people that go kind of ruin it lol but all in all I like it
