Great little community theater with widely varied fare. Stage arrangement is very interesting, as it is surrounded by the audience on three sides, with a small raised portion on the fourth. The actors walk, talk and sing amongst the audience which adds a lot of immediacy to the performances.

This is the best play I have ever been to at the the Long Beach Playhouse. The Haunting of the Hill House was awesome!! Extremely talented actors. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!! ELEANOR is in another category, she NAILED IT!! BUT THEODORA, LUKE, DR MONTAGUE WERE NOT FAR BEHIND. Will definitely go see this play again!!

Went a few weeks ago to see a play with my husband and totally loved how intimate this theater was. They have a larger one downstairs. Parking can fill up quickly if two separate plays are going on at the same time so arrive a bit earlier, otherwise youd have to find parking in the neighborhood. Would definitely go back to this venue to see another play.

I really came here to support a friend. I like the venue but really this review is for the acoustics and speaker system.During the play I felt some of the actors and actresses strained their voices while singing to project their voices. Sitting in back probably didnt help much but, again, the acoustics werent up to par here, in my opinion. The theatre itself was cozy, lighting was good. Seats were comfortable. Concessions served beer and some snacks but nothing major. Parking was decent with a long parking lot and easy in and out.Again, the venue is not bad, they just need to update the sound system.

Such a hidden gem in the heart of Long Beach. The history of this theatre alone should make you go at least once. It has a great thrust stage downstairs and a smaller theater upstairs. There is a bar and some parking (not a lot but some) in the back.Great talent there!!

Wonderful little playhouse in Long Beach! We usually drive a little over an hour to get here, and we always enjoy the plays. Its a small theater, but they provide hot drinks and they are always extremely friendly. I cant wait to come back!

This review is only for the play “Moses and the Burning Bush.” This was a painful experience. I got a sense that none of the actors have ever acted before and that the director never directed before, etc., etc. I later learned that this was some type of a community group performing in a way which was not affiliated with the theater or something like that. However, it was on the theater’s website and it was never made clear to me that this would be some type of community theater. It was deceptive and excruciating. We left at intermission and will never come back to this theater again

This is such a well run little theatre. I have been taken to see two productions in the last month, one upstairs and one down. Both were enjoyable. The upstairs theatre is more traditional seating with the stage in front of the audience. The downstairs layout has the rows of seats in essentially a u shape around the stage, creating a more interactive experience. Both plays I have seen have been well produced and definitely worth theticket price. Enjoyable experience overall!

Love this little theater where the productions range from so-so to so great. Its an inexpensive way to enjoy theater - cheap enough to leave during the intermission if the show stinks, but most of the time theyre pretty darned good for the size of this place. The theater has a lived-in quality, a little worn from wear but comfortable because of it. The productions are good and the acting quality varies to the the up side. Inexpensive. Nice bar.Attended the haunting of hill house. The cast didnt seem very interested. One character, Theodora, several times prompted another character, Dr. Montague, on his lines. Its sad in that the shows here are usually very entertaining. We are season ticket holders so we know this was an anomaly.Saw Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pembreley. Have a friend who acts on the side, and we sees him performs here &then, small personal setting, where audience surrounds the stage on 3 sides. Only 4 rows deep, no pillars, therfore not a bad seat anywhere.Narrow feet spacing, so if you are more than 6 feet tall, could be uncomfortable? Best part youre allow to bring your alcoholic beverage INSIDE during the performance! Reasonable priced booze, wine &beer +candy bars and bag popcorn.
