Such a great place to get a quick Fix of historical information.
Stopped by here friday evening during the First Friday Bixby Knolls event. Great place to visit and the staff here was very knowledgeable and excited to share their knowledge. Current exhibit on water in Long Beach provided context on the changing landscape and evolving facilities to suit the needs of the community from early settlers, to the war efforts to present day. Lots of historical pictures capturing the changes.
Water Changes Everything exhibit just opened. Information on our waterways yesterday and today. I learned how much our shoreline has changed and why we did what we did.
The Historical Society of Long Beach is the home to the history of this old and colored city. Besides the varied exhibitions they put on during the course of the year, they host a great cemetery tour each year, bringing residents to life, and are home to an extensive archive. If you have some time, whether traveling through or living in the area, take some time and drop by.
