Did the haunted night tour... it was amazing!! Such a great time glad we did it.
Love the History of town Lockport, NY. A lot of information of how the Erie canal was made. Our tour guide Cameron was very knowledgeable and patient with our group. Love the underground tour of the Lockport caves! Keep in mind tour was very active from a scale of 1 - 5, the tour was a level 5 for mobility. Great tour, great memories!
If I could give it 0 I would but 2 stars because the tour guide was awesome! Adam was fun and tried to make it interesting and haunted. Due to COVID-19 the boat part was not happening and we were not told until getting there. So it was just walking through a very foggy (made by machine) tunnel that had a few flameless candles throughout. Each group was given a lantern (dollar store quality..ours didnt work) and thats it. No fun and exciting halloween type stuff. I would not recommend booking this. At $20 a person so much more could have been done to make it fun since the boat tour is cancelled and that was our primary reason for doing it.
This was horrible! Birthday present from a friend supposed to be a haunted boat ride ! No boat! Ended up being a walking tour with lots of stairs! Horrible!
Cameron was a great tour guide. He was very informative and waited for my 92 year old mother before addressing the group so we did not miss anything.
Honestly this was a very disappointing experience. Bought tickets for the Halloween lantern tour that stated it included the boat ride and would take roughly 1.5hr to complete. Boat ride never happened and it was a 45 minute walk through a tunnel/cave with some facts from the tour guide being completely pointless information for the cave/area/tunnel. In my opinion, it was not worth the money. Extremely disappointed.
Definitely worth checking out if in Lockport. Lots of interesting history and our guide Cameron was great (corny jokes and all!). Its $18.90 for adults with tax and last about 90 for both the walking tour portion (about 65-70 minutes) and the underground boat ride (about 15-20 minutes). Wish the boat ride was longer, but what can you do!
Great tour if in the area. Tour guides were very knowledgeable.
We took the kids here today (10&12) and they were interacting a lot with our guide Ben L who was great! It was slow paced which was nice. Recommended!
Thanks to trip advisor reviews I decided to check out the Lockport Cave. The tour CONTENT is very interesting and not what you might expect. There is a lot of #UShistory here. My GUIDE, Ben was wonderful and even went out of his way to give me a suggestion for where to go for a bite to eat after the tour. Worth a look!
An interesting and informative tour!! Adam was a wonderful guide. This is my second time doing this tour. Highly recommend!
Really cool to for a small town. We really enjoyed it
Took my kids here. It was very interesting and worth a visit. Would highly recommend this experience. Our tour guide, Paige, was extremely knowledgable & lively. Made our tour even more memorable.
It was interesting and also a bit of seeing locks on the Erie Canal.
Our tour guide Zak was entertaining. I learned more about Lockport today then I would have ever imagined. The price is fair and I am in disbelief we hadnt learn all these cool facts in school. Definitely a great tour for kids and adults of all ages.
Wonderful experience! This tour included locks and a cave with history and nature. This 75-minute GUIDED tour involved walking and a boat ride. It was a great value for the price! We paid more for shorter, self-guided tours near Niagara Falls. Our guide, Paige, was phenomenal. PHENOMENAL! She joked, answered all our questions, and truly enjoys what she does! The cave is in the downtown area of this small town with lots of small businesses. For other needs, there are lots of big retailers a few miles away. This is absolutely worth the trip!
Adam was a great guide. Was definitely interesting to hear how the locks were used and how the cave was formed.
Wasnt even able to go on the boat underground,it was just a walking trip they did not make it clear before that were not going to be able to go on the boat tour.the whole time it felt like I was in social studies class.very disappointed
The lock here is the fastest - about 15 minutes for a boat to get through, so its not tedious. My kids were able to appreciate and show interest in the engineering without getting utterly bored. The tour was very informative and fun! The bypass cave was so cool to walk through, and the boat ride was the highlight for the kids. We didnt do the zip line, but it looked manageable (not crazy high up) and fun!
It was a fun tour. Paige was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Was a lot of fun. You will get a few ‘kisses of good luck’ on the boat ride but it’s not a shower. If you are claustrophobic or have a problem with the dark probably not the one for you. Highly recommend Paige. Wear comfortable shoes also.
A fun day trip for our 5 & 6 year old boys. The history of the long abandoned caves and the Erie canal is presented by the guides in a fun manner that kept my kids attention. The caves are very interesting, with a few small stalactites. There is a slow moving boat ride through the cave at the end of the tour. Total tour time was about an hour.
My husband and I went in this tour yesterday. It is well worth the price. Our tour guide, Paige, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable, with the right amount of humor thrown in. We have told our family in the area to go and do the tour as well.
Great spot to stop and explore also enjoy
Fun and informative tour of the locks and the cave. Paige did and awesome job with the tour and even training the people who were training to be guided.
We had a good time. The best part about this tour was their cave. It was fun. Ben we a good tour guide. There isn’t mimics to the locks unfortunately. And not much left to see.
Think Unique - There is Nothing Like this Anywhere ! Hiking (Short) & Climbing (UP) involved. Ben was our cave guide. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. (Sometimes your guides seem bored with their script, but Ben kept it lively and humorous.) I definitely recommend this family experience. As a word if caution, people with mobility issues should not consider this venue as there is a good deal of walking and lots of stairs.Overall great experience!!GK from Ohio
Had Ben L. For a tour guide. Great experience!! Highly recommend!!
Great tour. Its about an hour of walking including some steps--make sure youre in good physical shape. An overview of the lock system. But the highlight is a man-made cave built to power 5 plants along the canal. Fascinating history and a more off-the-beaten-trail experience. Check it out. As of this writing they are also nearly complete with a zip line to fly you over the canal.
Wonderful experience. Tour was long lots of history and stories but if your bring small ones pack snacks.
Very interesting tour. My kids absolutely loved it! Our tour guide, Paige was great
I love Everything about Lockport hell I have my family there. I grew up there I knew every corner in that town. I go back as much as possible to see family and my great Friends I grew up with.If you havent been there before go to one of the few motels or Hotels I dont believe there is a Hotel though. Our 1st stop hell some times when we got into town Mighty Tacos (Super Mighty multiple, and a Logan berry drink) get a room or go to Familys house. That night pizza Lockcity pizza a few beers. The next morning wake up eat a slice of yesterdays pizza . Go to the canal, the locks widewaters, by then your getting hungry Reeds is minutes away for lunch you wont be disappointed. For dinner grab a Submarine Sub maybe closed???? Good luck have fun
Disappointing, boat ride not running, just walk and talk.
Quite a lovely workout going up and down stairs. Page was a wonderful, well informed and theatrical presenter. Good history and the cool cave was welcome since the outside temperature was approaching 90. Very informational.
This tour was phenomenal! Paige, our tour guide was amazing and gave out lots of fun and interesting historical facts. Well worth the admission price. Not for those who are claustrophobic.
Very interesting tour and fun tour guide. It’s a LOT of walking on different terrains. My dad had to stay back at certain points because of his knees but he thoroughly enjoyed the scenery while we side-stepped a bit.
Absolutely wonderful experience never knew this was right in my backyard this is a must-see for all people in the area. Very cool to learn all these new things
This is a great historical tour of the original harnessing of the Erie Canal for manufacturing purposes along with some of the many inventions that came from Lockport New York. The guys are very knowledgeable the cave is interesting though you might want to make sure youre not wearing good shoes because your feet might get wet
Great tour and very interesting history. Ken was very knowledgeable and fun guide.
It was a good time, we did the Halloween tour.
You must do this tour when it raining outside!!! The tour guide Jason was fantastic. This tour is great for the family. Easy walking, ascending and descending stairs, dark walking areas. So worth it!
Beautiful views, awesome place, interesting story and very funny guide! Better to visit with kids and let them observe the canal and listen to its story. Ken(guide) is awesome storyteller and very fun guy. Inside the cave its quite, so you better prepare for it. Soon there will be constructed zipline, so there will be more fun.
Never got a chance to experience this with my family. Asked the cashier to describe it to my kids thinking she would have an interesting description and she said it is a 75 minute walking/ boat tour where the boat ride is 15 minutes. Really? Way to sell it....
Wow this place is AWESOME!!! Would do it again....next time for the candle tour.....
Not a lengthy ride, but pretty cool. Nice if you like historical sites and stories. Cool experience when you consider the entire walk and boat ride together.
Paige was awesome. Great trivia, fun learning experience...nice walk and boat ride!
Great time! Very interesting!
It was fun and something to do if you havent done it before
Cameron our tour guide was great. I recommend this place to anyone young or old. A lot of cool history.
We had a great tour by Page! She was knowledgeable and gave us a chance to ask our questions. Interesting history. Fun tour.
Cameron was great as our guide! Very informative and intriguing tour. Highly recommended!
Ben was amazing! Such a great tour. Wear good shoes, bring a change of shoes/socks.
It was a nice tour with lots of history. Adam was a great guide - knowledgable and funny.
Its hard to 1 star but I cant recommend it. It was $68 for 2 adults and 3 kids. They enjoyed it. But I never heard a comment or question on the way home. While the penstock and tunnel were memorable there just isnt that much here to justify the cost. The boat ride was a gimmick. It could be improved with artifacts, hands on demos or dioramas. (JUST PLEASE NO VIDEO SCREENS)I kept waiting for the big reveal, it just wasnt there. Id like to see the money go into something better. It just felt like I paid to see someones abandoned tunnel.
Very fun and interesting tour. Learned a lot from our amazing tour guide, Paige. Would come back to see the Halloween and haunted tours.
A very nice and informative place to go if you are visiting Lockport and want to know its history. Please make sure you book it well in advance as they have limited group size and it gets filled pretty quickly. They are extremely nice people and will explain it to you to the best of their knowledge. Overall a very nice and different experience.
Paige was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Great experience.
Paige was an amazing guide! Fun and made us excited! Very careful and patient with all ages.
We had so much fun! Adam gave us a history of the locks and hydraulic power in Lockport. He gave so much information through the cave tour. The boat ride was a blast!
Great tour, Paige is a great guide. We loved it.
Adam was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable. It was quite an experience. The hour went by quick. I did like the idea of question and answer as we went along.
Very cool and educational. The caves were amazing to see. The boat ride was short, 5 minutes long after a cave walk. The tour guide was very sweet and helpful and also recommended other tourist attractions in the area.
A Great tour. Very informative for all ages. I thought the website would be more informative about the tour. There was more walking than expected especially Id you have people in your party with disabilities. Thought that should be described on the website. But overall the tour was great.
Had great time! Adam was our tour guide,he was very informative. We live in lockport, and he told us few things we had never learned before. Great learning experience!
Paige was a wonderful tour guide! A+ job Paige! The place is wonderful too. (If we go again I would love to have Paige again. )
Super fun tour. Prepare to be dropped on, but it’s worth it.
Didnt seem like it would be a 5 star experience but it was. Learning and seeing how the canal worked was really neat. The tour and story of the cave made it 5 stars. The tour guide was great with kids and told great stories. We went with two 10 year olds and it was one of their favorite stops on our vacation. Niagara Falls is a short trip from there.
Was there a little while ago but had Paige for tour guide and she did a great job at explaining everything it was very interesting walking along canal and then walking in cave along water and learning how they build it then to finish it off the boat ride was just great with the water dripping down out of the cracks and then turning the boat around..
The best tour guide and an amazing place.
Wonderful tour. The things taught are so in depth.
Great experience! Amazing historical time piece!
My wife and I had a great time! Ben L was our tour guide and he did an awesome job. I would recommend others to go.
A truly unique local historical tour. Great fun with our 5 year old grandson. Most adults and kids will really enjoy this underground hiking experience.
The guide was great! Loved the history of the your.
Really informative tour right in our own backyard. Interesting history, and a great activity for all ages. Our tour guide Gina was excellent, she made the whole experience more enjoyable. Highly recommended
A nice cool underground boat tour on a hot summer day? Yes please!
Just a ride on the canal. going through the locks was educational
Love our history youll be amazed at the things you can lear and Niagara fall down the road
Fun and informational. Paige was knowledgeable and made the experience fun.
It was definitely an awesome. Ken did a great job and was extremely friendly and informative. Such an interesting place and was one of the highlights of my trip. I definitely would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in history especially concerning the Erie canal and about about an inventor who held 150 patents which many are still utilized even today.
This is very easy to locate and can visiable seen from the road. The staff was very accommodating to our group and was even willing to change our reservation around to fit our group when plans changed. Very informational also. There was more walking and we had thought with a very large staircase in the boat ride was very short.
Took my daughter and three grandchildren aged 16, 13, and 10 to visit today and it was wonderful and well worth the visit. The Tour Guide, Ken, did an excellent job providing a lot of information about the history of the canal, the locks, the underground cave/tunnel which provided water power to three of the factories along the canal. The tour was easily walkable and the boat ride very relaxing in the underground cave. I highly recommend this tour and visit to the Lockport locks known as the flight of five.
The stories werent quite as pg as we expected but it was cool.
What a great experience. It was an hour and 15 minutes long. We had Paige as our tour guide, and she was very informative and kept the tour interesting for young ones as well. The inside of the cave is pretty amazing, I would not recommend it for children under 3 as it was pretty dark and the walk was about slippery . Age 4 + would definitely enjoy this tour.
This is a place we love to take out of town visitors, so unusual. Guided walking tour lasts about an hour and 15 minutes. If you physically have trouble with stairs you may want to relax up top while the rest of your party goes. There is a zip line also but not open for the season now (mid May)
This was awesome. A good amount of walking. But if you like history its worth it.
Paige is the best tour guide!! This tour lets youj experience an amazing piece of American history first hand up close...(Dont touch the walls! Lol)
Cool tour and full of history and information.
Went in, not expecting much... Left very satisfied and educated
Great guided tour and history lesson. About a 1 mile hike with stairs and an underground boat ride. You will get a little bit wet.
It was honestly extremely stupid. Waste of money and the boat ride was soo short. I would not reccomend it.
Jason was a great guide. Good with kids.
Such a neat thing to have in Lockports back yard. Theres a lot of history and fun to be had here.
What an amazing field trip. It was so fun but really educational, planning to do it again this coming spring
First off, it should be called Lockport plenums not Lockport caves. A short walking tour, a little bit of history about the factories that no longer exist and only footings remain, view of the penstocks that the plenum used to supply water that powered the factories, and finally up into a penstock for the cave tour. Although not a cave it is a carved cave like passageway used to funnel massive amounts of water to power mechanical equipment in the factories. We found it fun and interesting to tour. We enjoyed our tour and didnt regret it for one moment even though we were nowhere near any caves. However our interest is industrial facilities, industrial history and sites and the remains of sites such as this if this . If this is your interest, you can give this place at 5 otherwise if 3 is probably optimistic.
Went on the Halloween tour, it was really fun, our guide (Tara I think?) was really fun and knowledgeable. Definitely worth it.However, there should be a warning about the fog machine that is used during the Halloween tours, it can trigger asthma issues for some people, and there was a whole lot of it.
Short, (about an hour) but informative tour of whats basically a short tunnel, not really a cave at all... The boat ride is just a short trip through the rest of the tunnel (which is just wide enough for this boat -- its purely for effect.Learned a lot about the history of the area, but not much else. It was a fun short stop for the kids, but if youve been in any real caves, not very interesting...
One of the most amazing tours Ive ever been on! Our guide Paige was very knowledgeable and a great speaker. Weve been telling everyone about this. Kids loved it. Be prepared to walk and some may be claustrophobic in the cave.
