I was greatly amazed at the amounts of historical information regarding Idaho. While there, author Dick Southern was having a book signing for 2 books he wrote HALFWAY STAGE STOP & THE BIG SCHOOL ON A HILL. All proceeds donated to the museum. I purchased a set as a gift for a family member who is interested in the history of Idaho.
With a little amount of entry fee, this small museum provides a really good educational experience for the whole family. It is a nice place to spend time in Lewiston ( around 1 hour). In addition to the artifacts, the kids can also enjoy exploring the old typewriter or work on the big puzzle in the center.
Great exhibits. Read about Abraham Lincoln and Lewisyy on sign by parking lot. I really enjoyed visit.
Great place to learn about nez perce nice people.
Check out the history that has occurred locally. Educational for anyone living here. Students from LCSC have worked hard on the new displays and put together great information.
Interesting information about the history of the area. We also went to get pictures from a photographer whose familt donated all of his negatives. $5 for the packet of negatives and proceed go to the museum. Such a great idea, and we found some from my great grandparents.

This is a very small museum with limited historical items. Most of the displays are written stories of Lewiston Idahos history.
Small building but a fun place to take the family. Interesting historical facts. Worth checking out.
Great place to learn about the history of the valley
Great displays and friendly staff. Thank you.
Very interesting smaller museum with a lot of Nez Perce Chief Joseph information as well as the development of the whole area. Next door is an 1896l house with a square grand piano that the original dentist owner brought from the east coast around the horn to San Francisco, then dissembled and brought by oxen team to Lewiston. When he moved his practice 80 miles up the Snake River, it was dissembled and moved by wagon to the new house. Three years later, the same thing back to Lewiston. The finish is original and unmarred and it is pitch perfect. By the way, the rest of the house is pretty neat too.
A really fascinating tour of local history
This museum has great local history and helpful staff to answer questions you may have. They also have hands on stations that both children and adults can enjoy.
