This was a wonderful hike. The falls are gorgeous and the hike wasnt too strenuous. There were some steep areas (mainly the steps) and due to it being very wet there was quite a bit of mud and slippery places. Overall this is 100% a place I would go again!

Loved this fall!!about 1 hour 40 minutes from Portland but its worth the trip. Plus you can cross the street and see Royal Terrence Falls. Majestic falls is a little harder because there are lots of stairs but I loved there were lots of area to play in the water or just sit and relax. Parking is free. Is good to get there early to avoid the crowds

Beautiful place awesome views of waterfalls theres a couple you can walk down and get some really good photo shots photo ops there was a family there that was down taking some like silly photos to make it look like they were holding the waterfall in their hand the only negative thing I can say is there was a gentleman working on the steps while I was there and it was one of the steps going up there was no other way around and he had taken I think three steps off so we had to wait until he actually hammered those all back on before we can leave but you know Im glad they were replacing the steps because you know who wants to fall so its a great place theres picnic tables up top and then there was a hiking trail on the other side of the bridge

I grew up in Salem and had never heard of this place. My kids loved it! So many small swimming holes. Can get down to the waterfall. Dog friendly.

Only complaint is its not marked very well. The trail with the sign leads you basically back to the road and the turn that leads to the parking lot by the falls is not marked at all

Really gorgeous. Somehow we didnt know about this place, though I was born and raised and my partner and I are avid hikers. We went in late February and it was icy on the trail in parts. I am looking forward to returning when the weather is warmer.

Nice, relaxing, little loop hike. I started at Lower McDowell Creek Falls and and looped up past Terrace Falls, then on to Majestic Falls. I highly recommend crossing the bridge below Terrace Falls and heading along the loop trail in that direction. If you loop the other way you have to accend a stone stairway that adds quite a degree of difficulty to your trek, but if you are looking to get your heart rate going, then by all means... Of course, if you want to get the views without any work at all, you can simply head back to your car after viewing Terrace Falls, and drive up the road a bit to reach Majestic Falls.

Its very lovely, impressive. Dangerous though. Its easy to get right up to the edge..so parents be aware. Also the stairs going down are natural Stone . Making it all the more dangerous. Its a gem that says go away.

We really enjoy this hike, the trail is very well maintained and the waterfalls are very pretty. We took our two young kids with us (2/4) and they were able to walk the whole loop with us no problem. I think it was just under a two mile loop to see all the falls and theres really only one area by majestic falls where you lose all your elevation, then one spot by Royal terrace falls that you gain it all back. I would say its an easy hike and well worth it for the scenery.

Nice family hike. You dont actually have to hike if you just want to see the Majestic Falls. Best time to go if you want to see the falls with a lot of water is Spring. You may be disappointed if you go July through early October as we dont get much rain.

I have been to McDowell Creek in the winter and the summer. It is beautiful year-round. I have taken my dog who is a beagle and he didnt have any trouble going up and down the stairs or hiking in the wooded area path. Very easy to find your way and not get lost. There are three different entry points with parking lots and you can go around the entire Park from any of them. The only thing I would caution is the steps there are a lot of them and they go quite a ways so you would need to be healthy enough to climb them. I believe the trail is 1 1/2 miles. The stone step path can be bypassed if you dont want to take that way and they are tall steps.
