Nice, flowy trail with a couple good turnoffs to make the ride how you want it. Enough elevation change to give you a workout without being too technical.
As of August 4th, the trail is completely closed. Two weeks ago about half the trail was closed with a loop created at the midpoint. On my ride then, even on the open section, the river bank was within an arm length in places. Hopefully new trail can be created after this years water events are over to reconnect the remaining. The Levee Trail is still open. There is a lot of work to be done here and at Clinton Lake before mountain bikers can hit the trails.
I love it because its outdoors all the wildlife and people enjoying the surroundings I like cycling on the trails and down the Levee to! :-)
Nice trails. 3/4 of it are easy to moderately difficult, and a small portion of the mud creek area is difficult. Overall it is an enjoyable trail throughout, but check the weather before you go because when the trail is muddy it is not fun at all.
One of my favorite natural areas in Lawrence! Scenic and peaceful.
Fun, if somewhat boring, ride. Watch for hikers and runners on those blind corners.
Great place to ride or hike.
Beautiful, well maintained, fun for all ages trail
Excellently maintained trails right off downtown -
Good friends, good times, love the riverfront parks. Excellent trails for mountain biking..
Pleasant trails. Nice place close to town but not at all crowded.
Great riding. Worried about sidewalk by river near boat house.
Very maintained!
Lots of fun to walk the river trail
We love the river trails! Havent been this year due to the weather and flooding, but hoping to get back next year and get back on the trails. Worth the drive.
Great trails. Many to choose from, so variety is there if you choose to frequent. Loved the rails and concrete pathway for inclined areas!
Nice trails but to many shady guys in the bushes looking for other shady guys in the bushes!
These are some of the best hiking trails in the area. It is a lot of fun with awesome ups and downs, twists and turns. Then you throw in the beautiful grandeur of the Kansas River.
Best flow in the area. Cant wait for the whole trail to open.
These are great for solid trail biking, or hiking. Just pay attention to the signage on which direction to walk (on foot or bike). The trail is just big enough for single file, so there is some stepping around as bikes go one direction, foot the other, so that there is plenty of visibility.
Wonderful place to bike ride and run on the trails, right next to the beautiful Lawrence river. They also have a pull up set and dip set to exercise. You can also go down to the river and fish. Very nice place for exercise and exploration and even relaxation.
Great way to spend 90 minutes on a beautiful day!
Beautiful! Right next to the Kansas river. Great views.
Great place to ride. Some more accomplished riders need reminders to slow and announcepassing on left especially when passing children at road bike speeds. Over all good place to ride
Great foliage
It was really fun, boardwalk is still closed though.
Cant visit this place too often. The main trail is about 8.1 miles. There are several cutoffs so you have a few options to avoid doing the entire loop. There are also a couple additional loops. Do the Sugar Loop if you are up for a challenge. They recently added some nice signs that help you navigate the forks. Buddy system and helmet advised especially if youre new to the trail. It starts out fairly simple but near the loop back gets a little more technical. Most riders can handle this trail. Be aware of faster riders and move over for them. Runners go in the opposite direction as riders so watch for them as well. Use your best judgement... If its too muddy postpone your ride.
Great place for a long run on a soft surface!
Amazing ... You have to live the experience
Love the peace and quiet..only sounds of the planet.
Great local trail for bikers and hikers. Please note that the trail is directional and is closed when wet/muddy. Good for beginner cyclists but also fun on a gravel/cyclocross bike.
Always enjoy the trails, unfortunately a good portion of the trails on the back end were closed due to flooding.
The levy trail has been a favorite place for me to ride bikes, walk the dogs and a combination the 2. I enjoy the level trail, nice people and views of farms and nature along the river. My only area of improvement would be to have more shaded areas along the way while its so hot out, but my guess is trees on the actual levy probably lead to other potential problems for levy failure and flooding.
I had a great run
Great trails for riding or running! Like a dirt rollercoaster.
Rugged nature trail.
Cannot say enough good things about the place. The people who maintain it are top notch.
These trails are a great place to get away from the traffic of Lawrence to run. Well maintained and not too technical.
Some of my favorite walking in the whole wide world. The ground is soft and loamy under your feet and this cushions the landing of every step of the way and I love the contrasting views with the river to one side and a deep forest to the other.
Beautiful walk along the river.
LRT is a great out and back trail, good for quick runs and getting in shape. Not very technical or hilly but plenty switchback practice. Great river views.
Love walking these on cool evenings
Trails were clear and soft today.
Nice easy mountain biking.
Love this trail!
Great place to get into the woods
We were looking for a place to have lunch and relax, and discovered this spot.Still within earshot of a busy town, but far enough away to feel like its in nature this is the start if two trailheads that follow the river path. If I had more time I would have taken a longer stroll down the path. There is a fairly steep boat ramp where boats can be launched for paddling down the river.I was there in early winter. All the trees were naked and the sun was playing hide n seek with the clouds. It was a little chilly and very windy. But lots of natural formations to gawk at and photo opportunities left and right. If you are a mountain biker the trail comes highly recommended. Or as a hiker. Each trail is separate so that hikers and bikers wont crash into each other. I think its a brilliant idea. I spend time on pathways in Topeka and have to scoot aside to allow bikes to pass me. A separate path appeals to me.I cant wait to see the place in the spring time!
Yesssss!
Fun place to walk the dog
Awesome trails, not too technical. Great for speed and beginner rider alike
Great place to walk or bike. Animal and kid friendly.
This is an easy hike and for the most part paved. You will see various wildlife, like deer while hiking on the trails and beautiful views of the Kaw River.
Great beginner-friendly trails. My sons even love to run them with me. Many options for getting your target distance in since there are so many turnarounds. Runners be aware of fast moving bikes!
A great place to ride. Take your time and enjoy the scenery or push hard for a good burn.
Its a levy trail so very flat, very accessible trail along the Kaw river.
I dig the trails here, but it kind of sucks to have to constantly stop to let bikers pass on the pretty clearly marked hiking trail. Other than that, its a cool place to hike with a sweet view of the river.
Great place to run. Easy trails if it is your first time running on trails.
Lawrencehonjabam to goq to get a good start on the other day and I cant forgot want 2 3 gumba to goq xx I love the the first first time in a good way I can I just get it i I cant get a
These are the fastest trails I have been on. Pretty much all smooth riding, its like a roller coaster. So fun.
One of the most scenic trails in the region and part of the Lawrence Loop. This section runs along the edge of the Kansas River and always has people walking and biking.
Sweet flows bro
Well maintained trails for jogging/walking and biking.
Great mountain biking trails, well maintained and lots of fun to ride on.
Very nice the kids love it
Good beginner trails but also excellent for me to roll out for a quick ride on some up and down tracks. Not like a hill peddling up and down but this is a little movin and groovin trail. Fun for all skill levels unless you are looking to get technical.
Beautiful sights, peaceful environment, refreshing air and good quality trails.
Fun, quick trails to run by the river.
Great biking walking along nice trail
Lovely! The best place to run/walk when the weather is nice outside! Really nice view throughout the way!
Nice trails to mountain bike or run
Spent Earth Day planting trees here!
Well marked and kept clear of down trees.
Perfect walk
Best CX riding in the Midwest
Great trail fast rollercoaster ups and down quick turns very good for beginners
Beautiful trails
Liked it,!
Tuesday! Place to walk or bike!
If you plan on bringing a bike here make sure youre prepared to deal with goat heads.
Cool stuff.
Fun!!
You need to go to here.
First trail I have ben on and it was a blast
