Its a fun visit, but mostly the same exhibits with few updates. Suggested contribution was $7, but since its a college campus, I dont know what the money supports. The taxidermy is falling apart, and the mural behind them is faded. Love the fossils in the basement.

Great collection, extremely clean, friendly staff! Much more rare pieces than youd expect from such a nondescript museum on a college campus. My fiance and I had a great time and my four year old daughter was engaged and fascinated for our whole 3 hours through the museum!

As a new father, I love this place even more for the excitement I get when I think about taking my son here someday. Such a treasure of a museum—a policy of “donations requested, not required” means so many more people, people who otherwise might not, get to experience our geological history.

I love everything about this place. Thats why I volunteer. Its a great place to spend your time. So many amazing displays, along with regularly occuring events to help you learn more about science, and to help get kids involved.

This museum was stunning in its size and quantity of natural specimens. The decor and lighting greatly complimented the exhibits. This museum has been expertly curated and we ended up spending much more time taking everything in standing in open-mouthed awe. This is seriously a fantastic museum, a must-see.

An extremely educational place with much to learn. More then can be taken in in a day. The elevator was out when we visited, but a minor issue. During school during the week, close in parking wont exist. The museum is free, although the suggested donation comes across as a mandatory entry fee. Worth the visit and well be back to the KU campus as there are many other attractions to visit

With its low-ceilinged galleries, taxidermies & fossils behind glass, and little natural light, this is really a natural history museum of the last century (you can see their attempts to instill new blood here and there, though). The dioramas are not bad but the lighting doesnt make them stand out or feel immersive.Despite its showing age, this museum manages to pack a lot of information in a space that feels a bit compact. Admission is contribution-based. I wont suggest your going out of your way to visit this place, but it is certainly worth a stop if you are in town.

Review №33

You can get though the whole museum in about 30 mins. It was a lot smaller then I expected. Some of the exhibits were ok. Almost exclusively Kanasas animals which is understandable being in Kansas. Over all though was disappointed was told it was the best meusem in Kansas. If that is the case then Kansas lives up to its stigma of being a small time state.

I had lived in Lawrence with access to this museum for two years before going. I am so glad I finally had opportunity. I was only able to go through two floors and I was amazed at both what was housed there as well as what is actually present in Kansass history. Well worth the visit and great interactive moments for kids (or kids at heart) too.

This is a free museum, but they do appreciate a donation from visitors. The suggested amounts are $7 for adults and $4 for kids. For a campus museum this is quite large. Four floors with lots to see and interactive stations for young kids. On the entrance level there are at least the different scavenger hunt check lists that kids can do.
