I am Class of 07 and I recommend this school to any student who wants to strengthen their craft and carry it on long past high school and college. I love this school--many of my best memories happened here! At LVA you never felt out of place or the need to fit in with the cool kids because everyone was cool everyone was LVA Fam; no need to form clicks or groupees or whatever and that is what I loved the most about this school, everyone was LVA Fam--we all got along and supported each other.
Highly recommend! My son Jacob Hebdon went here and was in the Film Department. Did you know their film department is known throughout the U.S. as being the premier school for film production? Jacob was the skills USA and took the Gold for all of the U.S. competing schools. This school regularly produces top talent! If your son or daughter really enjoys film production and has a talent.. definitely enroll them here!
Nice teachers, nice students, one main problem. EVERYONE IN THIS SCHOOL IS OVERLY SENSITIVE! If ya like free speech and having your own opinions welp this place isnt for you. Say anything at all that isnt PC and BOOM DEANS OFFICE! It doesnt even need to be directed at anyone. If some little snowflake hears you say something they dont like boom your in trouble.
Wonderful conditions and the conductor assisting the 7th and 8th grade students during practice was brilliant. What an amazing experience. The high school students at the guitar ensemble were supreme! Incredible show last night very impressed with the Middle School kids. I would give it five stars. However, the directions were very confusing for a few of us. Overall it was wonderful.
My girlfriends son is a student here and the atmosphere and energy from the students that I see is amazing. Their attitudes are always positive and their interjections amongst each other are like family. The talent from these kids are top notch and their college and job placements are incredible.
In terms of arts there is no better in the city. But in recent years as of posted of course, there have been a number of scandals in which some teachers have been unable to voice their opinion and see the necessary change that they would like to see. My only hope is that Las Vegas becomes the capital of arts for students in Nevada. At the current moment they are not at that point given the amount of favoritism that happens in many of these programs. (To be fair its always going to be a funding issue especially in Nevada given our lack of funding for public School systems.) But theyre getting to where they need to be and that should mean something for the future.
My daughter is very happy she transferred here so that makes me happy obviously.
Its a High Class Christian School. Training given for your futures Carrier also.
Nice place. It was an honor to present my #HIPHOP workshop and teach here. Thank you!
This school is kind of 50/50. I was a visual arts major here for 4 years. The art program...is pretty good. I do really think you can benefit from it tremendously. Mabel knows what shes doing for sure. It all depends on learning style. As for the staff, I can confirm all the awful reviews about the staff and higher ups. I personally had been punished when I stood up to a student who called me homophobic slurs. The student in question was pampered and got away with only a slap on the wrist, and later even went on to further escalate and assault other classmates. The staff is case-by-case where some of them are really understanding, while others are vile creatures. Had an English teacher pick on me so much due to her political beliefs that she actually tried to fail me. I complained to the staff and LVA did what they do best: nothing! I really think the students here could flourish so much more than they already do if there was a bit more empathy from the staff. Because some of the kids here truly are in danger more than one would think.
This place is AWESOME! Its very unique and artistic. I hope my daughter makes it and is able to attend such a wonderful school. If you have kids interested in the performing arts I greatly recommend Las Vegas Academy for Performing Arts.
I am Sooooo Impressed With This School. I would love to see Danielle go to this. Someone with disadvantages like ADHD/ADD. She is on Medications And does WELL. She Loves To Draw, Ballet, Tumbling, This summer she is going to start singing lessons and learning how to play the piano that helps with focusing I would love to see her on this its like when my son went into the Marines he had ADHD/ADD, NEVER MEDICATIONS, it was at Home, School he would miss 2 wks, Come back, and Aces everything. He was bored, The Marines Change Him in To A Strong Man And Going Strong. My Other 5 kids are all on medication. Without it, they would be like my first born. Trouble. I am on medication too. STRUCTURE. STRUCTURE AND KNOWING YOU HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES, That You Can Loose Your Spot. PRAYERS
We are excited to have our child attend this amazing school of arts. 5 stars indeed.
I am very grateful that my kid has the opportunity to attend LVA. Thank you for all you do!
My daughter enjoys visual design and teaching is top notch.
I was a bit hesitant to have my daughter attend LVA. Its downtown, so I was worried about location and safety; its also an arts school, so I was worried about the quality of education outside the arts. My daughter loves the school! The students are surprisingly accepting, shes been very happy there, the education is great, and she gets to follow her passion. Im pretty conservative, and Ive grown to really appreciate this school. Id highly recommend it!
Love to see the talent produced by the Arts Academy its an awesome place to see great performances
Great experience for the new and young upcoming stars! Keep an eye out for a Peyton
A great place to learn more about Vegas and Enjoy The things offered.
A public high school in Las Vegas that requires auditioning to get in. They offer majors in various arts such as guitar, mariachi, jazz, choir and symphony. Theater, dance, film and visual arts majors as well. The only school in the district that has an hour lunch! Performances are happening weekly with very reasonable prices for attending. You should go downtown some Friday at 6:30 to catch a 7:00 performance that will really be impressive from this local high school. 8th st and Clark. Hope to See you there!!!
I had such a great experience here throughout my four years of high school. Most people here are extremely arts orientated and fun to be around. You’ll definitely make friendships that will last you a lifetime, while at the same time doing what you love and advancing you skills in your chosen major
I go to this school and its the best school I have EVER attended. I have been to other 5 star schools and still this one blows the others out if the water. Im grateful every day to be there surrounded by teachers who seem to really enjoy teaching and talented students who actually want to be there.
Great as always. One thing suggestion, they ought to offer snacks, and flowers like they do for school activities. Both the school and the visitors would benefit from it.
My Son attends the school and really enjoys it! He is a dance major.
Look cool, I am an EMT I ran a 911 call there, the building is nice
Amazing school, my son was a Jazz major there
This used to be Las Vegas High School, where my dad graduated in 1942. Took him to visit for his 77th reunion
The school itself has a great educational system, but the buildings are very run down despite being a functioning high school (though this is to be expected of a historical monument) Lots of homeless people walk around the campus, some of them drunk or high on some sort of drug. Definitely isnt the safest place and gives a false sense of security with the multiple buildings on campus, seeming to be an enclosed spot from the rest of the area. Lots of paraphernalia can be found here. Although the students are nothing to worry about. During school sessions the campus is typically monitored well. The area overall just isnt safe after dark.
Very nice staff. Surely a place I would love my kids to attend.
Amazing school, teachers and staff. Never knew a kid could love high school this much! My son LOVES going to school every day.
Even though the buildings are old, the curriculum and staff are up to date.
Really great school. I cannot say enough good things about the teachers and quality of the education.
Acoustically Sound Theater, beautifully designed to allow the audience to hear every note clearly and well Amplified, I look forward to the next performance
Lovely school. All the majors seemed very friendly. (Went there on a field trip from DSA). Definitely would LOVE to go again!
My daughter absolutely loves her school. The classes (honors and AP) are top notch. Definitely not a school that you can come to mess around. Most of the kids worked hard and passed some sort of audition or test in order to attend so they have a similar mind set and are here to learn. I am a happy mom and proud that my daughter attends LVA. I know she is getting a great education.
Awesome, loved it tremendously. I recommend everyone go there.
This school is horrible. I went here for 3 years and left my senior year. When I went back to speak to a teacher about college oppurtunities, the metro police were called because I was a “threat” and “harassing” students. AKA my friends. This place is a joke and you shouldn’t feel safe at this school due to the horrible staff and administration except Mr. Walker he is a great guy. Everyone else especially the dean make this school horrible.
I really hope I get into this school. I just auditioned in January and the atmosphere was so welcoming and it was very professional-like. The students are so nice and helpful and they helped take some nerves off before my audition. I will update my review if I get into the school.
This is my daughters first time applying to any magnate school. The nearly three month process was thoroughly explained from the initial open house to the application, workshop, through todays final audition. We are both excited and elated with everything we have read, heard and seen thus far.
An amazing school providing an excellent education including specialised introduction in a variety of different arts. My daughter has attended LVA for years and she loves it. There is virtually no bullying, as the student who attend really want to be there. It is not an easy school as the curriculum is challenging. However it is the best way to prepare your child for the real and equally challenging world.
Great school for my kids
Both daughters went here. Excellent school, but showing its age
Always a great show!
I have just had a program at my school that informs and allow us to hear about schools from students and staff. The school seems to offer all the arts(from music to visual). It dont offer sports, but with all the arts youll stay occupied.Since the academy is in downtown Las Vegas(The Strip)you will never be to far from food if youre hungry. The only reason im giving the school is the traffic you will be in. on the way to the school.
Our family loves this school and every thing about it!
This is great my son goes here hes such a good artist thanks to them
Great school and one of the best locations ever I think
This school is one of the best! I absolutely love being a student here!! #lvavocal21
This school used to be beautiful and now it is absolutely horrendous. The administration is crooked and doesn’t care for the well being of the students. The things I have heard and seen between abusive teachers and students has been absolutely horrendous. The school goes out of their way to cover their ass because if the true events of what goes on in this school were to get out, they would be crucified. Scott Walker is a walking idiot. An absolute joke.
Now im not sure if ill get in but it seems great and grand
My sister goes to school here. Very great and prestigous school. Friendly and fun area as well.
Great
Its pretty close to Hogwarts as far as how amazing it is. I am thankful my daughter is starting her freshman year here!!!
This is a great school. Traching the modern and old music and theater. With a great art music and theater department. This is a top of the line school.
The administrator is so sweet!! She took the time to tell us everything she knows, her assistant too!
Don’t confuse the talent with the quality of the school. The surface of Las Vegas Academy is seemingly nothing but a performing arts school with tremendous amounts of talent all throughout. Now, the staff quality is absolutely trash with the exception of a few teachers here and there. Overall, students should not ever feel belittled or degraded by a teacher in any situation. The academic aspects of Lva are more than questionable. The majority of their students dread waking up to attend such an absurd curriculum & corrupt staff.
My daughter and our family have quickly fallen in love with LVA. The teachers and administrators all seem to be in love with LVA too.
One of the best high schools in CCSD--safe environment, rich magnet program, strong academics. These kids are talented!
Great school for kids who want to perform in any of the arts
My daughter had a cast on her leg for over 3 months, she was denied a 504 plan, instructors complained about having to provide accommodations for her, her orchestra teacher gave her an F because she couldnt sit up properly due to her cast- thank goodness a doctors directives for sitting with her leg elevated forced that teacher to change the grade. The ONLY people who had any kindness and consideration for her were the custodians. They gave her rides in their carts to get from building to building so she wouldnt have to juggle crutches, backpack, and violin.
A Fantastic school who accepts everyone and there is a great sense of community. You can make a friend any where and when. The academics can be difficult but though a challenge you can grow at an accelerated rate because of it.
Great Academy
The students there are friendly and helpful with dancing and the coach was amazing at all the dances
My daughter goes here
I got into lva for dance and this school changed my life. There are many other majors as well.
Great school! The staff and faculty at the school really impressed me.
Best school in Las Vegas vegas
My experience with this school and the administration was very bad. The hippie attitude and drug culture of the students was prevalent. The dean (a former Spanish teacher with no administrative experience) and principal turned a blind eye. Luckily, I left after 1 year and moved to a school that motivated me to succeed.
Honestly Ive came across some wonderful, unique people. As for education its pretty average. However I dont favor the bougie vibe I get from the school as in aspiring to be better than everyone else since its a magnet program. Besides that if you have tough skin and arent blinded by the whole perfect place bs then go ahead.
Thats my schoooooooooooooollll
Thanks to teachers and students Im having a great year as a high school freshman. I thought I would be fresh-meat on the first day ;).
Great school- You have to audition to get in. Really nice grounds as well.
As a student, I feel this place has been the best high school to go to if you want to have a more meaningful high school experience.
First of all, all of the people that said rude things about LVA need to sit down and get there life together. This is one of the best schools in the valley. You had to work your butt off to get in this school. I love how everyone gets to show there art ad all the different majors. The teachers are great. This are school is a college prep school.....no matter who or what you are you are loved gay or not..... so those of you guys that said some pretty rude stuff about the school needs to shut up especially if you go to the school. Maybe you should try to make a change in the world instead of sitting on your couch eating Cheetos while everyone else is trying to get into the colleges that they want to get into and have a successful life... to me you are just jealous and dont feel like trying. Someone else would love to have your spot in LVA....so maybe you should step along and let someone else become successful... sorry but you had your chance and you just ruined it..Im sorry if you didnt like the school but i think its amazing and so does everyone in it.
Im an 8th grader in mike OCallaghan middle school and Im really looking forward to going to this school. Im in advanced choir and show choir. Ive also been singing my whole life. I get along with many people and when I see an opportunity I take it.
Very Professional but veryexperiene
I love the performances.
Amazing Theater performances. These kids are good!
These kids are excellent performers for being so young
Always love the shows
C/O 1998, Great Education and still is. Son is C/O 2015 It has great social and academic on top of being the best in the arts.
This magnet school is the best Arts andPerformance in Nevada .The academics areexcellent, very diverse
Great play. Way too cold had to get a blanket and was still cold.
A great school for students who are advanced in the performing arts
One of the best schools in Clark County--education is top notch as well as the arts programs. The students rival even that of professionals. They are hard-working and the school has never had any student fights, ever. They are usually accepting of their peers, although the student body tends to lean on the liberal side and can be judgemental to those who are devout in their faith or tend to have conservative views. That was my only gripe about it. Other than that, I wouldnt trade my overall experience here for anything else.
My sons girlfriend goes to school here their program is excellent
Always top notch performances to be seen here. I highly recommend attending.
I love this school, its so pretty and the design is wonderful!
Great school and representative of every culture.
Best school in town
Im in love with LVA. Yes, we have our ups and downs, but look at Harvard? The harder the school is the more stressed the students are thats going to lead to some bad things happening. Its a college ready school. Dont cry when we tell you its going to be hard.
They have gubernatorial Canidate Steve Sisolak into their school to indoctrinate kids on politics. Don’t send your children here!
It is a great school with many opportunities.
The shows are the best Ive seen, especially by students.
My daughter is a junior this year at this school and is a flute band major in V2. For her freshman and her sophomore year, band was amazing at this school! But, this year it has gone way way way down hill because of the new director Mr. Seaton that they just got this year. The new director is very disorganized, and my daughter has told me many things about him that she does not like such as, disrupting her playing exam when somebody came in the classroom, and giving her an F. Its a shame. She used to really love band when they had Dr. Biles.
