Such a wonderful place to go if youre in the Plaza/downtown area! Its free to enter and they change out some of their exhibits every so often so its fun every time you go. The art side has phenomenal work in it, and the museum side has beautiful creatures as well as fossils and interactive components, making it great for kids AND adults.

I frequently come here from personal visits to work and I throughly enjoy coming here. This would be a great place for families to come to. Donations are taken and go to keeping the place running. The exhibits here are beautiful and well kept. The staff here are friendly and encourage you to take you time and look around. Its in a nice place downtown and there are many other places to look at nearby. Worth a stop in to look around even if its just a quick visit.

Very impressive North American diorama collection of nomads, animals, dinosaurs and trees. Learn about extinct animals or animals on the extinct list. This museum is very small but packed with good stuff related to the region. Its very well curated and fun for kids and adults to move through. Its connected to two other free museums. With free parking theres no reason not to check this place out if youre in town. It wont take you too long to go through them all.

I wished I could be here every day! I took the grandkids for the afternoon, we had a fun time building a satellite and testing it. We enjoyed the room with the large planet that changed colors as we interacted with it. Museums have changed since I was a kid. Hands on fun is always a great way to learn and appreciate culture.

While small in size there were several well done exhibits that spark the whole familys curiosity. You could quickly stroll through or take the time to get into both the live animal exhibits and interactive tech based displays. Good for a 60-90 minute exploration. FREE too! Their almost non-existent website and social media do the museum a disservice. Art museum is also connected to this facility and Free.

One of the exhibits had a plack stating the rattle snake was taken somewhere else in 2012. Its 2020 and the aquarium was still empty. The toddler time was ok. It did not engage the kids at all. The parent was left to really do the teaching. My daughter lived the dinosaurs.

This museum is about looking and understanding—looking up to the stars, looking out to the desert, and looking down to see ancient fossils. There are three primary permanent exhibits: Desert Life, Permian Trackways, and Light & Space exhibits.

Solid place to take kids in Las Cruces. Went with my daughter and got a chance to play and see some wildlife thats very endemic to the area, which is nice since theres not a lot of wildlife to see. Folks at tbe museum were helpful. Only thing to keep in mind is that its pretty small, so keeping a kid entertained there for longer than 90 minutes might be tough. Lots of other things nearby.

This is an awesome museum that the City of Las Cruces provides. Granted it isnt on the scale of a childrens museum or a dedicated science museum, but it does touch on a lot of subjects in a very small space. They have astronomy, topology, fossils, love animals found in the area, dead animals found in the area, and at times host certain events mostly for children. They are attached to the Art museum complex as well and are across a courtyard from the Branigan Cultural Center. All of these museums are free but also accept a pay what you think we are worth donation system. Its well worth at least five dollars. Dont go expecting the world, and youll have a great time.

This is pretty good Museum. Since its government-run much of the active displays are non-functional. But the static displays are usually pretty good, and do rotate enough to make a bi yearly visit worthwhile, for children. There is usually at least something new every other year that might be of interest to adults.

It was between exhibits; I cant give a fair acessment. I was there for a photography workshop.Good session lead by a local artist grad student. From looking at the spaces the museum has, I believe it should be reasonable for accessibility .Elevator to the second floor. No major architecture barriers that I recognized.I look forward to going back for future exhibits. One warning... The traffic pattern outside was disrupted by street improvements. Check before you go ... Not sure how long that mess will last.

Many of these review are for the ART MUSEUM, not the Nature and Science Museum. As for that little gem, it is no longer kid friendly. A few turtles, magnets, and a globe screen. The dinosaur dig pit has been out of commission longer than its been usable. The toddler times/educational stuff they do is a coloring page and a streaming show. No is allowed to make noise, walk happily, or enjoy their time. Even though its free, I cannot say that its worth taking the time to go.

The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science is a great place to take children for an outing. The museum is free, and they have some hands on activities. My grandkids enjoyed their day there. The Art museum is connected so you can also view some great art after you visited the Nature and Science Museum and the Art Museum is free too. They do have donations boxes in both areas so drop a few bills to keep these museums in our community.
