What a surprise, this is a hidden gem! Paths are available so a great place to take a brisk walk. Benches to sit and enjoy the view, the lake/pond etc. Actual buildings moved to the site with information, concerts too! Love that its free and open year round!
Very nice early morning walk among the beautiful lakes and paths. There is a bird viewing deck along the way, so serene!
Ive been to a handful of concerts and events like the recycling fair etc. here. Its a great location - not just because its in my neighborhood, but also because theres many other parks and schools etc. nearby as well as all the government buildings, making it a central location. I have enjoyed all the events and the history of the facilities, though small, is cool. The outdoor ampitheatre is a great place to see concerts in the summer, and often during events the park is putting on as well. Theres a small restaurant and a few other recently added shops.Im not sure if the trails at the back of the park that lead to the walking and horse riding trails are considered part of this same park or a separate one. Either way, they are gorgeous. You would never know it but theres a lake right about .5-.75 miles down the trail. I love horseback riding and though I dont own any horses anymore I may have to look into a trail riding company just to ride those trails sometime, the scenery is serene and breathtaking, and pops up around a corner out of nowhere. The trails go for quite a long ways I believe. My partner and I saw doves, a massive turtle (like 50-60lbs!), rabbits, wonderful water/fish eating birds, and more. Definitely will be returning!
Fun outdoor music venue. The concert had 2 bands with food trucks, beer vendors, games and free parking. Plenty of Porta Pottys that were clean and small area to wash hands. They also had chairs if you needed some. You can bring your own food and.have a picnic on grass. Super chill time with food, family and friends.
Beautifully spacious! A good park near the hills. A good spot to chill and enjoy the landscaped vistas
Went to Cider Days this last weekend, and it was a lot of fun! We saw the trick dogs/hogs. Best funnel cake Ive ever had, from Funnelicious. Got a free massage, and my sons (and I) rode the choo-choo train. There were burro rides, blacksmithing presentations, crocheting, chair caning, a petting zoo, a magic show, trick dogs, trick hogs, tractor pulls, plenty of food, face painting, games and venders. And of course, there was cider! Everything apple. Will go back next year! Was fairly ADA accessible, huge, well-cared- for sidewalks, plenty of porta Johns, and they had a water bottle filling station that came up out of the ground. Very cool. It was set at 3 levels, so it was inclusive. The only draw back is that certain areas are grass and others are gravel. For anyone who has trouble with balance, irregularities in the ground, or is in a wheel chair, this may prove difficult for you/them.Get a map of the grounds and make sure you can get around on the sidewalks. Its a large grounds, so better to be safe!
I’ve walked in this park for years. It’s the remnant of May Bonfils’ estate from the 1930’s. Love the varied terrain, lakes, and birds here. There are concrete, gravel, and dirt paths. You may even see people riding their horses. There are also older buildings that have been moved here and restored, like an old tiny motel, diner, houses, and other structures that would have been destroyed had they not been moved. The newer building that houses a museum and gift shop is a favorite stop. The museum’s current exhibit is the history of Lakewood, incorporated in 1969, in what was an unincorporated area. Artifacts go back into the 1800’s and cover family farms, water, the tuberculosis hospital, and more. There’s even a Model T Ford on display! It’s free, too. And the gift shop has lots of unique items from local and international sources. I think I found the perfect birthday present there for a friend! During the Summer and Fall, the park hosts festivals and concerts, as well.
Everything there is originally from a location in Lakewood. They moved then refurbished and now open them for special occasions like the Christmas lights. They turned them on and the entire place was lit up real nice! Kids always enjoy the places.
Such a fun place to visit. The mid century museum was an enjoyable history lesson and the displays were really fun to view. I loved the lit neon signs. Walking around in the historic buildings was the best. I felt like I had just walked into a time warp and everything was just as it would have been. That charming little diner, beauty salon and motel were perfect and the 1940’s house I will never forget. There is so much more too. The lake with shady gazebos and nice walking trails. I highly recommend The Lakewood Heritage Center.
Small exibit but interesting!
Had to decide whether I should review the Lakewood Academy of Science OR Lakewood Heritage Center, but I specifically went to a Lakewood Heritage Center event, so it makes more sense to review this rather than the Academy itself. Im sure the vibes are incredibly different, considering Lakewood Heritage Center is 21+ only from 6-10PM and the regular hours are during the day with all ages welcome.
Beautiful place to visit historical place to visit.
Went here for the autumn festival and now we visit to take the dogs for walks. Very pretty
Check out Lakewood lights for the holiday season. This place is absolutely amazing and fun for the whole family
This place is cool. Its got a variety of buildings and items from Lakewoods past and a fun (small) indoor museum. They offer family friendly activities year round. Its pretty big of you take into account the outdoor space. My family enjoyed walking around and checking out the place!
Great outdoor venue for a concert! It is clean and well-maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We also attended a lot of lectures here and they were so nice. This place definitely worth a visit!
Awesome place and people
Its a nice walk, nest historical content clean and quiet.
Took 5th graders on a field trip. All the docents and volunteers were great! Well organized. The site itself is quite beautiful and well- restored. Id love to come back with the family.
We played here with the 101st Army Band and would love to play again! Great venue, great helpful event staff, and we had a blast playing.
The staff is friendly and welcoming. There are interesting and in some cases, interactive exhibits that provide valuable information about local history.
Great Apple Cider festival! Loved that we could buy tickets online and walk in!
The little museum is nicely done. Seating for the wedding party I attended was a bit cramped, but adequate.
They had dancing Christmas trees there how awesome. The trees would walk up to the kids and ask if they were tree huggers lol
Wi- fi and awesome walk
Lovely to walk around. Very pretty. The preserved buildings are an extra bonus.
Good history Museum of Lakewood.
Really enjoyed. Didnt know that was all back there. Look forward to the summer months and maybe festive and music. Good place for photos.
We had a great time at their Cider Days Festival.
Bought season tix for the concert series this summer. What a great little gem that makes Lakewood such a great place to live.
This is a great place for catching Pokemon not to mention the walk around the lake is absolutely beautiful
Great place to walk and see Lakewood history.
I love go to driving my pc to the park
Went to cider days had a good time
The nostalgia that this place evokes is unparalleled. Drawing from the architecture and artifacts of the early days of Colorado, the Lakewood Heritage Center captures the spirit of the founding families of Colorado. A must see for all Coloradoans, and for those who are visiting.
Attended the Cider Apple Festival. Great better, food, and cider!
Went to Cider Days event and was a lot of fun!!!
Always a nice place for a walk.
Excellent History Happy Hour... Colorado Then and Now
I have taken belly dancing and a Latin fusion dancing class here. Both were well taught and affordable. You have the choice to prepay at a slightly discounted rate for the session or pay a drop in fee each time. There are a host of other classes to take here and they often have shows put on in their large auditorium.
What a great place filled with awesome history about Lakewood.
Cute little model town. My only complaint is that youre not allowed to go inside of the towns buildings.
Its a great way to spend an afternoon outside, my 6 year old loves going. Its just sad that the mansion is no longer there.
Lots of history! Great summer concerts
Went to the Christmas tree lighting. Amazing work by everyone involved to get it set up. The live music from the choir was a cherry on top.
Earth Day event the center is a neat place.. worth the walk around to see the sights
You dont see this kind of dinner from the past.love it
Very interesting, love historical location s. Makes you appreciate all the advances weve made
The city of Lakewood is doing a great job saving history. Historical buildings from the 1900s up through the 1990s. Fun place to take the family or walk around alone.
Love the old houses and the little tour of old Lakewood. Christmas light the lights and cider days put on a really nice family event. The belmar park is conveniently located in surrounding area. Its also a great place for walks, runs, jogs and picnics. Heritage center itself has a small but very attractive and educating walk thru display about Lakewood past. There is plenty to do here about any time of year.
Love visiting for Cider Days
Cool place anytime but the Christmas lights festival was wonderful
This place is beautifully maintained.
Great place to meet friends and walk the dogs.
Just a fun place...
Its ok, but they wouldnt give me any Apple Crisp!!!
Now this is cool. Lots of great paths, old historic buildings, flowers etc. The indoor museum is really fun too with rotating themes. This place is a must visit.
Great center for Lakewood information. Also, the restored old West Colfax business buildings are awesome. Making the main sidewalk Colfax with old signage embossed in the concrete is a neat idea.
Out standing place to run, bike and walk. Ive been throughout the displays and find them to be and excellent view into Lakewood s development. A fun place to go.
Great place to go Pokemon hunting
Nice setting and history lesson.
Cool local museum.
Great little museum. The park with the historic buildings is lit for the holidays!

Lots of interesting exhibits
Area way shady now.
Great space, perfect views!
Very cool stop. I love it.
Officiated a wedding ceremony under the outdoor amphitheater. Beautiful location, well kept, and everything was in order before we got there.
Beautiful and nostalgic
I had a great time at Cider Days
Neat little place to visit
Nice walking trails
Nice piece of history.
Good place to visit
It was a great experience
Stop
Cool
Decent.
Funky museum
Great place to visit
Great place!
Poorly assembled, no theme or reason. Little to no explanation as to why these buildings. Seems like a nostalgia collection for aging city council members. No actual history from the early days of the area.
All decorated for the Holidays!
