Been going to Bristlecone for about a year now and they have been with me through my entire pistol buying experience. From renting a few times and trying out 8-10 guns, all the way to the the FFL transfer and training. They have been helpful in picking up guns to shoot, form, and generally friendly as well. Once I purchased my gun I took Intro to Pistol with Cindy and most recently CCW-1 with Steve H and have been very pleased with the training. The instructors have been very helpful with gripping the weapon as well as helping to correct some of the major accuracy issues (my trigger pull is still too fast). I have since become a member and am looking forward to CCW-2 and Tac Pistol classes when I get the chance and can find some ammo...Overall very nice establishment, good people, and very friendly to newbies like myself.
Fantastic facility with excellent instructors. Took an intro to handguns class and the instructor, Steve Mac, made it a very relaxed and fun experience despite my extreme beginner status. Already planning my next lessons!
I signed up for the $99 summer membership and got my first handgun. Every person from greeter, retail counter, and range counter are professional. I took a CC class with Steve H and he did an amazing job. In process to get my CC now. He did a good job to keep the class informative but taught great lessons for the range to improve skill level. Very easy reservation process and RSOs do a great job making sure everyone is following rules and being safe. I highly recommend this place. I also felt more welcomed then most ranges in CO area as some staff are not welcoming.
2 stars because their prices are hard to beat. This includes memberships, rentals, ammo, firearms, etc.I am not a member, and have not had one good customer experience here. Ive seen members come in and get greeted with a smile, but it seems that if you arent a member you get ignored. Also, if you are new to a specific platform and have questions about it, the employees seem irritated that you have questions and are very short and curt in their answers. I even had one employee tell me his shift was over and just walk away in the middle of a purchase! The owner has a nice facility with good prices, but I would dump almost the entire staff and replace with adults. It seems that the kids working there are typical millennials, dont know how to say youre welcome or treat people with respect.
I recently took the Intro to Pistol class at Bristlecone with Steve MacGregor. This class was exactly what I needed. Even as a beginner, I felt comfortable in it. The class is well designed and logical in its approach to handguns. Steve is an excellent instructor. He projected the feeling that he was there for us. He did a nice job of balancing his patience with students with a firmness in matters of gun safety. I feel much more confident since taking this class. I also think that Steve has put me on the path to developing good handgun habits. And while I had not intended to take more classes, when I found out that Bristlecone offered a Basic Pistol Cleaning class, I signed up right away!
Bristlecone is awesome! The staff is super friendly, and they put on cool events. 3 gun haunt was a blast. Cant wait to do some classes
Took my Concealed Class with Felippe and he was awesome! First part was virtual and he made it interactive and interesting, had great stories! The in class part was great. Felippe provided feedback, helped me on my stance, and we had fun as well! Definitely would recommend Bristlecone and this class!
Our experience with the training and the trainers at Bristlecone was superb. Steve H and Pancho were thoughtful, informative and instilled confidence and a desire to return for more learning and practice. Its a lovely facility and if all their trainers are like these two, well, were taking more classes! The facility cares for everyone from a seasoned owner to a first-time buyer, and treats them all with respect.
I took a conceal carry training course with Travis last week and he did a wonderful job with the class. He was welcoming, knowledgeable, and funny! We had a wide variety of firearms experience among the attendees, and he kept the experts engaged while taking the time to explain terms to the newer people. Our time on the range was personalized, informative, and felt very safe. It’s a half-day class, but it went by quickly! I’m impressed and will definitely be back for more classes and range time.
I took a concealed carry 1 class here with Steve H. as the instructor and I cannot recommend this place and Steve enough! I went into the class knowing barely anything about guns and I left feeling much more confident. They truly made me feel like there was no stupid questions! Everyone I encountered who was working was also very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!
Clean and well lit range and store. Friendly and family oriented. Professional and courteous staff. Terrific training curriculum and instructors and a terrific sense of community. They also really prove every day that they care about their members. Whenever I have a question or issue, Jennifer calls me back immediately. Ive been a member for a couple years now, and its really been a great experience for me and for my family.
I took the Concealed Carry 1 class with Steve H and my experience was excellent! Steve provided the class with genuine and pertinent information about a variety of topics including: safety, technique, law, and scenarios (and many more). As a very beginner in this realm, I felt very comfortable and never felt shame for asking any question. The hands on (range time) was amazing, where you get to try out the techniques you were educated on. Steve H. did a masterful job at reminding you of mistakes without making you feel belittled. I would highly recommend this class to anyone having the slightest curiosity about gun education and look forward to taking more classes in the future!
We love Bristlecone! We have come here a few times for classes (Pancho and Filipp are awesome instructors), and we have visited the range. Pricing is moderate and affordable especially if you are a first-time visitor or taking introductory classes. Every visit has been great because everyone that works there has been welcoming, professional, and helpful.During the classes, they focus on safety, gun use, range protocol, and range time. It seems intimidating at first, if you arent used to being around certain firearms, but they really know how to make you feel comfortable and knowledgeable with them. As we progress and need to increase our firearm skillset, we will be returning to Bristlecone.
Was super excited to go with my daughters to ladies day to get our rifles sighted in for hunting season but sad to find out its only 25 yards. Please extend! We would love to frequent throughout the year if only it was longer :(
Took the Intro to Pistol course with Steve H. He was a knowledgeable instructor with a real commitment to getting a new person started off with the right skills, and a great eye for spotting and correcting the specific issue throwing the students off target. The facility is very nice and the class materials are very professional with a good focus on firearm education and safety.
I was raised around firearms but didn’t have a lot of pistol experience and I can’t recommend Steve H’s intro to pistol for women course enough to first timers or even those who have shot a few times! I was expecting a female instructor but what I got was better- someone who didn’t treat me like a delicate or ignorant female and who gave an interesting lecture and range time. I appreciated that there wasn’t a lot of hand holding but remarks about what we learned and what in our mannerisms or mindset may have changed as we went through our ammo and targets. I can’t wait to go back - often! This is a very safe place to learn and these guys will take care of you.
Outstanding intro to pistol class with Steve H. The whole experience was fantastic from the first part online to the range portion. All the things youd want in an intro to pistol class...knowledgeable and attentive instructor, safe environment and practice, and tangible improvement in confidence and skill due to individualized coaching. I went to US Gun Class for a conceal and carry last weekend and it was horrible. I basically paid for an infomercial to buy from the national conceal and carry association and the instructor wasnt professional. They did refund my money when I sent in feedback, and no one responded to the feedback. That is a huge red flag for me that the organization wants to just refund money and not learn about how to do a class better. Safe yourself some time and just start at Bristlecone. I will continue my training with Steve H. and am excited to know he teaches a number of the pistol classes.
My first experience with this place was great. The first time I walked inside was for the Tactical Pistol 1 class taught by Patch. I may have gotten spoiled in a class that only had myself and one other guy.The class was very well taught, but at a crazy fast pace. It really challenges your brain to process so much new information so quickly. This is NOT an intro to pistol class. You need to have basic handgun skills down before taking this one. They do also have a class for this. With more time on the range to practice what I learned here, I really look forward to Tac Pistol 2.
I was a little nervous about taking a concealed weapons class. All I can say is it was awesome. I was in class with beginners and retired military. Steve M. was our instructor and he was amazing. He treated all of us great and was full of valuable information and patience. I walked out of there with more confidence in handling my gun and a much better aim. I cant wait to take another class!
Bought 2 guns online and picked up in the store that part of the process was a breeze the issues I had was the fact that after I made my purchase and walked thru the door I wished I had bought my weapons somewhere else. Personally as a legal and law abiding black citizen it was a very uncomfortable experience i thought the 2nd amendment right was for everyone so it bewildered me to see and feel the uneasy feelings I felt there. Any transfers or transactions I go anywhere but bristlecone ....... I can’t speak for any other group but I’ll say this black people don’t spend money with them they don’t want or need our business which is cool but let me know before I walk-in .
Top notch facility, top notch instructors. We love taking their classes. Very informative and thoughtful. Great bunch of people, proud to support this business.
I had a training class for concealed carry permit at Bristlecone and I really enjoyed it.Instructor Stephen MacGregor was amazing.I know you can take this class in so many different places, but I would recommend this place, trust me you will like this instructor.
Ive been a member for quite some time and have always been very impressed with the customer service but, the other day Karen H went above and beyond all expectations when it came to solving a problem, not of their doing, with a new piece of equipment I purchased. I want to say thanks to the entire staff for always making my visits great but a huge shout out to Karen for her willingness and patience when it came to solving my delima.
Just took Intro to Pistol class at Bristlecone. Steve H and Pancho were fabulous instructors. The information was concise and we had ample time on the range. Most of us had new firearms and the oversight and coaching was excellent. Thank you Bristlecone!
Very friendly gunsmiths who did great work on rethreading a barrel for concentricity. Looking forward to my next project with the gunsmiths at Bristlecone!
Been in here several time and I always enjoy coming in and checking out everything they have a very nice selection. I’ve been meaning to come check out the indoor range and am excited for that.
Recently moved and due to covid every ID issuing agency has months waiting time. Tried purchasing a long firearm as I understand it’s a different and easier procedure than a handgun. The guy on the phone told me it was possible but straight up not worth their time. I rarely encounter unprofessional people but today was my lucky day with this gentleman. Probably a good store and their inventory seemed solid from their website but after this experience I rather buy Doritos than spend money here. After your reply I must say I understand the policy but if you guys record calls which I don’t think you do, he literally said not worth your time like if I’m spending $20 dollars. It was very insulting to my person, I do appreciate you inquiring about this matter as it offended my person and it’s not good for business.
Customer service on the sales floor is okay at best. The range is great but the people at the range counter and patrolling the range are very rude wannabe operators. A year ago this place was the best but it went downhill completely, will never go back because of how rude that bearded guy with the lord of the rings tattoo was, very micro managing.
Awesome training facility. I’ve taken 2 classes and 1 lesson with Steve H. He is a great instructor, clear, meticulous, friendly and professional. Being new to shooting his style encourages me to practice and improve my skills. The stories he uses in CCW drills really makes you think and drive for accuracy. All the staff is very helpful and experts. I highly recommend the membership but they treat everyone like VIPs.
My sister and I signed up for the intro to pistols with Steve MacGregor and it was great. Steve was not only very knowledgeable but also very patient. My sister was visiting from out of town and wanted to extend her stay just so we could take another class with Steve!! Definitely coming back here.
I took the CCW 1 class at Bristlecone taught by Steve H. I was impressed with the thoughtful and pragmatic approach to concealed carry. The range time was realistic and well thought out. Will definitely consider taking more classes and may even become a member.
Bristlecones conceal carry class is top notch. My first hands on experience with guns in this 5 hour course and I honestly cant believe how much was covered. I left feeling like I knew what I needed to consider and what things I would need to improve, but also quite confident this instructor (Steve H you were great!) and the team and bristlecone would have everything I could ever need here in resources and answers. Definitely planning more classes and more range time. I would recommend everyone exploring to do this class.
I took an intro to pistol class with Steve H. It was such a wonderful experience, and I learned so much! It was the perfect mix of classroom, and range time. Steve was very knowledgeable, and made it really fun to learn. I would highly recommend Bristlecone classes, and plan on taking more classes this summer!
Great experience purchasing a consignment handgun with Bristlecone. Levi, who saw me through the entire experience was knowledgeable, friendly, and let me ask a bunch of questions. I would recommend this place to anyone.
The Intro to Pistol class was just what I needed to gain knowledge and boost my confidence with my new firearm. Steve H was a great instructor and patient with all my questions. Well done!
Great place! Good prices! I bought my 10mm XDM here, the price was lower than I expected.Their range is a lot nicer than the one I went to in wheat ridge.Hopefully Ill be signing up for a CC class here soon.As long as they keep 10mm S&B ammo in stock, and dont raise the price on me, I will keep coming back. I dont plan on buying my ammo anywhere else.
Steve MacGregor is a phenomenal instructor who made the Intro to Pistol class easy to understand, fun to learn, and even more fun to practice. I was incredibly impressed by the way he was able to tailor his class to the individual, regardless of whether or not this was a refresher course for a more advanced shooter or a first time shooter. I highly recommend this class and many other classes to my friends who are interested in learning more about firearms and firearm techniques and safety. Thanks Steve!
Best range in town! The staff is very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I have had many questions during drop-ins and everyone has answered my questions thoroughly. I have been so impressed with all of the staff and have talked to quite a few of the employees by now. Kyle, Kevin, Ryan, Ben and Trevor could not have provided better customer service. Very few classes in the civilian sector compare to the classes offered by Kyle, despite what Jim Roberts the security guard extraordinaire has to say. Pretty sure almost everyone on the staff has more experience than that clown.
I love this place I came at first and bought a gun here and decided to become a member the same day. I was helped by a lovely woman by the name of Karen she knew what she was talking about and was good at her job. My frustration is more about the operations currently. I can respect the Covid rules of engagement these days. But someone doesn’t pay to become a member of an organization only to be treated badly every time they come. I have been here three times in the last two weeks each of these times there were no available reservations however Walk-ins are supposedly available. You’re met with the door attendant only to be relegated to wait outside. There’s a member lounge I remind them. In order to get there I’m escorted (and forgotten) there. Where am I some militarized zone? My question is why be a member when you can’t get in ever. Sure tell me to make reservations days in advance, my life doesn’t work like that. In advance means I have an hour free up...If this range can’t accommodate the members they have perhaps they should evaluate how many you have. At a minimum be cool to them when they come. At this point I am not going back. I’d like my monthly charge back for the past two months and my initiation fee. To bad I really liked this place. It is definitely the nicest range in Colorado! But the range folks are not really making you all look good neither are your military type protocols and behaviors.
Take the Concealed Carry course with Filipp! I grew up with a dad who loves to shoot, but it had been a long time since I actually practiced. Filipp did a great job of giving us practical knowledge and skill, while also providing some refreshers for those of us who arent as familiar or comfortable with handguns. I kind of expected the course to be a lot of filler knowledge that is just stuff you have to know to get the permit, but it was way more practical and definitely prepared us to actually carry a handgun in practice, rather than just in theory.I took the half online, half in-person course, which was perfect. Splitting the class into two portions made it easier to absorb. The range part of the class was really fun and the facility is awesome. Our small class had a range to ourselves so distraction was minimal. Filipp was engaging and cracked lots of jokes, so the class went quickly, but he also made sure to slow down and make sure the more important and serious concepts were imprinted on our minds.Ill definitely be back to take another course or two or three with Bristlecone, and hopefully I can find one Filipp is teaching!
I took an intro to pistol class here with Steve H. and it was fantastic. Extremely detailed and knowledgeable. Very patient and supportive of the class, and made sure we learned proper range etiquette/best safety practices. I enjoyed this class so much, I almost immediately signed up for the Conceal Carry class, and plan on exploring the awesome options for education that Bristlecone provides.Overall, I’m incredibly happy with my experience and I think anyone from an absolute beginner to an advanced level would think this place rocks. And, I totally forgot to mention that the range is incredibly beautiful and clean.
I purchased my first firearm from Bristlecone a few months ago, and my first time in i didnt know to much. Filipp came over and helped talk me through the right firearm and made me feel very comfortable right away when I felt out of my league. I took my first class there last week with Travis and I feel like I learned more than I anticipated and he made it a lot of fun. I frequent the store about once a week and everyone there is more then helpful and will actually take the time to talk you through any purchase, and are extremely knowledgeable on every subject Ive ever had a question on. Whether youre new to the game or looking for something very specific (they usually have it), theres nowhere else Id go at this point. If it was an option Id give them 6/5 stars and honestly cant say enough good things about the staff and the store.
Been in a handful of times for range/rental, retail, a private lesson with Filipp, which was awesome!! He provided crystal clear information, thorough instruction, solid logic, and comprehensive background. He even spent a generous amount of extra time with me to cover more info. Quite reasonable price, in line with a private lesson in anything you can get a lesson in. VERY worth it.Range and sales staff were also great, as was the owner and back office staff who helped undo an online order that I had messed up. Totally my fault and a good bit of work for them to fix it. Really great shop, happy to give them my business!
I have now taken two classes here at Bristlecone and could not be more impressed. Steve H has been a great instructor for both, blending a little dry dad humor with some serious subject matter is the right mix for learning. He has a lot of great experience to share and the learning environment was great. After a long hiatus from shooting on any level these classes have been an awesome way to learn new skills and dust off the cobwebs from old ones.I took the Bristlecone Concealed Carry Fundamentals class which was a mixed format class (virtual online classroom and then live range time) and then followed up with the CCW 2 class which was conducted all at Bristlecone. Great content in both classes with lots of practical knowledge and skills to practice from both classes. I would recommend the first Concealed Carry course to anyone even thinking about carrying concealed or anyone new to firearms that is just curious about it. The classes teaches or refreshes all your handgun fundamentals, from safety to proper grip and shooting position. Steve H was a great instructor for both!I have also been very impressed with the level of safety and professionalism at Bristlecone. They take firearm safety and suicide awareness very seriously. But, they also have taken so many extra steps to ensure safety in our current societal situation (Covid-19).I highly recommend Bristlecone as a training facility and have already signed up for another class!
My family and I just completed the intro to Pistol Course with Steve H. And it was excellent!!! We have little to no experience with firearms of any kind. Steve H. Did a great job explaining everything and made everyone feel comfortable in the classroom and especially on the Range. 5 stars !!! Can’t wait to take another course
There is a reason they are the best rang in town. The whole building is sharp. Well stocked. The rang is well lit and maintained. The rang officers are very clear, safe, and professional. You just won’t get customer service anywhere else like you do at bristlecone. Hopefully the new Change in management won’t effect anything.
Went to Intro to Pistol course on 2/1/20 with instructor Steve Hartel. Excellent course for me. I had zero firearms experience and had planned to go to a range with my son but decided it would be a great idea to attend an intro course first. I was not disappointed. Very thorough and well-rounded intro class that covered the varieties of handguns and their parts, ammunition, and proper grip, stance and sight alignment. Steve H is an exceptional instructor and able to answer a variety of questions asked by the participants, and was able to demonstrate, modify and coach for a lefty like me. He was very attentive, encouraging and helpful while we were on the range. This course provides a great intro in a non-threatening environment. I’ll definitely be back to Bristlecone and likely to take other classes or private lessons with Steve H.
Steve H. is an exceptional handgun instructor. Broadly knowledgeable, homorous, insightful, patient (no question too stupid), and possessed of a natural ability to connect with the class, Steve makes the experience at Bristlecone a unique, rewarding and complete experience from classroom to range. Better overall than any military or USG weapons training I witnessed in over 35 years.
My wife and I took the basics to handguns class last night with Felipp Dedogryuk and he was a great teacher. He answered all the classroom questions. The instructor was very clear once we got onto the range. It was a fun safe class. I highly recommend this class if you have never fired a gun. Thanks.
I recently took the Intro to Pistol class at Bristlecone. I had no previous experience with any type of hand gun and found the class to be a fantastic introduction. The instructor covered a lot of material in an understandable and fun way. It included enough shooting time that I left feeling comfortable enough in my newfound knowledge and skill to go back and practice on my own. I would highly recommend this class to anyone new to hand guns as well as for a refresher. Thank you to my instructor, Steve H, for sharing his knowledge and experience, making it fun, and helping me to feel safe in the process!
After a day of skiing I decided to look up a random local range and stop in to check out different hand guns and get a feel for them. Jake helped me out and gladly showed me a few different things that I was interested in. He then showed me different sights and educated me on the different types and brands. After a lot of gained knowledge, I asked about memberships and ended up signing up for an annual membership right there based on all of the benefits (and wonderful staff).Since I just got the membership, I decided to do some rental shooting and used one of my six guest passes for my girlfriend since she was with me. We tried out 6 different handguns, some of which I was interested in possibly buying, and then some just for fun. Glen was the Range Officer and gladly stepped up to help us with stance, handgun recommendations, some educational info, etc. Very friendly couldnt have asked for a better experience. We had a great time and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. You can find deals online for firearms, but you wont find this type of informative and friendly service anywhere else. When it comes down to it, Im going to be purchasing my handgun from Bristlecone to support local, purely based on the great experience I had.
Steve hartel and pancho were our instructors for our pistol class on Sunday the 16th and they were awesome! My wife and myself had never shot a gun before and were very nervous but they made it so we were at ease and comfortable i would highly recommend this class for beginners
The staff except Cheyenne was EXTREMELY RUDE. If I could have found the same product at another shop, then Bristlecone WOULD NOT get my business. Everyone, except for Cheyenne could use a customer service class!
Range was great and customer service was ok. Frodo Baggins with the Lord of the Rings tattoo, that was our range officer, seemed to have a little man complex and was an extreme micro manager that was breathing down everyones neck the entire time.
CCW1 class with Steve H was more than I could have hoped for. I went in looking for knowledge, education and comfort with the responsibility of being an owner, but came out with a clear mindset that it’s not your first option, how to handle the firearm if you need to use it and the intense pressure you might encounter if you ever felt your life threatened. Feels like every non gun owner should also take a class like this
If you are a weekend warrior or wannabe gunfighter this is the place for you. if you are in professional security, or executive protection go elsewhere. these people recognize teachers and paramedics but not other firearms instructors or security guards with more training than the entire staff here combined. the retail staff really lacks knowledge of anything and makes up a lot of stuff in addition to i dont know answers. the range staff is better but still have zero respect for pros who carry and teach for a living out on the streets not in a weekend warrior complex.
Great store if you can make it past the gate keeper. Tried to go shopping but was rudely turned away because I didn’t have a mask. But wasn’t offered one either. Will find another place to spend my money
Steve H was a great instructor that kept us engaged throughout. He was extremely knowledgeable and I felt comfortable asking questions. I would highly recommend this class and instructor.
I took the Bristlecones CCW class that was hosted by Steve Hartel and Pancho. They did a great job in adding some common sense to the confusing legal aspects of CCW. I would definitely take another class with these guys. Just last week, I took the Intro to Pistol with Filipp and John. They provided great detail during the classroom and range sessions. I would recommend any classes at Bristlecone and, especially, with any of these instructors. Its money well spent!
Been with Bristlecone since the beginning, very knowledgeable staff and always willing to help you improve. Friendly, Clean, Organized and a great place to spend time with friends. Sales team is great and if they dont have want you want they will find you the best deal to get it there. Highly Recommended!!!
Closed half the lanes but still let multiple people on the same lane. Mandatory mask to enter. It would be better if you just closed completely with your lack of consistency. Dissatisfied member. UPDATE membership was terminated upon posting review as was my familys, read the fine print you WILL NOT BE REFUNDED (even multiple year members). Very cowardly doing that by phone, down right theft involving my family who were not even involved.
First visit today and was very pleased with this company. I visited the range and actually found a Springfield Hellcat to rent. That was my first surprise. After finding the Hellcat to be small for my large hands the Range Officer was very helpful in switching me to whatever firearm I wanted to try. Pricing was very good. Ammo was not overpriced (I was expecting the range ammo they require for rentals to be expensive). I will return in the future. If your looking for a range that takes care of you and your questions and needs, I recommend this range to anyone. Thanks Bristlecibe. PS: go to the website and ask to be on the email list and you will get a 1/2 off your range first visit!
Took a concealed carry class today and it was a useful and fun experience. Filipp had high energy and kept my attention the entire time. He has a good sense of humor and is very thorough in explaining everything and answering questions. Definitely has me interested in devoting more of my time and resources towards Bristlecone!
Not Blue, or Red, friendly.Went to get some range time today, with 3 of the paramedics I work with, to blow off some steam. The guy at the door was incredibly rude, and essentially told me to go away, if I didnt want to wait the 3 hours that he was demanding that I do.Not sure I should be surprised by a place that seems to want to cater to folks in Range Rovers and other equally expensive vehicles, over folks that wear a badge and have had a horrible overall week.
Took Intro to Pistol class with Steve H. He was great- knowledgeable, thorough, approachable. Nice facility; non-intimidating for me as a newbie. Will be back.
Steve Hartel was my instructor and I couldnt be more pleased. Steves technique kept my attention for the duration of the 6 hour class and the content was top notch! I thought I knew details about Conceal and Carry. HA! NOW I am properly trained and educated! Thank you Steve for an amazing day! I have so much more appreciation now.
I love this place. Great atmosphere and the staff is wonderful.
Excellent class! Steve H. Is a great instructor!
My husband and I took the concealed carry class with Pilipp D. today and I must say he is a great instructor! The class is informative, Pilipp is both knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us really good instructions and pointers as well as made the class fun and interesting. Our favorite part was working on precision shooting when the target was fast approaching us! We will highly recommend the course and instructor to our friends and family.
I took the Intro to Pistol class today at Bristlecone with instructor Steve H. It was a great class that I highly recommend. I have never handled a gun so I am a true beginner! It was a 4 hour class with the first 2 hours in the classroom. The content was very informative...teaching us about the different kinds of pistols and how they all work as well as gun safety. The second half of the class was at the shooting range . I was able to rent a gun, eye and ear protection. Being my first time shooting I needed lots of instruction and Steve H. did a great job helping everyone. I would highly reccomend this class to anyone new to pistols or looking for a refresher. Its a fun informative class that although its 4 hours doesnt feel like it.
Nice range. Safe. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice selection of retail. Everyone is very professional. The classes I’ve taken were taught by very experienced handlers who are safety conscious.
Karen and alot of you were very kind and very helpful to made a smart decision making Trever a manager. Hes very good . Karen bent over backwards to help . You do have a couple up tight youngsters I dont care for but hey they will learn . Trust me I was brought up with rifles and hand guns I no the importance of safety Im also a vet so I ve been around alot of weapons a couple of the youngsters acted like I was a weirdo I didnt like that but life goes on.
Took my CCW class last night. Instructor Steve H did a fantastic job: both in the classroom and on the range. He kept it interesting, and provided lots of helpful tips. Ive been shooting for years, but we did a lot of things on the range that Ive never done before, and Steve provided tips that helped me improve my gun handling with my new firearm. I look forward to taking more classes in the near future.
I knew nothing at all about guns, but I wanted to familiarize myself with them for protection. I found a free firearms safety class online at Bristlecone that I attended, which was great. It really eased my mind about handling a gun. After that class, I then signed up for the 4-hour Intro to Pistol Class the following week for some additional training. The class was fantastic. Steve H. was our instructor and did a great job of explaining all the basics of firearms for the first 2 hours. The next 2 hours he spent working with the class on selecting an appropriate firearm and gear for each person and helping us practice in the shooting range. The class size was pretty small (only 6 people) so we each got lots of individual attention and guidance. Im much, much more comfortable now and am looking forward to taking some additional classes at Bristelcone.
Nice place and friendly staff, bought a firearm, they got the reloading zone so they got my biz!
Wish I hadnt waited in line outside for 15 minutes, to then wait inside for another 5 mins (not being helped by the many employees walking by) to hear that theyre all out. COOL! Maybe tell me that before waiting for 20 mins. Such a terrible experience hearing this lady be rude to every person who came in.
Steve h was great and we all felt comfortable -safer and full of knowledge afterwards.
Nice and clean range, great customer service, great prices, and lots of lanes. I would highly recommend this place.
The range is kept very safe and clean, and the staff is always friendly and professional. Inspite of the pandemic craziness, they were still quick to respond to questions sent by email. Bristlecone is truly focused on customer satisfaction.
Best range in town! Just took my concealed carry here and Steve MacGregor was an amazing instructor. Very funny, patient, clear, knowledgeable and most of all safe. Definitely recommend taking any one of his classes.
I visited this gun shop twice. I was looking at a conceal carry pistol for my first visit. The employees dont separate their personal preferences from the customers preference. I prefer a safety, for my own personal reasons, and the associates were adamant against it to the point of being rude. In what situation will you ever need it? Customers come in with different likes and dislikes, and what makes them comfortable. They didnt get that here. Their variety in pistol manufacturers is also very minimal. My second visit, I brought in my HK MR556 to get a front sight post adjuster. There were about two customers and about 10 employees. No one cared enough to greet or assist me. Once I found an employee, they seemed too bothered to help. It seemed like an elaborate song and dance required to allow me to take my rifle out of the case. It was necessary to have my rifle visible and ensure the sight post tool would work. They said the rifle needed to be cleared on the range, ok fine thats reasonable. I hand my rifle to the associate who takes it to the range where three employees huddle around looking at it. How many people does it take to clear a rifle?! Then he brings it back out, zipped up. When I attempt to unzip it, he says No you cant take your rifle out. DUDE, YOU JUST CLEARED MY RIFLE FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAKING MY RIFLE OUT!!! I need to make sure the front sight post adjuster works! It requires I take my rifle out of the case. The people that work here are uncomfortable and tense, and seem to lack common sense. The vibes I get here are very off.
Took my CCW class here off a recommendation from a friend. Excellent six-hour class covered everything I was looking for and included range time. The instructor, Filipp, was awesome and did a great job leading the course. Super professional and informative.I absolutely recommend the CCW class at Bristlecone.
Steve Hartel demonstrated in-depth knowledge about not only the details of owning and using a handgun but also a gun owner’s responsibilities and legal liabilities. He brought clarity to my existing knowledge and experience with handguns! Great training session! Another hour would have been even more beneficial.Dave Danner
My girlfriend bought me a class here for my Birthday, I went in half apprehensive about spending 5 hours here. However Steve H did a fantastic job and kept the class moving very smoothly. I will be back for some more classes!
Took a concealed carry course that was excellent from Steve H. Range portion provided a variety of drills to work on fundamentals together and on my own.
Steve Hartel was a great instructor. He was very helpful in helping me with techniques to improve my accuracy in shooting. He made the class interesting. Thanks Steve, Deb O
I was looking to purchase my first handgun and my husband had told me many good things about Bristlecone. One of the things that attracted me was that I could rent a gun to see if I liked it before buying. Cheyenne happened to be the one helping us that day, and she was AWESOME! She was extremely helpful and friendly and knew the products inside & out. She also told us that the next day there was going to be a special that if you joined the annual fee would be waived. So my husband and I both went back the next day and joined.
Did the ccw class with Steve H and it was great. Very informative in the class and on the range.
I went to Bristlecone Shooting for the first time today. It was a great experience! Well lit ranges with knowledgeable staff on hand. The selection at the store was great as well. Definitely considering a membership!
Steve H did a great job of walking through all fundamentals and answering questions along with making the time fun.Thank you!
I took the Intro to Pistol class, taught by Filipp. He was an excellent instructor!!! I would not think twice about taking another class with him, or recommending any class that he teaches. As for Bristlecone itself, it was much more welcoming, and unassuming, than I expected. I was hoping to try to lay low, eyes down, and try not to look like a total gun noob. But everyone was very friendly, and more than willing to share their ample knowledge. Having never shot a gun and walking into a gun store, is like being overweight and walking into a gym. Bristlecone took all the embarrassment and anxiety out of the situation, and allowed me to absorb all the new information without any hint of judgement. I became a member right away. Great people, great atmosphere!
Grab a coffee because this is going to be long. The staff at Bristlecone have surpassed my expectations with every encounter Ive had with them. The owner, Jacquelyn Clark and program directors Jennifer Stitt and Filipp Dedogryuk are responsive, personable and truly outgoing. Ive never received attention like this from any company. Jennifer has taken the time in two separate occasions to greet me when Im in the store and shared my enthusiasm with a firearm purchase!!Ive had the pleasure and opportunity to take 3 classes. One in person and two webinars. The instructors once again surpassed my expectations.I took the concealed carry permit class with Steve MacGregor. Steve will provide you a learning experience you wont get any where else. He truly goes above and beyond to ensure the students feel comfortable and confident with what he is teaching and in the classroom/range environment. He is down to earth, he gets real about gun ownership, he is professional and extremely knowledgeable. Im so thankful I was able to get a seat in his class which has set a high bar for future classes.I also took the Reloading Ammo class with Lee Royse and Refining your skills class with Cindy Coker. Im sorry youre hearing this again, but they surpassed my expectations. They are taking time out of their day to provide free (for members) critical and excellent webinars. Ive never seen anything like this before by a small businesses. Its personable, thorough and convenient. If you havent signed up for a webinar, you need to.Finally, Ill just say thank you to Travis for his patience, enthusiasm and knowledge while I rented 5 or 6 guns until I found the perfect one to purchase. Ive named the folks Ive had the opportunity to spend time with, however, everyone in the shop is amazing. They love what they do and they value the customers. They are extremely busy but continue to provide an above bar level of service.I highly recommend Bristlecone for your firearm needs.
I have visited many shooting ranges and definitely come to this one over all the other gun ranges because of their superior customer service, clean/heated shooting range, great selection of guns, ammo, and accessories! Whenever I come here I’m always greeted and feel welcome! Not too long ago I finished my last radiation treatment and when they found out about that. They not only allowed me to shoot/ destroy my radiation mask, they let me borrow a shotgun to shoot it since my pistol and rifle rounds were squeezing through the pre existing tiny holes in the mask. The owner Jacquelyn and many employees (sooo many names I wish I could remember!) went above and beyond to ensure everything was set up and went well!Everyone that I have recommended to go there have also had a great time and have been well taken care of!Thank you everyone for your help and a great time! I will definitely be back for more guns, ammo, and range time!
Best shooting range experience I have ever had. I am an amateur and have only been to about 5 or so indoor ranges but these guys are knowledgeable, safe, patient, clean and extremely good hearted. Kyle, Marcus and Ryan made my dad and I feel comfortable, safe and....well....AMERICAN of course. Highly recommend to any amateur or vet shooters out there! Very reasonable pricing as well!
Top notch shooting facility. I took a group of 25 men. On short notice they where able to accommodate the group. The staff took care of us very well, giving the men plenty of time to shoot safely & efficient manner.Tanner, Ben, Ryan, & Joe went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.Thank You
Steve MacGregor taught my CCW class on March 20th, 2020, and he and the class material and the facility all exceeded my high hopes and expectations. The material was very clear, and reinforced my already healthy respect for firearm safety while boosting my awareness and understanding of the immense responsibility shouldered by anyone who makes the necessary sacrifices to carry a gun. The limited (6 people) class size enabled him to spend a generous amount of time with each of us on the range, and the shooting drills were a fabulous introduction to aiming and firing a handgun safely and quickly with accuracy, while the instructor continued to remind us of the circumstances we might encounter should we have a genuine firearm incident. Steve spent significant time going through the normal but traumatic aftermath of a self-defense shooting scenario. It was horrifying but absolutely credible, and partly responsible for me wanting to immediately continue my education, as related in my next review. Thank you, Bristlecone.CCW 2 - April 11, 2020 - Back for more already.Steve Hartel taught this class to me personally even when the only other registered person did not show up. Never begrudged the lack of students, and instead committed to make this the best single-student class it could be. Best possible scenario for me. He is a personable and committed instructor who diligently devoted himself to 2 hours of practical draw/shoot drills on the range as if it might be the only chance I get to learn important defensive handgun practices and procedures before having a real incident. I hope not, but thats the point! This all gave me more of both the confidence and the commitment to get to the range to practice, while equipping me with holster qualification and solid practice concepts. He taught with conviction and authority, but never made me feel stupid, even though I am a relative newbie. Thanks again, Bristlecone, and thanks Steve H.I expect to continue to drive all the way from the East side of Denver just to take classes at this range.
Expansive space, great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff. There’s a cool members-only lounge and and state-of-the art shooting range, concealed carry and other shooting classes throughout the week, pretty much everything the gun enthusiast might need.
I took the Intro to Pistol class with Cindy and Tanner. 10/10 would recommend. I’m just starting to learn and now I won’t go anywhere else. I will make the 50 minute drive just to go to this particular range. They know what they are talking about and they never make you feel bad when correcting you during class. It’s very obvious they love what they do. I’m a young female and if I can feel comfortable when I have no idea what I’m doing, anyone can feel comfortable. The small class size was great too because you got the one on one attention you needed when learning about how to use a weapon like this. I’ve never felt more welcomed into a business in my life. I was also a fan that they went over common concerns and myths about handling guns.Side note:Cindy doesn’t just teach you to be safe and how to shoot a gun, she literally helps you get better as the class goes on. She’s super sweet and is a great teacher.Tanner was helping out because he’s learning to be an instructor. That being said, don’t think he’s any less qualified to teach. He knows exactly what he’s talking about and is one of the major reasons I felt so welcome. Literally one of the nicest guys I think I’ve met.
