Kaanapali Alii Resort

We love staying at Kaanapali Alii because you have the same amazing on-beach experience as the hotels (Westin, Marriott, Hyatt, Sheraton) nearby, but with much larger rooms (luxury condos with kitchen and laundry). There are more streamlined amenities, but there is never a lack of things do to on Kaanapali Beach. The pool and beach shoreline are both amazing. The staff is awesome, helpful and kind.

Amazing condo, billed as garden view but has that plus full ocean view from the living room and balcony. Check in was simple and organized by the most friendly and helpful staff. Whalers Village just a 10 minute walk down a beachside path with restaurants and shopping. Thus far exceeds every expectation.

Family-friendly environment. We visited last year, and we were accommodated quickly. The staff were commendable since they were all very helpful. Overall, place was clean, comfortable and accessible. We can’t wait to come back!

Super place to stay on Maui. Excellent rooms with full kitchen, family room and spacious bedroom with awesome view. This resort is right on water. Great staff and daily room services. All appliances are upscale. Dont look any further. This is a best place to stay.

Best stay! We stayed in 1-bedroom suite but it is literally a two-bedroom! Two queen beds and two full bathrooms. About 1300 sqft, massive! Definitely worth the money! Highly recommend it!

The location and views of the Kaanapali beach is so beautiful. The resort is clean and the staff is very friendly, however this facility is older and most of the units are in desperate need of updating. They are not bad, but in comparison to other resorts on the beach, it might be worth checking out the Hyatt, Marriott or Westin. They are much more modern and have amazing outdoor areas. We spent most of our time out exploring the island but if you want to spend much time at the resort, make sure you check out the other options before making your decision.

Very nice condo complex. Pool is nice though not very large. Water and coffee provided poolside but other than that no options for food or drink. Plenty of grills are available with a nice little herb garden. Condos are very spacious

Nice resort. Geared for young families. Real nice fitness center. Clean and well maintained with a great staff.

From day one the staff were very friendly! We had ocean view one bedroom with den which had a queen bed. Very spacious, clean and overlooked the pool area. They made my birthday a very special trip. We dined in one night and the food was fabulous! I would give a very high recommendation to lodge here. You are in walking distance of everything.

Kannapali is a great location in Maui. Condo was beautiful, has everything you want. Very well maintained pool, patio and beach areas.

Second visit 4 years after first visit - still amazing. Beautiful accommodations. Friendly and helpful staff. Best beach area on the planet in our opinion. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic condos that feel like a home away from home. Garden view, mountain view, ocean view it doesnt matter all views are great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool area was nice and I appreciated that both the pool and jacuzzi were equipped to be handicap accessible. Beach was steps away and Whalers Villages shops and restaurants were a short walk away.

We stayed in a garden view 2 bed room and 2 bathroom unit for 5 nights. The check in was very easy and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The unit was very spacious and the kitchen was very nice. The location of the hotel was awesome as it was right by the beach and not too far away from dining or shopping. The pool was also fun for us and the kids. Only things I would say need improvement were the family room did not have enough lighting and was very dark at night. The beds were very outdated and could use replacing. Lastly I think out of the 5 nights we stayed there, the cleaning crew might have changed the sheets just once. They usually just made the bed most nights. Overall I would love to come back but would probably ask for a more updated unit next time.

Very cool sprawling grounds and don’t leave Maui without seeing this place and for sure meander down to the Cliff Dive Bar!!!

I made reservations 7 months prior for a partial ocean view. I even called ahead of time asking for a high floor and newer furniture. We arrived late in the evening, very tired with my 85 year old mother after flying 6 hrs from the mainland. The room faced the parking lot and the rooms smelled old and musty. Maybe it was the old furniture. Really? We spent time trying resolve the problem and wound up moving to a ground floor garden view. Totally opposite from what we requested. Then we get an alert that we were charged $1200+ plus the deposit for incidentals. I called Travelocity to call the property because we prepaid months ago when we made the reservations. The amount was refunded. Other than that the property and condo was lovely.

WE had breakfast at Leilanis on the Beach our first day on Maui. Great food, really good service and stunning views. We were seated quickly and the menu had a wide selection. Coffee was terrific (so important after 12 hour flights) and it was the perfect start to our Maui vacation.

The condo itself was terrific - beautifully equipped - clean The garden view was more accurately a parking lot view - would definitely stay again but would pay extra for the ocean viewNice stores and restaurants within walking distance.

It was so amazing, I cannot think of anything I would change. The apartment, the views, the location, the fact that there was a lot of privacy and yet it was fully booked out were all outstanding. I was hesitant to review this place as it should be kept as a secret, it was so good and we will go back for sure. The apartment had everything provided and there was no cutting corners on anything. Well above expectations.

We have stayed at the Alii twice, and we will probably return. The location on Kaanapali Beach is great, and it is nice to be able to walk to Whalers Village for dining and shopping. It is basically a condominium complex, and I think some of the units are even used as full-time primary residences by their owners. The units are large and nicely furnished. We dont usually want to cook very much while were on vacation, but we used the fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals for our son instead of worrying about finding something for him to eat at the restaurants. There are several large resorts adjacent to the Alii, and they seem much more crowded and noisy by comparison. The Alli feels more laid back, quiet, and casual to us. There are no on-site bars or restaurants, but apparently a limited room service menu is available for delivery from the adjacent Westin. There are several nice grills in the pool area, but weve never cooked on them. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pools are great, but not as huge or fancy as some of the neighboring resorts. The property is also beautifully landscaped. The Alii is perfect for us.

Loved our two bedroom apartment with lanai that had ocean views. Only a short walk along the beach to shops and restaurants. Large kitchen, lounge room and two bathrooms. Free parking too. Would stay here again when visiting Maui.

We are in a condo with another couple. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. A kitchen with a dining room and a living room. A nice sized balcony looks out over the beach and the ocean with other islands in the distance.The staff and facilities are wonderful and you can walk a couple of blocks and you have passed several restaurants on the beach.The facility is located on beautiful beaches and near to a lot of activities.

Clean rooms, good central location to restaurants within the other hotels on the strip and Whalers Village. Basic pool/hot tubs but quieter environment than the other resorts rec areas and some sound and line of sight privacy hedges between the pools which helps make it feel less crowded and more private.

Amazing room with the best employees. The location is near great restaurants and the beach is paradise. The free parking was great. The rooms were perfect for a family. The kids had their own area and the view from the patio was perfect for watching the sun set.

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed as family. Diana checked us in taking extra care to ensure we were comfortable and had everything for our stay. Then Chris took us to our room unpacked our groceries, showed us around, ensured we had the WiFi password, and knew how to wirk the TV, thermostat, fridge etc. our room is beautifully furnished. It’s very roomy, a master bedroom, a den with sliding doors, two bathrooms and a laundry room. We have a beautiful ocean view and it’s very peaceful on our lanai. We’re so thankful to spend this time unwinding and filling our souls with the Aloha spirit

Awesome! There one bedroom partial Ocean view is more like a two bedroom suite! Calm area, it was a little rainy, but it seemed like it never rained as much in Kaanapali.

Great location on the shore, near shops and restaurants. Beautiful pool and jacuzzi, full kitchens and amenities in the condos but no food or drink onsite other than little snack shop

I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else. The condos are modern, spacious, clean, and have incredible views. They have a very nice pool area with two pools and two hot tubs as well as a grilling area with multiple grills. Plenty of eating and shopping within walking distance, and right on the beach.

Upon reading reviews was expecting an exceptional stay but was disappointed. First upon arrival at check in the front desk was more concerned about discussing strict rules on no sunscreen or sand in condos that you have to sign off on but did not ask about how to make our stay enjoyable/activities available. Then upon entering the room the kitchen was modern but the rest of the place was dated and had a musty smell (we think this was due to the carpeting). On our first night we discovered the bed is extremely uncomfortable (very soft/lumpy that you sink into) and pillows were pancakes. Additionally the bathroom was spacious but shower was covered in soap scum/lime and needed a good cleaning. The location on the beach is fantastic although the better swimming beaches are further south and the pool is small but has a nice bbq patio area. Overall did not think this place was worth the price as the pluses of location were outweighed by outdated / unclean rooms and lacking service, will not stay here again. Note room was located in building 3 perhaps better reviews are from other buildings in the complex.

The property was very nice. Very clean and friendly staff. Unfortunately, we requested a mountain view and received a partial mountain view. Also, there was constant construction noise every day. The luau show at the Westin was nice to listen to the first night or two, but not every night.

Booked it via costco travel. It was a very nice deal and free parking!Rooms is big, and kitchen and living room, dinning room as well.The pictures on costco travel are only ok, but it is definitely nicer in person.

Spent one week at Kaanapali Alii with friends and family. Couldn’t be more happy with our room, the views, and how close a lot of things were that we could just walk all the time. One of my best stays in Maui!

The flats were spacious with well equipped kitchens. Loved having grill access near the pool. The ability to BBQ beachside was an unexpected treat.Since it isnt a big resort the hub bub of activities at the pool was kept to a minimum, which was a plus for us. Would return to this same place again in the future.

This is an amazing condo association! The rooms are excellent and ours has a full kitchen two beds and two baths. Outside one bathroom they have another sink which helps when multiple people have to get ready at the same time. The beach view is amazing and the pool is top notch!

Great place to stay without the touristy resort feel. Right on the ocean front, nice pool and property. The place we stayed in was wonderful overlooking the mountains and ocean. Housekeepers were very nice and everyone got to know you over a couple of days.There is no bar in the pool area, so pack accordingly. Would recommend this place if you need the extra room and kitchen for the vacation!

The resort itself is beautiful. Older structure but clean and well kept. The staff is amazing. The location of my room was the problem. Construction. Caused me so much stress. Could not open windows, for fresh air or to hear birds. Could not be in our apartment during the day! Front desk did not care. Heartbroken.

Condos were clean and were larger than we expected. Great location on the beach. Close to shopping, yet far enough away to escape some of the crowd. Enjoyed the grilling area near the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back!

I proposed to my girlfriend on this trip. We both enjoyed the comfort of this place and we will have memories here that will last a lifetime!

Great beach, great reef to the left of the hotel for snorkeling and diving. The staff is friendly, the apartments are spacious and cozy.

Placed on a beautiful beach. Not very friendly personnel at reception desk. Our suite with a so called garden view was actually a suite with a garage/parking view. The fact that the resort does not have a single restaurant or a bar at least is a big minus. Luckily enough stayed there only for three nights. Will certainly not go back to this place.

Pool was pretty dirty. The property itself was great. The condo needed some maintenance and a coat of paint. The size was great!

We love that Kaaanapali Alii is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. The pools and bbq area are great. Gardens are beautiful. Rental costs and parking are good.Right now the construction next door was distracting. They started before 8 each morning and worked 7 days a week.

Outstanding views of the ocean and mountains of Maui. The beach in front of the hotel is world class. The pool is also excellent, if you dont like sand. A couple minutes walk to great restaurants and whalers village.

The condo was very large with all the amenities. The furnishings were a little dated, but acceptable. The service was great. Ive stayed at majority of the resorts along the kaanapali strip and this is probably one of the quieter ones which is perfect as we came here with a 11 month old infant. Overall I have been very pleased with this condo/resort.

Not as good as the previous times I was here. The place above was under construction the whole time. 1000$ a night to here power tools all day. They shut off the elevator without notice and told me to walk up 6 flights of stairs with my luggage. I was happier at the Ritz

Okay maybe its me but the condo smells like mold and the dresser drawers smell worse. Now my clothes smell. Beautiful unit but feels dirty.. . Perfect location. If I were staying longer I would have left but just a short trip 4 nights.

One of the best hotels Ive been to..

This review does not take into consideration price, merely the experience. The unit was immaculate, with newer appliances and granite counter tops. The feel was contemporary and had all amenities I have at home. The only caveat was the small washer/dryer, but that is better than nothing. No bar or restaurant but the options are plentiful and within walking distance. There is a fantastic grilling area that is complemented with a herb garden. No need to buy a whole container of thyme or rosemary when there is a large bush growing in the garden. The view is spectacular. The beach is sand, but only about 50 feet deep. This is great for Maui but a lot less than what is expected from other tropical destinations.

So much love for oue condo here! It totally made our vacation. The staff was amazing and our condo was absolutely perfect! Having a kitchen, along with plenty of grills and the shared pantry made traveling with a family so much more comfortable. since our kids arw.tounf teens, we could allow them to go to the beach or pool and watch them from the balcony. Our condo was beautifully decorated adding to the luxurious feel of our vacation and so comfortable.

Nice area but construction noise was horrendous. Also had very rude pool staff

Its really perfect....great for families, great amenities, rooms are big, service is great. You cant get a better location, we walked to Whalers Village and ran on the running paths every day. Just a few minutes from Front Street...I very highly recommend

The condo was amazing. Although listed as a one BR, there was a den with closing doors that had a very comfortable queen murphy bed. Plus, the couch folded out. Two 3/4 baths (great showers, but neither bath had a tub. Although we technically had a garden view, we had a nice slice of ocean, garden and mountain with a lovely lanai. Nice kitchen, fridge with ice maker, convection stove top. Three different zones for A/C with separate temperature controls. Could not have asked for more.Daily maid service was perfect. The best combo between having enough space, ability to cook when we wanted but eat out most of the time, and still not needing to clean. The pool was on the small side, but the kids liked it. Hot tub is fine, but it was 85-90 degrees outside, so I didnt use it much! The ocean was steps away, and Whalers Village was a 5 min walk. Parking is free and Maui requires having a car, so that was a huge plus and enabled us to go to some other beached and tour around a bit. There is no restaurant, so if room service is your thing, this isnt the place for you.

Loved this place. Right on the beach, good views, clean, and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again (Id love to own a place here, if possible) they are not a hotel, so no food, bars, shops, etc. The concierge has a small selection of snacks and drinks, but theyre pricey.Overall, its a great place, hubby made a great find!

Nice units, nice but small pool. Pool is good for adults and relatively boring for kids, as far as hotel pools go. Pool and beach area is great overall. Love the outdoor grilling area which is available for guests and includes an expert chef to help cook for the guests if they desire.
