Great Place on weekday Summer afternoon for a 6 & 9 year old boys to get rid of some energy. Price was a little high at $25 for 2 kids and myself, mom was off at her job. Otherwise, lifeguards were paying attention band the places were nice.

Very fun! Took the grandkids there and we had a very nice time. Plenty of attractions for smaller kids. The only downside is they charge full price just to enter even if you dont swim or touch the water.

Great water park for kids. Not too crowded, reasonably priced, easy parking, clean and well designed. Last river was fun and my 8 year old couldnt get enough of the slides. Was able to snag a picnic table and relax in the shade.

Awesome place for the kids to go where it isn’t super busy! One thing I would recommend is training the staff in the concessions are to be a lot more friendly, faster and knowledgeable. Also... lids for cups would be nice.

This place is so great. Very clean and just the right size, its not overwhelming but has plenty of play options for the kids.

Kids have to be 48 tall to ride the slides - major bummer for petite children. Other water parks let short children pass a swim test and then allow them to ride the slides if they pass the swim test, but apparently that is against the manufacturers recommendations for the slides at this park. We were meeting friends, which made our visit fun, but I wouldnt take my kids there otherwise because my 7-year-old cant go down the slides (which is basically the whole reason for going to a water park).

Dont expect to have them honor the bad weather policy. We waited for over an hour after the pool was closed, then were asked to leave the property because of the weather. When I asked for a voucher, they said no voucher because the park hasnt been closed for 2 hours. I guess you have to wait in the parking lot for them to honor the policy. Total pool time 30 minutes.

Update: we have been twice since my first review. The lifeguards seem a bit better at being kind while still in charge. There is a sidewalk that goes all the way around, which is appreciated. Its not any shorter than the first way we walked, but you dont have to walk along S. Boulder Rd if you dont want. Rules seem to be a bit arbitrarily enforced. We have seen children with pool noodles every time weve been there (3 times now) but have been informed they are not allowed by the gate staff. My niece and daughter did not understand why we couldnt have our noodles in the pools, but other kids could/did. I get that done people maybe just arent following the rules, and coding to play with theirs anyway... Whatever the reason for no noodles its frustrating to see their rules not enforced or only partially enforced. This water park is within walking distance from my house. So in that respect, is great. There are a few things that are irritating about it though. 1) even though its within walking distance, it still feels hard to get to because of the location of the entrance and the lack of sidewalks around it. Were newish to the area and I didnt want to wander around with my newly 3yo walking in tow to discover I had taken the wrong path... Maybe more/better sidewalk coverage is planned, or everyone else just knows. I cant help but notice that it definitely caters to cars and parking rather than those who love in the neighborhood nearby - which seems odd to me.2) The cost. I took just my daughter and myself = $20 with no local discount (Lafayette resident). The punch pass saves a small amount, but overall not enough for us to be able to visit frequently. The season pass is exhorbitant given what is available at the water park.3) The Lifeguards are unsure of themselves even it comes to letting kids safe. Language like sweetheart, can you please get down from there? In an overly gentle tone does not set the them up for success if something is truly a safety issue. I work with kids. It is possible to be kind, polite, respectful and still have the lesson youre speaking to know you are in charge. It was a good experience. We will probably go back but there are definitely things that need improvement.

We went here for 45 minutes when it closed due to a storm. They moved us once to under an umbrella for safety. Later they moved us to under a canvas because the wind was too strong. They said it would be the last move. Later they came and asked us to move to under the building because it started raining. We agreed to leave and headed to the exit. We asked for a rain check but they said it had to be closed for 2 hours. It is also really expensive to go in. I dont recommend this water park for anyone.

My kids had a blast! The younger ones love that they have access to a slide. Lockers, private showers/restrooms, snacks and meals available for purchase. Reminder for adults- The employees deserve your respect. Especially the life guards as they are trained to keep us all safe!

The admissions are over priced for the size and activities available for the kids and adults. The area designated for swimming for adults is extremely limited and no real depth. We paid 5 dollars for a cold pretzel and a bottle of water, and were told there was no nacho cheese available because it was still cold.

$10 to go lap swimming for adults. Thats a bit steep for an hour or so of swimming. For comparison the Scott Carpenter outdoor 50m pool in Boulder charges $8.25 or $74 10 punch pass. Since the new addition of the water park, this is the first year the Lafayette Rec Center monthly pass wont get me in for free, which is understandable I suppose. That being said, Im happy to see that the park is full on a regular basis during the summer. As for lap swimming, go elsewhere unless you just want a break from the kids and family...

This brand new seasonal city water park opens in 2018. Operated by the City of Lafayette Rec Dept. It has lots of parking and is ADA compliant. A new traffic light intersection will be operational by April 2018(delayed due to apt complex owners) at Saratoga Drive according to the city. Extremely reasonable entrance fee. Season passes available.

I would not recommend it. They are very expensive and even charge for anyone two and older. For one adult and three children it was $32. My son was less than half an inch too short for their water slide. They have one measurement in the front when you check in but a separate one at a different height at the slide. My child who can swim well and has ridden tons of much larger waterslides was devastated. I tried to appeal to them and the teenage staff was very challenging to work with. Seriously as a business do not leave your business to be run completely by a bunch of very young teenagers. Anyhow do yourself a favor and visit The Bay in Broomfield instead of this place.

Not nearly enough chairs, way expensive, not enough shade umbrella and I was disappointed that they dont even rent out little life vests or floaties. Although happy that outside food and drink is allowed, although if that was out someplace on the website it would be appreciated by other first timers

Pretty new and fun waterpark. Lots of interesting people watching. Staff seem friendly and young if a bit disorganized.I have two minor complaints.#1) The snack bar could use some leadershipMy family and I arrived early and due to a morning swim meet the concession stand was unavailable in a busy park. They should have vending machines or another option if they are going to block off that half of the park. When, finally, the swim meet cleaned up and they took the fence down the snack bar was in shambles. They were out of pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers...so basically the swim meet cleaned them out. Staff working the registers had no rhythm and were serving people all over the place, out of order, very awkward and disorganized. IMO one window should take orders, give a number and the other should serve out the food.#2) Lack of Chairs. It is the beginning summer and this park has barely seen a crowd. Even arriving early we did not get a chair. About 50 recling chairs and maybe the same upright arent going to cut it. A sprinkle of picnic tables doesnt even out the situation. For $10 a day just for me, the park could have a little more consideration towards its guests and how many they might see on a warm Saturday.

The Great Outdoors is really just the OK Outdoors. I think its tough because the prices are a little on the high side, which ends up setting the expectations pretty high. For the fee you get a lap pool, playground pool, a lazy river, and a couple of ~25ft slides. (Also, the hight requirement of the slide is pretty high, maybe 46 inches, for slides that dont land in a pool. Theres no hight requirement at Bob Burger, and short kids are required to swim at the bottom.)Im comparing The Great Outdoors primarily to the Apex Center in Arvada, which has about as many slides and play areas the Great Outdoors, but is an indoor facility. As of 2018, Apex charges $8.75 for adults and $4.75 for kids, compared to $10 and $7.50 at the Great Outdoors. Maybe Arvada subsidizes their facilities better than Lafayette, I dont know. But The Great Outdoors have three staff running a waterslide without a pool at the bottom. I contrast this with Bob Burger, where one lifeguard watches a slide with a pool, as well as shares responsibility for the Lazy River. Apex only has 2 working lifeguards watching their slides (which again, have a pool at the bottom). Maybe fewer staff could support the pools? Also, the water arch has a design issue that makes it impossible for most young people to use (the handles are too large and rotate, so you need huge hands to cross). Instead, all the kids just go around the handles and use the ropes. It looks like this problem could be solved by just cutting the handles off.I live in Lafayette, so I would likely try again next summer. But I expect well mostly go either to Bob Burger, or make the drive to Apex.

Disappointed with staffs bad will. I have a medical condition that requires I stay under a shade under extended periods of time (while my child swims and plays in the sun). I called them before hand and they said no problem, there were many umbrellas available around the pool. When I got there the park seemed busy, so I asked the girl at the booth if she could ask the staff guy behind her to check if there were still at least two umbrellas available. She talked briefly to him and came back saying she didnt know, they could not check, no guarantees, and no refunds if I got in and found no shade. So I had to leave with a very disappointed child given that I cannot risk being in the sun. Headed to Broomfields Paul Derda Rec Center which never disappoints.
