This is always a memorable experience. If you are walking there, its a smoother experience. When you have to park, it can be challenging, but if you are patient, you can find a spot. The night pic opportunity will have very few people. Your daytime pic, on the other hand, is where your patience may be tested. Its worth the wait.
Super cool to experience . Lots of history here. Lots of things to do. There’s a scavenger hunt through the Roam app that will give you a walking tour. Probably do that in the car, it was too long to finish walking . There’s go carts and scooters and bikes you can rent . The beach is beautiful and clear . The night scene was really lively as well. Lots of restaurants and art galleries to browse . Always all kinds of people out there, lots of people watching happening, if that’s your thing..I will definitely be getting down there more often !
Great small beach with a convenient bar and restaurant that provides great service. Enjoyed renting a few chairs and umbrella for a reasonable price and enjoyed the afternoon laying out on this quaint beach. Would recommend if you are looking for a place to relax and get some sun while in Key West!
This was a cool spot for a photo-op and to see the water. Really pretty views. We also had the folks in front of in line ask for us to take their picture...and then the fella got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes. So we had quite a memorable time here
I live very close to the Northernmost Point in Minnesota next to Canada and then I have been to the Southernmost Point which it was very far away from where I live. This is cool here! The problem is its always have a bunch of people here so you have to get in line to wait to take pictures with it, its unlike the Northernmost Point never been busy cause not so many people from other states to go there. But here is always busy so you have to take pictures quick and leave for the next people.
It is cool to see but really it is a goofy looking marker. People line up like lemmings to get their picture with this candy corn marker. The view is nice but nothing spectacular. You see better ocean views from other beaches.
Sometimes you just have to do the tourist thing. We got there in the afternoon and had to wait about 15 mins to get to the buoy, but it wasnt bad. There were other things your could peek at around the area and I helped take some pictures for some other people. Nothing to special about it. I hear that you can see a good sunset from here, but I think that is the case for most places in Key West. If you have a few minutes to spare and I guess wait times might vary on the time of day you, its a cute little pictures to add to your scrapbook.
Not precisely the southern most point but it was a decent enough spot to take a picture. Government owns adjacent land so this will have to do I guess. Best to walk here as parking when busy isnt practical at all. No place on Key West is for that matter. Fortunately we like to walk, so that wasnt an issue for us.
Hmmmm. Expect a long line just to get a photo with this monument. No professional photographer here (at least when we were there) so if you want a full group photo, expect to ask a stranger to take the pictures. Did I mention the line...we stood in line for about 45 minutes. Guess it was worth the wait for the traditional KW photo. But to be honest I expected either a less formal process or something more. But nope - when its finally your turn either you have a selfie stick or you find someone willing to take your full group photo. Would still recommend, based on the iconic value of the landmark photo, just be prepared when its your turn. *Thank you to the lady with German accent who agreed to take our picture ️
Stunning views and a great landmark to appreciate. Be prepared to wait a little while, particularly with regards to visiting while social distancing is advised but really a great thing to check out on Key West. The bar up the street is a great stop to make on the way.
Well this is the southernmost point for tourists. Like mentioned in other reviews, the actual southernmost point is on government property. If you don’t want to wait in line to take your picture; go early...before 10AM. Also, if you don’t like germs I would suggest not to touch the monument. From observation, most everyone was touching the buoy while taking pictures.
It was so cool to be there. First time ever. I rated it a three star because there are no easy parking spaces close to it. Most places to park charge you. You have to walk to get to it. The water in that area is dirty and so are the sidewalks. Also smell is bad. You would just want to come and take a pic and move on.
Its certainly pretty south, but as far West as you have to bear to get there the claim to fame seems a bit of a stretch. At least whoevers behind you in line to take photos is glad to help you get the whole party into your shot.
Great experience if you can do this! It is a photo op, but pretty to cool to say that we were at the Southernmost point. Now, my husband & I want to visit the other most points. We got this photo with the #Kentuckymonthly magazine too. It is something they do called #magonthemove for locals to take pics.
Its a buoy at the southern most point in key west. Not much on conversation but if you ever need to lean on it it is always there for you. Very photogenic
Definitely a must-see and get your photo taken. Usually a decent sized line. Its also not even close to the most southern part of the key. Oh well.
Its okay. I almost feel like the stickers and memorabilia are more fun than the actual marker. Its not as big as youd think. Its very interesting to look out to ocean and conceptualize 90 miles. Its just that theres no other signage to give ...context? I would have liked a map or something. But its a marker, not really an official site, so its not supposed to be built up and informative.Even when its not crowded, it is, or it can get hectic at any time. Unless you actually want a photo, look at it from down the street. Theres also a lot of ocean spray, so be aware of that.
Its a cool place to be. I thought it was kind of strange to see a 50-person line all day everyday to take a picture with the monument. Maybe thats just me.
Previous reviewers are correct. If you want to see the marker, you have to time it when the main rush is not there. Its not a bad picture spot, but there are more that are better, like along the sidewalk by the airport. It can create a beautiful background. It was neat seeing the concrete monument, but nothing too flashy or special about it besides it being the southernmost point of the United States at one time. Now its in Hawaii. Maybe it still holds its title from the continental United States, but these are island chains, so how would that work?Anyways, its a nice landmark to see and snap a picture while you are touring the island.
There is always going to be a line to take photos at this Landmark year round. The usual wait time is about 30 minutes to an hour so just plan accordingly when you come visit. Awesome
It may be a hot debate for some as to whether or not this is the southern most point of the continental USA. It is still an awesome photo opportunity.
Best place to get a photo. If you go to key west, this photo is a must!
It was neat. Expect long wait times during peak travel times. Be sure to go in the morning because when the sun gets behind it in the afternoon, its hard to get decent pictures.
Rare and yet popular photo op!! Its always busy trying to get a photo and usually a line down the sidewalk but its worth feeling kind of awkward taking a photo in front of a line full of people who are there to do the same exact thing!! Its the southern most point of the continental U.S.!! You have to do it at least once in your life and dont be afraid to ask the person in line behind you to take the picture of your group while your at it!! During Covid 19 days you wear your mask in line and then take it off for your pictures!! The scenery is beautiful and well worth the wait in my own opinion.
Very cute little tourist spot. Love the statue of Albert Kee! Wonderful story.
I arrived at sunset, after cycling 108.5 miles from Key Largo. There were quite a few people waiting to get photographed in front of the monument, and everyone was friendly, helping each other with photographs. The waves were washing onshore, and lent the whole scene a once in a lifetime feel. The actual monument is not as impressive as I thought it would be, but it was still very cool to be standing at the southernmost point of the USA.
What can you say. The Conch Republic commonly know as Key West is a place all should experience.
This place is a cool place to see at least once. There will be a line so expect that. Depending on the time of year, it can be pretty long. If youre passing by and theres less than 10 people in line, you better park your car and run over there because who knows how long that will last.
From Pier One to Southern most point, there is a lot to enjoy along Duval Street in Key West.
Something Ive always wanted to do and finally made it! Beautiful. Southernmost Point Bar did not disappoint either
Dont waste your time. Its really not worth it.Walk a few blocks to Southernmost house. Have a drink outside first and have the owner show you the 1st floor artifacts in the lobby of the hotel. Much more interesting.
Ive always wanted to visit Key West and im so glad i did and got to see the Southernmost Point. I do suggest going to see it on a day when the sea is less choppy. The waves was splashing against the walls when i was there and we ended up getting wet but this beautiful sight is worth it. There were lots of pple of people there taking pictures
This time of year is great time to visit if you are avoiding crowds. Parking easy to find. The Butterfly Conservatory is a must visit. Fabulous butterflies, exotic birds.
It is exactly what I thought it would be. Its a fun place for a picture. Nothing super exciting just a marker. It was clean and had beautiful views behind it.
Beautiful view at sunset. Great for a quick photo op. Sometimes theres a line but we waited until the off hours.
Cool place to see.. expect to wait in line but goes fast. People friendly and helpful with taking pictures.
A beautiful place with significance. I took many photos. Like it and would come back. Worth it!
I don’t follow the tides, but it must have been high tide when we went, because the water was splashing up over the wall and there were huge puddles. We didn’t get splashed, as we got our pictures between waves. Cool spot. Don’t take it literally, there’s a Navy base next door that looks to be more southern. Haha.
Had to visit just to say I did it. For fellow geocachers, this spot has an earth cache and mystery cache so take advantage while you visit. There was a line due to social distancing but it moved pretty quickly. In my opinion, that worked out better for photo ops so you didnt have to try and squeeze in with a bunch of other visitors.
Nice place for a walk, went through day time couldnt see Cuba only at night. It was ok. The town was great and plenty of outside restaurants, bars especially Mattheessens Candy kitchen.
Fun! Huge line extending down the block to take picture in front monument to southern most point.
Not exactly exciting, but its something to check off your list in Key West.
It was...a quick photo op. Nothing spectacular about it. Very hot and not much shade or seating if youre waiting in line to take a picture.
We did not wait in line but went to back side to save time and was just as satisfied!
Great place to take a memorable picture. Everyone stands in line while each group takes there picture. Beautiful view and great city.
Surprisingly unassuming location. Be prepared to park a couple blocks away and walk there. Public pay parking available on the streets nearby.
This is a small beach surrounded by great hotels and restraints that offers a secluded feel right now. Its the best that Southern Most Key West offers IMO. A must visit spot for any Keys vacation.
It was nice to see but come early if you dont want to wait in line to take a picture
It’s a neat attraction to take your photo at. I’d recommend going early in the morning because the lone can get pretty long. One silver lining of needing to wait in line is that there’s no one else in your photos!
If you go to “Key West” don’t forget to come here to take a pictures!!!But you have to wait in line for a long time, prepare for that too
Nice place to visit.Very far from Miami. You should take at least 3 days to be there. Otherwise is too far.
A significant location as it is literally the most southern part of the usa. Some things to keep in mind, no extraordinary structures or landmarks there and there are very long lines during warmer months. I went in mid September on a very warm day and had to wait about at hr.
Beautiful. If youre a history buff its the perfect place to be. Everybody should definitely visit here at least once.
Crowd people waiting in a line to take photos with the big tank. The sunset is beautiful but it’s short(5 mins). You can see the sea gull flying with the wind breezing, cruise moving from one side to another. It’s totally like a portrait with the warm sunlight.
A nice visit... once :). Seems like everyone who visits Key West will come here so theres always a line and people wanting to take pictures. Cant spend too much time to reflect that youre actually at the southern most point in the U.S. There are plenty of paid parking nearby. On windy days the waves will push water ashore and pull back out so be careful with the little ones.
Stopped by at 5 am on a holiday weekend and we has the place to ourselves!
This is a point in this country that is noteworthy. Very simple but highly significant, so glad I was there.
Everyone wants a family photo, it is perfect for our scrapbook as it is said to be the end of America.
Good place to take a picture but the issue is that there is a long long in the afternoon. I went in the morning at there was STILL a line at 8:20 AM
A must do tourist photo op.I recommend to get there early in the morning to avoid long lines to get your picture taken with this key West landmark.
Conch Republic Seafood is an awesome place, strong adult beverages. We ordered and shared Calamari, Crab Patties, Lobster bisque bowl, all 5 star. The service is excellent, rapid, and friendly, the manager is running a tight ship as you can watch the teamwork, the food is as amazing, delicious, and fresh.
A must see if you come to key west! Absolutely, love taking our annual family photo here.
Its a cool novelty, but expect a line to get photos with it. On average, 20-30 minutes.
It was fun experience. That close to Cuba. Amazing story. Our family watched us live through internet.
In itself not much and put into perspective you should visit and take a photo. Or have one of the many tourists do it for you. The nearby beach and restaurant was okay, we had a coffee and some ice cream, and the entire setting with people and everything made a nice atmosphere.
We had a great time visiting the Southernmost place in the Uniited States...it is in Key West Florida. The ocean was churning with lots of brown water and throwing it up on land onto the monument while people were trying to get their pictures with it! What fun.
Seaside Cafe at the Mansion was excellent! Lobster pizza, coch fritters, salad, biscuits all excellent. Def going back.
Its a cool place to visit and see. There was a line to take pictures. Nice area, pay to park. Its a concrete buoy. Go visit dry Tortuga!!
Always a great place to have your picture taken. Get there early or during dinner. There is a line most of the time.
Its an iconic chunk of painted concrete. Time your visit to this photo spot correctly and you can snap a quick souvenir photo. Plan it poorly and you will find yourself standing in line for a large part of your visit. Pro tip: hail a pedicab nearby and skip the line by having your driver snap a photo from the pedicab (over the crowd, and entirely bypassing the line). Bonus: your pedicab driver will drop you off at another attraction saving a few more minutes of walking.
Really cool and fun spot. Lots of places to eat and scenery is really nice and chill.
Charles Cole is quite entertaining and is a local fixture here at the Southernmost Point of the Keys. Stay on the opposite side of the street if you want to walk anywhere popular in Key West - very, very touristy! The focal point had a big line and it was kinda like the end of the more touristy season (late spring). For some, I’m sure they’d hang here for a while, but for me too cluttered and noisy. More peaceful beauty exists in the middle keys.
Roomy beach and really soft sand. Clean considering they had a hurricane a few days before we arrived.
With the storm surge and high waves from the passing tropical storm made for amazing pictures and was fun to be here.
Cool to say that you went there once but its just a marker.
Spectacular day. Well, for a COVID kind of vacay! Tropical storm Laura has the surf up and the ocean is a sight to be seen. Glorious time to be on the Keys.
If you havent went to the last keys you should at least once. I loved all the chickens walking around, cute little shops, great shakes in the corner shop. Lots of interesting places.
Great spot for photos. Get here early to avoid a line. During bad weather this area may become flooded or have high waves.
Rainy day and still a wonderful experience, the line goes quick, there’s a nice vibe on this place. There’s a bike and scooter rental near to this place so you can check the island after taking your pictures
Would love to return but in the day time. Still enjoyed the vibes of the Keys. Would definitely recommend this place.
This was a really cool experience being at the most southern most point in the United States. We are from Ohio and it was January and a very cold 5 degrees at home the day we was here enjoying a beautiful view of the ocean on a hot sunny 84 degree day. This was our first time to Key West and it was everything I thought it would be.
The only reason I wanted to go to Key West. It is a very touristy town with alot of gift shops and paid attractions. I wanted to visit Sloppy Joes, it was closed. Been there, do not need to go back.
Well!! This as far as you can go!! Looking out across the Gulf of Mexico! Cool place to stop definitely worth the photo op!! Almost in Cuba Baby!
When busy, a line forms down the street for people to take turns getting a photo; it was orderly. A concrete buoy on a corner. No fuss about it. Nothing around otherwise.
Very fun to reach the last point of the USA and be able to visualize the island of Cuba. The town and all its surroundings are well conditioned to be a high flow tourist city where restaurants, shopping mall and attractions are everywhere, prices are tourist. The journey to reach Key West on elevated built on the sea is also part of the charm of the ride.A walk to do it at least once in a lifetime!
Very popular photo opportunity. Always a line. The line moved fast
Nostalgia at its finest. Going to be a line, but it moves fast
THE place to have your picture taken in Key West. Unbelievable view! Be prepared to get wet. Line to get your picture taken can snake down the street. Be patient!
Such a nice lookout. The kids always love going to the southernmost point!
Great photo opportunity. Beware of nearby waves.....can surprise your picture taking event. Hehehe :)
Such a cool experience. The line was pretty long but we went pretty late at night and there was no one there!
