This review has been a long time coming, we go every year and it is always a wonderful experience! It is fun finding the best stalls for food (I recommend the cheese fritters), the best shows, and dressing up in costume each year. Our favorite shows include moonie the magnificent (comedy), the royal falconer, the mud show, and the jousting (mostly to listen to the jerky vendor scream “meeeaaaattt”). They also have shops upon shops with crafts, which are fun to explore. My husband says “it’s heaven on earth” XD
This fair can be a great place to be with your friends and family. The overall look and layout is quite impressive. It is also incredible to see how people get into their characters.I had fun.A WORD OF ADVICE - give yourself time to SAVE $$$ and budget. Coming from a big city, I wasnt as affected by the $7-8 beers... However, I do agree with many of the other reviews. Every year it gets CONSIDERABLY MORE EXPENSIVE without memorable additions. $5 Parking fee + $25 entrance + $11 turkey leg + $8 beers.... In fact the jousting was not as good as last year and it was extremely overcrowded. The Renaissance fair is no longer an event to go if you happen to have a free day. You have to plan for it. If you do it right it can be a lot of fun.
A fascinating experience. It was a pleasure to walk through the streets seeing all of the different setups and structures and acts taking place. Im from the UK. At one point I literally thought Id walked into a street from my home town. Some of the performances are hit and miss. The mud show lasted 30 minutes and 25 minutes of that was them literally asking for money. The joust was a ton of fun. Im sad the side I picked lost but it was very entertaining. The fire whip was pretty cool but there was no designated seating so it was difficult to watch through the crowd.I could go on and on about all the things to do or places to see. Its a tremendous atmosphere with many people dressed for the occasion and all sorts of unique food and beverage and souvenirs available. Im disappointed I couldnt spend more time here but I had a great time and Im glad I went.
One of my favorite places! Its bigger than it looks. I recommend looking at the map and shows online before you go, its easy to miss things because of timing. The first year I went I only really saw the joust, but nothing else.Take the kids one time, then go back and do the adult version with alcohol and the bawdy shows. Wear good shoes, you will walk a lot and on all kinds of terrain.
Always a fantastic time, both with friends and with family! Lots of activities around do, entertainment to watch, and food and drink to keep you running! The costumes are always amazing, I love seeing how everyone dresses- I love dressing up too! Sometimes it’s very hot and makeup, clothing, etc get pretty ruined but on a nice day (like the one I made it on!), it’s just perfect and you neither melt nor freeze!
There is absolutely so much fun to be had by all. This place is set in the time period of the 1500s. Role players and customers alike dress to the max. Costumes are very detailed. Lots to eat, plenty to drink including adult beverages. A total family experience to enjoy. Cone and spend a day relaxing and taking in the ever changing views.
Huge place, very cool experience. Lots of shows, shops, food, entertainers. We cant wait to go back. Wish we had two days there atleast. Parking was 5 bucks. Short walk. Water was 4 bucks a bottle. Check out the washer wench show and the fire whip guy. Mud show was good too. Again. Wish we had more time.
Always a ton of fun! You can never go wrong with going to the RenFaire! Everyone working there is so super nice and the food and drinks are super delicious and reasonably priced! Not to mention all the cool booths with all the cool trinkets! AND THE PICKLES ON A STICK ARE DELICIOUS! I cant wait to go back again! :)
Always fun! Very friendly staff and lots of fun! So much to do… so much to eat, so much to buy. Beautiful area. Uneven ground, but still accessible for all. No mosquitos!!! Ample parking. This is a yearly tradition for our friends and us. Go more than once… youll discover new stuff every time!I only wish it lasted through Halloween. The season is too short!
This place is so fun its a yearly destination for my family and friends. Its setup as a permanent mid evil village. The staff stay in character and are always helpful. Theres food and drink, jousting, games for kids, comedians and plays, shows of various sorts going on. There are faeries and entertainers all over. Town criers tell you of the events about to start. Jousting is several times a day. We really truly love it and go every summer.
I have gone for last 25 years! I started with my fraternity brother and have now take my daughter to see Dirk and Guido and all the wonders if the Renaissance. Cash is king here so make sure you bring it as all food and beverages are cash only as well as parking which is $5 good news is you can bring a water bottle if you are trying to dance calories or money. See a house with knights or get your little girl face painted
I had so much fun! The parking is a tad ridiculous but wasn’t horrible considering how many people attended. The food was really good and fresh, the staff was friendly and kind. The outfits were amazing and there was so much to do here. Can’t wait for next year
Great experience! It was pretty crowded but didnt feel cramped. All of the people were very friendly and committed to the concept and the happiness of the guests. Food and beverage was reasonably priced ($7 for a beer and $2 for a soft pretzel) and it was all delicious too. The only complaint I have is that its is definitely stroller accessible but not stroller friendly. If you have small kids a wagon or something is better than a stroller
Best Renaissance Faire in the American continent. The waters and food may be overpriced ($4 for a single bottle of water is outrageous), but the show and the costumes and stores and games and activities are absolutely astonishing. I go here every year with my friends and family, and I always leave satisfied.
Best place in the world!!!! I go every single weekend!!!! ️ So magical, welcoming, peaceful, and joyful. Absolutely amazing
We have 3 kids 10, 13 and 15. Our family all had a great time. We all ready plan on going back next year but plan to bring our travel wagon for all the things you end up buying. Most of the concessions and games usually cost $5. Not to bad for the wide range of things going on.
Its a fun place, a way better experience than medieval times. Half the cost and you get to do so much more. Actually feel involved in the acts and people around you. So many shops and food options as well. The acts and shows are always great.
The whole place is amazing! Great period buildings, shows all day all across the park, people in amazing costumes - not limited to the usual 1577 attire but fairies and beast and whatever people want to dress as, fun food and shops. I look forward to going next year!
This place was incredible-- the atmosphere is a ton of fun, there are lots of shows that are different throughout the day, the products sold are interesting and mostly high-quality, and there is a huge variety of interesting food to try. Im definitely going back.
Fun but expensive. Do you have period outfits or fantasy gear? Then this is a place to show it off. There are many shows to entertain the entire family all day. Before we knew it, it was 5pm.If you dont have gear and want some then you have a plethora of shops to fulfill almost any fantasy desire. From acorn jewelry to zebra strips. Huge pickle on a stick - they have that too.Jousting four times a day, juggling knives, acrobatics, and even flaming whip cracking.Axes for you dwarves. Swords for elves. Spears for orcs. Armor for knights. The site is large and picturesque. There are plenty of trees for the druid in you to feel comfortable. And if you look carefully then you might even find a four leaf clover. We found two.
Always so fun. Other than trying to capture the funny, awesome, inspiring acts this place takes me out of the current times and puts me in a time when technology didnt exist; it calms me.
Had a great time! I love looking at all of the amazing costumes!
Good presentation of the times but better bring a wallet as they are pretty expensive for drinks, food and definitely souvenirs. Id say in order to really enjoy the experience youll spend about three hundred bucks for a family of four
Amazing food, wonderful actors and vendors. So many kind people and such a wonderful experience. This was my first Ren Faire ever and Ill definitely be making this an annual thing. The themed weekends are a great way to bring in even more people and its fun for everyone.
Incredible experience all around. I have been going to the Scottish Highland Games (another very large festival) for a number of years, but this experience blew everything out of the water. I was stunned by the infrastructure, the immensity on the decorations, the immersive nature of everything around me. It took me over 6 hours before I made it a whole lap around the venue, and after that I was just dying to go see more things I had skipped. Can’t wait to go back next year!
Great place to escape the real world and enjoy the times of old. Great food, and a bunch of shops to get all kinds of stuff. From clothing, jewelry, even weapons. There are fun events to watch throughout the day. Youll be entertained all day!
Really nice time, easily can lose track of time. Food and drinks are really pricey though.
I look forward to this faire every single year, several dozen live FREE shows, hundreds of skilled actors, tours, beer crawls, delicious food, amazing games and absolutely gorgeous cosplays and costumesCome here to embrace your in knight, Viking, princess, or pirate. I cant wait till next year!
The vendors and entertainers are more than wonderful. Ive been going several times a year, for many years. I have ALWAYS had a GREAT time.
What an incredible experience. Fans of Renn Faires will love this place. Tons of shops, food vendors and drink booths. Lots of free entertainment. Mud shows, sword play and fire whips just to name a few. Get there early and stay all day. Wonderful place for people watching too. I just wish it ran into October because when you wear a heavy cloak or exstravigent costume it can be a little uncomfortable in the heat of the end of summer. The grounds are picture perfect, easily immurisible environment. I absolutely adore this place.
Every time I get lucky enough to spend time here, its always been a great experience!!! First time in 20 years, it has grown so much!!! The last pic I posted was the reason why my brothers and I decided to go. My 3 little princesss. They will talk and tell about their experience for hopefully a year!!! They want to return next year. I highly recommend taking your children, and youre inner child to have a very enjoyable experience. Side note, the undesirable bearded princess is me!!! Did it for the little girls. Let loose at the ren fair!!
I love the Bristol Renaissance Faire! Ive been four times in two years. Took my sister here while she was visiting. Great place for adults and children alike. I also purchased some amazing garlic here!
The people, the costumed performers, the wide variety of shows and street performers, the food stalls and beverages as well as interesting shops set in a medieval village was very entertaining. Plus ample stuff for small children.
AMAZING! If I could give more stars I would. Parking is a good walk away so if you have any issue you can either pay for closer parking or have the driver drop off. Lines to get in werent horrible either, though Ive heard they can be. If you arent utilizing any discounts, you can get them online to save time. After your in, head straight to guest services to get a schedule and a map. Then, find a seat grab a Turkey leg and plan your day if you havent already. The fair is really too big to do all in one day, so if you dont have 2 days be sure to plan! Get to events early to get good seats. Have fun! There is so much to see and everyone is nice, you really just cant go wrong. Its great for all ages truly.
My favorite place to go in ALL of Wisconsin. Its the perfect No Judgement zone where EVERYONE can be who they WANT to be or just be THEMSELVES and fun will ensue.
This was my first time to any type of Renaissance fair. My wife and I drove from 3 hours away and it was completely worth it.All of the employees were very happy and delightful to be around and watch perform. Many times we were looking at the map and had people approach us and ask if we needed any direction or any other questions. The food and drinks were fantastic, however be warned that they can be a bit expensive. Its convenient and the proceeds go to ensuring the fair can be around for years to come but expect higher prices.Come early right as they open and plan for a good chunk of the day to see everything. All the shows were well worth watching. Very skilled in pulling in the audience.
Ive lived in the area for over a decade, but never made it to the local Renaissance Faire.Heres the thing, Im not really into this scene, that is, LARPing and such, so I didnt really enjoy myself. That said, a lot of folks seemed to be having a great time. Theyre probably more qualified than me to give a decent review. All in all, if you like dressing in period garb, $7 beer, and deep fried junk food this is the place to go!
Just love it! A great time for all ages and all levels of cosplay enthusiasts, including spectators. No need to dress up but I think it really adds to the fun! Good food and entertainment!
Go every year, love it every year. Huge shout out to all the actors who interact with the guests and make the experience amazing! Highly recommend! Bring your family and your friends.
The place that i will remember and revisit next year...such a great magical experience full of joy, wonders and the staff is so well incorporated and in the mood of the theme. Lovely and brings smiles to everyone here
Always a fantastic time! From the entertainment, the food, the shopping... brought our 2 year old and even he had a great time!
Always a great time for any age ! So many awesome shops with unique items. Our family loves it !
Been going for years and it never gets old. I love that some things change while others are consistent every year. The food and shows are great. Parking is simple and well organized. I wish there was a bit more seating near the food, but that is not the end of the world.
Always a most glorious time at the Renaissance Faire. I felt just like a kid in a candy store. If fantasy, tomfoolery and maybe even a wee bit of skullduggery are your thing, you will seriously not be disappointed when you visit The Bristol Renaissance Faire!!
Always fun! Ive been going annually for over 15 years and cant wait to go every year. Great food and entertainment everywhere. Dont miss the Royal Falconer!
You pay to get in, then you pay for everything else. So if you have never been them prepare for that. Other than that this place is awesome. A lot of people in character and sporting awesome costumes. Highly recommend as the food is delicious as well.
Better and better every year! Simply amazing! Best one in the country!
Great food and drinks clean. Rides and show was a nice surprise and I didnt know that this place was as big and fun. They have shade areas between the trees lots of fun for kids
Its magical.so much to see and do . entertainment everywhere. Love love love this place
One of the best summer entertainment around Chicago. My tips:• Check the weather before you go.• Get there as soon as possible to have a time to see all shows.• Have ~$50 in cash for delicious food and beer
Beyond words..so much fun for all ages. Lots to do and see live performances.
Lets you leave the hustle and bustle of the 21st century... If you have an imagination of course. There is still Pepsi and ATMs, just go with it.
The best ever! Everything from costumes to shows & drinks to food is excellent. Getting the Mushrooms and Turkey leg is a must.
Great, unique, fairytale, & awesome experience! Do you like theme days, costumes, & Renaissance shows?? This is the place! During the summer each week provides a different costume theme. Feel free to dress up, but not required. Between mini live shows, various shops, food, & booze the faire is so entertaining one can be there from 5-8 hours without being bored. Conducive for adults, teens, and families. Did I mention the random cool fairies that run around? Be sure to stay for the epic jousting tournament at the end. Been attending for 3 years & each year gets better & better.
Bristol does a great job of transporting you to a place unfamiliar to your senses. Youll see sights of places and characters youve never seen before. You can find great tastes that will be new to you. If you wander through the appropriate shops youll find new smells to. My first trip here I made the mistake of not giving myself enough time to explore the whole place. Its huge! You can find discounted tickets if you search for them but even full price at the door is worth the experience youre going to have. See some shows theyre happening all around and most are great. Moonie is a go to. Lynx show was cool too.
What an amazing experience! I cannot believe I never been here ! So excited for next year. My almost 3 year old loved it. Be prepared to spend some money
Good place to enjoy some non-historically accurate fantasy with costumes and products ranging from ancient Egypt to Steampunk Victorians. Great food and drinks for a kind of steep price. Enjoy a day here taking in the sights, sounds and shows; just watch out for the back scabbards!
Love go as much as I can
I always LOOOOOVE coming here!! This is a place you can pretend to be a King, Queen, Knight, commoner, Fairy or, yes, even a Dragon. What ever you can imagine and design to wear it, you can be that. I have been going to the Faire with my husband for the past 20 years. You would think it gets boring after going a few times but, every year we have gone, theres always something and/or someone new that you have never seen before. This is an experience everyone should partake at least once in their life time.
Fun no matter the occasion
One of the biggest and best events in the area. Ive been coming here for years, and so many of the performers here have been mastering their shows for YEARS and give the same knock down performance 5 times a day every weekend.Definitely more of an adult attraction than for the young ones, but there is still much fun to be had for the whole family.Good food, Better people, Overall just a great time. Also, even the most simple of costumes really makes a difference here. The whole event feels better on weekends where more guests are in costume, even the basic ones.
I love the magic and period dress...the shows are hilarious...the food is good (especially the Turkey Legs). There are multiple drinks available - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Dress up in your Renaissance finest, as dressing up is a big part of the fun. You can dress as any mythical being...I usually go as a fairy. The vendors have a lot of cool, never find anywhere items...however, dont get so stuck looking at the vendors that you miss out on the rest of the fun activities!
Always a good time to be at Bristol... its where fantasy comes alive. Friends, family... everybodys having fun and its great to be part of it. A photographers heaven.
Love to step into this other world!!! It is always a great time. I love getting into the spirit. Always enjoyable. The fairies are my favorite.
Spectacular. So much to see and so much to do for kids and adults . Facepainting, carousel rides. Wall climbing to scale those castles, candle making and other things. Entertainment for the entire family. A great time to be had. Costumes and jewelry are quite expensive so bring your mula. Loved the entire experience. Plenty of food and beverages . A must for anyone at least once in their life.
Great place super fun for adults and family
This was literally one of the most magical and freeing experiences of my life!!! I just recently attended the Renaissance Festival for the first time, and I can honestly say that I will plan to go every year now!! Words cannot explain the feelings I felt but I do hope the details are able to help convey my position. From the jousting tournament to the book store.. Literally everything you encounter is magical. There were all types of beautiful fairies sparkling about sharing their joy and excitement. As well as many Lords and Ladies of the court denying their very existence.. There was a great Tower (wall) for which you can climb and save the fair maiden.. there were booths to sharpen your archery skills and blacksmiths for you to purchase or sharpen your weapons and armor. Great story tellers from across the land are waiting for you to lend your ear to their great songs of adventures and tales. There are also many shops for you to gain more knowledge and skills of wizardry or sorcery, or to just purchase new wands or staffs for your spells and alchemy. The food is great and will accommodate those who may eat cattle and those who strictly stick to crops. Everyone is friendly and dont mind being themselves and wearing the garment of their hearts desire!! This place is great for Family and Friends!! Cant wait to see you next year!!Huzzah !!!!
We had a friend in from out of town so we decided to spend the morning at the Bristol Renaissance Faire. What a cool place, surprises around every corner and staff that make you feel fully immersed in the experience. The food and drink prices are very reasonable and most attractions are included with the ticket price. There are so many vendors selling all kinds of items it is hard to visit them all in one trip. When you make the trip I promise you will not be disappointed.
Great place for families..great foods..great folks and very kind service...wld have given 5 stars if the merchandise was not to $$$
This is a rennaissance fair for everyone bawdy fun for adults. Lots of kid activities. The shop keepers and village people stay true to costuming and character. Felix Needleworthy costumes are the best quality and will last forever. Lotion Candles is the best gift or luxury purchase. Check out the Stuart Abelmam glass blowing booth, his art will change you for the better. Barely Balanced and the silk aerialist, Moonie and the Tortuga Twins are top notch performers and do not disappoint.
One of the best Faires in the country. Amazing performances, shops and location.
Superb place to spend the day. Great food and amazing atmosphere. Plan on spending some money, especially if you want souvenirs.
My husband and I love to go to Bristol. The atmosphere is fun and the dedication of the workers is admirable, especially on very hot days when they have to be in full garb. Its mostly family friendly, with some bawdy humor from the pub crawl and other things. The prices are steep but items are top quality. Even if you dont plan to buy anything, its worth visiting for the experience.
What else can you say but awesome, I go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire at-least once or twice a year. It is unlike any festival out there, to go experience the 16th century is very cool. They have an abundance of food vendors, as well as cool shop vendors for various types of unique souvenirs. They have plenty of entertaining shows that go on throughout the day at various stages around the fair. Its an experience that you will not forget.
Lots to see, do, buy, listen to. Well done treed location with dirt roads, so skip the sandals. Moderately high prices and most food vendors only take cash. Lots of preferred parking only $5. Many many performers wearing great costumes. Many visitors dress in costume also. Fabulous people watching!
Great annual experience and very friendly atmosphere!
All the little shows were awesome. And all the vendors had interesting things.
So much fun. Ive been going here every summer for decades. Atmosphere is amazing. Costumes, shops, comedy shows, food, many activities, the town setup, everything about this fair event is perfectly executed. We really enjoy this place. Highly recommended!
The setting is beautiful. We had fun.
Thank you for embracing freedom of expression! Fantastical!
The best fun you can have in Wisconsin especially for the price.
I started going here 5 years ago. I love this place! Actually my whole family loves this place!
My group got there at the gate opening ceremony at 9:50am and we didnt leave until the last show was over. Its a wonderful place to spend the entire day. Barely Balanced and Iris & Rose were my favorite shows.
The Bristol Renaissance Faire was a lot of fun. Very entertaining, lots to see and do. good food good entertainment. Fun for the whole family.
Love the Bristol Renaissance Faire and our family makes the attempt to visit every summer! You become totally immersed in 1599 England with vintage costumes, food choices, cool merchant markets, and fun entertainment. My personal favorite event is the Queens Jousting Show. This Festival is a wonderful destination for any age. No way to describe the greatness of this Faire in a short review!
A well run fair. Great people working there and and the site is wonderful. It is more kid friendly than others but that’s okay.
This is my favorite place to go. I love the Faire, the shops, the performers, the food, and the overall spirit of the place. I cant say enough about the Bristol Renaissance Faire so Ill keep it simple: go.
Hadnt been here since I was around 8 yrs old. I really enjoyed it here. Its fun seeing even patrons dress up. Mud show was the best!
This was a lot of fun! I felt immersed in an old timey village with lots of wares for sale. We strolled around, listened to a group singing songs of the sea, watched a Ivanovich the magician perform tricks, and cheered on the jousters. We were also impressed by the Barely Balanced routine. The only disappointment was the belly dancing. When we left, there was so much we still hadnt seen! There is a rich assortment of experiences, and this would be a great place for kids. And wear a costume! Anything from super hero to Renaissance to favorite sarcastic t-shirt works- its part of the fun!
You really feel like you submerge yourself into the times of renaissance.. so much fun just to spend the day enjoying food, shows, parades, jousting tournaments, and more.. its well worth the price of admission!
I go to Renn Faire every year with friends and family and its always a great time. There are so many shops and shows to see and a great variety of foods to enjoy. I always start my day there with a waffle cone but highly recommend the cheese fritters and crepes. Some of my favorite shows are Moonie, Adam Cracks whip show, and the Mud show. Too many great shows, food and shops to see all in one day so go twice if you can!
Its such a family oriented fun-filled place full of lots to do, see, eat and buy!
The only sounds are those of loved ones and other humans. Fascinating to notice my mind being confused by a lack of noise pollution and settling allowing the Faire’s employees talent and rides to satisfy, which they excelled at ... the 4 vs 5 stars is the price point for nearly everything. 4 kids, two and half hours, six rides, one drink ( no food ) and excluding a few souvenirs it was another $175 after admission.
Great place to spend a few hours or a day! There are plenty of cute shops and food options; most of which only take cash. Bring lots of small bills to tip the many performers who provide the wonderful entertainment!
Kings, queens, turkey legs, and wackados. This place has them all! Great food and great entertainment. The falcon show was amazing!
A place where magic and fantasy come to life, where stories become reality. Plan to spend the whole weekend exploring the shops, shows, and faire grounds. Come as you are or go all out with costumes, nothing is too much or too far fetched for this magical place, but WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES because youll want to explore everything and talk to everyone!!Perhaps youll have stories of your own when you leave, like how a fairy stole a fry but gave you a pearl, or how dragon tears are collected, maybe you witness the bonechilling Dance of the Macabre or perhaps you speak with The Queen herself. The possibilities are endlessFood and drink prices are actually fantastic, the food is AMAZING!!! The shops and stalls are where youll spend the most money, but consider this, everything you see in the shops is handmade, the old fashioned way. Leather that was tanned, designed and then bound into beautiful one of a kind journals all by hand. Thats the same quality you will find in EVERY shop you visit. One trip to Faire and youll be hooked, imagination, fantasy and reality all combine for a life changing experience youll want over and over again!!!
Excellent Food and Entertainment!
An amazing time. Come prepared to tip to support the actors and workers. Its part of it. Get to the shows you want to see early. Seats fill up. Dress up. Enjoy yourself. Its fun.
