Katy, Texas continues to expand. The growth is mostly families and it makes sense, given the Katy school district and its reputation for excellence. Parents may wonder what to do with their kids outside of school hours, but there are more activities that you might realize and one of them is World Theater Katy. This theater is located on Mason road and it is very easy to drive past it and not even realize that a theater is there. Part of the reason is the small parking lot. The inside of the theater has seating for a few hundred spectators, but the parking is limited. I recommend arriving early for any show, just to be completely safe. You will have to park a good distance away and walk if spaces are taken, and this is a strong possibility.World Theater Katy isn’t structured like the typical theater. The seats are arranged on a single level- they are not elevated in the back and lower in the front, like you expect. This means there could be a problem viewing the stage if you happen to find yourself sitting behind someone who is tall. Yes, the stage is elevated above the seats, but it could still be an issue. The snack bar in the back is small and has limited options, but the prices are lower than expected, so that is a definite plus.My greatest issue with World Theater Katy is the productions themselves. Frequently, the microphones fade in and out while performers are speaking or singing so you may end up missing parts of the play. And the actors with minor roles have no microphones at all, so you have to hope that they speak loudly or else you won’t catch what they say.I know that World Theater is rented out on Sundays for church services. It is probably better suited for this purpose, the more I think about it. For plays, it does have issues like I stated, but it is a good way to keep the kids occupied during the summer so when I think about all of the pros and cons, there are enough good points to give World Theater Katy a middle rating overall.
Its fair to call this place a hidden Jewel of the Preforming Arts in the World of Children. Its fair to say that it very well managed with a great deal of faith based love. The owners have a passion for their craft. Itsvery evident that developing the students in respectfulness for their minds, self-worth and creativity is of THE highest order. The devotion, the team work, the fun, the friendships formed, the energy in which my child was exposed and motivated to was simply inspiring to his mind.If you live in Katy, you drive up-and-down Mason road. Youve passed it numerous times and maybe not even looked at it twice, I know that was the case for me. But I certainly know where it is now and when I pass it... I smile. I highly recommend this wonderful Oasis of creativity, independent and faith based Theater training. And further more...there is a place here...for any child in any situation or status. A place for them to be encouraged and more importantly, to endeavor to persevere in their dreams of ones future self.
My son went to camp here. Nothing special about the facility. However, for an 8 year old without any previous acting or performance experience this place was transformational, mostly because of the teachers who truly love theater and want to pass the knowledge to their students. Broadway style performance for parents at the end of two weeks was excellent. Will definitely try to come back.
There are no public restrooms in this place, or at least they were not available when I visited. Parking space is limited here but around the is easy to park. The stage and the chairs are at the same level so its kind of hard to see if someone taller is in the line in front of you.
I was so impressed with the production of The Lion King! Great choreography. The kids are all so talented!
In my opinion, this theatre is very racist to black children. If you are white, they treat you with promise and purpose. If you are black they treat you like you dont matter and. just brush you aside. My advice, if you are black, is to pick a more diverse Theater
My boys, 11 and 8, just spent 2 weeks at summer camp there. They absolutely loved it. The instructors were great and the performance kids put on at the end of camp was really amazing.
Very nice place! Spacious! The tech personnel is very good! Lawrence! Thanks a lot!
Great people. Wonderful please with such a thriving environment!
A wonderful group of people / professionals who help bring out the creativity and excitement of the Theatre to all ages.
They work with the children and encourage them to never give up when they get frustrated about knowing their lines the first rehearsal
Nice sized venue for community events. They have decent amenities like lights, projection and sound. You can seat a lot of people here. Bathrooms and dressing rooms are in the adjacent building, but the cross over is short and covered. I would say my only complaint is the lackluster parking situation. There are a plentiful amount is says spots, but a bigger event could fill them. We saw a Pointe of Grace stage performance here.
We love working with World Theater. The staff is awesome. Highly recommend to anyone.
It was our first time visiting and we loved the play Mary Poppins! Wonderfully executed!
Really good cast! The Wizard of Oz will be a lot fun.
The Gravity Church meets here at World Theater on Wednesdays 7pm and Sunday 10a m. The service is awesome. Lovely people, awesome worship and Word.
Great cast and owners. Had a fun time!
They have salsa and Bachata Dance Clases
To rent the place, it is too small for the rental price. People are not helpful at all
