Black Dolphin is a small but mighty little jazz club in the Crossroads district of KC. Tasty beverages, friendly staff and great music makes for a fun night. What I love about the Dolphin is that everything is about the music, you walk in next to the stage and the bar is at the back of the long rectangular club. All the seats are angled toward the stage, focused on the musicians. During set breaks they everybody just mingles. It is down to earth and simple. I am fan.

I’ve enjoyed the Black Dolphin on several occasions when Lonnie McFadden was performing. I don’t see him on the upcoming schedule. What happened? He made this Lounge my favorite place.

I think this picture sort of captures it all. Jazz. The same drink menu as the Green Lady - which as a fan of bourbon cocktails I loved it. Plan to come back.

I had been to Green Lady, but never here. Different vibe, but I had a great time. Old school vibes. Sexy. Watch the music.

A very great place for live jazz entertainment atmosphere was lovely and performers were outstanding and a great place to just relax and enjoy the Classy Fill of the Chicago, New York, New Orleans vibe wish they served some different Appetizers

Hip, industrial, urban vibe. Great location next to The Green Lady Lounge. Comfy couches by the wall, with a vast selection of drink choices. Enough people on a Thursday night that it felt popular, but not too packed. Reasonable prices and quick service. They have a couple of food options if you are hungry. We came to see Lonnie McFadden, and he did not disappoint! It was a great time. We would go back again.

The Black Dolphin. What can you say without using too many superlatives? Great staff that is right there when you need them. Great menu of drinks, excellent bartenders. And the acoustics in the place are amazing. There is no bad seat in the club.

Came here on New Years and watched Boogaloo 7 ring in 2018! I ha e been to Green Lady lounge and this is an extension with a dance floor. I met a friend and they started at Green Lady Lounge. He told me they transferred his bar tap right over to Black Dolphin when they moved. Great service, drinks, and atmosphere.

Saw Lonnie McFadden Quartet. They hit it out of the park. Grand slam home run. Im from Utica, NY and a local told me to check him out. Glad I did. Exceeded all my expectations. When you can feel the music, not just your body but your soul you know youre on to something unique and great.

We saw the wonderfully talented Lonnie McFadden on our first visit to the Black Dolphin. Along with the band, he plays the trumpet, the flugelhorn, tambourine, and has the most incredible voice-- smooth as silk. The audience also got an amazing treat when he invited a young man up to do some tap dancing and then they became a duo! I only wish they could make that a regular part of the show. Bathrooms are clean, staff is courteous and prompt, no cover charge. My only critique is how dark it is, but its not worth taking a star. The entertainment and talent here is the draw, we will definitely be returning!

Service seems best when youre at a table. Music is well mixed and fills the room. Restrooms are easily accessible. It gets busy but isnt as cramped as next door at Green Lady. Not aware of a close parking lot but Ive never had to look hard for somewhere in easy walking distance.

Drink prices are very high! The atmosphere is amazing, very calm. Staff is attentive but they do not hover, which is good. Im very pleased with my evening, it has been a very long time since I have been able to walk into an establishment and feel completely comfortable. The live music was spectacular! Im not normally a jazz person but the Sextets are great! I would defiantly recommend the Black Dolphin if you are looking for a nice calming relaxing evening!

An extension of the Green Lady, this is the third option for music with a larger golden stage versus the red theme of the Green Lady. Having just opened, its a little less busy than next door. Couches and tables. A bit hard to notice due to little signage at the moment.
