I booked a 2 hour ride for 9 of us and it was incredible! We arrived a bit early and got to see the wranglers drive the horses into the pen. We had people ages 8 to 65 in our group with varying levels of experience. They took great care to teach us everything we needed to know. The views on the ride were incredible. I would definitely come back again on our next trip. Shout out to our awesome wranglers Skylar and Tyler.
Very nice people and horses. Their dogs were super sweet and they had great food. They would let you choose your horse and feed it!
We have come year after year. They ask you to not give them a good review because they are to busy and dont want to busier. You have to Call from a Phone! We have gone many times but having the pleasure of Cecil..... What a Man. He brings you back to earth, the love he expresses from the beginning with his wife. The spices they sell to raise money. The story of the horses being related. Honestly! Even when they showed me the Group BBQ Pit made from Horse shoes. This is where I want my money to go! I Cant say enough. But they dont want to get busier. They deserve the accolades. But Cecil... I dont want to give away your incredible retreat. This is therapy. With the Truest HeartCanadian NeighborCovid SucksPatti PetersenEdmonton, Alberta
Beautiful ranch! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We booked the 4 hour horseback ride and had so much fun! The views were breathtaking. They even packed snack packs and waters for us to take on our ride so when we stopped halfway through we had snacks. If we ever come back to montana to visit we are definitely coming back here to go on another trail ride. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good place to go on a trail ride.
I hadn’t been on a horse in 50 years, my daughter probably 30 so we were a bit nervous about how we’d do on the rides. We were pleasantly surprised at how well we did. The pre ride instructions set us up for success! The horses Cecil has trained are gentle and so well loved and cared for. The guides have a lifetime of experience, are professional, keep everyone safe and have plethora of knowledge about riding, the horses history and the terrain we rode AND consider themselves lucky to be working at Artemis Ranch. We loved our 3 day stay at the ranch and can’t wait to go back!
This was way beyond my expectations. The grandkids got to ride their own horse. They were thrilled. The staff was patient and taught the basics before the ride. We went with just our group. We opted for the dinner after and cannot say enough. Plenty of good food, cookies, smores, and lemonade. There was also live entertainment. The highlight was watching them ride in with all the horses and then getting to hang out and mingle with them.
We booked Artemis Trail Ride for our wedding anniversary this year in September. I had read online that this wasn’t your “typical trail ride” & that they would actually allow you to take the horses for a run as opposed to just a slow moving trail ride. Our wrangler was new & was really struggling to get one of the horses to keep up- so we ended up going on an extra super slow trail ride (which if that is what you’re looking for - perfect)! We had to stop every 15-20 minutes to allow the horses to catch up. When I asked if we could take the horses for a run, she responded with “we don’t want to tire them out for their later rides.” I was very disappointed as that is specifically why we booked with them. Worth mentioning they ask you if you want to add the tip to your credit card at the beginning of the ride (if you have no cash + there is a 3% CC fee)- I didn’t love that either. Also there is only an outhouse on-site, make sure to use the restroom prior to your ride!
We had a fantastic 2 hour ride! The horses are beautiful, well cared for, and well trained. The wranglers did an excellent job of pairing people to horses for the ride, pointing out wildlife and tracks, and keeping an eye on everyone in the ride. The view at the overlook is amazing. It’s a wonderful trail ride for everyone, beginner to experienced riders.
I used to be friends with Cecil, the owner of this ranch. I guess I was not his friend!!! I treated him with respect and honor because he was a hard working man for his family and the public.I was surprised tonight to find out how he is for real. (His true self came out of the closet) my fiancee used to work for him but she got a better paying job with benefits for the family. Cecil said no problem. So tonight I asked him if he would allow my son during a youth hunt travel through his property and hunt on stultz land which stoltz land is free to the public to use for hunting and he said no since your fiance quit you guys are not allowed on my property and I will be calling the authorities if you step foot on my property.I thought we were friends but obviously hes two-faced. Do not ride at his property whatever you do he is all about money and greed
Very lovely place to go!! The people where amazing and very kind! It was a such a blast to do for the day:) I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the area! Thank you for such a fun time:)!
Horses were so loved and well taken care of!! Everyone was wonderful.. fell in love with everything and my horse Duce!
Incredible experience and friendly people!
Fantastic and friendly help and guidance from them for first time riders, and one of us was only a 5 & 1/2 year old who they accommodated superbly. They have great routes over the mountain side, and we would love to return for one of their BBQ evenings to finish off the ride!
Id give this place a 10 Star rating if I could. Alexis and her crew are simply awesome. The horses are well trained and super lovable. The trail was magnificent. Diane and her cooking crew are exceptional as well. I recommend doing the cook out. Cecile was great and very communicative. Everything was just perfect.
Oh my, this was amazing. We rode with three adults and three kids (ages 9,7 and 7). Our wrangler Matt was exceptional. The horses were well trained and you could tell they were dearly LOVED. At the end of the ride each rider was assisted to dismount and lead their horse into the hitching post area. They then got to feed their horse and have some extra time enjoying the horse. The wranglers know each horse in depth, and who are brother/sister etc. This is not your standard horseback riding stable. If I could give six stars I would. It was a highlight of the trip for the kids.
Super nice Wranglers, wonderful horses and such a beautiful trail! We booked the 2 hour tour which was the perfect amount of time to see Montanas wonderful landscape! And we really noticed how the horses are treated well!We loved it!
Friendly staff, Jessica was knowledgeable about the local flora and wildlife. We rode in a small group with us and one other couple. The animals seemed happy and well cared for. The property was like riding around in heavem. A brisk cold montana morning ride through the beautiful pine trees and berry bushes... beautiful views, I will be back with more friends the next time we visit.
Amazing ranch. Our wrangler was the best. The horse they gave me named Sundae was perfect. Def would book w them again.
Took the whole family out for a 2 hour ride. Alexis was our guide. Unbelievable staff OUTSTANDING HORSES. My 4 year old son road his own horse. Recommend to everyone and to all riders. Thanks for the awesome ride made my daughter’s vacation.
We had a wonderful time, the Wranglers and the horses were great. Great 2 hr. ride on a beautiful trail.
My niece loved the horse riding here! Kind guides and well tended horses were a joy to see.
Our trail leaders Skylar and Jessica were friendly and fabulous. We had a great ride and will return. Special nods to Deuce, Jack, Frankie, Parker and Sweetie.
What a awesome place. We did the hour ride but would definitely come back and do afternoon with the bbq dinner happy hour scenario. Everyone was super nice !
2 years ago, I took my “little sister” (through BBBS program) for her birthday treat!!! We were treated incredibly well and knew I had taken her to the right place! Alexis was our wrangler for our 2 hour ride and did an amazing job keeping everyone engaged in the ride and conversation!2 weeks ago, we were having a company function and had several people come from out of town! A few of the ladies and I decided to go on a horseback ride so of course I contacted Artemis Acres and again, they did not disappoint ~ this time it was a 4 hour ride and Kasey was awesome!!!As if that wasn’t enough, yesterday my friend and I took her 4 yr old out there - we didn’t make an appointment because we weren’t sure if he would ride but I thought it might be fun just to bring him out there to see the horses and just try to get him comfortable so we could take him in the future! Alexis was awesome and very welcoming when we got there (again, unannounced visits aren’t always a good thing) - she let us hang out with the horses and even told us to go down to where the baby was...when we came back, the owner Cecil greeted us and asked if we wanted to let Zander brush one of the horses!! Cecil even gave Zander a horseshoe to bring home! He was so proud of that horseshoe and talked about our visit throughout the day!I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT ARTEMIS ACRES AND THE STAFF- THANK YOU FOR MAKING A LITTLE BOY VERY HAPPY!!
Great staff, friendly horses. A must do while in town
This place is great. Listen, learn, trust them and have fun. Great horses and great people in a beautiful setting!
My husband and I had a wonderful 2 hour horseback ride this morning. Alexis (Lexi) could not have been nicer and we loved the gentle horses. It was a pleasure meeting Cecil and Lexi and spending our last morning in Montana at Artemis Acres.
We were a family of 16 novice horse riders and the staff here were very helpful for all of us, ranging in ages from 6 to 73. The dinner at the end was a great meal, with awesome entertainment, friendly service, and the best part was watching the horses run up the hill. Would definitely recommend this for anyone.
Really awesome riding experience! Amazing staff. Very accommodating. While our 6 year olds and adults rode off for an hour, they saddled Freckles for our toddlers to ride. We got to visit with the friendly foals too. We were even given permission to drive up to their picnic area while we waited. We were thoroughly impressed with our visit.
Beautiful scenery and wonderful trail ride
So much FUN AMAZING Peeps️
We initially contacted the ranch about the ride that included the BBQ dinner but were told that they were not doing it on the days that we were in town so we booked a 2 hour trail ride instead. My husband spoke with the gentleman on the phone for some time about dates, times, costs, etc. We when we arrived there appeared to be no one around, we waited for a bit and then went and knocked on the door. When the gentleman answered the door he said Oh yes, I tried to get ahold of you at least 12 times but never got through (my husband never received a call or message, so he had obviously written down the # incorrectly). We dont actually do trail rides on Sundays. At the time of the call he and my husband definitely discussed if we would prefer Saturday or Sunday. After booking well in advance and driving 10 hours to get to Kalispell the news that we would not be doing the main event that we had planned to do was extremely upsetting. My husband asked if there was anything that he could do and was told no. Not even a consolation prize walk around the ranch to introduce us to the horses, just nothing. Im sorry but if you booked an appointment and were not able to contact the customer to cancel you should have had someone there ready to take them out, not just say sorry and close the door in their face. VERY disappointing! After calling around to every ranch in the area (that were of course all booked) we lucked out and had an owner offer to stay after hours to take us out just because they could not believe how poorly we were treated by Artemis Acres. We plan on going back to Kalispell, as it is an amazingly beautiful place, but would NEVER book at Artemis Acres ever again!
I dont see how this place has any bad reviews! My wife and I had an amazing time! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. We went for the hour ride and dinner, and I honestly dont think they could have made it any better! Hopefully we will be able to do this again!
Ive stayed at Artemis Acres several times since 2013. Staying here instead of a hotel in town makes business trips seem like vacations. I dont always have time for the horseback rides but on the two occasions that I have ridden the horses it was awesome. The guides take you along a beautiful mountain trail to a ridge line that allows views of two spectacular lakes. The horses are beautiful and well-trained and I love being around them. The staff members and owner are genuinely friendly and helpful. Ive stayed at Artemis Acres enough times that Ive gotten to know them and I look forward to seeing them each time. The BBQ is one of the highlights of Artemis Acres. Even if you dont stay at the ranch I would recommend attending a BBQ if you can. Its held in a scenic meadow with the horses nearby. The staff builds a bonfire and both times Ive been able to attend theres been a local couple who talk about Montana history and play guitar and fiddle. Theyre very personable and do a great job of making the experience memorable. The staff provides a dramatic surprise during the BBQ that I wont spoil but is quite a crowd-pleaser! The food is excellent as well.
Three girlfriends (all of us older ladies), and I stayed at Artemis Acres for three days in September and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The owner, cook and all the staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food and the owner, cook and staff sat down and ate with us, so we felt right at home and learned lots about the area and Montana. Our horseback rides were absolutely fabulous. The views were stunning. The guides taught us lots about flora and fauna and the horses were great--gentle and dependable. The room and bath were cozy, clean and comfortable. We would definitely encourage you to stay here and we plan on a return trip. Susan from Georgia
It was absolutely amazing I had such a great time all the horses are so nice. They do such a great job keeping the horses from bieng barn sour. One of the wranglers Alexis was so great and ended up being one of my good friends.
One of the best experiences Ive had! We were a bachelorette party of 5 girls. The staff were very accommodating from the start of planning this trip up until the end! The horses were very well taken care of, very sweet, and gentle. The views were spectacular. Over all a very lovely time!
What a beautiful place to go horseback riding. I was there in late August and our group did the two hour tour. We were all newbies but the staff is so helpful and the horses are trained very well anyone could do this. We rode up on whitetail deer and even startled a black bear cub. You go up the mountain and through the trees. Really a beautiful place. I brought a go pro and got some great pictures. Two hours may not seem like a long time but if your new to riding your butt and knees will be very sore.
Beautiful horses, scenery and staff. What a lovely experience!
Amazing place
The two hour horseback ride was excellent. The horses were all sweet, and knew the path, the guide was helpful, and the views were fantastic! This was my first horseback riding experience and it was a lot of fun, and the two other people in my group enjoyed it as well.
You have to go to this place if you want an amazing horseback riding experience. They love and adore thwir horsesand what they do for a living. Meticulously kept ranch, kind, warm, friendly, knowledgeable, makes the experience memorable and the horses are beautiful. The young woman leading the trail rides, is fantastic, personable, kind and upbeat. They treat their horses well and are never over worked. Love this place and you will too!
I am not sensitive, nor am I unresonable. I do not wright reviews unless the experience was truly exceptional or absolutely terrible. Our experience here was approximately one week into August 2016 and Im still thoroughly upset.Owner was extremely rude to my family, my friends, and myself. He literally YELLED at us for 5 minutes straight. Comments included telling father to, Shut up and we were all stupid, ignorant, and lacked common senseMy father had a multi-night cabin that he pre-paid for and only stayed one night after being evicted. My father (whos name was on the rental) left a 2 star review as well on an affiliate website received a harsh and hostile phone call from the owner regarding the review. This gentleman ruined the weekend.Oh yea, the reason all this started, my girlfriend used the shower in my parents room. (we were camping on his property, and didnt have the luxury of using his facilities)Take this for what its worth but Ive never met a more unpleasant person. If you do decide to provide this gentleman with your business, you may want to have a secondary option handy...
Friendly cowboys and cowgirls. Wonderful selection of horses
Awesome experience. Staff was super friendly and fun to work with. Would definitely come again!!!
Horses were good. 2 of the staff members (including the owner) were extremely rude. They were constantly yelling and chewing out customers for stupid things. Would highly not recommend. It got to be extremely irritating and ridiculous. Save yourself.
They did not care about their customers at all! Felt like they were just trying to get you through to make money. Very dusty trail and the workers like to chew you out!
Extremely personable
