A W E S O M E. Bring some boards out and get ready to mellow out on these little pieces of paradise. Theres a little underwater cave with a beach inside that is totally worth getting into!! Looks scarier than it actually is, just keep your hands up and watch your head. Make sure to leave it cleaner than when you first got there!

One of the two islands you can land on, this island is a bird sanctuary...so part of it is accessible. You can kayak out from the beach, spend some time on this island, and then head back...a good 5-6 hour adventure. Its an awesome spot to recharge and take is the ocean, wildlife, and surrounding views.

Lovely little retreat. You only have a small beach to work with. The area for the birds nesting is demarcated with rope. There is a hiking trail which I could not complete due to insufficient shoes. The trail is Ricky with sharp rocks. Saw an Hawaiian Monk Seal taking a break on the island while were there.

Beautiful nature reserve. Great experience to reach the island by sea kayak with the chance to see sea turtles on the water surface. Also good for snorkeling.

A popular gem on the island of Oahu. Its a bird sanctuary so you cam only explore the island on the fringes. There is a beach you can navigate to where you can leave your watercraft at. Sometimes there are hawaiian monk seals sun bathing. If there are keep a safe distance. During bird mating season be very careful if the eggs near the paths. On the backside you can jump into the water but be careful of the tide... speaking of being careful. When you paddle out watch for the sections where it is really shallow. If you go through it theres a good chance youll harm the reef by dragging over it. Dont follow the people in the yellow kayaks. Look for someone who is supping or more local as they know how to get out there without harming the reef.

Recommend kayaking here. Just get proper sunscreen that does not pollute the ocean + don’t pollute yourself.

Definitely a tough paddle to get there. View from the islands is great but not much to do there as cant really leave the small beach area.

Kayak here early to be among the first on the island. It gets busy as the morning rolls on, so if you want to explore the island solo, youll want to depart from Kailua around 9am. Snorkeling with the sea turtles and colorful fish was a highlight! Cant wait to make another trip here.

A must do. Its so beautiful to kayak there and just enjoy the crystal clear water and view. Make sure that you have enough arm strength and navigate around the reefs.

Its so much fun to kayak out here! It took about 2 hours to paddle here from Kailua Beach, and less time to go back. We went in December, so there werent any sea birds nesting at the time. Theres a small trail that goes part of the way around the island. Id definitely kayak back to the Mokes again

So beautiful. Take kayaks there, but beware the weather and currents. If it’s windy, don’t go out as it can be very rough. Bring lots of water. There’s not much on the island itself except for a beach, tide pools (beautiful), and birds. If you hike around to the left, all the way to the end, there’s cliff jumping into a great snorkeling spot where rough waters are trapped in a pretty adventurous swimming hole. If you hike to the right, there’s a nice tide pool over cliffs which makes for great photos and relaxing. Bring shoes as there’s a lot of lava rock and that combined with slippery feet, make for a lot of cuts.

Easy kayak out to a beautiful beach where you can just layout and soak up some sun or explore the backside of the island where there is a cove you can cliff jump off of on calm days.make sure you pay for the $3 Mokes pass or you can get a $10K fine (the day I kayaked out they were there checking every kayak for the pass). You get the pass at the time you rent the kayak- just tell them you are going to the Mokes.

You can only go on one of the islands and not even all the island, as it is a sanctuary. There is a little beach if you want to sun. Nice cliff diving on the back side if you can figure out how to get around there. Be careful, sharp rocks, big waves, this is a great place to hurt your self in a bad way... but awesome cliff diving

This is easily one of the best day trip things you can do. Buy an inflatable kayak on Amazon or rent a paddleboard/kayak for a similar price. Paddle out to the island on the left and enjoy the converging waves near the beach. Then, walk around the island on the obvious trail. Im not sure if you can safely do a full circle around the island so be careful.

Beach is nice. Can get kinda crowded. One of several places you can observe seals lying on the beach and they seem not to mind people. However, its up to everyone to respect the animals and observe from an appropriate distance. The island is patrolled by life guards on jet skis and depending on the time will advise you to not hike around the other side of the island due to water levels, i.e. tide and crashing waves.

My family loves paddling out on calm days. Lately the beach has been over crowded. Make sure to take plenty water and some food. Be weary of the crazy break when you approach the beach the waves break from the left and the right and can add some excitement for those not expecting unusual break and not experienced enough to keep kayaks or paddle boards upright!

I love kayaking out to The Mokes. Tourists need to be aware of the surf on some days since the waves sweep in and meet at the beach where you land. If in doubt dont go out.
