So many people volunteer to protect and maintain this marsh. It is beautiful. And I wish we had more time to visit again. There are lots of endangered birds that can be seen here. We also spotted some feral pigs playing in the grass.

Its a nice walk/jog or bike path. Bring bread to feed the fish ad well. The kids enjoyed it.

The airfield is very big, but its not very smooth and doesnt have a runway. Majority of pilots that come here usually will take time to offer guidance for newbies.

The main reason we come to this park is to walk the walking trail. It’s so easy for the children to ride bikes or be pushed in a stroller. The trail is paved with a wall on one side and marsh on the other. Pretty views and easy to get to. Totally worth it if you are looking to just get out of the House. Turn at stop light on Kawainui and drive through neighborhood until you see the small parking lot. Once parked walk in the opposite direction of the soccer fields. You will walk through a little garden of flowers and bushes and curve to the left and that’s the start of it. 2 mile trail.

Kawainui Regional Park is a location untouched by development. Its one of the few places where you could walk and/or bike along the access emergency road way, and enjoy the serenity of nature. Everyone should try it at least once while youre in Kailua town. If you do, be sure to take some sun screen and a bottle of water for the trek!
