Beautiful waterfalls in a very pleasant setting at the edge of Joplin, Missouri. It sits on Shoal Creek. Not a lot of parking at the falls, but its ample enough. Up stream from the Grand Falls is the Shoal Creek recreation area. This area has a very nice paved walking trail, grills, large paved parking lot, & a nice cement bridge crossing the creek itself. Bathroom facilities are available at the recreation area but not at the falls. Recreation area is fully handicap accessible but the falls are not. There are huge bedrock stone that can be slippery at times & some climbing may be needed; but still a wonderful sight.

Peaceful. Quiet. I was a little disturbed by the trash...99% of which was cigarette butts. But still nice & worth the visit. Would love to see it during high water!

Drivable, and to get down near the waterfalls is a bit slippery when wet. Overall beautiful place. Looks like a good fishing spot. Saw several fish jump near the fall. Dogs must be on leaches.

Small car alert: parking right at the falls is teeth-rattling rough. Also, Google GPS says destination is on the left. Its not, but a field is. Wish Id seen the parking area that someone else mentioned. There were about a dozen cars in the area on a Friday afternoon. Pretty area.

Beautiful area to enjoy nature. Easy walk to get to riverside. Beautiful shelves of flat cliff areas to enjoy while viewing the waterfall.

It was beautiful. Terrain was a little slippery so you have to be careful when walking. I enjoyed it.

Beautiful place! The landscape is rocky and difficult to navigate both in the water and out so tennis shoes or sturdy water shoes are a must! Of three times weve been its never been overly crowded in the water which the kids love.

The water flowing over the rocks was pleasantly pleasing. This is a well used and enjoyed space. The scenery surrounding the falls was below expectations.

Beautiful blue water spring. Great place for a picnic. Swimming, however is not allowed at the spring itself but there are several spots a short distance away.

Beautiful falls only a short walk from the road so no long hike to see it! Great for older people and kids. Park along the road. Can swim in the water not usually very deep. Watch the current tho. The area was pretty clean too.

Grand Falls is a beautiful small water fall! It is relaxing. You can still go and seat on the top area if you are disabled. You will not be able to go down to the water area if disable. Even so, just being there and observe it is a great experience. This is a great place to visit if you are in the area.

Great place! I love water falls and I like taking photos of scenery so this was a perfect place to visit.

‘Grand Falls’ is no misnomer. Believe me. You will fall. And it will be grand. I probably tripped like 5 times on the rocks. But, if you like doing back flips off of a small cliff and into the water, this is the spot. Dogs also love to splash around here, and it’s a great place to bring your tubes/floaties for a trip down the river. Fair warning though: the green liquid-stuff on the rocks tastes terrible. Additionally check out the weather before you come. The falls are wet enough without you viewing them in the pouring rain. All in all, it’s definitely a happening place, so don’t wait too long before checking it out!

Nice view. A little tough to walk around because of the rocky ground and there were also a ton of people there. Seemed like a great swimming hole.

Surprising place outside of Joplin, MO. Lovely waterfall surrounded by large rocks and woods. Very relaxing to sit on a rock and enjoy the sound of the water. Great walking trail nearby along the river.

Beautiful. My daughter enjoyed skipping rocks, watching the minnows, and filling her cup with water/dumping it out. I enjoyed listening to the soothing rush of the water. Just cant get much better than mother nature!

Neat place to visit right outside of town. Fun to explore and get your feet wet, and its right next to the conservation area if your in the mood for a hike.

We went earlier in the day to avoid crowds. It was getting busier when we left. The falls are peaceful and fun to see. There are places to swim and put in kayaks.

Pretty scenery. Not very crowded when we visited. People were swimming, fishing, and boating. The natural rock formations were very interesting, but the falls were partially man-made. Great place for photos.

Doesnt cost anything. Could easily spend some hours here. Bring some food and hang out in a lawn chair.

Its neat, its free, but theres broken glass everywhere. the areas of water that are shallow enough to walk in are riddled with large and small rocks all of which are sharp and slick as snot. Good luck not breaking an ankle in other words. Its a 5000 dollar fine for having glass bottles in the river. Obviously dnr doesnt care though.

This was very beautiful. Some trash but not too much. We just looked for a few and didnt swim but it has a place that would be perfect for swimming. And would be a beautiful photography spot.

Beautiful falls with horrible parking. This is not a maintained park, its just a spot that locals must party in alot. Trash everywhere and huge potholes, I would not bring small children here.

Look for tadpoles in the small pools, jump off the waterfall, or wade in the shallow runoff. Bring old shoes that you can get wet for water and land and enjoy the scenery. Warning: toddlers, elderly, or injured poeple will have alot of trouble getting around this place, it is very rocky and the current is too strong for little ones, parental supervision is strongly suggested.

I really enjoyed the visit and it cold water and the water fall was awesome. I just wish the people that visit the beach would NOT throw their trash all over. Was wondering if the city or county could put out container to dispose of the trash.

It was visually interesting but no easy access to the water for anyone with Even the slightest disability. Im a strong swimmer but swimming in between the man made in the natural waterfalls looked a little too dangerous for me and below the area was a little bit crowded and not the best area to swim in my opinion.

Beautiful. But no social distancing. Others crowd you. Not a lot of trash laying around. Swimmers and anglers not always a good mix.

Just a beautiful place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful waterfall. And then you can get on a two and float down the current. I saw people going in and out all day. Everybody was real friendly down there.

Beautiful place as everyone in town knows. Its an absolute must to have pictures taken here. Theres also some great fishing and some great places to take a dip cool off. But really its just a wonderful place go and enjoy the view

Awesome place to come and get in a waterfall, theres a few little caverns you can get into, behind them. The swimming is a bit rough. The rocks are tough to walk on water shoes dont help. Not easy for elderly to access if theyre looking to swim. Not a good place to leave your children on attended, Swimming. We had a blast. Didnt know you could swim before we went so we werent prepared but that didnt stop us. Great fun.

Great public creek access point. This is the highest volume waterfall in Missouri. Not tallest or nicest. But a great place to visit, swim, or fish.

This place was really amazing. Such a hidden gem in Joplin. We were on a long car trip and decided to stop here to stretch our legs. We ended up swimming and really enjoyed ourselves. Be sure to wear closed toe shoes because it is a rock creek. Very clean though which was really nice.

First time visiting in the winter, and I have to say, it was just as beautiful as during the summer. A great area to do photography or just take tourist photos.

Great place to get out and enjoy nature, with one of the largest waterfalls in the whole state of Missouri, its a common place for photography. Lots of scenery to take in, plus you can fish and swim here (with fishing license).

Beautiful clear water. Large flat stones all over. Watch for holes while in the water. You can swim and fish here. You can access multiple levels of the water. Camping isnt allowed.

Lots of fun, police presence keeps the less desirable crowds away, go early if you want a spot close to the creek. Water moves pretty fast so dont let kids go to far out unless they are strong swimmers.

Beautiful to look at and clean for the number of people that was there swimming that day. It does get very crowded on the weekends but still a lot of fun.
