Interesting place to go if you are in the area. Not a museum that I would travel to see. It is small but very interesting. It is 2 dollars per person. It is worth for the amount of things you will see. I believe that they will be opening a Titanic section and the entrance will increase to 3 dollars per person. The museum is divided into two seccions. One is a mining exhibition. This area is perfect for a History and Science class to view. The other is exhibition area is suposed to be about Joplin, Missouris history. It really has more of all over the place topics items and topics. There is a bit of everything. Also, the owner is a cat lover. He has an area with news papers written as if one of the cats is narrating. Also, there were a bunch of cat shaped bags (12 to be exact) around the upstairs exhibition area. I found it cute and unique because I like cats. (These were Christmas decorations that were still there). Probably not so cute if you are not a cat lover. The restrooms are at the very end of the two sides of the museum. The museum only has one parking for disability. The thing I do not like about this museum is that it seems like it does not have an elevator. (Unless there was one in a closed area) It is sad because there is a second floor area in the mining exhibition and it would have been in to go upstairs if I was still in wheelchair.

Hate to give a bad review, but we went there to see the Bonnie and Clyde artifacts, only find that there is almost nothing. There are a few jewelry items that supposedly belonged to Bonnie. I say supposedly, because there is a door on display that looks to be the shot-up door to the apartment they were hiding out in. It didnt look right, so we asked the kid at the front desk about it. He said, Oh yeah, thats just some door we put there. It didnt come of their hide-out or anything. I think this is downright unethical. It is obviously put on display to make people think it was from the Joplin shootout. The other items in the museum were more for school kids.

I love this place! Living in Joplin its an awesome and cheap attraction to come learn some local history you might not have known before! The bonnie and clyde exhibit will always be my favorite part. Its a fairly small museum but Joplin used to be a fairly small town. The natural rock exhibit is very cool and interesting. I will always suggest this place to people who like learning new history!

Alright so the contents of this museum are indeed interesting. The reason I gave 3 stars is because half of this museum is stuck in 1947. The minerals and mining exhibit are very interesting and informative though at least half of the minerals on display have no information about them. The info cards are hand written. Is there no sign or print shop locally that could print something for the museum? Its time for the cards to be replaced as they are falling apart. Also its time to dust some ducts, . The other half of the exhibit space about Joplin in general is also interesting. Not beimg from the area I learned a lot about its history. Again there could be some updates to the info cards. And the current D-day exhibit had nearly too much to read but an awesome display of things to show my son that his great grandfathers would have used during the war. So come be a patron (its cheap) buy something in the gift shop and help this little museum get some new info cards.

This was a very fun set of museums to spend some time. You can probably spend an hour and a half here, but it is well worth admission. The location is a hard to find within the park and behind the buildings, the entrance was hard to find also. Each museum in the complex is very small so don’t expect a ton of variety, but they are all unique and interesting.

The staff here is very nice, there is a lot of mining ore, and crystals. There is a room with a mine model thats really awesome. Various old equipment from the mines. There is a circus room complete with a fun mirror that I almost had to drag the kids away from. There is rooms of daily life in different eres and 1800 appliances. Overall its a nice rounded little museum and souvenir shop.

Do not go if you are allergic to cats!! There’s a sign on the door that says “please don’t let the cats out”. Right when you walk in there’s cats at the door. I’m severely allergic and my husband asked if there are other cats and she said, no, just these ones and they usually just leave people alone. He told her his wife was allergic and she said, ya, I get that a lot. Well then don’t have your cats there! They aren’t part of the museum. My family toured and said it was great. As they left, the cat lady was on the phone trying to buy something. It was weird. If you get questions about your cats or many people are allergic then don’t have them there, seriously!
