I only stayed one night as I was passing through only to visit a good friend on a trip from WV to TX. I stayed at the RV campground and had no difficulty backing my 41 class a into the spot. Full hook ups were available and looked to be in good condition with no problems. When I arrived it was already dark. I was pleasantly surprised by the pretty lake just down the hill from where I camped. I walked my dog around the lake, it was a good little jaunt and I had to take a break or to in the shade for my dog (shes a fluffy 8 lbs and it was a long walk for those short legs). There is lots of wildlife. I saw squirrels, geese and other water birds, turtles, dragonflies, butterflies, and frogs (well, i heard the frogs). The trail ranges from full sun to luscious shade and everything in between and the path changes between concrete and gravel. The path closest to the water is for pedestrians only, and there is another path that is a larger outside loop for people on bicycles. There are a couple bridges, a number of pavilions, and a few epic looking playgrounds. I also saw a few pieces of exercise gyms dotted here and there. The park seems super dog friendly with a large fenced in play area that slopes down into the water, as well as another area with a pier designated for dogs that are brave enough to leap in.The only drawbacks that I encountered included the misquotes which Im pretty sure were trying to carry me off somewhere. I didnt realize check out time was at 1 pm and the camp host called me at 5 after to inform me that I needed to leave. Other than that, I had a very pleasant experience and would definitely visit again if I find myself in thd area (preferably not during a pandemic or a class 4 hurricane).

This is an amazing campsite. We have done several campsites in the area and this one has a whopping three different playgrounds for the kids. They are not small by any means. The lake is gorgeous with the dock and fishing just for kids. Free firewood makes the experience even better. They don’t have a sewer hook up but they have fresh water and power and that makes it OK for a weekend stay. It is first come first serve so you’ll have to get there early on Friday or pay for a day ahead of time to get a spot that you want.

I walk here routinely with my husband, son, & 3 dogs. There are tons of options for walking, with paths through the woods connecting with the Forrest L. Wood nature center, the outer path around the park with exercise equipment, and the path that rings the lake itself. All these paths are well-maintained & reasonably free from litter (we pick up what we find, too). Weve also camped here, both in a 30 foot Class C and a 33 foot Class A. 50 & 30 amp electric & water. No sewer available, but there is a dump station and you can release your gray water on the ground. The inner lake path is easily accessible from the RV campground. The campground hosts are very kind & friendly. This park has 3 amazing playgrounds, 2 of which are among the best Ive ever visited and one of which is wheelchair accessible, so kids will be super happy with that.

Its ok,its big, clean (even the bathrooms surprisingly) and looks beautiful....and if you go for a walk with your dog or you want to do some jogging in the morning its a perfect place to go.But still cant get my head around that this is the only Lake in Jonesboro....and you CANT swim in it...you can look at it...you can fish and even let your dogs splash in it...just dont swim in it.While it might be ok for people who grew up around there, but for me its just odd.You will have to drive 30 mins to lake Charles to be able to swim.

Beautiful public park that opened in 1937. It has a new 5K paved trail for walking/running and biking with workout stations located all along the trail. The park also has something for everyone to enjoy from fishing, disc golf, camping, hiking, bike trails, dog water area, several playgrounds, picinic areas, and much more.

The scenery, even in the depths of winter, is beautiful and pleasant. The trails and walking paths around the lake are nicely groomed and make for an excellent way to spend the afternoon. I also appreciate the fun, new exercise equipment in certain areas along the outer loop. They are a really cool addition for fitness people or goofballs looking to be silly and yet still exercise. And hey speaking of silly, as a 30 year old man who enjoys acting like a child, the play areas are some of the most imaginative and well-crafted that Ive seen. I thoroughly enjoyed goofing around of them as an adult and I imagine I would certainly love them as a kid.

It is such a beautiful place. Its so nice to be able to get out, & into nature. Either alone, OR with family. There is so much to do out here too. Feed the ducks, camp, Walk, bike, skate at the skate park, jog, exercise on the exercise equipment, take the kids to play, (AT MULITPLE play areas) hang a hammock up & kick back & read a book while swinging.... grill out with family, have a picnic with a friend, fish, take you dog for a walk, or take them to the dock, & teach them to retrieve items from water. The possibilities are endless. And who wouldnt want to do all of that, while enjoying the beautiful lake, & gorgeous outdoor scenery. It stays very well maintained, clean, & picked up. Free of trash & debris. I have spent many of happy times with friends & family. I am greatful to be able to have such a wonderful park to enjoy and it doesnt cost a thing.

I would give it a five if they had an ice machine and if they had BBQ grills for all of the sites. The camp sites have wide paved spots for tents or rv that allow for a rv and two vehicles. There is lots of shade, clean restrooms, showers and a laundrymat for campers, the people here are friendly, and the cost is comparible.

I am here for several days with a family member in the hospital and needed some fresh air. Coming from a rural town in South Georgia, this place is SO beautiful and awesome. I did both the inner trail around the lake (gorgeous!) and the paved outer trail (so incredibly maintained!) There were a lot of people out and it seemed to be a safe area. The lake was pretty too. I was also touched by the Mothers of Angels memorial garden and stopped there to think and pray. This is a really nice place for walking, running, biking and rollerblading. There are restrooms throughout the trails and water fountains that also have a place to refill a water bottle. Really well maintained. If I lived here it would be a staple in my life!

I really like this park, it has nice views, a big beautiful lake, cute animals such as squirrels, ducks, and geese. It has about a 3.4 mile track for people to walk for exercise, separate from the main road were cars can drive through. It you walk the track on down it has a small basketball court off to the distance near the wooded area. The only thing I hate about this park, is that they allow people to RV camp in one of the areas between access 4 or 5. I hate that, because when I came up on it, I thought it was a little village. And I did not want to run up on some white person with a gun trying to attack me. Also, it has exercise equipment outside as well and plenty of restrooms to use at each access, there are about 5 accesses were people can gather at.
