We would recommend this spot to any vacationer or working man. The rules really keep things running smoothly. The features (pool, lake, volleyball, etc.) werent available because of covid but I am sure on a good day you could keep busy all day. The resort is close to the town of Shorewood also a nice place to visit. We spent almost 5 months here and it felt like home. I found Mike very helpful and he invited us back anytime.

This RV park was average and would have rated a 3 star except for my bad experience with personnel. After staying a few days we were packing up things on the patio outside the RV when an employee came by with a ride- on mower cutting grass. He passed by blowing cuttings onto the patio, picnic table, RV and me. I approached him and politely told him we would be leaving in ten minutes. He said,Ill finish up here, and then continued cutting right beside the fire pit with the mower blade flinging sand and dust all over our things. I was waving my arms to disperse the dirt in my face and he paused to say You could see I was cutting the grass, you could have gone inside. Inconsideration of others and ignorance is no excuse for poor performance. I stopped by the office to check out, turn in my gate pass and lodge a complaint. As I approached the door a gentleman drove up on a golf cart. He asked,How can I help you? I could clearly tell by hostile tone of voice and body language that he was not pleased about something. Are you the office manager? I asked. He responded How can I help you? Perhaps he did not hear me. Are you the office manager?, one more time. Once again he ducked the question, How can I help you? As he was not going to identify himself I reluctantly told him of my experience, not wanting to have to repeat the story two or three times to two or three employees before talking to the person in charge. To his credit, he said that he would speak to the kid about his behavior. That kid was an adult although appeared to be rather juvenile with his baseball cap on backwards and vaping/smoking as he rode his mower. I can guess that neither of these employees were owners of the property because no small business owner that I have ever met would treat even non-member customers with such disdain and lack of courtesy. I will never go back and I cannot recommend this place to anyone based on my negative experience with the staff there.

We find it hard to call this campground a resort. Campground did not have our reservation when we arrived, which is why we like giving a deposit or getting an email confirmation. However, the staff was friendly and did provide us a campsite. This style of bookkeeping concerns us, as if it was a holiday week we wouldn’t have been provided a campsite. The campground is very close to 2 major freeways, which procedure a lot noise inside the park. Many campers were long term, and these RV’s appeared rough and presented a negative look on the park. Arrived at our site which needed much cleaning. The fire pit AND the site were full of trash (including a dirty diaper). Campsites are close together. Many of the buildings need much TLC, including the bathrooms. DirecTV (free standing satellite) had no issue getting a signal. Verizon phone was able to get 4g. Wifi was weak and not reliable. Campground is one hour from Chicago. Grocery stores and dining are about 15mins from campground. Campground includes mini golf course, lake, pool, clubhouse and beach lake. Roads were wide and provide easy access into your site. Many sites include full trees, so if you have a roof top satellite, inform the office during checkup or when making reservations.

This is a beautiful park! Even without all of the amenities due to Covid regulations it is still a great place to stay! The spaces are a really nice size with plenty of room and the security of the keycard gate is one of the best things about the park :) If you are looking for a family friendly, safe, clean park this is it!

Not a crooked toilet or lavratory, tile was level, excellent quality work! Very impressed by the cleanliness of this place no trash or even cigarette butts on the ground...! I called this morning and the phone was answered by a someone that rudely told me to call back after they opened at 3PM (website stated they opened at 11:00). They did state I could send an e-mail also so I did, that received no response. So I called back around 3:45 and was told (rudely once again) no, we aren’t taking anyone for just a night or two.Pretty disappointed in the rudeness, as well as the policy. Oh well, I’ll take my money elsewhere.

I camped here as a boy scout 2 decades ago, and it was nothing special. Now a days all I go to Leisure Lakes for is to vote. This year it was atrocious. They havent done anything about repairing the gravel parking lot. They have 2 giant piles of gravel sitting in the parking lot and a employee fixing the main road a block further into the campgrounds. They have know all year when voting was and never took the time to fill in all the potholes and make it a leveled surface. Very disappointing!

Ive been trying to make a reservation for two years at this site and the man answering the phone always says hes booked up until after Labor Day weekend. I decide to call today 09/03/19 to place reservations for the forth coming weekend and I was abruptly and immediately told there was nothing available in a very rude and dismissive tone. I asked when was his first availability and he stated he was cutting grass and not in the office and for me to call back after 3 today and I suggested perhaps calling back in the morning he declined that as he reiterated the necessity to call after three (3) today because he was busy. It was a no-brainer there is never availability due to racism, which was the reason for my intentional persistence. I enjoy surrounding myself with like-minded intellectual professionals. Racism is another word for fear, lack, insufficiency, ignorance, and illiteracy. Know YOUR history!?

Called for reservations on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm when we were approximately 2 hours away. The man that answered the phone made it clear that if we did not show up by 5:00 we could not get in park. My wife tried to ask him other questions and was overwhelmed by his rudeness. After a little conversation he ended by hanging up on her. Fortunately we arrived on time to check in around 4:30, although it was somewhat dusk when we arrived in park I followed the sign (Big Arrow) to Leisure Lake Office in my RV with car in tow. I soon realized that the parking lot I pulled in was not a pull though lot. As I checked in I stated, man we have problems, this is when the man behind counter got argumentative with me and said it wasnt his fault that I pulled into a non-pull through lot. I stated, the sign pointed this direction, thus the reason for pulling in. He said most people park their RV on the street and walk the 100 yards to the office. I doubt this seriously. Most RV park offices are not situated like this so visitors get pinned in. Was a nice setting and a place to spend a quick night,, but I will never be back to this place. I agree with many of the other reviews on this site that the rude gentleman needs to work on his people and anger management skills.

I loved the many activities there. From fishing to paddle boating all the way to the free beach and miniature golfing. Id also love to mention how beautiful and clean the facilities are. My only issue was the racism there. The majority race there is Caucasian to about 1% African American. My children and I were called names and was treated blatantly rude by several of the other members there. Although there were many who took kindly to our race and greeted us warmly and friendly. Id definitely recommend this place to others, just stay to yourself and dont speak unless spoken to because its hard to decipher between the friendly and the not so friendly

To the contrary they have been very accommodating to me and my family. I have stayed at many parks and resorts but this is our home. I have been a member here since 07 and my parents much longer. Home away from home! Sad to see the 2015 season come to an end. If you are looking for a CAMPGROUND and a Safe and Fun place to enjoy being outside this is a place you will love. From the scenic fishing lake, to the pool and beach there is plenty to do here to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. From Paddleboats, Fishing, Mini golf, Horseshoes and bags tournaments to Campfires with friends and family. Several comments on here had to make me laugh.... if you are looking for luxury may I suggest the local Holiday inn? If you are truly looking for Outdoor leisure activities then you are at the right place. Why would someone want to sit inside and watch TV when they could be watching a gorgeous sunset over the lake. This place is made for the people who are looking to get the kids off Video games and TV and get back to the basics of enjoying the outdoors. You could kind of tell he was itching for me to say or do the wrong thing so he could get angry. Anyway, the stay was great so I went back to ask for membership information. The guy was completely rude this time, making a sarcastic comment because I parked in the wrong area, asking if I would be able to read the brochure since I couldnt read the golf cart parking sing. I was only trying to not block the driveway and didnt see the small sign. I can take critism but he had no tact, a simple you cant park there and I would have moved my truck. This RV park is very noisy. Trucks and trucks all day and all night. Lawn mowing starts at 8 am outside our window.Lake is very nice and fishing is plentful with a permit. The truck noise is very bad. Once you pay, there are no refunds, so we have to stay over 3 weeks with all this noise.A lot of old trailers just parked here with lots of stuff all over and under their trailers, which is not attractive, despite the rules of the park.Sites are very unlevel. Roads dirt and mud. Some sites are broken cement pads.TV is mostly local channels, except CBS and it cuts out frequently.Beautiful trees throughout, pool, swim pond, mini golf, event room, laundry, pedal boats, basketball courts...so there is a lot to do for young and old.**I have read other reviews about the man that is owner/manager and I will not call him names. All I will say about him is he needs to be in the back office counting his money. He does not have customer service skills and made us feel very unwelcome. I wrote the first part of my review before my husband, a 100% disabled vet, had an encounter with Mike. You see we bought a fishing pass for my husband who loves to fish. No rules were told to us other than no night fishing. Ok, we obey rules. My husband catches a bass at this stocked lake. (My husband also had neighboring children following him to our RV. He couldnt fish without all the kids asking him questions about fishing). My husband walks over to our rv for me to take a picture of his fish with all the kids around him and then he throws it back in. He actually caught a lot of fish while we were there, but ALWAYS, threw them back in. At one point Mike drives by and starts yelling at my husband because he was showing me his fish in front of all the kids! My husband didnt know who he was, so I popped my head out of the rv to see who he was talking to. I didnt know who he was either. My husband asked why it was this mans business and Mike said You are out of here! Pack up and leave! My husband said we arent going anywhere! Then Mike said, We will see about this, I am calling the police! I tried to calm both down and Mike wouldnt listen. Mike said he was calling the police to make us leave. Now mind you...there are no fishing rules posted at the lake or for that matter on their brochure. We were outraged that Mike had been so agressive with us and I was scared. We are both senior citizens. This happened on day 3, I think, and we had already paid $615 for nearly 3 weeks, which they clearly stated no refunds. My husband ended up going to the office to find out what was going on and ended up breaking down in the office discussing his disability. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR to cause a disabled senior citizen this kind of stress! All Mike had to do was introduce himself as the owner/ manager and say we do not allow taking of the bass. Simple. Done. Or...post signs around the lake. We ended up staying and no police were called, but I worried that something else might happen to set this man off and quite frankly I was nervous every time we left our site. I am sorry I must change my review to a 1! It is very sad as with some tweaks this place could be top rated. Maybe they could even contact the IL Transportation Dept to have a No Jake Breaks sign on highway above. The truck noise is really loud! Maybe they could bring in rock or slag for their sites and roads....And maybe, Mike will retire....

My dad is a US Army Retired and 100% disabled Veteran who brought his RV to Leisure Lake to fish and relax. My dad paid $15.00 for the fishing pass. He caught a small mouth bass and walked 50 ft to his RV to get a picture from his wife with the fish. Immediately, the site owner (of Leisure Lake Resort) in a golf cart drove up and started to harass my dad about taking the fish out of the pond. The owner became aggressive and told my dad he was going to call the police on him. My dad told him to go ahead and call the police; he did nothing wrong. There are no signs posted. There is nothing written regarding any rules about fishing. We even have their brochure and again, nothing in writing about fishing policies. The owner is a bully and tried to bully a 100% Disabled Veteran who was excited to catch a fish. How sad is that? You pay to fish and now must be a mind-reader to their rules. All the owner had to say is, our rules are to place fish back into pond after catching. Instead, he was just a big old jerk with no business dealing with people; especially 100% disabled vets!

I have an absolutely wonderful time everytime I come here! The scenery is great, especially at dusk. All of the amenities are fantastic. The new shower houses are great along with the mini-golf, remodeled pool and the beach. The staff is very friendly, and theyre always out working hard to keep everything up to standard and clean as possible. Following the rules is something that you obviously should do at any place, especially somewhere where you pay for a membership. It has the word membership in the name for a reason. This isnt somewhere that anyone can just come in, and rightly so thats how it should be. Ensuring the safety of those staying in the park isnt something that a lot of campgrounds care to do. I am so glad that there are rules to make sure everyone is safe, and able to leisurely enjoy themselves without any worries. There are people here who become members and pay the prices that they do, because its a place that is well kept up. The prices are set the way they are for certain reasons. We dont care for riff-raff, as well as people who are rude. Families come here to enjoy themselves, as well as those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives anywhere from a day to a few months. We love FRIENDLY people, and those who want to enjoy themselves, like us!Those who give this place a bad review due to personal reasons with certain staff members and rude service dont know how to let things go. If something doesnt go how YOU want, dont over exaggerate things. When people dont sound happy all the time, it doesnt mean they arent. Dont misconstrue. Most of the bad reviews on here are most likely from the Good Sam members that come twice or a few times every month, that dont know how to oblige with and respect the rules that are in place to make Leisure Lake thrive in being not only a safe, but also sanitary and enjoyable environment. This 300 lb man that everyone speaks badly of, happens to be anything but 300 lbs. He knows how to enforce the rules, and as long as you arent acting out of pure stupidity to go against them, hes a great individual.Thank you to all the Leisure Lake staff for all that you do. He says There’s a big pipeline job starting and I will have spots filled and don’t need my busy! He didn’t know that I’m a pipe liner myself. Hope he runs into the wrong guy soon and mouth off to him!HELP BOYCOTT THIS CAMPGROUND

Never got a chance, could not find the place. I guess the 12 x 12 road signs are to small for me. Anyway whoever answers their phone was most arrogant person I ever spoke to. Just because of his lousy attitude I will never stay at this place or never recommend to anyone. Good job Buddy!!

Friendly staff, found the man a lot of reviews complained about to be very accommodating, friendly and courteous. Big rig friendly. I only wish the main road around the camp was asphalt, as there is SO MUCH DUST created by vehicles driving by.

I called to make a reservation. The man was very short with me, abrupt and exceptionally rude. Ive camped at many places across the US and this was the most rude person I have encountered. He lost my business. I will not be recommending this place to anyone

Read the rules and you wont have any problems. DO NOT try to get away with something that is against the rules or you will be dealt with accordingly. Stayed here for a week with my good sam membership. This is a great park with stuff for the family to do and very clean. During the week i was there they had Christmas in July and a traveling magician they also have a nice gameroom with pool tables and other stuff. Will stay here when ever im in the area.

Leisure Lake is a wonderful resort. It is ran by people who are serious about keeping the park safe, clean, and free of Rif-Raf. the response of were not open to the public im sure is meant in the nicest way possible. Keep in mind the man that answers the phones does EVERYTHING day and night 24/7 365 in addition to answering the SAME questions all the time as well. He may have had a bad day and didnt respond very nicely but he has the best of intentions

Called them up looking for a price quote to be a member. The man who answered the phone was very short and mumbled some outrageous price even though it said on the Web Site to call about options. I hope this place goes out of business and that guy loses his job.
