Literally the only way on and off the island from New Jersey. Honestly Statue Cruises from the NJ side always does an amazing job. Smooth ride every time. Quick and scenic too. Boats come every 30 minutes I think, so there is no way you wont make a ship. They are sometimes really really packed but it depends when you are going or if there is some school or tourist group on your boat. The boats have multiple decks and are usually pretty clean. Some have a little snack bar on the ship too.

Statue of liberty has been something that we see in movies and in pictures all the time, it is that icon that represents the United States of America, and specifically New York.. so thanks to the Statue Cruise, i had the chance of finally seeing this famous monument in real life in front of me! And i should mention that the trip was so organized (except for the part where we had to wait in queues for hours..) but i was so disappointed by the statue itself, because i spent my life thinking it is huge and big, only to find out it is smaller than my expectations. But overall i loved it!

This was an inexpensive yet lovely tour. The ticket at only $19 includes the ferry, the museum tour, but not the actual statue tour (we waited too late to get tickets for that added tour). The museum is fantastic and has a cool “interactive photo kiosk” where you take your pic and then they load eventually to this HUGE wall with all the others and then move slowly to create the outline of the statue with all these millions of photos. It also shows the number of international travelers on the screen since opening. The ferry leaves the Statue every 20+ minutes and goes to Ellis Island. If you don’t/can’t do Ellis Island as well, you simply stay on and it goes on to return to the shore. We had 12:00 tickets but got there, went through security (like an airport) early, stood in line and got on. The ferry gave FABULOUS views of the NYC skyline – especially from the top level. There is food and drink on the ferry and both the Statue and Ellis Island had a cafeteria! We were there on a 36-degree WINDY day, we bundled up and braved it from the top.NOTE: There are ticket tour scammers that line the perimeter of Battery Park – AVOID! They have jackets/shirts that look like they work for the ferry/tour company and ask if you have tickets. If you say no, they try to sell you “a ticket for less than the ticket office” – THEY ARE NOT THE OFFICIAL TOUR! It is for a different boat/tour that is not affiliated with the National Park Service. Always buy your tickets on-line at the right place or at the ticket booth. Also, if you want to go in/up the actual statue, you have to get the tickets way in advance to get that (we decided to go at the last minute – so a ferry ticket was all we could get – but it was still fabulous!!) Highly recommend.

A bunch of us took their cruise from Liberty Park in NJ to the Statue of Liberty. Would have given a 3.5 star just for their service (elaborated in the negatives section).Positives: Overall experience was very good. We could take the return cruise to Battery Park, NY even though we had booked online round-trip tickets from NJ! They did a nice round of the Statue and we could get great shots!Negatives: We had booked the cruise online for 1PM. The ticket mentioned that we were supposed to check-in half hour early. We were running late since we had to commute from NYC and were caught up in traffic. We called them twice to ask if we could take a later cruise. Their response the first time “No, we do not have a later cruise; 1PM is the last one!” Second time: “oh if you come before 1.15, go directly to the departure line; if not come to the ticket counter and we will accommodate you in a later time slot”! Well... we had a tense half hour cab ride, to say the least! Conclusion: They do have cruises running every 30-35mins so don’t lose your head if you’re running late! Last ferry from Statue to NY/NJ is at 5.45 so be mindful of that deadline!!

The only official way to get to Liberty and Ellis Islands is a well-run operation, with a fleet of clean, punctual boats that deliver a great view of three boroughs and the Jersey shoreline along the way. Dont be fooled by the scammers roving Battery Park--buy online ahead of time (the only real option if you want to visit Lady Libertys pedestal/crown) or directly from a Statue Cruises ticket window. Even longtime New Yorker Alec Baldwin--who should certainly know better--has been scammed by these touts. Finally, if you need a snack along the very short journey, the concession bars on the boats are surprisingly very reasonably priced.

Pretty direct and straight. The place is a lot less busy then New York, I noticed, once I got off in New York. Anyway, the cruises they offer are great, the boats well maintained, dependent on which one you get. They do offer food/drinks on the boat, which is nice. They usually have enough seating, if you board here. But since there are less people, you will get a great view of the two landmarks.

The wait to get on the ferry seemed to be taking forever. We finally got to the front of the security check and that is where they have posted that pocket knives or pepper spray or any self defense items are allowed. We had to walk all the way back to our car to put it back and ended up missing a ferry just because of that. It would have been easier if they mentioned it while buying the tickets or put that on the tickets

Statue cruises start from liberty state national park( New Jersey) and Battery Park (new york). Most important though the inline website tickets are not present. Go to the liberty national park counter and you would get tickets to the grounds for sure, if not for the pedestal. Crown tickets are generally booked 4 months to 1 year ahead. Some aspects to have in mind:1) On a dull day you might get free public parking right next to ticket counter. There are around 20 spots. It helps folks with kids to get to ferry faster.2) Please carry an umbrella, if you are planning to go an rainy day or a sunny day. you will be stuck with no cover while you are waiting for the ferry as they will ask you to get out of the security building due to crowd and the wait might last from 5 mins - 40 mins.3) Ponchos are sold adult size on the ferry for 5 $ a piece.4) Check on the timings of the cruises, the last one to statye of liberty will be around 5:00 PM and all of them later are only return trips.5) If it is raining and you have no cover get to the meseum and wait it out if you have time. New york city in fog, clouds is amazing.Hope this helps to plan your day better.

Excellent Experience, I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in visiting New York. Being from Virginia, and planning a very last minute trip for our family of five was made very easy from the website. The website was very easy to navigate, and especially informative. The ferries that were running from island to island were on time and not crowded. It was raining at the start of our day, and we had come with umbrellas, but I did notice that the ferry was stocked with ponchos at the incredibly convenient concession on board for those who were in need. Thank you for helping to make seeing the Statue of Liberty an unforgettable experience for our kids!

A very nice historic experience BUT they dont notify you well enough and there isnt enough signage to direct you to the pedestal which really is frustrating when you reserve something in advance. So they drop you off to see the immigration museum first which I think they should save for last because you can use a lot of your time there and miss the pedestal like we did. And unfortunately we could only spend a part of the day there. It was my first time in the east coast so I was disappointed. The trip lost a little magic there.

We arrived at the ferry terminal and found no guidance or signs telling us where to go, so we asked the NPS employee behind the counter who said oh, the weather is bad so there are no ferries today, as if we were the first people to ask and we should have already known. We then checked the Statue cruises web site and facebook page and saw no mention of cancelled ferries. Our printed tickets didnt say anything about calling ahead to make sure ferries were running. We booked tickets online so Statue Cruises had my email address and should have been able to send an email. We were quickly refunded the ticket price, but we wasted hours of our time and money on transit to and from the terminal.I understand that they cant control the weather and sometimes have to cancel, but they should have at least made an effort to communicate with us and offer an apology. They didnt even make the minimal effort to put up a sign at the ferry terminal! A couple days later we received a post cruise survey from Statue Cruises. I left comments and checked the please contact me box, but never heard a word from them.

Two parts to this review...The actual boat ride and islands were great, plenty of room on the boat to move around, not a huge amount of seats but sufficient. The islands were accessed easily and moving from Liberty to Ellis and back to New York was easy with plenty of options time wise. Signage on the islands was good. The down side to this experience was definately the lining up and security process, we arrived at Battery Park - it was chaotic with little signage as to where to go. I dont know whether it is always this busy but there were lines everywhere. We had difficulty finding someone to ask where to line up, once we did we joined a line that was easily 500metres long (for a reserved time ticket at 12pm). The alternate (flexi time) line was easily 1.5km long - no exaggeration). These two lines were very slow moving and eventually come together after 1 hours + wait to a unorganized bottle neck where that is full of frustrated/cold/angry people pushing for their place in a line to be able to enter the security screening room. This line has very few staff around providing any sort of order or assistance. The day we visited it was -15.C and all the lines are outside with no shelter. After being pushed through security screening where staff are clearly over stressed, we were able to get onto a boat immediately and the rest of the experience is great and enjoyable. Our wait was in excess of 1.5hours to get through security and we had purchased a reserved time, the wait for the flexi ticket holders must have been well over 2.5 hours so i would recommend buying the reserved.

They do have a monopoly on getting you to/from the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island- but instead of abusing that fact, they seem to have really optimized their service to be as efficient and functional as possible. They are able to move large herds of people quickly, on-time, and without incident - and thats impressive. We were at the SOL over Memorial Day weekend - it was packed as you might expect, but the boats moved in and out right on time, exactly as they should. The whole SOL/Ellis Island tour is $30 or so from the Jersey side, and its one of the best values in the NY Metro area. Furthermore - we were running late, and in danger of missing our boarding time - the very nice parking guy gave us shortcut directions to a parking space that was very near the docks. Thats good customer service! So if youre thinking about doing the SOL tour -GO FOR IT.
