Been here maybe 50 times in my life. Last night will be my last. Used to love it. The staff thinks they are Gods little gift to man now. Ill gladly spend my money elsewhere. Mamba out!

While visiting my mom from NYC, we came to the beach for a drink, while this place was empty when we arrived it filled right up and quickly!The drinks are amazing and if you want something special they will do it. Gin and Egg white “something” was my request and I had two beautiful drinks.I mean look at the pictures....

Had so much fun.. it was halloween. The staff was great the drinks were great. The DJ is very cool yall need to keep him..

Go and get the steak or beef tacos with hot sauce and jalepinos on the side and an old fashioned for your drink. You will not be disappointed!

Busy bar. bartenders were very attentive

Management decided staff doesnt need to wear a mask anymore. Thats what our waitress told us, considering none were masked i believe her. Last taco Tuesday all wore masks. I dont know what happened, this local wont be going to any of this companies restaurants or bars. We left for Vs pizza and Flask and Cannon, all staff still masked there. Shim sham and hoptingers should care more about their community.

Taco Tuesday $2 tacos with choice of chicken, steak, or beef. They were hot, tasty and def worth coming out for. A good local under the radar bar.

I waited 2 hours in line and when I reached the front of the line, the bouncer told our group about the dress-code. We were all dress up accordingly, but the bouncer did not let one of our people in because he was wearing an all white shirt and he said that it is Gang related. Meanwhile he let a bunch of girls in and some were wearing all white as well. The bouncer saw us in line a couple of times prior to this and did not say anything to us. We asked him questions regarding the wait and if there were any rules before entering the line and after being in line for the hour of waiting mark, he didnt said anything about the dress-code then. As soon as he checked his IDs he then mention it. Other places around this establishment let us in with no problem.

Waited 2 hours in a line with my brother and his friends for his birthday only to get kicked out by a bouncer for wearing a white t shirt. Nowhere on their website does it mention dress code. The bouncer was extremely rude and inconsiderate, allowing certain individuals to cut the line - making it obvious.This happened on 6/13/2020 and after reading the reviews I understand this was not a first time occurrence.This bar is not nice enough to even entertain the idea of a dress code.IF YOURE ON VACATION DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

This place is great Ive been coming here for years. Recently my favorite item the B.A.T. was removed from the menu so havent been as often. Regardless great food and neat bar. Make sure to get a pick with the Grizzley bear.

We have all been there, hungry at 1am thinking about hitting up the drive through or huddle house, but once you have had a slider from Shim Sham you will never go back to that big mac again. They are amazing and definitely worth the wait if its a busy night.

The drinks and service are fine, but overall the place is pricey and overcrowded. The crowd is younger, but the music does not reflect this. Not a good place space-wise to dance, but too loud to relax in.

Typical bar/club scene. People dancing, having a good time, spilling drinks everywhere. Took a LONG time to get a drink upstairs.

Truly astonished at the lack of customer service for their patrons. Rude, abrasive and flippant bartender which, must have learned the behavior from the GM who was equally appalling when it was brought to his attention. The guy talked down to me made excuses for his bartenders behavior and then insulted me. My group of 7 promptly left and will not return. Likewise, my friend had a private party there and spent a fortune. Told me her dealing with him was similar. Talks down to women. None of us will be back to this establishment.Name is fitting because the service level is a Sham!

I like this place, usually lots of fun. Tonight I was ignored at the bar while it was dead. I went upstairs to support the Glass Bottle Society, which is an awesome store there for the art walk. After that I left. Not every experience one has anywhere is a winner all the time. Tonight was a dud but usually a really fun place

Only reason I have this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bartender didnt get a simple old fashioned right.. she practically made me a whiskey water.. otherwise, great place to hangout.. the live band was amazing, good time overall

This place is great if your in the mood to relax with a craft cocktail in your hand. Right off Jaxs Beach the atmosphere was causal and fun as we sat at the outside bar. Our bartender was able to recommend cocktails that matched our tastes perfectly. I didnt get to try the food but they do have a bar menu.

Been here a few times. Youll have some good memories in this club (trust me). This is the new Mavericks.

This dive bar has my heart. Dimly lit with comfy seating. Music always going in the background and a laid-back, diverse clientele. They have a small food menu that is the epitome of bar food. The Buffalo Chicken Sliders are legit. Dont show up to this place in a suit or you will feel like Rudolph in a snowstorm.

Great energy on the dance floor on the second floor.... Too many completely trashed girls that should clearly been cut off a few drinks ago. Security is pretty good at throwing them out though. Still way too many broken glasses for my preference. But the girls make for fun people watching

When I get to the front of the line, I’m told about the “dress code”. I’m told to talk to this other bouncer. Other bouncer says “give me 20, and you can come in.” I complain to management. Management says “this is what we do for a living.”

My friend and i were told the food here was awesome so we figured we would give it a try... Sarah the bartender continued talking to other bar guests and told us she would be with us and never did so another gentleman took our order took at least 10 mins to make our drink then we ordered food that we never got bc there was only one cook in the kitchen! I wouldn’t spend another dime in here our drink wasn’t even that good!

The food is good. The service is not good. You have to yell over to a bartender for a while to get any drinks. One of the three in our group had a drink spilled on him. They did comp the drink, so that was nice. The time to get a drink on a weekday night was incredibly excessive.

Absolutely terrible experience. My boyfriend and I are new to the state, weve just moved from New Jersey to Florida and we were rudely turned away from entry on a Friday evening because he was wearing a v-neck short sleeved shirt from Banana Republic. The worst part is that we had a bunch of friends with us that were visiting and we all had to leave. I will absolutely not be returning ever and will be referring everyone I know away from this establishment. Extremely disappointed.

Always have a lot of fun at this place. Didnt know they had taco Tuesdays but they are so good. Highly recommend

This place has such horrible customer service. I don’t think anyone should go there if they expect actually nice human beings. The service is horrible and the people are mean. The prices are high and I would avoid it if you can. It also is dirty overall. Try to stay away. The people are so mean.

It’s almost impossible to get a drink here on the weekend. The bartenders tend to get overwhelmed and leave you standing there until you simply walk out; which I’ve done on more than one occasion. I am giving it 3 stars because I have been here on a weekday and they have the best tacos but that’s about it.

Stopped in and had some drinks after going out to ea. Not overly crowded, staff was very nice and accommodating. I would return, its a beach bar so we got standard drinks and beer on tap.

I have had two hip replacements. The elevator wasnt easily accessible to the second floor where was the meeting.

So my bday was sat. I went to the beach bars. Literally this bar was my only fav. It was some great music and alot of dancing which I LOVED. I will be back prob next weekend lol

Highly Disappointed in the bar tending staff, towards the beginning of June me and a couple friends went in for a drink around 5pm. Table next to us were all active members of the military, one of the guys dropped his wallet. Bartender who had approached us about the wallet denied ever finding the wallet (blatant lie) I wrote management about the incident. I exchanged information with the guy, since he had to file a police report on the missing military ID, he told me the management did not acknowledge the incident or the email I had sent. Clear theft has taken place by the staff, management did not take any steps to address the issue.

Bad layout and too small square footage inside, way to crowded on Friday and Saturday nights cant walk anywhere once inside. Not worth it and better options out there.

I went to shim shams on a Wednesday night. It was decently busy, but not crazy. We ordered food and ended up waiting for well over an hour. The manager never checked on us, but when I went to find him he was very unsympathetic. He said Sorry we are busy and I dont think that you have been waiting that long. The food was okay, the bartenders were good, the buss boy was great, but the manager (with the neck tattoo) was absolutely terrible!!

Cool atmosphere but it took forever to get a drink. Not much dance space upstairs and the drinks are SUPER expensive. The choice of DJs could be better.

Great place tully ginger in a tall for 4 bucks. Nightly food specials like taco Tuesdays for 2 bucks a taco. We love it!

This place is next to the beach but wouldn’t let us in for wearing tank tops. Active duty Marines and denied entry for wearing tank tops. No respect for military personnel and a complete hypocrisy because multiple women in the bar were wearing tank tops, double standard. Will never return and I encourage all military personnel not give this disgrace your money.

Two-story, smoke-free bar. Like every bar in Jax beach, its very loud inside, but the patio isnt so if you want to have a conversation. Drinks are not expensive. Gets very crowded on the weekends. Service is pretty good.

This is a very fun bar. It was alwys fun even before it became shim shams. Great live music that will have you dancing and singing.. great drinks too. Local and college crowds. Great bar hopping location.

This is my favorite bar in the Jacksonville area. The ambiance, staff and sophisticated beverages are well worth the drive out to the beach. Their speciality is their cedar plank smoked drinks ( I recommend the Old Fashioned ). Though, $9 a drink, its well worth the sensation to your palette.

That bat sandwich is just as good as it was 5 years ago when I first had it!

Its usually a hit or a miss with this club but they usually got the groove on. Occasionally get to see some freestyle dancing but the dance floor is relatively small and the speakers could be significantly louder imo.

We went for some drinks & quick bite. The sliders & tots were good, and our bartender was awesome (Britain I believe).

This is a COMPLETELY RACIST site, I ordered a beer, and surprisingly I was removed from the place in an intimidating way without any explanation, I told them to let me close my account and they told me that they took care of it, being taken out they brought me the beer bill out on the street, which never gets to drink it. These took me for my Hispanic features, but I am a citizen of the United States. this happened on a Sunday at 9pm.

Be aware this club closes at 130! I was there Friday night and they announced last call around 125. I ordered a drink and at 130 the lights came on and they started ushering people out.

Pretty cool spot. They take time in their cocktails. I was only drinking some basic drinks, but watched the work they out into other customers drinks. Space downstairs and up.. cool spot all in all

The food was excellent! And so were our drinks. I ordered directly from their drink menu. Everything was great. However, the older of the bartenders was very rude. My boyfriend asked if they had a particular bottled beer and instead of just saying yes, he grabbed a menu (which we didnt have yet), flipped to the page and threw it at us. It was on there, so he said hell take one. He sat it down so hard that the beer spilled. The place wasnt that busy. The younger bartender made my drinks and was very pleasant and did a great job! However, it was obvious the older one was in charge.

By FAR the best bar food in Jax Beach. As a matter of fact, it has the best bar food period! On top of that, it has a chill vintage vibe and great staff (ask for Sam, hes the best!). Also, if its your first time at Shim Sham, get a Jeffrey shot. Trust me, its worth it!

Nice crowd, good music and great service.

The bar is small with an upper room usually reserved for private parties. The drinks are moderately inexpensive boating a wide variety you would expect a bar to have. The part that intrigued me was the food menu which runs specials. The quesadilla with Mac and cheese and buffalo chicken is fantastic, if not artery clogging. It goes on special on Wednesdays for $6 rather than $9.

My first visit! Shim Sham: a two-story corner nightclub kind of dark and cozy, with lots of security staff, and has a unique first floor garden like patio-bar separated from noise, by glass door, and walls! Tiney dance gloir upstairs! 30 years ago, this was a punk place, that used to be called Einstein! Now, one the few clubs, where you see attractive, men and girls were kissing romantically at the bar! Great lights and colors, for taking photos, perhaps!

Great spot for the weekends. 21+ only is great because of the lack of kids running around and asking for drinks. Plus great food during the day.

Best Bar Staff in Jacksonville. This place is always busy on weekend nights, but it is also a quiet place to drop in for a nice happy hour. The staff is friendly and very talented and the management if extremely helpful when organizing a party. The food and the drinks are quite tasty, and they have excellent drink specials.

Great food and drink specials throughout the week. The bouncer was noticeably kind. My bartender refilled our waters 5 different times AFTER we cashed out and already tipped her to finish watching the game on tv. Most would stop serving after they got their tip..
