I visited here only a few times, the first time was with my husband in 2018,then again for a second time a few months ago Mr.Shaw had told me to try an item called SHEPHERDS PIE told me he loved it, scooped it for me asked me to let him know what I thought... I loved it... And he was just such a Sweet Friendly man. I hated to hear of his passing. ️ I visited again a week ago had no idea he was sick I looked around to see if I saw him cause I had told my friend about him. This place by far is one of my favorites.
I would prefer healthier alternatives, instead of everything being fried. The STRAWBERRY BUTTER is mouth-watering! It is delicious!!! Banana pudding is tasty. The turnip & collared greens need a bit more flavoring. They were bitter to the taste. They have a family style menu, where the customer chooses 3 meats, 4 veggies & a drink. That is too much for ONE diner. They should investigate other menu options. The staff was very nice & friendly. This was my 1st experience dining there. Many people say it is a destination eatery when traveling through the area. I dont thinking Ill dine there again, especially if they still have the Family Style menu b/c its just too much for one person and there arent any healthy alternatives.
Always a great place to take my grandson...if he cant find something he likes here it doesnt exist. Buffett is back but frankly I liked the home style for family dining. Breakfast is good and listening to the local talk radio broadcast LIVE is a bonus!
All the stars are for the atmosphere. It is fantastic. The building is around 100years old and lots of cool signs and lights and stuff. The food was ok for being pulled out of a bag and warmed up. Would think they could put a little more in it for the $20 it costs for dinner. The worst thing was the hostess. She made me change the way I was wearing my mask and then multiple times I seen her walking around with hers totally below her chin. Maybe shell be happier next time.
Good food visit everytime Im in Jackson TN gave them four stars only because I wish they didnt put pork and all of their vegetables.
Stopped on our way through for lunch and was not disappointed! Food is absolutely amazing!! The people are super friendly too! We would definitely go again.
One word. Disappointing. I was excited to try the new family style dining but was disgusted at the end of my experience. First of all the price is too expensive for the quality of food and sanitation that is at this store. The meat selection was all chicken and you can only choose three meats to split between your whole table. The fried fish was soggy. The chicken was dry. Who wants some dried chicken?? I could’ve just went to McDonald’s and the chicken would have been better. The only good “meat” was the chicken and dumplings but I know they are just from a bag. The floors look like they haven’t been cleaned since it opened in 1960. It smells like dead animals are living in the walls. The waitress was nice but I would’ve liked not to have been bothered by her the whole time.
Limited options for buffet in Jackson. This visit was better way better than a previous visit. But Id need another trip to confirm if that was a fluke. The good hasnt outweighed the bad yet.
Best breakfast around no joking my only problem was One of the cooks(big white guy) didnt have a mask or gloves on and didnt wash his hands after repeatedly leaving his station. The black guys cleanliness was flawless.
My family and I decided to take a short ride from Memphis to Jackson. Casey Jones buffet was our primary reason for choosing Jackson. Long story short Im extremely disappointed with the buffet. The food was tasty as always. The service wasnt as good as usual. The WORST part of the experience was NO MASK! The staff all had on mask but no gloves. The guest were serving themselves at the open buffet WITHOUT MASK! Children were talking, touching utensils & putting there hands on food then putting it back. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY UNSANITARY & DISGUSTING. I questioned the staff about why people werent wearing mask. The answer was there was no longer a mandate to wear mask. Therefore they couldnt ask customers to wear them.Needless to say my experience was less than desirable & very disappointing. I couldnt force myself to eat anything else after witnessing everything.IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE OF CONTRACTING COVID19, EAT AT CASEY JONES BUFFET JACKSON, TM
Went for breakfast and would have turned around if we hadn’t paid before sitting. If you want all you can eat they have it, but none of it is good. Quality about like cheap hotel breakfast across the board. Also - open self-serve buffet with no masks on most guests, seating not spread out, still using multi-use items on the tables. I’m not normally nervous but seems like a poor choice currently.
$13.48 for below average breakfast.Atmosphere is 5 starsService is 4 starsCleanliness is 3 starsTaste is 2 starsValue is 1 star.I honestly think some gas stations serve better breakfasts. Its too bad, they have potential, but it seems like they arent even trying. Bacon was barely cooked, table was sticky, floor was sticky, 3 out of 4 stalls in the womens restroom was stopped up with toilet paper. The one stall that was useable had a broken latch for the door and no hook to hang a purse. All in all this is the second time I have left this restaurant disappointed, they will not get a third try. I wont be back, but thanks for the memories.
Ate here with a friend on Saturday, November 21. We were on a road trip. The food was really very tasty and hot. The service was very professional and responsive. I really enjoyed my experience.
Food was excellent! If you leave here hungry, youre doing something wrong. Service was outstanding, they make you feel right at home. The gift shop is an awesome spot for anyone with a sweet tooth. The grounds, train cars and old buildings were a great place to explore. Dont pass up a chance to stop in!
Actually need more shopping areas people come from all over the place loves to shop after eating but not much to shop from.. and buffet is smaller but so expensive my husband said too high for such a small varieties. Sorry and have a blessed day
This has to be the BEST restaurant to eat at around here. I was in town from Paris, TN and was looking for a place to eat. The reviews and internet photos peaked my interest. So, why not try it out. I cannot begin to say enough good things about the food, atmosphere, and staff! The food was like I cooked it, fresh and tasted great. Southern cooking! Drinks were good, cant leave them out!Waitress was above and beyond great! Will be coming back here when in town!!Great job yall!
Food was good. You r able to fix your own food. Beans had a too much salt. Good vibes
Really cool place with great southern food.It looks like a cracker barrel with real props. But it tastes like Grandmas cooking whether you get it from the buffet or you get it to go.If you are looking for a good wholesome meal without the randomness of a corporate restaurant then give this place a try.
When my band is in the area passing thru, we always try to stop and eat. A great place to eat. Great country style cooking. Never been disappointed when weve stopped.
They have decent buffet and it is a very neat place to come visit if you are from out of town and friendly wait staff!
Have mercy! Those take out plates gave me life! Cabbage, green beans, smashed potatoes, turkey and gravy, cracklin corn bread! They were all SO DELICIOUS! Ashamed to admit that once I started, I ate there three times last week! Highly recommend them!
This used to be a great place to eat southern style food, but every time we go..the food gets worse. I went tonight for supper, the only thing i thought was worth eatting was the beans. There was no cracklings in the corn cakes, the macaroni n cheese was so dryed out i couldnt get it out of the serving pan,I love cabbage..but it was over cooked and was just mushy. The meatloaf..dryed out also..So probably my last trip..I have been many times..everytime i have been this year has been a disapointment.
A delicious, homemade dinner I wont soon forget! I could have been very happy with a plateful of four vegetables, but the main dishes were calling to me, and I couldnt resist.I noticed family sized entrees, sides, and desserts in the cooler packed up to take home and heat up. What a great idea for someone who youd like to treat.Yes, you bet I am looking forward to my next Blue Plate Special!
I love this group and I wish them the very best of success. I know its difficult times but they are an icon in this community.
Absolutely love this place food is great and the service is even better. If your in town visiting I highly recommend. They will give u an experience youll never forget. Soutern Country cooking done right. Added more to their selection. So if your a local you should come support and help spread the word on their new n improved buffet. Also have curbside pickup... just call in the order n they bring it out to u.
Hi I hope everyones having a great day my day started out beautiful thought I was going to go to a wonderful place to eat me and my family are from out of town we decided to go see what was the big talk about this place found out that this is the most horriblest place to visit the merchandise is so chancy that its a joke the prices are outrageous and the customers are all walking around talking about prices Im telling you what if you want to go eat somewhere dont eat here this is definitely not country or southern cooking I couldnt believe it it was a mess the grease was outrageous the mashed potatoes literally were not white I dont know what you would call that color the macaroni was so hard that I would never give it to my dog I have no idea what kind of chicken that was if it was chicken the pulled pork I think it was It had so much fat you couldnt find the meat the meatloaf was sitting in an inch of Grease the greens had sugar in them the sweet potatoes had enough pumpkin spice and it could have knocked you down I dont know who cooked this but it (definitely) wasnt southern I felt like I was actually paying to go to a slop bar you know for hogs slop hogs this was gross my dogs eat better than this the white beans you literally could crunch them it was a joke the cobbler was burned on the bottom the corn look like somebody threw up in it Im telling you if you want to eat here call me Ive got some swamp land to sell you too because this was the nastiest food Ive ever saw in my life and theyre representing Casey Jones wow somebody needs to wake up I dont know who owns it or running it but if you dont want to be humiliated bye accepting this kind of garbage as southern food please do not take your family there at the cash register they have a sign there it says if you complain or make some kind of a smart comment they definitely are going to charge you 10 bucks haha we need to charge you for asking us to show up this is gross and I definitely will never go back and never recommend this to anyone and on top of that it was our anniversary and we were going to have a good time this was horrible wont go back please dont ask your family or anybody you want to impress to go there somebody needs to do a checkup in this place I know this is long but this is horrible.
Good and tasty food. Good service. Very nice waitress.
First time visit... The food waa great.. Best fried chicken, corn cakes and good liver and onions. Will go again the next time we are in Jackson TN.
Food excellent, service good. Store was interesting. I am told there use to be more items there. I figure the pandemic is the problem. You have to visit and eat at least once.
Food was abundant and absolutely delicious. Wide selection to choose from. The store had a lot of souvenirs and prices were reasonable. Other shops and an old village to visit next to Brooks.
I gave it 3 based off customer service. Sometimes its a hit and miss. The food is really good to me. My mom and I love the both cobblers. We like the soul food menu as well. I make this a stop each time I go through Jackson. The creamed spinich is very yummy and the chicken is southern fried.
Great food. Friendly service. A little pricey but great food.
Im sure it would have been a more pleasant stop should we have been able to tour and really visit on everything..I felt the food was mediocre at best in the restaurant however that does go back to taste and the way people cook in certain areas so what might be a little off from my southern taste could be extremely good for others so I still would recommend that you give them a try
What happened to this place the food use to be so good part of the staff is friendly the other half acts as if they dont like to serve black people. The containers that have the tea and water are always uncovered you tell someone and its like oh well take it or leave it. No gloves are being worn take out side food on steam table is allowed to be uncovered and its dried out. Same thing every day pork loin dried out macaroni and cheese dried out. What happened
This place is unique they have a buffet of wholesome just down to get good tasting food they also have a heart breakfast mind you the prices are super reasonable I would say check it if youre around
Staying at a nearby motel within walking, the wife and I decided to mosey on over to Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store for breakfast. Our 1st time being in there was a blast. It was or we choose the breakfast buffet. The setup to pay was a little different than expected.Anyway, the breakfast buffet, for us, was delicious, no doubt! Trust me, I stuffed my face with 3 plates/trips of food. Yes, it was way to much to say BUT it was worth it. The waitress limited me to 2 OJs which was odd but understandable. If I’m ever in this part of town, again, I’ll make an effort to stop in here for breakfast early an the morning.
The food was good . And serv8ce was great
We were celebrating our daughters birthday breakfast. I enjoyed the family style setting. I like the new idea and the change since CoronaV.
Liked it better when you did the crackling cornbread. Still very good.
Sop Chocolate Gravy was very good. Biscuits and Bacon are very good.Because of Covid restrictions, it wasnt as pleasant experience as it was before. Its a bit frustrating to have a buffet where you have to ask for the items you want 2nds on and have to pick other items for the to bring to your table. We ended up waiting almost 10 minutes before the food was brought to us. Guess Ill think twice before choosing a buffet until restrictions are lifted.
We had a great experience! Besides the food some folks were singing which made you feel in the heart of the south!
The waitresses were very courteous and bad on the ball. If I lived around here I would definitely be going back.
Awful, everything was cold. Worst experience Ive ever had there. Waitress was nice but manager was rude and awful
Food and service was good. I will definitely return.
Highly recommend this place. Great food and service.
This is the first time I had a horrible experience. Since they changed to family style, the food was horrible . The soup and bread was cold, they have a new recipe for the Mac n cheese which is disgusting. The meatloaf looks like dog food. Everything was bad! The manager and waitress did not have good customer service. Do not waste your money!!! It’s not the same!!! My entire family left unhappy !
The Seas with OK the service was really good but the price is outrageous
Great food! Not a buffet any longer but the family style works just fine and you have more than enough to eat. Service is wonderful!
Love going into this unique store each time I visit I find something I just have to purchase!Great food and great shopping!!
Do not waste your time and money . The food is not anything like the buffet. The waitress was nice and she even said the food is not the same but she said the manager was not going to do anything about it . I would never ever come back again. This was the first restaurant I have been to since everything started opening and it was not worth it. Most of the servers didn’t have on masks properly. What good is a mask if it’s pulled down the whole time ? Food is bad!
I appreciate the effort they have taken to stay open. The idea is great. The food wasnt hot, lukewarm. The bathroom really nasty. The entire place wasnt clean. Felt dirty. Hoping it improves, I really like Casey Jones
Nasty restaurant. Floors were so dirty and so was area around buffet trays. Would never go back nor recommend this place.
Great place for old fashion cooking. The food is great. A nice old southern atmosphere. But due to Covid 19 they are taking away the buffet style eating.
Wasnt told it was not Buffett. It was served as family style. Was not satisfied with service. Will not be back.
Good home still food clean good atmosphere and friendly people great customer service
Fish was so hard you could knock someone out. Vegetables and Mac and cheese taste disgusted. Bread was cold. Will not be back no time soon.
Soglad they got bach to the buffet. enjoy eating there, very goog food.
Went on Saturday, June 27, 1:00pm. Heard they was doing away with the buffet. Was surprised when they still had one. Paid $43.35 up front for two people before we was allowed to enter. Buffet is half the size it use to be. Got some of every single item on the buffet. Sat there and tried to fill up on macaroni and cheese because it was the only thing fitting to eat. Everything else was old and cold. We figure 1pm on Saturday would be hopping so everything would be fresh, NOT. Catfish felt like it had been sitting under an a/c vent and 2 days old. Not going to go down the list because everything was like that. Will never be back. Unknowing travelers will be the only thing keeping this place open for a few more months. Locals will find somewhere else to go. Should have known when maybe only 10 tables of people we in there eating at lunch time something was up. Waitress was great. Gave her a $5 tip. Heres another one...Update your resume because this place will be no more very soon.
Horrible. Unclean, food cold and dried up. Salad not good. Lettuce old out of date or something. Not worth 30 dollars. Dont go. We wont be back no time soon.
Very good place to eat. The food was fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and quick to make sure our drinks were never empty. I am beyond pleased with this place and will definitely be back. A++++
The Buffet is back...a little different, but the food is good, and the servers are even better.
The food was so good. Way above or expectations!
So awesome, museum, country store, and railroad cars!!! I loved it, and the buffet is OPEN!! some normalcy, quite nice!
On the plus side, the catfish on the buffett was meaty and breaded nicely; Salad bar was nice with plenty options. I always like the historic feel of places like these. Dining area was decently kept up, table service was brief but efficient enough. Roof leaked but they at least had the appropriate signs and buckets placed, buffett area was kind of messy, food wasnt at a decent temperature. It was just a bad overall experience, and for someone just travelling through, unless you come for the Town area and the history behind it, I would pass. The Ice Cream bar looked great but I didnt imbibe. Might make a future visit but not planning on it anytime soon.
I will reteact my previous comment about the old country store. The foods great, glad to have the buffet back.
This is a place for excellent country eating. If youre not into meats, the vegetables are awesome too!
A beautiful place to eat and share with your family. I like it because it is very clean.
Not happy with the family style instead of buffet. Portion sizes are ridiculously small and food was low quality. Of course the prices are the same as when the buffet is operating. Several Chinese buffet s are still operating at this time why dont Caseys not mess with years and years of success to change their format, dont mess with success just improve it. I would give zero stars if I could.
The food was delicious, service was great and all at good deal!
Made an interesting yet satisfying decision on the handling of food during this pandemic, as always excellent food and service, plus it actually gives more of a family feel having to make a decision on what is bought to the table
Good service Good Food I will love to go there again if I every down there.
Good food!! Clean Atmosphere!.. Buffett style
Family style was different from my previous visits but everything still was great as usual! Next time I plan on trying the breakfast!
The breakfast was pretty good. The last time I ate supper there, was not as good as it had been in the past.
This was the worst experience we have ever had. Food was completely cold and when asked to speak with manager was sent a kid that didnt have a clue as to how to handle a dissatisfied customer. Waited for 15 minutes to even get to talk to the manager then the only thing he could do was to give us a gift card to spend on stuff at their gift shop. This was the lousiest service, food and management ever would not recommend to anyone.
One of my favorite stops when traveling between Nashville and Memphis
Food is delicious. Went to the breakfast buffet and the staff was friendly and the food was great. Biscuits are fluffy and not dry. Bacons are crisp. They even have fruit for a dessert after all the breakfast food. Only thing to remember is that you have to prepay before you can actual go in and serve yourself.
Pretty good food, but too expensive! And we werent seated 6 ft apart.
Food was superb! Excellent service too!
Their food was terrible. I took a bite of my food And about threw up I hope this prevents other people From coming here because humans should not suffer like that
Great food as always. Family style different? But still left full
Great food. Awesome service. Dont remember our servers name but he was awesome!!!
Went for the buffet for Fathers Day. Service was great. Price was reasonable. Food was excellent. Will be going back
Food was amazing the environment was great you have to stop by if you are driving in the area
Great place to eat and browse. Excited to try Family Style dining starting in a couple of weeks. Great employees and friendly service.
They did the best they could during this covid-19
Great experience. Good was amazing and so was the service
Very cute gift shop, friendly people and the food was authentic southern fare.generous portions, and very yummy.
