Ive experienced this space in multiple capacities: as a pit performer for musicals, as an instructor during Percussion Concussion, as a concert goer, and an ensemble member rehearsing and performing work the community band. All in all the facilities are useful, clean, and well cared for. There is some age evident but it does not detract from the class or use of the building at all. The concert hall is spacious but not huge and has pretty good acoustics, as well.
My secret concert place. Dont tell anyone. Everywhere is a good seat. Newsboys, Kansas, .38 Special, Pink Floyd Experience, Bill Engvall.... my kind of entertainment. Of course theres different genres for every taste. Prices very affordable compared to the Detroit venues. Example, (research it yourself if you doubt my numbers) Front row, center, Potter Center for Bill Engvall - $62. Front row Fox Theater in Detroit (many different acts) - $651. FREE parking at Potter, $20 at The Fox. Duh. Three minute walk to the building if you park in the back row. Modern auditorium, comfortable seating. Beverages available beforehand. Its out in the boonies, so if youre not familiar with the area make sure your GPS is working. Wear comfortable clothing, unless you like dressing up. Youll fit in no matter your attire.
Ive seen quite a few plays at the Potter Center over the years. Its a pretty nice place with an upscale vibe and plenty of comfortable seats. Most people will dress up at least a little to see plays here and I like that because it gives it a special old world feel, its also a great way to show respect toward the actors and crew. Prices are affordable, and I just love supporting local talent! My mom says they need more railings to help people up and down the aisles in the middle of the theater, but I dont really have a problem with that myself (Im happy to be a stabilizer for her). I dont have any issues with the place personally.
We loved it! We saw the News boys Christian concert here. Staff was friendly and theater was very comfortable. Highly recommended!
Saw greatest love of all-Whitney Houston tribute. Was a great show, great venue
They always have great shows. Its easy to navigate the campus.
Great Black history month event recognizing the honor roll students.
Great bagels. New remodel coming and should be really nice.
Newsboys concert. Easy in and easy out. No bad seats.
Staff is friendly. Nice plays. Art of the arts!
The Potter Ctr. itself is magnificent!!! The particular event I bought a ticket for . . . . extremely unimpressive. In my opinion. Only 20 minutes in, was eager for intermission so I could leave. I wish I would have given my time and money to something of better quality than Underwater Bubble show. The young children were amazed! I, as a single person, was not.
The Greatest Love of All Tribute was awesome the performance unforgettable
No bad seats or sight line. A new college professor once told me,I am from New York and cant understand why they would waste putting such a beautiful and acoustical building way out here, in the middle of no where. Then went on to say, You can whisper on stage and be heard anywhere in the audience, and there are no sight blockages. She was right.
The Potter is a great place to watch a program .
Many updates have been made to this building. Looks good in most areas. The classroom I am in for one of my classes is super small and does not have heat, there are 2 small space heaters that arnt even close to enough heat in the winter. Recommend fixing this issue.
Beautiful facilities! So clean and well kept. Jackson Symphony was wonderful with boy soloist! Totally enjoyable evening.
My wife and I pre-bought tickets to experience Tenth Avenue North tour in concert at the Potter Center, Sheffer Music Hall. We attended on Oct. 12th, 2019 @ 7pm and it was an amazing, incredible, very God honoring evening as Austin French also on tour with TAN, invited the crowd to sing along, as did TAN, beginning and than later on too in the show. It was an intimately connected like family and friends all singing together, kind of evening. TANs lead singer gave GOD the glory and the honor all throughout his time behind the mic and clearly in his life away from the stage as well. The acoustics in SMH were crisp. The air was filled with joy, everyone singing and contentment . Great show. Thanks to Tenth Avenue North for inviting us all in. We loved it !!!
Ive been to Potter Center for several shows and it is a great place to see one!
Have attended many events here. Daughter performed in over 20 Dance recitals.
Great experience! Traffic flowed pretty well. Security was great!

We have our daughters summer dance recital at the potter center every year and it is a wonderful venue. The seats are comfortable, the dressing rooms are clean and accessible for everyone! We look forward to our time at the Potter Center every year!
Middle of nowhere but excellent venue with grey sightlines all around
This is an amazing place for a concert, plays or whatever event is plan. The staff were outstanding.
Great acoustics, tiered seating for easy stage viewing, comfortable seats. Nice little gem in our community.
Great venue for first rate shows!
Nice graduation ceremony!
Lots of well know famous people come to our small town.
Every seat in the house is a good one. A little high pricing for a concert and wish they didnt have to serve alcohol out in the lobby.
I attended the Jackson County Drug Summit, and the room was filled. The program was very informative, and the lunch was delicious.
Great place to see musicals especially when your kid is in it!
Difficult to find for an old chick. Great venue!
Shakespeare Festival excellent! Seats are comfortable, Intimate setting, plenty of leg room between seats.
My Daughter and I went to see The Nutcracker at the Potter Center, it was beautiful!
Love the Potter Center. Not a bad location in the house for performances. Unfortunately the actual seats are getting VERY tired.
Great, versatile facility! Ive been here for everything from school graduations, to community theater, to big time rock shows, to small black box Shakespeare, to full on orchestra performances. Each experience was better than the last. A bit out of the way, but a great place to see a show.
Outstanding facilities and presentation of fabulous shows.
Always a good time
Great venue. Small enough that all seats are good.
Perfect for the Jackson symphony
Went to see.38 Special concert. Venue itself was great, but seat numbers were hard to identify. We were told we had to be seated, and could not stand up and dance. Boo.. The people complaining were up dancing at the end. smh... How ANYBODY can sit through such phenomenal music is beyond me!
Saw a concert their, acoustics were just a little soft, hard to hear? Might have been the sound guy because he missed Alot of solos!!!
Facility was clean & beautiful!! Very well maintained!!
Amazing Time, what a great show, always a good time.
Outstanding venue. Like the MSU Wharton Center but smaller
Great place to see a stage show. Not a large venue but still a good place to catch a local show.
