Wonderful museum! Huge collection of fossils and live native animals. Kids (age 10, 8, 4) loved the aquarium tanks of huge fish and alligators. The two headed live snake was a favorite! Cost just under $25 for our entire family and more than got our moneys worth. Clean and good system to make you feel safe touring during covid.
Very nice museum. Very affordable. Nice outdoor trails and elevated viewing. Very informative displays and live fish aquariums.
The only science museum in the Jackson area. Dont expect the Smithsonian when going. BUT, that doesnt mean its not full of interesting and educational exhibits. My daughter and my nephews adore it and love to go often!
Cute museum highlighting all aspects of nature unique to Mississippi. We spent about an hour and a half here, and enjoyed all the exhibits! Pay attention towards the end of the exhibits, there is a section that tells about the history of the museum and the original curator. Would recommend visiting if youre in Jackson!
Great museum! This needs to be at the top of your Jackson visit list. Very nice facility with friendly employees. Lots of money and attention went into this building. I personally enjoyed the birds and raptor exhibit the best. Make sure to take advantage of the walking trails if the weather allows. Kids and adults will have plenty to look at in this museum.
I liked the prices !# under 2 was free 3-18 4$ and adults 6$.I went Halloween day. There was a gourd game: was not many ppl there at all but security guard followed us around asking us to wear masks. But literally we and one other family was there.
I always loved this place when I was a kid. Now weve taken our little girl here for her 2nd birthday and she absolutely loved it too. Live fish, turtles, snakes, and more as well as tons of other cool exhibits. All showing how interesting Mississippis wildlife and natural beauty is.
Great indoor and outdoor activities. Very few people there so great outing with kids.
Our family enjoyed they excellently curated museum. Creative displays and live creatures on display there. My teens still talk about the two headed snake and the dinosaur bone that the PICKERS found and gave to the museum! Go visit, it’s perfect entertainment on a hot day and the admission is very reasonable!
This museum is so amazing!!! They have so many specimens on display and many educational tools. They also have trails behind the building where you cross some waterways and can even encounter deer.
It was so awesome! We can njoyed learning about all of the big river fish as well as all of the indigenous species in MS
Lovely scientific museum in the center of Jackson, MS!Lots of unique specimens and dioramas. I feel in love with the place when I noticed they had one of the best Passenger Pigeon specimens Ive ever seen.Giant ground sloth? They got one!Mastadon skull? Yep. Got that, too!Science and nature lovers will really enjoy this unique place!
This place is super cool. I love science!
So fun! I send my daughter there for the summer day camp ( of course not to this year due to COVID-19) and she always has so much fun! She learns new things every day and has a lot of fun there making crafts or playing with new friends at the maze. Love this museum and will definitely come back soon!
Museum was better than expected. Lots of information about the habitat and wildlife of Mississippi. When my sons and I were there, there was a dinosaur exhibit which was really cool. Live like dinosaurs on the outside with sounds and everything plenty of information and activities (may have to check daily schedule). The Aquarium was tho a few of the exhibits were closed. There was a small gift shop with fair prices. Also there is a huge playground right outside of the museum area in which you can enjoy once youve paid to enter the park. If its summer months BRING WATER.
Great educational place with traveling exhibits. The MS wildlife section is always a hit with turtles, alligators, hard and giant catfish. You cant forget the snakes! There are awesome walking trails through out the back.
We have always loved the Museum of Natural Science and we visit fairly often since moving to the metro about 15 years ago. Such a nice way to spend a few hours with your family (even when theyre tweens and teens) and maybe learn something new. See the animatronic dinosaurs exhibit while its here!
Great atmosphere! Awesome staff! Lots of interesting displays and then of course the dinosaurs exhibit is amazing!
The live critters the kids loved!!!
This place was so fun. The exhibits were organized well and I loved the reptiles and aquariums. The nature trails were open and the kids and I took just a short stroll. Museum was very clean and the prices unbeatable. Highly recommend.
This was such a great place to go. We drove 2 hours and it was so worth it!!! There is so much here to see! My kids even loved it, and they are hard to please
Great place to visit in Jackson. Very affordable, family of 3 visited for under $20. Plenty of exhibits to see. Kept my 11 year old and myself engaged. They have a small aquarium section with some disc I have never seen before. At the time we visited there was also a Ripley exhibit. There was a section for toddlers that looked really fun. I definitely recommend stopping by.
This was a fabulous museum and the trails were awesome recommended A+
Took my husband (hes NEVER been) and he was amazed and thrilled to see the variety of different species. My children and I have visited many times and absolutely love coming here!
Great place to explore with kids!
Pretty cool place. There are aquariums, displays, terrariums, and a lot more. Great information. Real cool trails and views. Not a lot of thugs as I suspected being this close to Jackson. Definitely worth a visit. Plan to return.
This place has some amazing facts...check it out
We enjoy this place! The kids love it.
Went here as a kid for field trips and its as amazing today as it was then. Now my kids get to enjoy it!
Love taking my kids here. Very nice environment
Had a good time at this museum! One of the few attractions around Jackson. Loved the exhibitions and their variety. Learned a lot and just enjoyed it. It is good for all ages!
Had a wonderful time ! My wife, our two nieces & myself went March 12 while the kids were out on spring break . Good experience at a very reasonable price & so easy to get to! This is great for Mississippi. The two headed snake was the star of the day as everyone enjoyed seeing it. Staff very friendly & informative!
My 6 yo loved the outside dinosaurs. The inside exhibits were as amazing as always. Always love this place.
Fun indoor adventure that is also very clean and organized for the pandemic. There was so much to see and they even decorated for Halloween
A great museum for the entire family!
It shows local live and past critters birds and fish including reptiles and a nice trail. I always take my girls here.
Very educational and exciting. We all enjoyed it.
Great place to take curious children and the walking trails were a lot of fun.
Awesome Dinosaur exhibit and local natural history.
Lots of stuff to see out front in their display and aquarium sections. The behind the seen labs are where the magic is. I believe they said they had between 2 and 3 million specimens stored on site. We saw a ton of them and didnt scratch the surface. Really cool tour. Thanks to all our MDWFP personnel for all you do to protect and serve our natural resources. Yall are awesome!
Wow! Im so glad we made this part of our summer road trip. Reasonably priced and very fun! The aquarium had all the fish and animals that are native to the Mississippi River and the gulf coast. We were amazed at all the different types there are. The Ripleys Believe It Or Not exhibit was interactive and informative. I definitely feel we left this museum much smarter than when we arrived.
Took me daughters. Very educational. Daughters loved it.
I like visiting museums and seeing cool stuff.
This place should be labeled as more as a nature center. There are several dinosaur fossils along with other type of animal fossils. With that in mind, this is a great place to see animals that are indigenous to the state of Mississippi.Staff members are available to answer any questions that my arise. A great place for young kids to learn about all types of local animals. The aquarium and terrarium offer a close-up view of native fish, snakes, turtles from the state. The two-headed snake is freaky as were all of the various snake exhibits.Birds, bears, deer, wild boar, rats, squirrels and various other game life are present but lifeless.(Thats a good thing)Outdoor nature trails are available for nature hikes and exercise.A great family trip for the money! My 2 year old grandson love it!
I really enjoyed visiting this museum. It is great for learning, discovering and exploring. Many of the exhibits are interactive and I feel that I would be a great place to take kids to.
Kids friendly and a peaceful place.
Beautiful...nice workers
Wasnt sure what to expect, but I was blown away! The museum focuses on Mississippi Natural History, but it has plenty to show and tell. I was fascinated by the variety of fossils discovered throughout the state, and to see the wildlife exhibits. My absolute favorite area were the live animal exhibits. The baby turtles were adorable, the snakes were hypnotizing, and the fishes were awesome! So glad I had the chance to go, and sorry I couldnt spend more time. Cant recommend enough!
We had a great family day here. This is a nice facility with cool exhibits.
Cant recommend this gem more highly. What everyone else said!
Had more fun here than the new Orleans zoo and aquarium.
I enjoyed this place. We even took a walk on the nature trail. Lots to see.
Cool aquarium. Lots of free parking. Alligators, turtles, two headed snake and lot of fish. Pretty neat experience only down side not very knowledgeable or interactive staff.
We went twice recently while traveling. They had the best dino exhibit and the preschool room is adorable.
Educational and fun place to go
It was amazing. I really enjoyed it. I go and take my children every time i get the chance.
My kiddo had a great time at the newest exhibit--Ripleys Believe It Or Not. Wish wed stayed longer
From Florida visiting Family and came with my 10 yr old. We really enjoyed it.
Great place to learn about Mississippi natural resources. Looking deep into the far reaches of the past to see how Mississippi has come to be and the creatures that once inhabited Mississippi.
A must see for all nature lovers of all ages. Step back in time and see Mississippi as never before. Live exhibits by far one of the coolest things in the entire city. Weather permitting, enjoy the loop trails to Mayes Lake and surrounding cypress trees. Would return.
Fun, but a lot of little screamers.
Educational and informative. The kids loved the Ripleys exhibit. But after seeing all those poisonous snakes I had to say no no to the nature walk.
One of the best museums Ive visited
Great events, helpful staff, well maintained displays. Tons of reptiles and fish including a 2 headed snake. Preschool room. Right next to the Childrens Museum and a fantastic playground.
This was so much fun!!!! Wear closed toe shoes when hiking the paths though, glad my friends son was on my shoulders when we passed by the snake of questionable coloring! It is a trail, and outside, cant be too careful! BUT ITS GORGEOUS I will definitely be going back to see more! The dinosaurs are a fun touch for more than just the kids too!
Always have an awesome time there! I used to go there with my friends when I was over 18 just because it was so much fun. One time they had a giant blow up velcro wall and he put on a vulgar outfit and jump of as high as you can and gets stuck on the wall. Now I just bring my daughter and she has a a vast experience every chance we get to go and they always getting new things in every time we end up going!
Interesting seasonal exhibits and permanent collection (especially the aquarium section). Everything is kid-friendly, and the extensive grounds/surrounding park are definitely highlights!
Really Cool, the different exhibits had so many really interesting things to look at and lots of intriguing live animals. Also spent almost a half hour in the gift shop because of the cool things there to buy. They make great presents for family and friends.
This is a wonderful place to take your kid(s)! We took our 2 small children (2&4) and they absolutely loved it. Lots of exhibits to look at and plenty of things to touch and learn about. The prices are extremely reasonable and we had a good time. Theres a trail that you can walk through, an aquarium area and dinosaur bones. Very clean and safe place. Highly recommend.
We love the Natural Science Museum, and our two year old daughter does too! They have lots of live animals (fish, alligators, etc), fossils (dinosaur and otherwise), and fun rotating exhibits to come back for. Its surrounded by a fun playground for the kids and is next door to the Childrens Museum, which is also great.
Great place to bring kids to explore and learn.
Fun place but a few exhibits were down. Hopefully they will be up and going the next time we come.
5 stars for the price. We went during dinosaur exhibit with two young boys. Only about 1-2 hours but the park right next to it gave us a couple more hours of entertainment.
Kids loved it. Very cool and educational!
Very good museum. The Aquariums were well taken care of and all the Animals were very healthy.
Wonderful experience for children of all ages and adults. Beautiful exhibits and they even have a preschool room for the very little ones.
Dinner and Dive 2020 was awesome....
Great way to kill a couple hours. Two headed snake is both fun and evil looking. Someone should destroy it.
It was really great time with my family.Every section was well organized.
Ive practically raised my son at this place. The staff is so friendly and eager to share their knowledge. The exhibits are usually interesting and fun for all ages. The events are a blast and are only slightly ruined by the large quantity of people that attend (another testament to their success). Weve been a member for years now and will be for many to come!
Brought four children ages 2-4 for an educational, but oh-so fun, couple of hours. We called ahead to schedule a story time. What a treat! Denise, the museum employee, shared books, information and an alligator and snake petting experience. I recommend visiting the museum if you have a natural science buff in your party. An excellent way to spend a day.
A fun place to visit, particularly for kids ages 5-12. The fish, alligators, and turtles are always fun to watch, and they do have a small play area for younger kids (ages 1-4). One area contains a rotating exhibit that changes a couple times every year. It’s also right next door to the children’s museum, so go to both!
Exhibits were awesome but not much to look at. The nature trails are beautiful though!
The facility is excellent with well maintained displays and helpful staff who love what they do. Matt Wagner and his staff gave us a behind the scenes tour and there is a huge collection of the flora and fauna of Mississippi here. Well done!
This is one of our favorite places to go visit. Its always so clean and everyone is go friendly and knowledgeable. Love it!
Small, but packed with so much interesting information. The trails were beautiful and maintained. Kids and adults will love it
I visited the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science last year and had a great time! It is located close to downtown Jackson, so you dont have to do much driving to get between this attraction and the citys other major points of interest. The museum is in a beautiful location on the banks of the Pearl River, and it is technically a part of LeFleurs Bluff State Park. The state park supports many fun activities in the area surrounding the museum, including some beautiful hiking trails that I enjoyed after seeing the museum. The museum is composed of exhibits covering the long-term natural history of Mississippi and the modern day environment in the state. Some of the exhibits on modern habitats even feature living animals (typically fish and reptiles) that call these habitats home! The museum was well organized and was a fantastic introduction to the nature and natural history of Mississippi. I liked how each of the habitat exhibits featured a map showing exactly where in the state you can find the habitats.
My family and I enjoyed our visit to see the Pangaea display. The dinosaurs were awesome. We will definitely go back to visit again.
We bring my niece and nephew any chance we get. They absolutely love it. And the current exhibit (Ripleys believe it or not) is the best
Great time and the instructor is Awesome!
We stopped here on our drive back from New Orleans. Pretty fun little museum, right off the highway. Its attached to an adjacent state park with a nice playground and picnic area. Worth a visit!
This was so much fun!The tirtle and alligator exhibit is awesome. They make great presents for family and friends. We will definitely go back to visit again.
Great learning experience for all ages, some staff were more helpful then others but overall a great place for entertaining children
Great place for kids and adults
Love the live animal exhibits
I love this place. Nice staff, cool stuff to look at. Its quiet, clean, and spacious.
My toddler has loved the dinosaur exhibit this summer. She also loves the fish! This museum is a great place to hangout!
Above all else...ride the frog!
