Nice little museum with lots of interesting things to see. I would have liked a little more explanation of all the artifacts and what they were used for, but worth checking out.

They do their best to keep the history of my familys hometown alive but it gets harder as Jackson Hole becomes a bigger tourist attraction.

We stopped here while on vacation. The lady behind the counter was nice and very knowledgeable. It was eye opening on how the early settlers lived. It should be a must see for any age.

Very knowledgeable staff, and helpful. Steve walked me though a lot of the artifacts and had intricate detailed information about each one. Probably the best place to get a lot of the real stories behind Jackson.

Jackson Hole Historical Society and MuseumFounded in 1958 by avocational archaeologist and western history enthusiast Slim Lawrence, Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum plays a critical role in the Jackson Hole community and Greater Yellowstone. In addition to collecting, preserving and exploring the past, the museum supports educational programs and research that focuses on archaeology and the history of the Native American presence in the Intermountain West.

Thought there would be more substance to this museum but was pleased with homey feel of the space.Dont forget to go down the hall to the left of the attendant to view the original photos of the area back in the day!If I remember correctly the fee was $4 and it took us about an hour to view the displays.

A smaller museum but with interesting photos and artifacts. The second location with the Indian artifacts was closed that day unfortunately. It took us about 45 minutes to get through this one and then another 15 minutes in the store. They did have a lot of things including books on sale which we took advantage of.

We are here in Jackson for one week and find this place is closed for all of April. Why??. We are two Australians on tour we cannot discover the history of the area. Please remember we will warn others visitors to this lovely town and there are many other US visitors like us out at the Aspens condominiums and none of us can visit in April. I will never be back in Jackson Hole as we will visit other parts of the US and Europe in our travels. Not even the visitors centre mentioned you were closed.
