Such a cool place! A must if you are staying in the Jackson area for a few days. An art gallery with hundreds of paintings, could easily spend 1-2 hours here. Divided into many different rooms with different art themes / styles. All of the paintings focus on wildlife art. We especially enjoyed the modern art room. Really cool stuff and affordably priced, definitely worth it.
I loved all of the sculptures! We enjoyed the historical tome line presented by all of the displays. The children activities lokk like a fun time for kids too!
Beautiful sculptures! It has real life sized sculptures of moose, bison, eagles, wolf etc. there are also abstract sculptures. this is a paid museum with a $15 free for general admission and discounted fee for veterans, military, senior citizens and free for children 4 years old and under. If you don’t like to pay, you can visit the free outdoor nature trail sculptures and just follow the path on the left most location of the property that loops around the area and ends in the huge eagle sculpture on the other side.
Temp check on entry. Absolutely fantastic facility. Could have spent the entire day there.
Beautiful work. The connected restaurant also has amazing food. They are currently showing local artists in a fundraiser for the museum, and seeing the diversity of their work was one of my favorite parts.
Beautiful museum with indoor and outdoor exhibits. Have a cute cafe with outdoor seating ad well with views over the elk refuge. Currently have some exhibits closed for renovations but are offering discounted admission prices for that!
Beautiful museum with incredible art. Definitely worth a stop on your way to the Tetons. The staff was very kind and helpful as well.
You can explore the outside and lobby sculptures for free. That alone is worth the trip. Tired as we were, we thoroughly enjoyed the inside art. The had a special exhibit on the photography of National Geographic photographer, Stephen Wilkes which was amazing, stunning, breath - taking, and incredible. There was also a film of a presentation he gave with Q&A afterwards. The gift shop was great. The restaurant closes at 4:00, the museum at 5:00. I highly recommend a visit. It was a highlight for us.
Wonderful exhibits and very emotional if you have a love of wildlife. I’d recommend a stop here to anyone visiting the area.
Pretty cool place with some awesome and large wildlife sculptures. There is also a restaurant, short trail to view the outside sculptures, and a paid gallery inside the museum. O did not go through the paid gallery, however, it is still worth a quick stop to see the free portion and sculptures if you have a few free minutes.
Well worth the trip. The collection was much more extensive than we expected. The exterior sculptures are wonderful.
Beautiful art in a beautiful setting. Was also taken aback by just how nice and friendly the staff were!
Beautiful presentstion, excellent location. Too bad restaurant was closed. Would loved to spent more time.
This is a beautifully laid out Museum! We enjoyed the relaxed pace and we will visit here again.
So glad I stopped. What a great collection. Met one of the artists.I wasn’t sure what to expect but the museum is one of my favs!
Ok, let me start off by saying Im not the most cultured individual on the planet. That being said, I had a great time here. The staff was friendly and the artwork was great.Id come back.
First: a brief confession: I never actually went in. We had so much fun outside that we ran out of time to actually see the museum. The sculptures outside were beautiful! If youve got a spare minute, its completely worth a stop! The view from the top is breathtaking.
Really incredible sculptures and art. Bigger than expected, and a great variety of pieces. Incredible restaurant! Done by the same people as Gather
Very nice facility and friendly knowledgeable staff. Not quite what I was expecting as it is more paintings than other forms. Very old (1800s) to modern artists and their paintings and some bronzes. It is worth a stop, especially if you paint.
Beautiful art and an excellent lunch. A great way to spend a rainy day!
Beautiful building. Gorgeous, varied art, interesting displays and a unbelievable restaurant with an outdoor patio up high with sweeping views.
The depiction of Wildlife Animals was magnificent. A must see for families.
The environmental and architectural of the museum is very well suited to the subject matter. The museum has gathered an impressive collection of wild life artwork, offering a decent spectrum of wildlife art. Information placards are actually useful and a good length. There is a childrens area appropriate for an art museum with several interactive exhibits for youngsters.Admissions is very reasonable, and there are several sculptures you can see outside for free
Beautiful Art and Building. When we were in the gift shop asking about prints from a featured artist. They told us to go to the Gallery in Jackson Hole. The mature lady working was very dismissive of us and spoke down to us as if we could not afford the art in the Gallery. We will go back.
Great food great art. Well worth the time.
Out of all of my trip to Yellowstone this was by far the most amazing and memorable for me. As a young artist with a passion for color and art this Art Museum about had me in tears, so many beautiful pieces and the building itself has an amazing was of glowing together! There is an area for the little kiddos to play and have fun, learn and so some art of their own and a section where they can read with dolls like the wild things. I am in love with this place, I will be taking my family and kids there again one day. They have a beautiful gift shop that isnt overwhelming and they have some beautiful and unique gifts. They have amazing things to look at outside along with the view! I dont think I could have found a more amazing and beautiful art Museum to go to.
Excellent location for a family friendly outing a hidden gem that can be easily driven pass without noticing to stop and share the sights of the National Museum of Wildlife. Definitely worth the visit just outside of Jackson Hole WY.
A wonderful museum tucked amongst the hills of Jackson. We ate at the cafe, which was a lovely experience-and a nice option away from the hustle of downtown Jackson.
Incredible and not to be missed. Bierstadt, Wyeth, Okeefe and many other greats all represented!
This place was closed when we got here but the statues that were outside around the place were just amazing would love to go in the next time.
Our bus tour group visited this museum after taking a sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge across the road. Very large and diverse displays. Also several childrens learning areas although there were no children with our group. Very enjoyable way to spend an hour or two. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
Pretty good place to visit. Takes a couple of hours to see all the exhibits.
Really cool arts and paintings. I dont like artsy stuff that much but I can certainly say this place is worth visit. There is a student discount, just need to ask for it.
Some extremely awesome bronze statues, sculptures, and rockwork! If you love arts and museum type items, this is a awesome place to visit! They also have trails and little walks that people that have limited mobility can do around all the bronze statues. Do not miss this place if you are heading to Yellowstone or any of the Grand Teton area.
Beautiful location on a bluff in the center of a majestic natural landscape. The outdoor sculpture walk as well as the aspen walk provide fantastic opportunities to walk atop a butte in the Teton area. The museum building and facilities are state of the art and provide a comfortable environment for the conservative naturist, like myself. The museum allows exploration in an isolated natural landscape but with the availability for a convenient rest station as needed. My friend and I did not have time to visit the inside exhibit after the exhilarating outdoor walks. There is also a restaurant inside the museum that we did not get to try. There is a nice gift shop.
I am glad I stopped to check how it was. It turned out to be a very good experience. All art works about wild life are impressive and high end quality.
The animal art is lovely, as is the building and the location.
Very nice, lots of great paintings and bronzes. A must stop!!
GREAT DISPLAY - WORTH A VISIT!! Beautiful observation deck, great view of the valley with a free telescope to use!! Gives you a good understanding of the local wildlife and you get to see the changes in human perspective over time. PRICE$$: You can get discount on the somewhat hight prices if you are a child, student, vet, military, or senior person which brought our groups price per person down to around $7 instead of the usual $12 per adult.LAYOUT: The layout is scattered but small enough to make sure you can see everything in at least 2 hours if you dont linger.DISPLAYS: There is a very informative display about invisible boundaries and the affect on wild life migration patterns in Yellowstone area that is eye opening. There are interactive displays and videos that convey the scale of the Yellowstone ecosystem very effectively. You get to see almost first hand how animals are oblivious to the boundaries of the park. The display is on loan for a few seasons I believe so go check it out if youre in the area this year!! (2018)There is also a statue of the mythical Hercules taming the stallions, which was made by the same man who sculpted the famous mount Rushmore faces.KIDS: kids will definitely enjoy the visit to the museum. Not only is is small enough so they wont get bored, but theres plenty of interactive displays and interesting pictures. There is an entire section for kids with workshops and play areas. Great thinking!!
Such a great museum, I was so so so glad we stopped.
Unexpected stop we took. Great place to see wildlife art.
Nice displays and they update their website
An amazing gem we didnt even know about! Stopped in after driving past the sign. Theres a sculpture trail outside, although some of it is hard to get to in winter, so we mostly observed from the lot. Excellent exhibits, both modern and ancient. A cute educational area for kids and a spotting scope to observe the elk refuge across the street. Definitely worth a stop in!
Incredible art. Friendly people.
Wow, awesome place. loved the gift shop as well
Very interestingGrey experience
Great place with animal statues.
Wonderful art museum!
Ate lunch in Cafe. Indeed it is a restaurant with a view. Nice exhibits. It is a place most people drive by and do not realize it is up on the hill on their way to Yellowstone.
An amazing array of western art and beautifully displayed. The setting overlooking the Elk Refuge just adds the atmosphere. Great gift shop.
It was worth our stop to appreciate the bronze outdoor sculptures in the area. We got there pretty late to go to the Wildlife Museum but definitely worth the stop.
We thoroughly enjoy visiting the Wildlife Museum. Impressive.
Really a lot of great Art and the restaurant was excellent.
From Pablo Picasso to Charles Russell, if you enjoy wildlife art then you will be glad you paid this place a visit. Take a stroll outside overlooking the National Elk Refuge while you immerse yourself in life-size sculptures or walk the halls to view amazing works like Chief by Robert Bateman.
If you love wildlife, or if you love art, you should go. If you love both, like me, youll absolutely love it. The collection is beautiful and well presented. Theres a stunning Rungius gallery, some Warhol pieces, and more. I love that one of the gallery is dedicated to raise awareness about the animal trade. The building and its location are well worth a stop even if you dont go in. Just go!
Beautiful place with a free sculpture garden loop outside the museum. $12 for adults, but you get $2 off with the coupon by the Palate host.
A neat little museum with some truly stunning works of art.
Fun place to visit, the film about the photographer Mangelson, was interesting as well we visited his gallery in downtown, and had done lunch next door. The enormous sculptures outside heading up and all around the outside were just incredible. Because the cafe, and gift store along with an exhibit area were closed, I felt a bit “short changed”.
Must see - animals beautifully captured in photos and art.
Great art in a very nice facility.
The most beautiful pieces of wildlife exhibited that I have seen anywhere.
Lots of nice sculptures!
Nice art area open to the public, but admission is a bit high.
Today I visited with a few friends to walk through the sculpture park while the museum is under construction. We had been walking through the grounds for about an hour when a man came out from the building. He had no name tag and didnt introduce himself to us. He asked where we came from and to stay away from the building. We told him we had parked in the museum lot and apologized for getting too close to the building. He then closely followed us silently as we made our way back through the sculpture walk. It was unsettling to have this man who never introduced himself follow a group of women silently for several minutes as we were pressured back into our cars. He then pointed to the museum closed sign. However there wasnt anything blocking pedestrian access to the sculpture walk or notice of the walk being closed as well.We had no problem leaving the premises but having an unnamed man follow us without saying a word as we got into our cars was uncomfortable and very unprofessional.
What a gem! This museum houses some amazing art collection from wildlife around Wyoming, especially Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. The quality of the art work is stunning, from world renowned artists and merits a visit to anyone visiting Jackson Hole, The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
Check it out just to sit in the parking lot over looking the meadow thats a elk persevere.
I did not pay $14 to enter, however I did enjoy the art outside and the gift shop. Definitely worth a stop.
Absolutely wonderful museum of Western American art! The Herb Alpert sculptures were amazing. Plan to spend more time than you ever thought you would. So much to see!
Its a neat place to check out. The whole time spent in and out is no more than 90 minutes.
I especially enjoyed the sculpture.
Architecturally impressive building with a variety of pieces both old and new. The art was excellent however for me the building and its placement up on a hill overlooking the national elk refuge was the winner. No elks were seen, but the weather made it a perfect time to stand outside the museum and soak in natures beauty.
Beautiful art though I would have been more satisfied with a $10 ticket rather than $15.
Very friendly place with some great art, a definite stop when in Jackson Hole
Absolutely outstanding! I could spend three days here. Painting, drawing, sculpture from abstract to realism. The Andy Warhol exhibit had more depth than I expected. Lovely lunch at the restaurant, Palate.
Beautiful museum about the American wildlife, mainly based on late 19th and 20th century painting. The building itself is amazing. Personally Im not really a sculptures guy, but also these are really nice. Finally: the information provided in the rooms was not extensive and therefore perfect
I was in a bus tour group of 40 and the docents divided us into 3 smaller groups. Our fabulous docent needed to quickly get us through each room so the next docent could do her stuff. I was never so mesmerized by art before. I could literally put my nose inches away from the works and marvel at the thousands of brushstrokes. As I left a room a Rungius piece seemed to glow and call my attention. I really want to revisit the place.
So cool. I went to Jackson a few years earlier and didnt even know this was there! Im so glad we got to explore this museum. It had pretty famous artists in it like Georgia okeffe. If you end up going to jackson I would recommend spending some time in the museums and art galleries.
Beautiful place, great staff, lots of art
Excellent break from hiking and other activities. First rate facilities and helpful staff. Our children within a wide age span got a lot out of the experience. Definitely recommend this touch of class and educational opportunity.
Always a wonderful place... not just blowing smoke here but the ladies in the gift shop are the absolute nicest people you will ever meet.. if you go in please tell them that.. it is such a rear thing that people in those positions are nice anymore..
Lovely collection in a lovely location
AWESOME ! ! ! ! would give 10 stars if possible. Well worth the admittance. Nicely presented, spacious, easy on the eyes. Enjoyed the outside pieces even more! Would go back again, just wish we were local :-)
Great art, I was given free entry for being a veteran.
Just ate there today. The Bison Gyro was fairly good but the wrap was non-traditional in a small and hard way that is not for everyone. The chips were vinegar when they came out which wasnt my favorite. Ice tea was good.
Awesome building and a strong collection, including some top-name artists (Bierstadt and even Picasso). I loved the Ringius collection. The building was striking on its own, and its location makes for great viewing of the Elk Refuge--probably a great place to visit in the winter! We didnt have a car, but the 2-mile bike ride from Jackson was beautiful and easy, so would recommend getting there that way if possible!
Amazing art and staff. Very detailed and informative videos and signs. Only complaint is that they take your backpacks and do not put them in a secure space. Otherwise great. Would reccommend
Beautiful art, upscale causual restaurant, and a gift shop. Good way to spend time till your hotel check in time.
A great collection of wildlife art, a great cafe with a view of the elk refuge, and a gift shop filled with items for everyone.
Wonderful way to spend a chilly afternoon!
Beautiful paintings, photographs, and sculptures!
Fantastic display of wildlife and landscape art.
My kids and I love going here. First sundays for locals is such a great event for all of us!
Images of local wildlife, especially grizzly and black bears, moose, wolves, birds, local plants. Side garden of sculptures by musician Herb Alpert. Restaurant, gift shop, and docent-led tours available.
Its a beautiful museum
Amazinnnng museum!
Enjoyed the museum also had lunch that was excellent.
