The Lilly House is beautiful, and if some new cabinets are installed I may move in. My budget is $150,000. Re-max, are you listening? It was a beautiful day to walk around the gardens. I feel like I only experienced a small fraction of the gardens so Ill go again another day!

Absolutely worth an afternoon of wandering. The Indianapolis Art Museum is wonderful and the Lily estate is included in that admission. The gardens and grounds are fabulous. The landscape designer was the same man who later designed and developed Central Park in NY. I happened to arrive on a Friday when the Lily house has free tours (2 pm). The house was the country house of the Lily family and it was marvelous to stroll through to see their furnished home with libraries, secret doors, game rooms, and even the garage with a vintage car inside. The gardens took hours for me to wander through. They were setting up on the lawn for a wedding as I left. Beautiful place.

Our daughter had her wedding pictures taken at Newfields at the end of July. The cost is $50 for the group if they arent members. The grounds are lush and green. The paths and walls and rocks, along with the green house provide assorted backdrops the photographer took advantage of for pictures. He chose the Lilly House for the backdrop of the wedding party, which turn out beautiful. Having the downstairs restrooms available there was a plus. And, there was a wedding set up for that day and another bridal party getting pictures taken, which was also fun to be a part of.

Our family loves going to to Newfields/IMA. One of the centerpieces of the gardens is The Lilly House.Often you can tour around the house and take in the history. On occasions such as the Winter Lights the Lilly House was decorated for Christmas which was lovely to see.Usually you can go up to the upper floors where there have been rotating exhibits including photos around the grounds by IMA staff.I enjoy talking pictures myself and have captured many nice shots from the years we have lived around here and had a membership.

The walk around was amazing! Just being able to roam about the yard and around the fountain was fun for me. This is a great place to go to if you’re looking for a pleasant walk through a garden and by the fountain. The greenhouse was pretty cool. I didn’t think it was extraordinary but still fun!

Attended early afternoon. Traffic was light and parking was easy. Nice clean facility with a decent cafeteria and various flower gardens to stroll on the grounds. Eli Lilly house located there and open for viewing. Nice collection of art on 3 levels. Apparently one of the best in US for pointalism. Enjoyed a nice 1 hour tour by a local artist. Lovely afternoon.

The grounds are beautiful and well kept. They also do a great job at keeping up with the mansion. It is cool to experience the history of the building and the Lilly family. However on the tour they didnt let us see any of the upstairs which I didnt like. You want to see at least majority of the house, not just half of it

This wasnt as exciting for me as Newfields, but art so I cant complain. There are several rooms with photographs of the Newfields grounds. There are several photographs by the same photographers. There are drawings by different age groups. And there are always people watching you on staff. My son was using his camera outside and it used an automatic setting when we came inside, so it used its flash. Someone came rushing over to let everyone know he cant do that. Absolutely accidental, but we had him put it away for the remainder of our time in the house. Youll need to walk up and down stairs. There is elevator access. If your children are the type to walk through the museum without knocking into things and the type to appreciate walking and looking at art, this might work out for them. My kids are 9 and 10 and they did OK, but my 9 year old didnt last long and was happy to escape to the outdoors upon exiting. She does much better in the main building where there is more room and places for children where they are allowed to be children.

This is a solid example of 19th century country estate. We found the historical film clip, off the lobby, to be entertaining and educational. I think, at one time, the home had more furniture, though the wall exhibits are interesting. The gardens are well kept and the temporary recycled plastic animals are a fun-for-the-kids novelty. The gardens are well kept and then you have the park just across the river for those who like a good hike in the city..but thats for another review. The four stars is because you can no longer access the gardens without going through the freshly renamed Newfields Art Museum.

Included in the price of admission at Newfields (the new brand of the IMA) the Lilly house and gardens are a historical and botanical landmark. Tour the Lilly house ground floor full of amazing antique and collectable furnishings or stop by the historic green house to view well kept plants and flowers of all kinds. Dont forget the summer beer garden out front of the green house!
