Nice place to stroll through by yourself or with family. I didn’t see anything spectacular, but good enough. For connoisseurs of world famous botanical spots, the likes of Longwood Gardens in PA, this is not it. Would I come again? I think so, would like to be here in the spring and watch what new blossoms are in store.
Fun thing do to in Spring/Humble area. The garden was surprisingly larger than I thought it would be! I wouldnt going during the middle of summer since a lot of the area seemed pretty dry. But, I think they did a great job in laying this place out in a fun way that you could go explore different plants. I personally loved seeing banana trees in the mix!
Gem in Humble! Loved that every plant was labeled and had a wide variety of plants that I hadnt seen before. Lots of people were doing photo shoots here so if youre looking for that, this is your place. After the garden, we walked along the paved trails on the west side of the park. Its a lot bigger than it looks! Great park with no admission fee!!
This is the perfect place to unwind, relax, decompress, fall in love with nature, flowers, birds, bees, lizards and they even made hints towards maybe a few snakes. Hmmmm Forget about the last thing. Its just big enough to be useful but small enough to not get lost. People are friendly, nature is available, abundant, real, ready, willing and able. If youre ever in the area youve got to drop by even if its to prove me wrong!
Very quiet, scenic and beautiful location to meditate, relax, read, take pictures or walk. Enjoyed the various water ponds, flowers and swings that are throughout the garden. Didnt go over to the other side (Arboretum), but Im sure its as beautiful as the garden side. Opportunities to volunteer, which Im looking to partake in eventually.
Found out about some interesting plant names here that I never knew about. This garden is the perfect way to spend a nice morning/afternoon walking with nature. Also, great learning experience of various plants that I could potentially grow in my own garden one day. I highly recommend this spot. There are many areas within the garden that would make an amazing background in any photo.
Stopped by the Gardens to kill time on the way to an event and enjoyed ourselves immensely.Gardens are clean and well marked. Was easy to know what you were looking at. Signs and walkways were in good repair, benches and attractions were in good shape.Enjoyed the variety of plants, trees, and flowers. The kids with us enjoyed seeing what were herbs and what was fruit or decorative.A great experience at no cost that is a huge benefit to us all. Grateful to all the volunteers and sponsors of the Gardens.
Its very pretty. I came during a cold spell so most of the plants were sleeping. Im positive that if/when I come back in the warmer months that it will be bright and colorful!
Love this place. Ive been visiting them 20+ years and have seen all of the work and upgrades theyve done. Wonderful job! If youre a plant lover, they have plant sales a couple times a year that are incredible. Over half the plants at my house are from them!
Excellent garden to walk around. Not crowded on a Thursday morning. Trails around park are nice. Lots of beautiful plants and flowers to see. Well kept and clean. Maps available at visitors center.
I didnt realize how close I was to this not-so hidden gem! I loved how well kept the gardens are. Such a variety of florae! The swings were beautifully positioned throughout the gardens. The colors! The garden for kids was too cute with the miniature homes, oversized chair, and hopscotch tiles! My favorite part was Shakespeares Garden. So thoughtful. I appreciate the post about snakes and the conservation of endangered species! While I liked to explore every bit of new places, I was sad some were temporarily closed. Understably, it had rained quite a bit.The west side was so peaceful. The bogs were undisturbed stunning. I only made it halfway on the west side so Ill be back soon! For those who love this Botanical Gardens, check out the San Antonio Botanical Gardens! My favorite place to visit but you do have to pay.
Been coming here since I was a child and it is still a beautiful Garden. Several species of trees ferns flowers herbs and insects. Has a fun scavenger hunt for the kids and an informative building. Definitely a lot of walking and tons of information on the plants all around this Garden. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view.
Such a beautiful and peaceful place. The kiddos loved it. We went at 3pm and not many people were there. If u plan on visiting, I recommend you bring some off spray.
Our family was looking for a place to spend part of the weekend away from crowds during Covid-19 pandemic, so we were so glad to have found this beautiful, well-maintained garden. We had the most wonderful time pacing through the garden. The western loop of the park also adjoins Timber Lane hike & bike trail and Cypress Creek hike & bike trail, which our family brought our bikes to enjoy afterwards.
Love strolling thru the winding pathways looking at the variety of flowers and bushes. And if you like seeing little lizards, this is your place! Some weeks it seems like every little metal name post has a small lizard sunning himself. I know Harvey heavily damaged the back half which has been closed for a long tone. I cant wait for it to reopen.
Beautiful even in heat of summer in Houston! Daisys, cano, iris, ginger, petunia, water fountains, brick and sand walking paths. Easy to social distance...plenty of wide open outside space.
It was so beautiful and my kids cant wait to go back. Also amazing for pictures
Beautiful garden with different varieties of flowers and plants, do visit if you are nature / plant lover. The garden is well maintained and kept clean.
Very clean and nice trails! Perfect for those with strollers. They do have lots of bees due to all the plants. Easy parking and no fees to get in. Great for photos!
Such a wonderful and beautiful scenery for a date walk...me and my husband had the pleasure of taking our Mr and Mrs pictures there...and they came out perfect....we will definitely be coming back...#highlyrecommended
I volunteer here consistently! It has been such a party! Nice staff and absolutely stunning gardens. It has been such a pleasure to be surrounded by the tall trees and all the flora and fauna. Will always reccomend mercer!!!
This Botanic Garden is well maintained and beautiful. Perfect place to take a walk, read a book or capture some cute pictures for events or just outdoor pictures. Nature is very interesting the garden is full of information about all the plants statues, and much more.Loved it here and is so close to home.
Beautiful, elaborate gardens, each with a different theme. We tired out from walking before ever seeing everything the Mercer botanic gardens have to offer.
Such a beautiful garden! Very picturesque and a popular choice for portraits.I highly advise visiting at opening for photographers. Its the best time to capture all the images before it gets busy. Theres no fee for using tha garden, but a donation is always helpful. There are rules to the garden: no balloons, confetti, bubbles, or large photo equipment.
Great variety of plants along easily walkable trails, both paved and unpaved. The names of most plants are labeled, so you can learn which plants grow well in the Houston area, and how big theyll become. The gardens are directly across the street from the arboretum, which is convenient if you want a longer walk through a natural setting.
Lots of flowers and native plants. Plenty of bees, butterflies and lizards. Ample parking and plenty of relaxed trails to enjoy.
STop! - and smell the Botanic Gardens! Such a beautiful place! From flowers to ferns to Lily pond and more! Free to enter- bring a camera and the whole family! A park across the street makes a great picnic location.
Great variety of plants and flowering plants small.tress and some great picture opportunities here in a wide variety of backgrounds to choose from around their lush gardens. Great family fun and some good educational photo opportunities for every taste. Enjoy this wonderful place!
Amazing botanic garden. Garden areas are well maintained, clean, and enjoyable. The nature walk area and lakes are very scenic. The ponds support a bunch of wildlife. For passengers with a decent layover at IAH looking for something outside the airport to do, this park is a great option if you like parks/gardens and the outdoors.
Extremely well clean and super cool gardens. My whole family loved it.
Mercer Botanica Gardens is a wonderful place. There are several meditation areas and trails. The garden is well maintained with lush plants and trees. It is so pretty many photographers take pictures here. Great place to find your breath. There is also a public library and restrooms in the garden.
Ive bn going here for 2 decades, I love this place. People are super friendly and Kim actually saved me. I needed a voter registration card could not find anywhere, Kim went out of her way to help me!!! She found one!!! Thank you, I did get to post office on x.
Looking beautiful. Lots of new renovations since my last visit. Still working on it but amazing as usual.
This was the most enjoyable stroll by plant lovers. The gentlemen on ground duty were exceptionally helpful with our many questions. Ty
Its nice to have somewhere so close to the house that is completely beautiful. Can take the kids without a mask because social distancing is not a problem.
Beautifully kept grounds. Helpful and honest people work the grounds. I lost my brand new iPhone at the park. The People turned itin and the grounds people were to honest too
Beautiful garden! Great place for a date or just a walk.
There are some areas that need to be fix but flowers are beautiful some were dry.
Mercer Gardens has always been a favorite place for my husband and I to go to walk. We bring out of town guests there too. Now its even better because they have paved all the trails on the more natural side of the park. Now we can walk even if it had rained recently. No more puddles are muddy areas because of the pavement. It is now my favorite place to go walking.
Stayed in car ate lunch nice and peaceful didnt walk today have a knee that gives me trouble. Have walked the trails in the past wonderful experience
Beautiful place for photoshoots! We enjoyed the variety of plants and flowers- with signs too! Benches for relaxing - come here towards the afternoon and enjoy the afternoon breeze. Some dragonflies flying around - my kids enjoyed those! We’ll be back in cooler weather and in spring when flowers bloom!Great picnic area across the street too!
The plant sales at Mercer Botanic Gardens are unmatched by any other nursery in the Houston area. They’ve got thousands of offerings across several different seasons and started offering pick-up and online ordering this year.
This is such a beautiful, peaceful place to walk through. there are so many interesting plants
Such a relaxing way to spend an afternoon! Im glad it has finally gotten cool enough to enjoy the outdoors again.
Beautiful garden in the middle of city. Very well kept. The park across the street offers beautiful paved trails.
We stopped by here for the first time since living in Houston! It was definitely worth the drive from downtown! The gardens were beautiful and so well kept. It was so refreshing and fun to walk around! We did see lots of people there to take pictures and felt a little out of place because we were just there to look around! We also went across the road to the more wooded portion of the gardens! We saw tons of birds, rabbits, and even spooked a deer coming into a meadow! It was wonderfully green and even with people on the paths felt secluded! It was a nice break from the busy city and we will be back!
Loved it! Had a few family photos taken along with my daughters 15th Birthday shoot taken by my Ruby Perez. If your looking for a photographer shes the one! I highly recommend her! You can find her on rubyperez_zenfolio.com/
Am enjoyable set of gardens.
Definitely a Houston area gem. Amazing blooms. Gardens were well kept with great photo spots. Well worth the visit!!
The best place to take beautiful photos! Especially for macro photography. Follow my page on ig, digikai_studios to see some amazing shots I took here. I absolutely LOVE this place! So serene and peaceful. The staff are all very nice also.
Nice mostly shaded trails. Not crowded at all. Well kept. One lap around is about 2.2 miles
Well maintained but many of the plants were dead or dying. I think they are sort in volunteers. Nice spots for taking pics, though.
I love coming here. So peaceful and beautiful surroundings. If you have the chance, go!
Wonderful, as always. Had so many awesome varieties of plants, the topical section was especially exciting to see.
Beautiful spot in Spring. Highly advised for anyone looking for some rest among amazing plants.
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature! Grandkids enjoyed it too.
I have been coming here since before my oldest son was born. He is about to graduate! Will always come back even when I am living out of town. It is the most wonderful place that I know of in this area and for miles around!!!
Little off the beaten path flower garden with beautiful pathways and rock arches and benches absolutely gorgeous
The Mercer Gardens had such beautiful scenery. It was serene to walk through and relaxing for the mind. It was a great location to choose for the prom photography session I captured.
Lovely place to walk around and see nature. Connected to awesome trails.
Love it so much, it’s not so crowded. I can’t wait till they open the back up again! I look forward to it!
Very pretty place in a random side of Houston. Good place for pics or a first date meet up if you’re in the spring area.
Very nice, but I was expecting more. Maybe, because of the pandemic, the garden is not pretty. It looks like its been long time the grass is not cut or the flowers and plants are not taken care of. Still, it worth to go for a walk and connection with the nature
Nature is wonderful, always. Beautiful garden, well maintained and free for all. Recommended for families and nature lovers.
A very beautiful place to visit and just enjoy the rest of the day. Beautiful Nature Garden so highly recommend
A world class botanical garden, my favorite place to go for a nature walk !! The hard work of the gardeners can be seen everywhere in this garden.
This place is beautiful. People use for photography backdrop. I took my boyfriends cousin graduation pictures here.
Such a beautiful place, walk, take pictures and have a nice moment, and is totally free!
Beautiful garden with lots of trails around flower beds, fountains, and ponds. Lovely place to go walk around! The back part of the garden is currently closed (2/2019) due to flood damage, but they are working on fixing it up.The visitor center is closed, not sure for how long, but there are restrooms by the Little Blue Library. The garden is definitely worth a visit! Great photography location!
Gorgeous garden, well tended. Great place to take kids
Love this place its very beautiful and walking the trails gives you tranquility which is one thing that everybody need to restress and energize there body with a clear mind.
This is a beautiful place to visit. They are always changing things around so every time it is different. The walkways and arrangements a so peaceful. I highly recommend it.
Great place! Always well maintained and family friendly. Our children had a great time and loved the craft bag he received.
I am going to give Mercer Botanical Gardens a five because I have been there many many times and it has always been gorgeous. Unfortunately, the flooding from hurricane Harvey took a major toll on the botanical gardens and they are not up to snuff right now. Mercer sits directly next to Spring Creek, which was completely overflowing its banks for several days. I took a great deal of pictures I’m going to post here. These pictures were taken in June 2018. The front portion of the park has already been cleaned up, but it’s the back portion closer to the creek that is still unbelievably damaged. Give it another year, when it’s back up to its normal glory, it will be fantastic!
This place is just amazing. The place is full with flowers, trees. And all kind of natured. Everything is labeled so you know what it is. It’s a great place to distract yourself walk around and just relax.
Theyve done so much to this park! Paved areas for you to walk comfortably. We saw lots of beautiful creatures!
Serene and beautiful tucked inside the hustle & bustle of Harris county. Truly a hidden gem, and the best part - it’s FREE to all. If your looking for a little peace and quiet, a romantic walk, a photo with the family, or just indulging in the exquisite nature that surrounds us everyday, here you can reflect, breathe the fresh air and oxygen our tress provide and take advantage this beautiful gift our community offers. Carefully laid out beds of beauty, exquisite structures, and peaceful paved walkways that take you through this secret garden. A place to put down the phones for an hour or so and relax with nature. I went in December and was still beautiful, I can just imagine it’s spring colors! It was not busy and easy to navigate. Acres of strolling and even has a little library tucked inside! Restrooms found around the compound and maps if needed. Most botany is labeled and the flowers and trees from all over the globe. Very interesting, even some endangered plants are being treasured here. Please relax and enjoy - All the best, Jo
Its a nice green refuge from the city. Lots of paths and walkways to enjoy surrounded by lovely flowers, plants, and ponds. Theres a small above ground koi pond near the entrance, and a little garden area with a bench swing. Its usually quiet but sometimes it can get crowded. Ive seen humming birds, bluejays, squirrels, and butterflies roam the gardens. Its a relaxing place to take a stroll.Across the street from the botanic garden is the picnic area. Its shady but parking near the picnic tables can be limited. And there are jogging paths near the main parking area by the entrance.
Its so beautiful here. I love to enjoy the scenery here while playing pokemon
Love the gardens. Very nice for families and singles.
Very beautiful place! We went on a warm fall day but still plenty of plants to see that are still blooming. Great place to be immersed into nature and learn plants along the way!
I went here many times back in the day with friends for photos and this is such a nice place. Its really rare these days to find a honestly peaceful place that you can just stop, take a moment, and enjoy the little things.
Beautiful gardens with a wonderful atmosphere! A definite must visit for all Houstonians.
I love goi g to the garden. It relaxes me so much. Great mind cleansing.
Great botanic garden. Very relaxing
Great place for walking and enjoying nature. Also for photography and family pictures.
Too nice and lots of beautiful plants . Must visit!
Its really a beautiful place!! With very interesting beautiful flowers!!
Lovely spot, extensive programming for youth, elders, etc. - during typical times.Still, even with some virus-related limitations, this is an oasis of gorgeous horticulture.Walk, jog, relax and breathe in the scented fresh air. During challenging times - seek out these gardens.A+ spot for families.
This is one of my most favorite places for maternity photography sessions! It’s magical and beautiful year-round; you’ll hardly believe you’re in the middle of a busy city because Mercer is so peaceful! My clients love it there too!
Wonderful experience even in the winter with the camelias in full bloom! Though half the greenery was sleeping for winter it was still a beautiful landscape with many wonderful paths to explore.
Mercer Gardens suffered incredible damage during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Because of this, the nature trails are still under re-construction. The park staff have done a nice job with the front gardens, adding new hardscapes. They also host several plant sales throughout the year to support the park. Great place for wedding/graduation pictures. Paved walkways are accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy nature.
Mercer Botanic Gardens is the best In Houston Humble Area if you looking for somewhere to visit with family or taking pictures in Special Occasion come here you will love it
Beautiful nature trails for walking and running. Lots of deer, rabbits woodpeckers.
This place is beautiful!! We went there with family and it is an awesome botanical garden. Theyre still adding to it so itll be bigger soon. Different kind of trees from different parts of the world!! The smell of the fresh flowers was amazing!! It was nice a quiet and good place to go relax and take in nature! We sent pictures to other friends and now they want to go see. Well be making plans in the near future to return with them!!
