The Sunday 11 a.m. service meets my spiritual needs through song, liturgy, and the message. The open table of communion is welcoming for all to receive Christs gifts of bread and wine that represent his sacrifice of love for us. The churchs stained glass windows remind you of Christs journey to the cross, all for loving us.
Best most amazing Chruch Ever ♡♡♡♡
Such a beautiful historical church and the Treebeards offered at lunch is always amazing.
Christ Church Cathedral offers a variety of services and activities in beautiful buildings that are peaceful environments. You really feel the presence of God there. Im not Episcopalian myself but its such a welcoming environment that I had no problem fitting in and feeling welcomed.
Amazing music and inspiring preaching. Proclaiming God in the midst of the city.
Ok, I’m biased. But this church and dean Thompson make my life so much fuller. I choose rite 1. The service is almost high mass, minus the incense (except on high holidays.). The history of the church is fantastic. Their outreach work, with the Beacon and many other programs, shows the city that prosperity gospel is trumped by doing what Jesus says, loving and caring for people.
Went to a Celtic Service which was nice and interesting. Beautiful Cathedral. This was the second time that I worshiped at Christ Cathedral. My Cousins was a Priest on Staff there.
There is a cafeteria there that is open at lunch. The Cajun food is why people show up there for lunch. I love the red beans & rice with sausage & their brownies for a great lunch. They also have great salads.
Its the best Treebeards of the bunch. Food is the same but very relaxed atmosphere.
Visited bookstore of the Cathedral. Lots of high quality used books on theology and other subjects
It was and experience and not just a visit. I stopped by the restaurant there on site first. I had a wonderful lunch with everything being served was prepared from scratch. The restaurant was very clean. All of the employees was very friendly, the service was great and the food was delicious. FreeBeards is the name of the restaurant. Its open Mondays - Fridays from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. one can find the menu online and become suprised with all the items served. Certain food items are served on certain days of the week. Fresh vegetables and soups and so much more daily, not to mention the choices of desserts. Simply remarkable! After lunch I ventured over to the receptionist area. There I met Miss Lisa, such a wonderful lady being the perfect person for the position. Seemingly shes worth her weight in gold. ($ hint hint $)Her personality and character appears to be second to none. Lisa is very knowledgeable and responds to most questions one would have in regards of staff are the historic cathedral. This church has been on the same site since 1939, making it the oldest church building and congregation in the city of Houston. This church serves the community in so many ways with different programs and operations. Perhaps the most widely known is The Beacon which provides live changing services to those in need and the homeless.Last I was being inquisitive about the history of the facility, so therefore, one of the priests gave me a partial tour of the campus. Each day after the weekdays morning services a tour guide comes out in the courtyard to meet those individuals desiring to tour the property. Stop by if for nothing else,...get the educational knowledge. However, the churchs doors are open to everyone. There are weekday services and several Sunday morning services.Dont worry about the football games. You will have time after church services to enjoy. There a reason for both NFL Texas Teams playing in stadiums with retractable roofs. They are retractable so God can watch his favorite football teams after church on Sunday afternoons!
The best etouffe in town. All they cook is very good, and the desserts delicious especially the bread pudding. I go with coworkers during our lunch break. I recommend it.
Absolutely beautiful church. Oldest church in Houston. Beautifully preserved.

We came from England to attend a wedding. We were impressed by the formal, yet relaxed tone of the ceremony and the outstanding contribution of the cathedral choir.

This place does a few services for the homeless. Im able to donate clothes, and canned goods. Security plays no games. Staff is friendly and patient. The cleanliness of the area is satisfactory

Beautiful, old Episcopal church, with lovely stained glass windows and gothic wood interior, in central business district downtown Houston. Currently under renovation. Many outreach ministries, including AA and homeless support. Parking garage nearby. Also has Treebeards cafe for delicious lunches with southern, creole flair.
