Service is awesome even when they are busy. The staff was helpful and kind. Atmosphere and food reminds me of Virginia Beach.
I love this place always quality food & service. Ill return with my friends. The bill was fair I would say.
I came here when it was totally dead and nobody was there. It was so nice and relaxing. Had a few shiners by the fire and a really decent burger from a dude who set up with a grill in the front. Love the aesthetic but I love the cleanliness even more. Ill have to go back there again soon.
The only time I went to this place was last year’s Halloween. The scene was dull, not many people, they don’t have a lot of space. It feels cramped inside. I don’t know how good their drinks are but me and my friends only went in for 5 mins and left the place because it didn’t look like too much fun. But that was one time. I might give it another try and see if my opinion changes.
Not sure what happened but this bar has made a comeback in the last several years. I havent gone in many moons but I have gone twice recently and it has been loads of fun. Good place to kick things off!
Service was great, and drinks were good, but as we left for the night I was stopped rather aggressively because I was trying to take a water out of the bar. I understand the reasoning for not allowing drinks outside of course, but the way in which I was grabbed by the doorman was what I had a problem with. They shouldnt be putting hands on people, I would have politely threw it away if asked. It should have been clear that it wasnt alcohol as there is no clear liquor that the bar would be able to distribute in full cup sizes anyway.
The best place to party on midtown, better than skybar and 77 degrees.
Awesome service from the bartenders. Highly recommend this place if you visit downtown
Its fun, but a little too packed. They could benefit from making their capacity about 10-15% less. There is barely room to dance. Wheel idea is cool but shots are very overpriced, even for the area. Worth checking out, but there are better options in the area
Music is awesome and our bartender the best in Houston. Brown hair dimples fit and very nice was working door bar. Cant recall her name but will be back and only looking for her
It was very nice place to hang out and have a few drinks
This is a great spot to start the night out with friends in midtown. You can also spin the wheel for any specialty shots to help celebrate the night. Music is good and the place has a small seating area as well as an upstairs area. When it gets crowded at the bar you can also get drinks at the small express bar to the left of the entrance.
Staff was terrific, DJ was excellent & they have a giant spin wheel full of different shots to try. Had a fun time & great crowd. 5 out 5 - would recommend over and over again. Bring your out of town guest here. Plenty of other places with in walking distance
Ridiculously expensive. I don’t normally write reviews but this was insane. First time going there last night. Decided to get 4 shots for myself and friends... $48!!! Like are you kidding me?! For 4 shots! It wasn’t even high end alcohol it was just one of those flavored shots. There needs to be a sign that tells us we need to take out a loan to drink here... Definitely won’t go back
I was told to leave for no reason, for a second I thought I was being treated a poorly because of the color of my skin...from the moment I stepped on the property but I see from the reviews this bar just has horrific customer service...it was incredibly packed and a guy asked me to tap the bartender for him and tell her he wants to order 3 shots so I politely did so for the gentleman but the bartender got it confused and accused me of trying to steal and I tried to defuse the misunderstanding by politely telling her the guy asked for it to be on his tab, she then accused me of yelling at her in a loud packed bar and I was like “oh no, i don’t want any trouble...I’m partially deaf and am epileptic so I can’t hear, nor can I control my tone being that I can’t hear well” she then says “You have to leave” I tell her no problem because I was being mistreated with my disability and it felt like because of the color of my skin...as I was leaving the big door guy who was already rude to my boyfriend and I when we first arrived because my boyfriend had on his hood over his head because it was so cold outside, made him take off his coat in order for us to enter, came to me as I was already leaving trying to grab me to escort me out but I politely told him I am already leaving and my boyfriend stepped between him and I so he wouldn’t touch me....I walk out and automatically walk up to the police attendants that were on standby to make sure of my safety and ask for advice and assistance because I didn’t feel safe and was definitely mistreated...I do not suggest anyone of color to go to this bar...go across the street to dogwood where the customer service is way better and there is more floor space.
This is one of the best bars in Houston period. The drinks, music & women are all top shelf... the restroom situation is a little tricky but manageable. My go to bar on Fridays & Saturdays havent had a bad time yet.
This Place had too Much Glamor and Did not feel At all comfortable.
One of the few places that I still enjoy in Midtown. Fun atmosphere, good bartenders. Music is more edm and dance than rap.
Went on a Friday night, bar was dead which doesn’t surprise me after getting refused service for no reason. Wanted to order a birthday cake shot for my birthday and they said “I don’t feel comfortable serving you” I heard about this place being racist and now I see why. Unless your white and in a frat or sorority don’t go here.
This place is great. They always have great music playing. Drinks are a little expensive and it gets super crowded but the atmosphere is great and music is always great.
Once upon a time when Shot Bar had just opened, it as pretty hard for minorities (or dudes in general) to get in. But the past year or so, theres been no issue.Always a good time inside Shot Bar but it does get packed and ordering a drink from the main bar might present a challenge. I encourage you to just order from the bar by the entrance. It might look packed, but the line moves much faster.
Not quite sure why there has been such low ratings for this place, this place is pretty great. You have reasonable prices for shots. There are varieties and its a lot of fun when you get to spin the wheel! theres an upstairs and downstairs, the music is pretty decent. Lots of r&b and hip-hop, throwing it back to old School too. after drinking so many shots you would think that you need something to eat right? Say no more, a snack bar is right by the stairs! The snacks are basically Chex mix! Maybe a little on the stale side but hey, you are drunk and you dont care. You can grab a cup and eat snacks as you sober up for more shots! The bartenders are so sweet, very attentive and considerate. When I say that its because I had no idea what to try and he made something up for me and I absolutely enjoyed it! The location is great, right next to food trucks and right across from 360. I would definitely come here for one of the bar hops.
Its a shot bar with a wheel that they can spin for you if you want a random shot. This is a place I stopped at when visiting with some friends. I would imagine it is fun for younger drinkers who like loud bars, but unfortunately I am not in the target demographic anymore. That being said, if I was in my early 20s again, add a star.
Bartender refused to serve me for no reason at all. I stood at the bar for a good 5 minutes because the female bartenders were only attending to men. They kept looking right at me as if they were going to serve. But whenever a man came to the bar they went directly to the guys. I finally ordered a drink for my friend and I, and a guy next to us wanted to order us another round and himself a drink. He handed the bartender his card, and asked the lady did she get our drinks on the charge too. The lady looks at us and said Im not serving them! The guy apologized to me for what the bartender said. I dont know if she was a racist. Or she doesnt like women and was jealous. She refused service for no reason. Im baffled by it. I will never go back to the Shot Bar. Ill stick to the Doghouse and Sage County
Good vibes! Just a long wait for drinks at the main bar. There’s a smaller bar right when you come in, that you’ll probably miss! Not many people go and order drinks there
If you like cramped, crowded bars, with all sorts of characters, this is the place for you. Cool spot.
Really enjoy going to the shot bar! You have the option to spin the wheel to determine what youre getting next. The place is normally crowded, but not too much that its not fun. Dancing upstairs is on a different level, but be prepared to spend some $$$.
Was in Saturday night. I stayed in line to meet my fiancee, and friends. Once I got in, immediately when I see them by the door they were turned away. I asked the cops and door attendant what was going on, I was told my friends didnt pay their tab. I just wanted to know exactly what the case was because they have proof of purchases on their bank records. The guy who I guess was the manager with the man bun and handle bar mustache hid behind the cops as I was trying to figure out what was going on since I just arrived. He had the nerve to say that, Im the sober one so I know whats going on. Thats your party you was with them the whole time. I just walked in!!! Check you security cameras!!! All he had to do was talk to me like he had some sense. I did not drink at all as I was the DD. Scared of the big black guy who had some sense, so he wanted to sick the cops on me (cliche). If anyone knows the manager or owner of this place, they need to brought up to speed on how their employees treat people.
Rude, very rude people they are. I was visiting Houston on business travel and went to this place on Saturday night. They asked us to show passport for ID. Since we were not carrying passport with us, they didnt allow us IN. They did not consider government ID that we had from our country. Basically passport is not mandatory for an ID. But these guys are probably just rude. There are bunch of many other great pubs around in this area n we did pub hopping with few other pubs which allowed us entry against our local IDs.
This place always has a huge line on the weekends, but the place is unique with their “spin the wheel” to decide what kind of shot you will be drinking. I would not personally wait outside for 30-45 mins in a line to enter this place. It’s not that special, but still a fun time.
Love this bar. If you feeling little crazy spin the wheel to order a shot. Always over crowded, amazing DJ most weekends
Don’t come here. They won’t let you in if you’re wearing Jordan’s. So to translate this means they don’t want minority’s at their establishment.
Wow is all I can say. I was a visitor from southern Virginia and because of my ethinicity, my form of dress, and my belief system, I was denied entry into Shot Bar. I am extremely disappointed in the discrimination and prejudice of this business, and the illegal actions taken by this small business to deny me because of my appearance.
This place is pretty cool it gets really packed though but great crowd and great music
Place is small but the music is good. If you dont know what kind of shot to take, just walk up to the bar and tell them to spin the wheel. No cover fee.
Go here if you are in a group and want to be split up. Make you wait at the door then deny entry. Last time I was there people were smoking weed on the second floor. Good luck. Just my experience. Beware of the rent a cop staff. They are power tripping a**holes
Fun, wheel was a fun mix to things mid town in general is expensive but good shots, wait staff was great
My favorite bar in Midtown!Ask for Lenae and have her make you a red velvet cake shot! The music is always on point and the drinks are delicious!
Small place with a good mix of music. good music brings large crowds and that place is small
I been coming here for years and everything is great shots are awesome . If you strive between 10:45-11:00 kamikaze shots are $1
Dress shoes? Really? This bar isnt high class enough to have dress shoes. If i am going to go out in a dress attire Ill hit up better places than this.
One of the Best bars in Midtown area PERIOD!! best Variety of music from real hip hop, dance, reggaetone, dancehall, pop..old school and Im talking all in one night .. great drinks .. best drinks and strongest are in the front bar .. the bar with the wheel i feel they are not that strong .. but the space is like a hole in the wall but great environment EVERYONE dancing ... letting loose.. nice ladies great spot
Always packed ps watch your wallet
Great spot on a weekend after midnight. The music is good and drink prices are OK. However it gets extremely crowded, can barely move around and there is almost no sitting space other than the 2 or 3 vip areas. Has a second story dance floor looking down on the main floor bar area.
Always fun to spin the wheel and take your chances on a shot! Usually good music to dance to. Does get extremely crowded!
Shot Bar can be a fun place to go on the weekends. I usually end up there because Im in midtown and want to dance and unfortunately their 10x10ft room upstairs is the only place to go that isnt Red Door. They play a lot of what I would call middle school dance music aka little john and ying yang twins and other pop music from the 00s. Its fun to watch everyone dance awkwardly.Their drinks arent bad either and I like the creative shots.
Litttttyy! I love this place! My friends and I wanted to go some where we didnt have to pay to get in but we still wanted to dance like were in the club and this place is perfect! I love the atmosphere! I would definitely come here again!
Fun place, koo area, nice people
Why is roofie an option on your wheel? Date rape drugs are not even remotely funny or clever. Id hope you guys change it to promote a safe atmosphere, particularly for your patrons that are sexual assault survivors. An otherwise great bar is tainted with a rape joke.
Super crowded but still loads of fun!!! I love dancing behind the booth lol
Its okay. Your time would probably be better spent elsewhere. Be prepared to be refused drinks if you dont tip the bartenders an arm and a leg. I tipped 20% and apparently that wasnt good enough so the lady bartenders decided they would cut me off for it. Not very smart. I would assume a business would want the business and not refuse someone because you think you deserve more. Not a very professional place.
Its in the name. If you want some creative shots or drinks, youre in the right place. Pretty fun environment overall
Awesome shot bar with an awesome setup. Kinda wheel roulette deals. Great music and atmosphere. Its kinda small bit it works!
Easily one of the worst bars I have ever been to. Its expensive, crowded, and pretentious. But what would be expected from a bar in a strip center in Midtown. They alter their dress code based on the lines though. If its crowded, you better have a button down and dress shoes on. If its a quieter night, then they dont care what you wear. So its difficult to plan for. They also have a VIP line (aka friends of the bar) who cut the line while everyone else waits a while to get in. Overall, there are better places to go that actually appreciate your business. The whole shot wheel is fun though.
This place is really fun, has great music and drinks. Only thing is if you do not like crowded places, dont go in. It is always packed where you have to push to get where you want to go.
Really crowd and good music. Shots are more juice than alcohol but you better be early to catch a good spot
Lots of shots and were able to get a bunch in for the 1 dollar kaze shots from 10:45p -11p. My favorite is the root beer float!
Good drinks. DJ upstairs gives out free shots every now and then. Always packed on weekends!
Wonderful shot ambiance and music, loved it thoroughly
Atmosphere is nice, music is good. But its too packed all the time, you have to wait long to get inside, or to get your drink.
Do not go here. Seriously this place sucks. Small, cramped, dirty, music sucks, and they like to openly practice racism (Im a white female so I got in fine but my Asian girl friend was denied while a crowd of white guys in non-dress code apparel got in right in front of her) . Also dont wear open shoes because they dont clean and you will probably end up with a bloody foot from glass shards. The staff is also incredibly rude and unprofessional. Go to Dogwood and enjoy an actual Midtown bar, not this trashy shithole.
This place can be okay sometimes. If its not too packed, I dont mind going here. The bartenders are suuuper attractive. They could use a second bar upstairs too. Spinning the wheel for a shot is a good idea. It solves the problem of not knowing what kind of drink to get.
Almost impossible to get a drink but good vibing
They have a variety of Music a nice crowd and very nice. DJ was on point. But too crowded
Lets get it started kind of bar very fun
If you like creative shots and spinning the wheel this is the place. Always a DJ upstairs, and bar is always filled with so many people it is impossible to walk anywhere.
I went on Tuesday it was dope lol good music nice bartender and great atmosphere
Such a fun bar! Very small though
Love the shots here and we usually go for the music!!! They usually play throwback music to where the whole bar is singing along out loud!
I tried to go in four times with polo boots i was dressed nice but i was WWM ( walking while mexican) so i was not allowed to enter the establishment that smelled like ass from the door
Nice place to take a date. Make sure to take dress shoes lol
Came visiting from a different country and the short white ass face in the entrance, didnt let me in because my ID wasnt in English. This place is a joke
Prior to going to this bar I looked at the dress code online which stated casual . I assumed it would be ok if i wore tennishoes. I was ONE OF THE VERY FEW AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES there and the bouncer told me you cant wear tennishoes . I then pointed out other people he had let in who were currently wearing tennishoes which was the majority of people there . He then proceeded to tell me that I have Jordans on and thats why he cant let me in . Then to make things worse the bouncer on the VIP side said we let people who are our friends in that are wearing tennishoes, not you. . . I have been up all night wondering if it was my race that led them to treat me like this or was it truly cause I had the wrong brand of shoes on . Either way, I was treated unfairly and unequally . I left without making a scene but I feel disgusted by how they conducted business. If they have a dress code it should be applied to everyone.
Fun but crowded. Pretty small venue.
Making a complaint The little short bouncer named travis who discriminates and feels so good to have authority of who goes in and doesnt. We were out as a family and did not let my husband in because he was wearing adidas yet let my sister in law in with hers and everyone else who had tennis shoes. I do not see on the website the exclusions of brands or if a certain gender should wear adidas. I work with customers all day long and if I treated someone that way I would be fired. This establishment is another Gas Lamp in the making I hope their business goes under, thankfully we went Sage County with no issues and had a memorable time. I will make sure to have my whole family write a bad review of this place. I hope whoever own this place knows what kind of business hes running and if he does then it wont last too long.
Music was good but when I went to buy 15 shots for my party, got completely ignored cuz Im a female such bad business. She even served the guy thatd just gotten there when Id been waiting 15 min. Our party of 15 left
Great weekend hangout. Be prepared for crowds!
Of all the bars in Houston, I cant understand why this one is so popular. The drinks are wildly overpriced, the service is horrible, and the atmosphere is okay at best. Queuing up and waiting to get inside is ludicrous. Go anywhere else, seriously.
When you get there early during the night, its pretty empty. Once you get there towards the peak of the night, it is crowded, can barely get to the bar, and is very loud!
Gets Packed But Fun !
No neck tattoos allowed... I have a breast cancer logo on my neck and they wouldnt let me in... Wow...
Great place if youre in the mood for hyped shots at hyped prices and an overdose on stereotypical midtown crowds. Bad place if youre in the mood for a good drink and a place to sit.
Very young crowd, cheap shots. Also, mind the dress code if youre not white.
Great place and nice staff!
Ive never experienced a more racist filled establishment such as Shot Bar. 4th of July weekend a group of 4 good looking 20 year old women and a well dressed good looking male decided to venture to Shot Bar. The door man (white male) asked one of the ladies How many in your group?. She replied 5. He then carded all the ladies then the gentleman. He told the young man that his sneakers were not allowed in. Mind you the young man was wearing a starched button up shirt, dockers kacki pants and brand new Lebron 9 sneakers. The shoes were not bulky, flashy or ghetto. They matched his attire and complemented his outfit nicely. At the same time as the bouncer denied the young man, a pair of white males both wearing american flag muscle shirts, head bands and black house shoes/slippers walked out beligerant hollering foul language at the patrons. The group of women and the young male were shocked that Shot Bar allows this type of disappointment happen. The group of four ladies and single man were hispanic. After seeing the american flag boys walk out, it was extremely obvious that this business was racist towards anyone NOT WHITE. Read the other comments on here. Its obvious. Do not go to Shot Bar unless youre white.
Extremely racist establishment, please skip this place. Our friend from Brazil was denied entry for NO REASON. Tested the theory during three different days!It is secretly a white only bar where hateful rednecks meet under the pre-text of dresscode (although I beg to differ having witnessed them leaving in shorts and flip flops). For the white friends who made it inside they say the inside of the bar is dirty and there is nothing classy about this place.
I went around 10.30ish which is a decent time to go since this place gets packed. we didnt wait in line at all. i have not experienced the treatment as the comments below. i think it maybe the bouncers and how they feel towards you. i am not white, i am indian and i got in with my group of friends. we were a mixed group, but one time i did go with a bunch of brown ppl and they still let us in. one time we were waiting in line and a bunch of white girls were trying to skip the line, everyone in the line was like yooo! back up and wait in line like everyone else(and some of these ppl were white). the bouncer did stop them and let us in first. but i can fully understand how the comments below are true. i have experienced this inside of the bar, but never really been denied. all the guys in our group know that sneakers are never OK in a bar/lounge. so when we all go out we are make sure that the guys dress up. its always safe to over dress than to underdress. if your colored and underdress they will think of something to deny you entrance. if your dress up they wont have anything to say other than bar is full.
The place always packed on the weekends but I think its little pricey
Fun lively atmosphere
Great place to get shots.
Great bar for hanging out and partying
DJ was amazing!!!!
Lots of fun but can get overly packed
The shots r not great
