This is Etros second location. Two things that make it difficult and annoying is the location with its parking and the bartenders. It seems to have carried over its previous errors.Best part about Etro us the music and the crowd. Their 80s night is their nights. It could feel welcoming but it doesnt always feel that way. Amongst friends, its fun the dance and hang out at. Their outside section is a drag and too small.I still enjoy attending because I feel comfortable and enjoy the music.
Old less than average looking lady who works as a bartendess at the far left from where you walk in lied about not having water cups and that she had to charge me for water. Seconds later there was another bartender who gave me two cups of water right next to her; she thus attempted to tell him not to give me water. On weekends prior to this last Saturday her attitude towards customers are that of a nagging old lady waiting to die. Stay away from her.
The atmosphere is super nice and they even have arcade games. The only thing that ruins the experience is the bartenders. They seem super annoyed and seem to hate their jobs. It really kills the urge to buy any more drinks. If you avoid the bar, then this place is great
Great music, great people...Had a blast!!!!!
The best nightclub in the town.
Was old school very nice will always go for the rest of my life
Fun place for pop 80s/commercial new wave. Small dance floor, but hey its free.
This is a great place to go to dance your socks off to a fantastic selection of 80s and 90s hits. The crowd is always fun and very relaxed and the outdoor patio is a great place to catch your breath and conversate. The door guy always has a joke and is pretty helpful with telling you where not to park if you want your car there when you get done partying.
Been wanting to hit this bar up for some time. Finally did and was not disappointed at all. Place has two levels and a big dance floor. The music selection is definitely on point with it being an 80’s themed place. The drink prices for a downtown bar are a steal! Nothing but great vibes and a chance to have fun dancing the night away w/your current friends and chances to make new friends!
I go on Tuesdays, because that is the only place in Houston where I can listen to underground house music from local DJs like Ken Gray and his guest DJs. It is called Filling The Void, I like it a lot. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the bar tender and wait staff are excellent people. The crowd is an older mature crowd which I prefer.
Nice place to hang out with friends, have a few drinks, and forget your troubles. Lots of cute girls too.
80’s and 90’s music, very nice staff and environment,
Want 80s music with the videos of the time to dance to? Then you have come to the right place. The crowd is a tad older than your average crowd, which makes this less of a typical club, and more of a unique stop. Its located in between a few bars, which makes it a perfect stop over in between bar hops, despite not being a bar, making it a great alternative.
This Bar is the bom dot com! Definitely will be coming back I had so much fun and the people were incredibly friendly
80s music at it finest. People here are always friendly. I can only go once a month because i live so far away. I uber here because the first time I went my car was towed. I recommend paying cash for drinks as you go cause i believe i was charged more than what i drank on my tab. Was with a group of friends
Great time! Sang all the words to every song and never sat down, danced my butt off! Great for a fun date night or a girls night out.
Dance floors up & downstairs were a bit tiny but makes it cozy and brings 80s music fans & dancers closer. DJ Inertia really put on a great mix all night with his Duran Duran set. The outdoor patio lounge was great for taking a break from all the dancing and for when you want to have a conversation with friends & random strangers! Great place to just dance and not worry about how bad your dancing is. Another drink helps with that. Luckily, Friday nights all 3 bars are open; upstairs, downstairs, & patio.
The music and videos take me back to when I was in high school. Everyone there is ready to party and have a good time. Drinks are reasonably priced. Place is somewhat small, but it makes it feel cozy... Finding a parking space may be a problem.
Great upgrade for the beloved Montrose dancing spot, big spacious lofty home, and good old tunes.
They were supposed to open the dance floor at 9pm. We were daytime bar hopping and looking for a place to dance after sunset. After waiting for it to open, ten minutes into 9... they told us it would be another 20 minutes! Why do they say that they open at 9 but really dont? Why dont they just put it at 9:30? We left, so we didnt see inside or even try a drink.
I went their for St. Patricks day and didnt have a good time. Their dj is horrible. Doesnt know how to talk to guest when they approach him. Claims he doesnt have a large selection of music. So I learned just because it says etro doesnt mean they play 80s / early 90s music. Lessoned learned.
First time to visit the new ETRO, and it was absolutely the funnest date night EVER for my husband and I. We jammed the night away to the best 80s music, the crowd was mostly over 30, the drinks were pretty stout, so I definitely got moneys worth. $50 tab and lots of fun, not too bad!
This DJ needs to be replaced ASAP. Just because songs have drums in it doesnt mean they are good for dancing. Common, where is Duran Duran (Rio, Come Undone), Simple Mind, C&C Music Factory... ? WTH, everything played is of the same beat. Mostly cheese stuff. Stay at home and dance to your own selection.
Love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love the 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s 80s.Etro is cool hang out for 80s and 90s. Very unassuming place and the patrons are not pretentious, despite it being an 80s theme. Bah hahaha!Go there, dont think about it anymore. Go.
Place is great if you love 80’s music. Staff is always friendly and it’s never over crowded.
Love what they did with this place just like the old place but better will be coming back
First timer, friend and I had a blast the music was on point 80s with background video. Never got off the dance floor, the drinks were great and the staff was friendly. This is one of my favorite spots in htown...
I liked the old location, music still good it just lost the magic.... same music, the best of 80’s
Nice place with retro feel & music!
I was originally very proud and excited to hear that Etro was moving to Downtown, in the hopes of remaining an iconic Houston 80’s establishment and keeping the Montrose spirit of acceptance and inclusivity alive and well. Come to find out, I was unable to partake in the experience due to an outrageous and arbitrary 24 & Up policy for their clientele. This entirely unacceptable and disappointing to the many of us who have been patrons of Etro for years. I hope that they can reform this policy and restore their inclusive nature.
Nasty staff. Go somewhere if want to be treated as a customer. Bartenders are rude!
Etro has been around forever, and its always a good time when you go visit Etro. Especially when they do their 80s night! But Im biased since I love 80s night.Drinks are good and affordable. The dance floor is tiny but enough to dance your heart out. Parking sucks just because of the area in general.
Went for my first time last weekend with some friends. Its a nice little bar in Montrose. The drinks arent too cheap but the bartender is super cool and I love the music. They were playing House music at the time I went. It was a nice time out during the week.
I really like Etro because of the music, the crowd, and bouncers! The bouncers at Etro are just fun loving people. The crowd is usually a mix of older partiers, younger parties, hipsters, and anyone looking to have a good time! I feel like Etro is a place for anyone! The music is techno, 80s, pop mix which makes it very fun. Youll find people doing fun dances on the dance floor! I think this is different kind of club/bar where anyone is guaranteed to have fun
Always fun. Fun music. Chill vibe. Never a cover. Great place.
Good music!! Different. All kinds of people!! Nice lounge upstairs
Great music. No AC and small. Wondering what the new location is like.
One of the best 70s/80s bar. Everytime Ive gone it hasnt been too crowded, just perfect. The music is the main reason to go!
Great place, lots of happy peoples, young and old. Every body dance
The best place to hear and Dance to the best 80s music not that crap you get at that other place in Mid town.. Great bartenders.. Great crowd and the DJs are the best...
Loved the new location, crowd, environment and real cool bartenders....
Great layout and crowd. But they didnt really play dance music, even for the 80s. Also the bartenders take forever and can be unnecessarily dismissive.
This place is great if youre into 80s music. Its super chill great atmosphere!
Dance floor area is mad small. The 80s night was cool
Last week at this location. Moving onto a new place! Lets hope thats its both the same and better!
I would call this a mini club, there is no cover charge but they do valet if you want. The interior has a small dance floor, the upstairs is nice if you want to chill and sit with someone; its more open and relaxed. While the down stairs is either packed or not. The Times ive gone its either a hit or miss for me, as when its packed its packed and getting a drink can be a long wait... Aside from that they have a nice patio on the outside that covered so you can chill and watch people come by as well.
Good People, Great Club
Cool environment. Nice people. 80s club
Stopped in Saturday evening, on a whim, and the place was packed. Awesome music, great atmosphere and beautiful people. The upstairs was chill and good drinks all around. Will be going back for sure!
The place to be other than #s if you want to hear 80s dance music.
Awesome music, great drinks. Dance floor is small and the place is hot when it gets crowded. Overall had a great time!
Good crowd. Perfect place for people of 30s and 40s.
Quality 80s alternative dance music in a small, tucked-away space behind Anvil. Always a great time!
80s 80s 80s! Great place..cool people.
Used to be a great bar in Montrose, but now they have enacted a very discriminatory age restriction. I’ve been going to etro with friends for years, spent New Years there the last two years, and this is what the bar gives us back in return.Once a staple of the Houston bar scene, now just another lame downtown nightclub.
How old do.you have to.be to enter? IM 20 AND MY NESTFRIEND IS 21 ...WE LOVE 80S MUSIC. LOL
Good place for 80s music and dance floor
Horrible music! Definitely not 80’s type! Awesome drinks though!
Average music, upscale people pretending they can dance
Enjoyed going as always. Had a great time!
Good 80s music but older crowd
Super nice and the bartenders rock
Great vibe. Awesome place to get your 80s game on.
Step right back into the 80s at this lovely Montrose staple! Patio, upstairs, dance floor, 80s movies and videos, yesss, soak it all in.
Way too busy. Couldn’t even move!
Music was great and dancing was a lot of fun. The place is a bit small so it can get crowded.
The beverages right here are average flavor and fair price I suppose. If you look for an area for dancing then here is one.
Whether its empty or packed, I always have fun!!
Fun little 80s theme place. Pretty good drinks with some unusual people there.
Cool place to listen to the 80s music.
Fantastic staff and wonderful owner! The place to be for 80s in Houston.
Absolutely terrible experience. the bouncer was a dick and wouldnt let me bring in my laptop and called me a terrorist, they double charged my drinks, and the sound system sucks. i will never go here again.
Love this club. Friendly live people
Great staff. Best eighties music ever (except for my music which is okay b/c my musical taste is better than everyones; especially yours) Just awesome place and people, cant go wrong here.
Place was ok only bc of music, however the mixed drinks are very weak. They serve you bottom shelf vodka and charge you for Titos. Told the bartender bout the weak drink and didnt care. I guess they dont care to have customers come back. Because of that i wont come back. Plenty of other places to buy drinks. Oh, they dont sell shots so forget it!!
Like a new wave ( rather then industrial ) version of Numbers ... Do head warnings about parking though ...
Nice bar, went with a friend for an event. Love the free arcade they have
Fun Montrose dance spot.Known for 80s dance music.
Dance floor a little tight, but they played awesome music...bartenders were quick & poured nicely!
A great mix of 80s mainstream classics with a middle class crowd ages late 20s to early 40s. The bar has limited beer but decent prices on drinks and even has Woodford Reserve.
As a former Austinite, I am comforted to know that we have fun 80s music lounges in the Montrose area! I am not a big fan of electronic, techno but it is something I can appreciate. The bouncer is extremely friendly and loving life. The dance floor a bit tiny but its a great place. Friendly people for the most part. Bartenders could be a tad nicer but maybe it was an off night... You do not have to worry about bros that come to bars to pick up chicks. The drinks are reasonable so drinks, be merry and dance the night away.
Always a fun crowd, laid back staff, love the bouncer out front! One of the best places in montrose
My favorite spot in Houston, love the Retro 80 tunes!!!
Pretty cool adult atmosphere, great 80s music, the drinks are just okay
Usually pretty good for Friday and Saturday, nice 80s theme.
Good for shots, not for cocktails. Mixed crowd can get weird. Close to a lot of better bars.
Great late night 80s tunes
Had a great time celebrating my friends 39th birthday this past Saturday! None of us had ever been to the club, but we heard great reviews. LOVE the music, videos shown for each song, DJ took requests, bartenders were very accomodating, great outside area, cant say enough good things about the experience. Videos like New Order, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Book of Love, Madonna, Psychedelic Furs, Depeche Mode, Erasure MADE OUR NIGHT! I dont go clubbing like I used to, but I highly recommend this club to anyone who loves the 80s!
There will always be haters out there... if one is nice to their bartender and wants to have a good time then etro will deliver!
Love coming here place is real chill
Do not leave any valuables for the valet. Sunglasses were stolen when we valeted last Saturday. :/
So disappointing that they changed their entry to 24+. We were excellent customers and huge fans.
Excited to check out the new location!!
