Went to watch Murder on the Orient Express. My favourite theatre in Honolulu. Had seats at the back but it is small enough that I could enjoy the performance perfectly. There is headphones for the difficult of hearing. The performance was excellent. Very well done and the stage props were very creative and really made it feel like I was there. Highly impressive for a small theatre.Only negative is not a huge selection of snacks but there are some drinks. I dont think anyone goes to the theatre for the snacks though. Will be going again soon!

Beehive - Diamond Head TheatreWow!!! I have to bring my mother to watch this show. I can guarantee that you will know 95% of the songs in this feature. All classic 1960s music with a very well done narrative of the life of Women in the 60s... through music. The start of the show felt a bit slow. Ok, I was at the preview, but i think it felt a little rough because the audience didn’t know how to respond. “Pulling Teeth” is how could better describe it but Artistic Director John Rampage did tell the audience that the performers were ready for the audience to play along. As the songs started, I was bobbing my head, tapping my feet, and clapping my hands. My first cheer came when “You Can’t Hurry Love” came on... still one of my favorite songs ever. My first tear (yes, I will admit that I cry during awesome moments) came on “Will You Still Love Me” as they did it with so much affection. My heart jumped on “Where The Boys Are” because I know Connie Francis is one of my mother’s favorite artists. My “A-Ha” moment came when “Abraham, Martin, & John.” The whole company on stage with beautiful harmony touching on some of the most significant events in the 60s and the whole history of the U.S.A. At this point I was sold.Make time the time to get to Diamond Head Theater and watch Beehive. If you do, the final act about Woodstock, which I purposely left out, will let you know that this show is worth the price of the ticket!

Just attended February 2020 production of Murder on the Orient Express. Terrific cast with Theo Columbus as the lead. Loved his rendition of the iconic Poirot for the refreshing comedic version. Wonderful venue too.

Older theatre, but the performance of Kinky Boots was top tier. Would have been nice to bring in wine. 8 dollars a plastic cup is pricey by any measure. The pour was okay, but, $$$. Willing to support local theatre, so I drank it up.

A first-rate community theater. We have enjoyed two shows here and can’t wait to see another! Parking is particularly easy with a large lot right next door and there are world class dining options like Town under a mile away. Basically a date night waiting to happen!

We attended the production of Holiday Inn and truly enjoyed our evening in the theatre.  This is a nice, older, but cozy place to see quality theater production.  Seats are a bit older and closer than expected, and air conditioning was definitely lacking, but plenty of free parking immediately across the street, I dont think theres a bad seat in the house, and they take their art very seriously - truly a top rate production.  During intermission they open the side doors to let in some cool air - a very welcome relief to cool off and stretch my legs.  Well come back, but be a bit more strategic on seat selection.

This review is specifically geared toward their Music Theater Education class for Homeschool kids. Its fantastic that they offer the program. Very few organizations offer homeschool specific programs. My son had fun but he didnt really learn anything he didnt already know. He has been in 5 previous musicals so experience might be the reason. My other complaint was this is the first MTE group weve participated in that did not have a legitimate production at the end of the session. Although, their 15 min show ar the end was cute.

Wonderful venue to see great local talent performing live at very reasonable prices. Casual dress especially for the matinee performances.Tickets sell out fast as the theater is small, so buy your tickets early. Season tickets (6 performances over a year) also available at discounted prices. Call the theater for details or check their website.Ample free parking behind the theater or across the street at Kapiolani Community College. For the past year or so, a security guard was available before and after performances to help people cross the street.

Diamond Head Theatre offers very good productions in a setting that is small enough to benefit everyone in the audience, but not so small that it feels cramped. They also offer a variety of classes (acting, singing, dance) for local youth. The building is on the old side (its been in place for over 100 years!) And parking is somewhat limited - those are the two main drawbacks.

A wonderful theater for the old standards! The cast competently executes every show Ive seen and there are occasionally extraordinary players. This isnt the place to find the edgier shows, though. And ticket prices for community theater (as for everything else in Hawaii) are on the high side. Season tickets are the way to go if you enjoy mainstream shows at a discount.
