Great experience. Very unique museum ship with incredible views. So much history. The kids love to visit.
Highly recommended. We need to remember and make our kids realize that world peace is never to be taken for granted. My youngest child asked Mama, what is world war? Why is this ship called a battleship? Her curiousity piqued, we explored together how we must never ever take world peace for granted. Also, that after so many lives lost during the war, history was made on USS Missouri as it was on her Captains deck, by the stroke of PENS, World War II finally ended. Words and educated understanding of the world restored and ensured peace and balance.
The history and story of the Mighty MO battleship really comes to life as you walk the deck in a guided tour. The tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and enjoyable. This is definitely a must see in Oahu!
This is an amazing part of our history, of dedication, resolve and perseverance. It is moving memorial to our heroes. And they were young. The ship was named by President Truman as he was proud of his state Mississippi. This ship played a very important role in the second world war as well as the end of the war. There are plaques and pictures of the surrender by the Japanese generals. The ship is a floating museum. You can see how the sailors lived. Very interesting and moving. It really is important for us learn and know about this part of the history. The Japanese government surrendered on this ship. And the war ended here.
Such an amazing part of history! This ship and the stories of the men and women who have served aboard her are breathtaking. She has seen many battles and been through multiple wars and still exists today to teach the masses about the sacrifices made in the past to provide us the peace we experience in the present. You simply MUST visit her and learn her story.
What an amazing piece of history. To be able to stand on the deck where the declaration was signed and to be able to hear all about the history of this amazing vessel, it is astonishing to learn that this ship was recommission after retirement twice to hear about everything she was involved in, this is something to not be missed.
Amazing look at the Mighty Mo! The last battleship. Its literally a floating city. Definitely worth the afternoon it takes to go through. So much history and artifacts here. We did not do the guided tour but just watching them in passing they seem great. Take your time and walk through the ship as directed by the arrows. Pay attention to the little details that truly create the city on the sea feel. Great ticket deal included with the Go Oahu card.
Like the Arizona this is an absolutely must see memorial/museum if you are on the island of Hawaii. They have done an amazing job keeping the ship up. The volunteers are absolutely amazing too. Very friendly and very helpful.
A great place to visit history. We were only there on a bus tour for about an hour. Believe me, an hour doesn’t come to anywhere near enough time to see the entire ship. You have a guide for the first couple of stops commonly visited to explain the main highlights of the ship’s history. Then, you have freedom to visiting the nooks and crannies open to visitors. We went in on a tour bus, so I’m not too familiar how difficult it s to access the ship. The only issue I had was that the US flag on the bow was hanging by only one clip.I recommend visiting this ship if at all possible. .
Really cool to see this massive battleship, above and below deck. Do the quick guided tour for about 30 minutes, then tour the rest of the ship yourself. Expect to spend at least 2 hours there, or more of you want to actually read and watch all the interesting historical displays.
Had the chance to see this beauty for a reenlistment ceremony. It provides wonderful history and chances to stand in and view what it looked like when in use. The guides are great and the gift shop it cute. Excellent place to visit for history buffs.
VERY FASCINATING.WOW What an amazing day we had. Very informative especially for us Aussies who dont know a lot about what happened in the war. We did a free guided tour which was very interesting & guide certainly knew her knowledge. You can take your time to explore the ship like we did & took plenty of photos too. You certainly do look after your heroes in U.S.A.
A very well preserved ship. We took a tour which gives a lot more insight into life on the ship. There is a lot more than just the formal surrender that took place. There are interesting stories behind the people who were there and who was allowed to sign and who was invited to attend. The tours can be joined as soon as you walk on to the ship.
My Boy Scout Troop did the encampment overnight stay on Mighty Mo and they take great care of you. Sleep on actual crew bunks, take afternoon and night tours, and eat in the crew galley. Great program and they have tours that are interesting for all age groups. They even let us retrieve the colors off the fantail of the ship, and raise them the next morning. I encourage all scouts to apply for this opportunity. The staff were extremely knowledgeable of all things Battleship Missouri.
Spend the extra $25 and do the Heart of Missouri add on tour, you wont be disappointed.
If you have any passing interest in battleships or history, this ship is quite steeped in just about everything from being the site where they ended World War II, to the setting of Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time” music video. There’s a guided 30-minute tour that runs you through the main decks, and then from their you can explore the vast inside of the ship. A surprising amount is accessible, so however long you think you’ll spend here will end up taking much longer because there’s so much to see, so keep all of that in mind. It’s also an incredibly bizarre ship because even though it was being built when Pearl Harbor was attack, it’s upgraded with modern technology up through the gulf war. So it’s obviously a very old battleship but all the computers are from the early 90s. It’s crazy, and well worth your time.
Such an awesome experience! Amazing history along with a very friendly staff. Come check it out.For a video tour and adventure videos:Roamingsmith.blog
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time aboard the USS Missouri!First of all, the tour was very informative and just the right length. We learned the basics of the ship and the significance of what happened there.Secondly, we loved the freedom to explore the ship. Below deck is self-guided. Theres a maze of rooms to explore. We had a blast. You can easily spend several hours here and there are plenty of picture opportunities. If you have kids and are in the area, this is a great option. Theyll learn a lot and have a blast. Absolutely with the price of admission. You have to take a bus to get to the Mighty MO, but they have restrooms, drinks, and a gift shop over there.
I recommend taking the extended tour. Its not too expensive and they take you up into the gun turret, engine room, and fire control. Also, you get to walk around as much as you want after the tour.
This was by far the most touching & memorable part of my trip to Hawaii! The Pearl Harbor & USS Missouri tours are a truly amazing glimpse back in time!!
It was good despite not going on board. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had been on it at least a dozen times as a kid before it had been re-commisioned back to active service. I didnt see the need to pay $25 a person to go on this time. It was nice to see that it appears to be well kept.
I wish we had spent all day at the battleship. We did a guided tour and had 2-3 hours on the Missouri but we could have spent twice that amount of time looking around. Extremely well set up with tons of information. Make sure you do the guided tour. Id go back here in a heart beat.
The Battleship Missouri is HUGE! Its awesome to see the power of all the great battleship that the Navy has. The ship was very educational and it was neat to see the place where WWII ended. The staff was very kind to us on our visit considering we got there nearly before closing time. It was cool to take a step back and time and be able to appreciate the bravery, strength, and dedication that our Navy and other military members! Thank you all for your hard work and service, because of you all, we have the privileges we have today!
Pretty amazing.Military history at its best
This is an amazing piece of History. Seeing where the war with Japan ended is extremely memorable. The tours they give are excellent, and I highly recommend.
Went there on the below deck guided tour. We were treated to areas of the ship that will amaze you. Tour guides were so knowledgeable of all aspects of the ship and its history. An amazing experience not to be missed.
My favorite place at Pearl Harbour. Its a wonderful way to teach kids about history, about brutality of war and forgiveness. The story of on-site burial of the kamikaze Japanese pilot on Missouri really moved me. It just demonstrates the humility and compassion still left intact in some people. The good in humans has not been lost even in a dark time of war.
This is an amazing memorial to the history of naval warfare of the 20th century. The ship is steeped in history as it fought in 3 wars, not to mention being used for other engagements. From the visitor centre it is only a 5/10 minute shuttle journey to the entrance of the memorial. The ship its self is looking a little worn in places but thats understandable considering her age. Included in the ticket are guided tours around the ship. The guides fill you in on all the information you wouldnt get walking around on your own. You can easily spend a few hours here navigating the passageways within and reading about what the ship did in her life. Theres a few food stalls on the Dock next to the entrance that do some good food options if you get hungry whilst there. Was not left dissaponted upon visiting here and would highly recommend you pay her a visit if your at Pearl Harbour.
Our tour guide Uncle Andy was great. He took us on an extended tour and gave us a detailed account of the ship and all her beauty. Super knowledgeable and friendly. After we took the normal tour and received further information which was a perfect fit for Memorial Day.
Do not miss this tour! Take the guided tour on the upper deck, they are so knowledgeable and you’ll learn so much! Tour the decks below which are surprisingly roomy and rich with history. The atmosphere just outside is nostalgic with signage and seating. There’s also a food truck!
Getting to explore a piece of US history like this was incredible. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful while on board. Take your time, theres a lot to see and learn!
A great place to take the kids and family to learn a bit about the US involvement in WWII. As an Australian, this was a great touristy experience and one you dont often get. The ship is huge and almost all areas are accessible. Youll find yourself in awe at the big guns on deck, claustrophobic in the crew sleeping quarters, amazed at how well the canteen is fitted out and breathless once you climb your way to the top.Definitely a good idea to organise this as part of your pearl harbour experience.
This place is AWESOME! Its in AMAZING condition. Being on this ship feels genuine and real. The boat has been very well maintained. My family and I had a great time while exploring this Battle Ship!!!!!!
Well worth the time to visit. Excellent staff who are very knowledgeable.
This was a moving and special experience! Exploring the ship and seeing what life was like for the men there was something I’ll never forget. The highlight was standing at the point where world war 2 ended! Amazing
The guide is very knowledgeable about the history that happened in pear harbor. Very nice to see the ship in person, huge guns, and very historic ship. This is were the Japanese signed their surrender to the allies. Visit pearl harbor when your in hawaii.
This ship has been maintained very well with all of the visitor traffic it has seen. The wood deck is still in great shape, the brass polished, and portholes cleaned. To see the entire ship will take quite a bit of time so plan accordingly and bring some comfortable shoes.
Great docents let us through an introduction to the historical significance of the ship. Then we were free to roam the labyrinth below deck. If you get overheated above deck there are spaces to sit down in the crews mess and cool off. Give yourself an hour and a half. You will be talking a bus ride from the visitors center.
Loved everything about visiting this piece of history. The customer service when collecting tickets was great and it really made me happy that they gave VIP help to military people and families. The bus ride over to the USS Missouri included a bit of audio history. We took part in a 35 min tour in English and the guide was brilliant and knowledgeable. The fact that you can explore the ship freely is especially awesome and if you have never been make sure you give yourself plenty of time. Think of how much time you think you will take and double it especially if you have children that are interested in military things. There are plenty of photo opportunities on the ship! There is a lovely view to the modern day destroyer ships and to the USS Arizona which it is special to reflect on from the Missouri.Take a water bottle and note that you cant eat or take big drinks on the shuttle bus so keep that in mind if you decide to buy food from one of the vendors next to the ship.
Fascinating to stand at such a historic place and see where WW2 officially ended. Make sure to attend one of the free walking tours and listen to the commentary. After that you can walk around the lower and upper decks of the ship and see more details of the life at sea. I think there is an additional optional tour that takes you to the engine rooms as well but I have not done it personally.
We are a Marine Corps Family so anything that shows Support or History of our Country is always a Great life/teaching lesson for our Children. Honored to be able to see and experience this Massive Ships Beauty!! My kids ages 3,6,7,8 all enjoyed seeing the inside of the ship and listening to Daddy talk about his Experience on a Similar boat during his deployment!!
A must see! We went on the 4th of July for the entire day! Even stuck around for the fireworks which was a once in a life time experience. Heads up though, you cannot take any bags on the ship they will make you leave them unattended on the pier. Also, be sure to get there early for a decent spot if going to view fireworks. Our tour guide was amazing during the day!
A definite must see! A great ship that participated in many American conflicts! It’s good to know we have this amazing ship watching over our soldiers resting below in the USS Arizona.
This was an awesome tour!! Even with the construction going on, we had a great time, touring it on our own. They also have guides tours, but we prefer doing it on our own and being able to go at our own pace. There are plaques and markers along the way so we were able to read about each area. I suggest taking a bottle of water as they have water stations on board. They have drinks for sale but $5.50 for a Monster is outrageous in my opinion.
What a great experience!! You can soedn all day just on this ship!!! The vendors with the shave ice make for a nice break of this isnt your first stop when visiting pearl harbor. Once inside they do a fantastic job of giving you an idea of what life is really like on the ship! This was the highlight of our pearl harbor tour.
I felt a legitimate adrenalin rush being here. I couldnt believe that I was standing in such a piece of history. The best part for me was to stand right where the peace treaty of world war II was signed. It felt like a dream to be here.I enjoyed the other monuments in this area as well but it felt almost disrespectful to be happy at those memorials. It was so nice to get to go through the Missouri and see how the sailors lived and worked. It was the highlight of my day.
Really enjoyed the chance to visit and the dosend who guided us was extremely knowledgeable!
The USS Missouri memorial is a short bus ride from Pearl Harbor (you can buy tickets at the USS Arizona memorial), and was very interesting. Id recommend taking the short guided tour first - it just covers the main deck and has some interesting information. Then definitely go through both the Below Decks and Bridge tours. The former covers the living, working, and recreation areas for both enlisted sailors and officers (and is air conditioned!). There is also a small museum with more information about the ship and her involvement in several wars. The latter is pretty brief, but its interesting to see the bridge and the views are pretty stellar.
Really enjoyed visiting the Battleship Missouri, absolutely massive battleship with huge guns. We had a world war two veteran show us around. Amazing history. This is a must if you are in Hawaii on holiday, get yourself on a tour and dont miss this world attraction.
A must place to visit if you’re in Honolulu, pearl harbor is a very important site in history and it was very interesting to learn more about the place and about that particular ship. On that ship the allied forces signed the formal surrender of the Japanese army and ended WWII. It is also very cool to see the ship and to learn how its crew members lived and work and to find out all the different jobs they had.
Lovely visit to the battleship Missouri. The guided tours was a fantastic touch and the presenter had extensive knowledge on the history of the ship. Tip: put on some sun screen as it can get hot out on the deck of the ship.
The tour guide, Joe, was very detailed and informative. We couldnt have asked for a better guide. After the tour we were on our own to explore the battleship. I got pretty emotional knowing everything that had to have gone on in that battleship... my 11-year old was very entertained with the whole history lesson that he didnt even know he was getting. Overall: extremely pleased.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that every true American should visit! A crucial and huge part of our history back everyone should educate themselves on! What can I say it was awesome but at the same time very sad and humbling. Thank you to everyone and their families who are active non active retired military and those that were victims of Pearl Harbor! I love you all thank you very much!
The 6th graders from Nimitz Elementary (last year) got the chance to spend the night here! It was soooo fun! The food was alright... Not the best... The showers were questionable... And on the wall beside my bunk I think there was blood... But still very fun!
Amazing US Navy battleship that served from World War II to Desert Storm, and was the official place of surrender by Japan. Huge 16 guns, 5 guns, Tomahawk missiles, CWIS, and more. Air conditioning inside the ship during tours. Dont miss it!
A very unique opportunity to not only board a Navy battleship, but one with some of the most unique and important history in the world. World War II ended on this ship. Furthermore, its a chance to experience a marvel of engineering.
One of the highlights of the trip and wrth every penny to go see. The mighty mo did not disappoint. They let you see the spot where world war 2 ended. There are free tours with entry and the individual that gave us a tour was amazingly knowledgeable. Tourists can go up into the bridge (if you want to climb the ladders/stairs) or down a deck to see some of the crew cabins etc. Great bit of history for the last battleship to serve the fleet
It was a spectacle of a battleship and the stories and history behind it are intriguing. Tour guide was nice and touring the ship itself have insight into how our previous Americans lived and fought for our nation. Bonus, purchasing a shell bullet shape water container allows free refills on ship to help stay hydrated and plus the shape is pretty cool.
The ship is in excellent condition and is a marvelous place to explore. Youll be able to see most of the ships living and working sections. Go slow and mind your step and head. They offer scouting programs so get with your pack master to schedule an event. The ship is a must see and do when visiting Hi. Make sure you contribute a generous donation towards the upkeep of the ship.
Great! Very cool visit. You can join a walk tour on deck and youre also free to explore all the different areas of the ship.
Great place to visit, the Mighty Mo is massive, a must see while visiting Oahu.
We visited this memorial site using our Go Oahu card that was purchased from Costco. A great guided tour was included at the beginning (about 20 - 30 minutes) and you would have an opportunity to walk around on your own afterwards. We enjoyed seeing and hearing about all the historic events ever happened on board. I definitely would recommend visiting this place.
The Mighty Mo was a great place to visit. Many parts were wheelchair accessible, and the guided tour showed us just where the treaty with Japan was actually signed - not to mention some other facts that were not bragged about in the history books. I actually stood in the same place that the war officially ended with japan. Right on the very spot that the signatures were inscribed. . . . what a feeling it gave me.
Easy to follow a self tour of the ship. Great show of history with descriptions.
Love it! Its just such an honor to be able to walk the decks of the Missouri and learn the history.I will do it again if I ever get the chance just to support the preservation of this unique piece of history.Come here if you ever get the chance and learn about those who gave their lives. Honor their memory.
Amazing how much you can explore on the ship. Highly recommend the Heart of Missouri tour. Worth every cent to see the working of the ship.
Amazing to be able to get up and close with such a significant piece of history. From being on the bow to the bridge and many parts below deck was a great experience. Couldn’t recommend this any higher on the must do list in Honolulu.
An extremely important floating monument of WWII history. An absolute must-see attraction in Hawaii!!!
Really neat to see first hand. You cannot fathom the true size of these boats till you are standing next to it.The volunteers were all knowledgable and helpfulSome of the stairs were steep and would not recommend it for people with mobility issues
The Heart of the Missouri Tour is a must for all that are into ships, military, history or mechanical stuff in general. The general tour is great for everybody else ;) On the Heart of the Missouri Tour you get a behind the scenes look and great explanation about the various combat and engineering spaces. The tour takes about 90 minutes and after that you can either join the general tour or explore the rest of the ship on your own. There is great detail in the outfit and displays on board of the ship, as if it was ready to go for another mission. Lots of original stuff to see and get close to. I highly recommend doing either of the tours when at Pearl Harbor.
A must see if visiting Oahu Island of Hawaii. This museum is full of information and a visual experience of Naval History that cant be experienced anywhere else. Gift shops and food is available and a percentage of profit goes to the muesum for upkeep.
Awesome experience. It is amazing to see how sailors live and work in such tight quarters and all of the personnel it takes to basically run a small city at sea. Great tour.
Battleship Missouri Memorial is definitely a must see for anybody visiting Honolulu. I find the history lesson invaluable to me. It is very important to know and understand the horrific cost of the peace that many of us now enjoy. The battleship itself is like a small city on the sea. Of course if you’ve visited the USS Midway Museum in San Diego then Missouri May seem less spectacular. Nevertheless, I am sure you will still enjoy the tour and will not regret visiting this place.
Incredible history happened here. Should be on the bucket list of everyone even remotely interested in military warfare, or just history in general.
Great tour and great historical stories. See Craig if you want the best tour.
Had a lovely tour with our guide Bill. Very interesting and it is handicap accessible.
This battleship is huge and very interesting to see. Plenty of pictures to take, both on the inside and outside. The tour guide(s) are very friendly and informative and they take about 35-40 minutes to go over the majority of the boat. Plenty of snack shops, food shops, souvenir shops to use. Lots of parking space too.
This is an amazing place one of if not my favorite place on Oahu. Full of history (WWII to the Desert Storm). The staff is wonderful always happy to help. The tour guides are absolutely fantastic. An absolute wealth of information on the Battleship. If you ever find yourself on the island of Oahu you need to make time to see the mighty Mo!!!!!
Great experience. Took the long guided tour (only around 8 people) for 90 minutes, which was well worth doing. Each full tour takes a different route, so each time is a different experience.
Incredible to see and experience where WWII came to an end. Very good place to bring kids to understand more about history. Was also neat to see the different pieces from WWII era as well as Desert Storm. To be able to stand and take in the history is a great experience.
Just an excellent Memorial of a once Great Battleship that helped save the world of Japanese control.
It gets a little maze-like down on the ship so be prepared. Bring water. It gets hot in line and on deck. Beautiful exhibit though.
Lots of really cool stuff here. The maze like tour throughout the ship is quite interesting to explore and read about all the details. Given its history and age, alot of things were really well preserved. Just the role and its legacy in WWII and Desert Storm is fascinating to be walking on such a storied ship. Awesome!
As a Brit Americans like to put on a show and go big. This is exactly what they do here with this excellent example of precision engineering. We selected to have a tour of the important places before freely roaming around which I would advise anyone do who visits. They are informative and very well presented they field all kinds of questions and have extensive knowledge of the ship. After we wondered round looking at the sites and going inside the belly of this beast to explore. Its beyond interesting to see and literally is the best thing I have done on any holiday ever. If youre in Honu you must go for a visit, the whole memorial is beautifully presented and filled with information.
Love to hear the details of history that you never hear about. Pearl Harbor marks the beginning of US entry into war, Battleship Missouri is where the treaty is signed and the war ends. We were able to view where the sailors and high ranking officials slept and ate. This is a must see. The entrance fee is used to fund the operation and maintenance of this nonprofit. The entrance fee comes with a guided tour.
Realy nice place. You must see.
History of atrocity can’t be re-written. By standing in front of the this historical location, marks the end of WWII and millions of lives lost, we can help to ensure such war does not happen again, ever.Highly recommended.
Cool battleship. Great source of history. Take the guided tour! You get to hear about the events on the battleship.
Definitely a must to visit when youre in Honolulu! Make sure to get free tickets to learn about Arizona (tickets are available at the booth) and watch a documentary along with a ride to the memorial. Also visit the USS Battleship Missouri. Definitely worth it (tickets include a 35 minute guided tour).
The Battleship Missouri is a truly special place to visit. Whether you take the guided tour, audio or walk throughout this enormous ship at your own pace you will not leave this place the same way. From the huge loss of life on that infamous day, to the massive efforts to restore and rebuild so many of these historic Battleships and final surrender deck and end to the war in the Pacific.Definitely worth getting in a little earlier as the crowds get a bit larger in the afternoon. There are plenty of places to eat, drink as well as restrooms and shops. You can easily spend half a day here.A truly moving place to visit and a definite if visiting Hawaii.
Hard to imagine men lived in such close quarters. But very cool at the same time. Officers there were very informative and nice
Wear sunscreen, hat and good walking shoes. This is not the place for your heels. Amazing memorial and museum. Lots of walking, steps, ladders.
The ship is amazing and the tour details how sailors lived and the signing of the treaty to end WWII.
Honored to have been able to see this ship and walk around. Park staff was very nice.
Incredible life history of a ship and her crew. They served their country most honorably. Thank you to all.
We needed more time but its amazing!
A great historical site. You can get a guided tour, which I highly recommend. There is a lot of history on this massive ship, and it is a great experience. A great big thank you! to all of our brave men and women who serve! God bless you all!
