Man is it great to be back in a movie theater! Every seat is a recliner in this particular location so its awesome. It was also a great experience to see the mall back in action and be around people for the first time and what feels like years. Lets get back to living life like normal, just be safe.

New theater with luxury recliner seats that are heated (low, med., high). Only 5 screens/auditoriums with stadium tier seats. They sell alcohol and looks like the expanded menu stuff. You actually enter at the old planet fitness mall door after mall hours and must go in and downstairs by escalator to the food court. Its tucked in down there. Its location is technically below ground under the area where the planet fitness old entrance was and the shoe repair shop was located. See pictures.

After first going to this theater, I try to see all the movies I like here. I luv heated seats and that each viewing room isnt huge. And after the movie I can go shopping or to the gym, just perfect.

This is a fairly new theater, open at the end of 2018. The theater is small, inside a shopping mall. In general, it is clean, the staffs are friendly. The seats are very comfortable and heated. Will come back son.

We came here on Christmas day after its grand opening in the week before. The seats are reclining, with some with warm up control.

Its so clean and comfortable! The seats are amazing and the sound isnt too loud like some theatres! Parking is easy, as well!

Very comfortable seats. They recline, there is space between the rows, so no one kicks your seat from behind ( which can be super-annoying and ruin your movie watching experience!) Will surely visit again.

Didnt even know that Southland mall have a theater now until co-workers mentioned it to me and that the seats are soft, wider, the material is leather (may be faux leather I dont know) and they recline and have a built in heater too for those who like that kind of stuff. This is where Ill be watching films from now on. Sorry Century 25 Union City.

Reclining seats, with seat warmers! Seats are very roomy even for a big guy like me. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The concession stands are basic Popcorn, Nachos, Hotdogs, Pizzas, alcohol, ect... Which was disappointing (Suggestion to Owner please buy your pizzas from Lou Malnatis).

Great seating! Clean theaters. Friendly staff that accommodate food allergies by letting you bring in your own food if necessary.The speakers in some of the theaters could use some tweaking, but otherwise a pleasant experience.

Go on Tuesdays for discount prices! Comfy seats and very convenient to get quick meal before the show with the food court right outside doors. But it would have been nice to have door to exit outside instead of having to walk through mall.

Theater is small. Either theres too many workers or not enough. Over 30 min wait for snack bar the other day.

Nice theater. Only 5 theaters. Discounts for seniors on Mondays, general discounts on Tuesdays. Lounge chairs are nice but the backs dont recline.

Cool but they wouldnt let me and my girlfriend in cause she had a backpack which was trashy because we had no where to put it so we could watch the movie

They only have 5 screens but its ok. They keep the place clean, the staff is very friendly and the reclining seats are awesome!! And the Food Court is right outside.

The manager who I bought my tickets from. He takes his job too seriously like the fun police. I came to this movie with a senior and a child. First of all, I bought 3 movie tickets, medium popcorn, large icee, vanilla milkshake and medium coke. The senior had a bag with her lunch and the child had a snack but the manager wouldnt let them take their stuff inside. I was just at this theatre yesterday and I saw several people with bags going in. Look I get the rules but Ive spent lots of money at this particular theatre since theyve opened. And, to make an old lady leave her lunch in the car is heartless. It wasnt like I wasnt buying $40 worth of stuff anyway!!! So I guess this is why the movie we saw today had like 6 people in there. The spirit of this theatre is all bad.

The theaters are pretty small, they have less than 50 seats in them. While they advertize as luxury loungers, the legs do not raise as high as the previous ones Ive sat in at other Century Theaters.

Once the movie stars, great. Before that its so annoying!!! First, the entrance is in the mall. You have to fight the crowds to go down an escalator to double back to where you started. Then the snack bar was so poorly thought out. It took us almost 20 minutes to just order our stuff. A lot of people just got out of line because their movies were starting. Like I said, annoying!! I will not go back their if I can avoid it.

One of the nicest theaters I’ve ever been to. Small, with only 5 screens but very intimate and cozy. The luxury lounge seats are heated (yes, heated) and are very comfortable. The displays are large and the sound system is quite amazing - I felt my seats rattle. With Round 1 coming, Southland is starting to trend with the times. There’s no need to drive to UC, Newark or Fremont anymore :)

The new theater is nice. Small inside, condensed but the new recliners are sweet. Seat warmers are a nice touch. Im glad they gave this side of Hayward a movie theater again seeing as how 15yrs ago we had 2 here near southland but its definitely a nice start over.

Dinky little mall with not much in it. Not too bad if you wanna kill a little bit of time. But if youre looking for something specific, good luck.

Great seats and sound system. People need to pitch in to keep the theatre clean by throwing away their trash and leftover popcorn in the garbage cans!

Nice and new. Annoying to get to because its in the food court at the lower level - no way to access it directly from the parking lot. Plan an extra few minutes to walk in

Its a fun places to go when with friends family members or just to shop

I live in Hayward and was excited that the theater finally opened so I didnt have to drive to Fremont to watch a movie with comfortable reclining seats. I too went the 2nd week that Lion King was released. When I got to my seats there were people in them. So we had to wait for them to move with drinks and popcorn in our hands. I have never had someone in my pre-assigned seats that I personally picked before. I hope this theater will read this and make it clear that you must sit in your designated seat. Common decency. I was in the 3rd row from the front which is usually ok since you can recline your chair. But not at this theater. I could not get comfortable because these seats dont go back far enough. It could have been because behind the 3rd row is the wall. But I am not sure I want to bother trying another row.

The seats are solo comfortable! Heated lumbar area. Food is expected to be $$. I would fill up from the food court before going in.

My 1st time being here! We watched Captain Marvel!I do enjoy the reclining seats, and the sound system is killer! I will enjoy going there again, the food is pricey though!

We were told we could not enter the movie theater with the bag in the picture because it violates their policy. I understand if I had a huge shopping bag but this is a small bath and body works bag and you can easily see the contents. Do not come here if you plan on shopping before you go to the movies, idk because its a MALL. Im not going to my car in the pouring rain to drop off a small bag that would probably fit in my purse but decided to carry. This is a ridiculous policy and every other century theaters Ive been to has not said a thing about the bags that I carry into the movie theater. Do not come here unless you want to be HELLA irritated.Update:Drove to the downtown Hayward theater 5 minutes away from the mall and walked in with ZERO questions from any of the staff who were helpful (3 different people).

Clean theaters, with luxury lounge seats to recline in, and an optional seat warmer that has 3 settings. A great place to go to the movies overall.

I am livid!!!!! Went to the movies on Tuesday 7/23 to see lion king with my nephews at Century Southland Theaters in Hayward, Ca located at the mall. They were so excited since theyd been waiting to see it but I hadnt been feeling well. I am currently disabled and I have lupus. The disease has affected my ability to walk.We get to our seats and this lady and her 1 yr old are occupying 2 of our 3 seats. I kindly let her know she was in our seats and she needed to find her own. She refused. I asked her to move. She said the movie people told her to sit in my seats because other people were in hers. I then told her that wasn’t my problem and to go speak with mgmt again because I paid for these seats. She refused and told me to speak with mgmt. I told her “lady can’t you see I’m disabled! I’m not gonna go walking all over the place like this, plus I can’t stand up all this time arguing with you either.”My thing was it’s easier for her to get her baby and sit in a singular seat any where than it is for us to find 3 seats together somewhere. She said she wasn’t moving.My oldest nephew went and got a worker to which she told she wasn’t moving. No security was called. At this point the movie is over 30 mins in and the issue is still unresolved. The worker got a mgr and she was also told she wouldnt move. The mgr didnt call security. She finally got the lady to agree to move if the people in her seats moved. The mgr went and spoke to them and they refused to move too. No security called. They tried to get the family to move over one seat so we all could sit. I told them by the time they get it together the movie will be over. So they went to the GM to have him come and move them.Im frustrated, Ive been standing for an extended period of time with only my cane since we left my walker in the car. My legs are hurting, my 4 yr old is upset because he thinks we wont see the movie and we are hungry. We planned to sit in our seats while my older nephew got our food before this drama happened.The GM didnt come. I decided to ask if we could go to the next showing since we were getting no where. They advised it was in an hr and could give us free passes for another time. I asked for concession discounts but the mgr said the passes were all that she could do but the GM may be able to do more. However, they weren’t able to find him all of a sudden.So here we are waiting an hr for the movie, hungry, I have an upset 4 yr because he doesnt want to wait for another movie, and Im tired from the whole ordeal. If I hadnt promised wed see the movie I wouldve left. I didnt want to spend all of this time at the movies. Worst experience ever!Someone in management needs to contact me about this. This is unacceptable.Thanks!

Loved it, the popcorn was fresh, you get to choose were you sit, the seats are super convenient they recline and they heat up so you dont have to be moving your head all the time you can just move the seat to see better

I find the entrance situation annoying, it ends up being a long walk from the parking lot. I also feel the fact that the reclining seats are not as wide as others I have seen is unfortunate. Lastly, the fact it is only 5 theatres means I will probably continue to go to Union City!

Grew up in hayward hung out at southland mall when i was a teen we used to hve a arcade called lemans speed way with racing cars you could drive and a track you went around it was the spot to hamg out at in the 70s where the food court is now and the new theater is wonderful wish they had it yrs ago great seating sm theater but realy nice and clean the works are very friendly and welcoming and you cant beat the parking great job southland
