Awesome historical site. One of many historic assets in the city.
This is an amazing piece of history right in the center of town. We found graves of many of our ancestors. What a surreal experience!
What a humble experience
I give the Ancient Burial Ground located at 60 Gold St, Hartford, CT 06103 FIVE STARS. This place is filled with so many old graves. The oldest gravestone is believed to be of Timothy Stanley, who died in 1648. Its so disappointing to know how it was approved to sell land and all for commercial buildings.
The tour was excellently informative; there was a great crowd & even the weather cooperated!!! The only down side was the noise from the parking garage. But I brought the book by Mr. Richard Ross, III and I cant wait to read it. I would definitely attend another guided tour of the Ancient Burying Ground!!!
Very interesting but we couldnt locate a specific burial plot. Because the age of the stones made them hard or impossible to read, it would have been very helpful to have a map of the burial plots.
Cool historical place
It was really cool to see this piece of history.
Lol I close it evrynite lol
Enjoyed the self tour with the available brochure. I liked that I could take my time and free to the public.
Its wonderful history of very early Connecticut, founders of the state and area are buried there.
Such a cool old old cemetery!
One of my favorite cemeteries in the state. Lots of old graves with some really interesting inscriptions. Too bad about the graffiti though. Its a great place for a quick stroll during lunch.
Must walk through it once. RIP lost souls of Hartford.
Cemetary with headstones dating back to the 1600s. Easy to get to and free admission. Its right behind an old church.
Being open to the public great, not being constantly watched, not so great. Witnessed shady activity several times on different days and times. This place shouldnt be known as the place drug dealer X sold to drug buyer Y. Need some eyes on this place more often.
Very enlightening
Unique, informational and historical.
In the summer (July/August), there are well-informed middle school children who provide free guided tours.
Powerful place.
A little cemetary, stopped by to visit one of my antcestors, who was one of the founders of the area.
Great site! lots of history, worth seeing.
So rare that a cemetery is preserved in the heart of a city. Some of these are really old, back to the beginnings of the city.
Weird it is located in the middle of a big city
Historically known in center of Hartford
It is beautiful!
