It is a smaller aquarium, but probably the most aesthetically pleasing Aquarium Ive visited (Newport, Aquarium of the Americas, Columbus Zoo). I would say this is great for couples to visit, or small families (3-4 people). Otherwise the price is hard to justify and may be better to visit the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans .Food was not badly priced and the gift shop was well stocked.Their Otters and Dolphins were not on exhibit when we visited, so Im definitely looking forward to a future visit. We saw some penguins, but they were free roaming with an employee, so Im not sure if theyre a permanent animal or on visit.

This was a delightful experience. Having been open less than a month, I was very happy with our experience. Many of the exhibits were interactive. The staff were all incredibly friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. The aviary was a great experience, the birds were all so beautiful. We did see the river otter sitting in his log watching people go by. While the dolphins were not there, we definitely understand and look forward to seeing them. The touch tanks were very cool, its always so nice to interact with nature on such a close and personal level; Admiring their beauty up close is such a treat. For the size, it was a very enjoyable experience.Look to spend about 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. We usually go pretty slow and from ticketing to seeing all of the exhibits and spending about ten minutes in the aviary, our tour was exactly one hour. I felt it was a little on the pricier end @ $30 per adult ticket for about one hour of viewing.I am proud to see such a nice aquarium in Mississippi and I anxiously await what wonderful exhibits are to come.On an cautionary note from a medical professional, it would definitely be advisable to do more with regard to ensuring social distancing. With group interactive experiences, people tend to crowd together. While I saw many social distancing markers, I didnt see anyone really paying attention and no one really enforcing it. Possibly limit the number of participants in certain areas or closely monitor # of tickets sold.

Nicely done, slightly expensive. The expense is justified in that the animals seemed well cared for and facilities were well done and new. Very well staffed and was very lightly attended today. Aviary was small but the birds were photogenic. 10 year old enjoyed the tunnel through the aquarium tank. Dolphins are coming after the hurricanes.

Very nice grounds but is not cheap. Lots of staff to help. They need to figure out their cost structure because I am afraid that 30 bucks per adult is going to be unsustainable. Cost almost 200 for 6 of us!Just for comparison, the Dallas aquarium is cheaper and I felt there is a lot more to see and do.My only complaint about the visit is they stapled a schedule in the map. Only one of the events in the schedule occurred. Since it was small, it was not a huge deal but why give a schedule if you are not sticking to it?I do not get that they also charge for parking. The multistory is convenient but there is plenty of free parking in the area if you are willing to walk 100 yards.

Stopped by the Mississippi Aquarium today...even though the weather was bad, we were able to see everything and had a good time. Crocodiles and Alligators to start. Then off to the Aquatic Wonders where you can see shallow water marine life and a touch pool. You work your way down the stairs to the deep water where you can see sharks. Outside you can see birds and fresh/brackish water fish. Really cool and glad to see it open!

This place is magical! I have been to dozens of zoos and aquariums in the United States and am amazed at how innovative and fresh everything looks. I am excited to see such a diverse animal selection and that there were places to visit inside as well as outside. This is a year round place to find peace and harmony and even learn something about animals and conservation. Theres an abundance of personnel to talk to which definitely enhances your visit. Theres a tremendous amount of things to see in not only the animals but their habitats and the surroundings. For those only excited to see sharks, dolphins and sea turtles I would say to slow down and really look at all the other beautiful things you have missed. The annual membership is surely worth the price for the tranquility alone but the family friendly atmosphere and the professionalism puts it over the top. The availability of adult and kid beverages at the concession stand was extra special! There is really no place like this. It is a coastal gem.

All the little caves for the children to enter to see the fish is great . Would love to had been able to see dolphins seals, and seal lions ...The little penguins were so precious with the bubbles. It was pretty decent. It had newer exhibits that I havent seen in a ordinary aquarium. The aviary was really cool and had a variety of birds, and the walk through tunnel was a nice touch. It was a great first time visit for my 2 y/o and 4 y/o. Having said that, we wont be driving another 3 hours to visit the Aquarium until its completely finished and all animals are present. I knew going in to our trip that the dolphins would not be at the Aquarium due to weather delays in getting them there. No problem there as I was aware. But, as we went into certain parts there was still a lot of work to be done and you could tell that certain areas were closed off and not ready. It was a very quick trip with such limited areas. The staff was awesome and besides the obvious construction, it was kept neat and clean. Well be coming back after its all complete!

This place has so much potential. There is an absolutely phenomenal staff there to answer questions. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. The only negative would be the amount of dead space that goes unused. They have tons of space for back-lit information boards describing the creatures in the habitat or something educational to break up all the empty wall space.

The aquarium is very well done and the staff were friendly and professional. The three star rating is due to the outrageous ticket pricing. It cost 100$ for myself along with my wife and our toddler to get in. The exhibits were very nice and well maintained, but you can easily walk through the entire facility in 45 min leaving you feeling gypped in the end. A Coca Cola experience for a Champagne price. 20$ a person to get in would be more than fair.

This place is meant for kids. It’s good for grandparents who wanna do something with their grandchildren. There are only a few exhibits. The main building is based around this one huge tank. My girlfriend and I spent a couple hours staring at the fish in the big tank. It’s relatively new so I understand why it’s small. Also a hurricane hit a couple weeks ago. I know I just went in there with high expectations. The staff were extremely nice. Not somewhere to go when looking for variety. It’s clean. Took about an hour to walk around.

Its wonderful to see the aquarium brought to Southern MS! Sadly there were some exhibits that were not open yet, the dolphins have not arrived yet (Anddddd theyre still charging 29.99 per adult anyway). Anddddd Im not sure I like the way your tickets for entry function around a time table for entry. The oceanic exhibit is gorgeous though, and theres a beautiful aviary exhibit as well! All in all, it is a great experience, but slightly disappointed about the advertised exhibits being unavailable at this time.

Way to expensive, especially considering that not all the areas are operating. The dolphins were not yet in there area and only had two penguins. The people were very nice and knowledgeable about everything. However as small as the place is we were through in less than two hours and this was with stopping and having a drink. $30.00 per person and having kids price stop at 12 ($25.00)was just ridiculous.I guess if I was rich it would be ok, however for a family that trys to work within a budget not a good place to go.I understand that this is a place trying to make money. But at this price the next time were down here we will drive another hour and go pet some animals for half the price and twice the time

This is a wonderful aquarium! Everything was clean. The marine/aquatic life and birds all looked healthy. I could tell instantly that the animals are well taken care of. Although this aquarium is not quite as large as the one in New Orleans, they have a good variety of things to see. The staff here were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. My daughter loved the touch pools and watching the Green Sea turtle, Banner! It was a great experience for my family! As a side note; this aquarium is directly across from the beach. If you have a whole day to spend in Gulfport, you could certainly visit both the aquarium and the beach.

We were excited to check this place out and it was horribly disappointing. $30/person to get in and then it’s just one single fish tank with various viewing areas. That’s basically it. There are no signs saying what you’re looking at, no little terrariums or smaller tanks that you typically find in places like this. Just barren hallways leading you back to the same tank over and over. A lady next to me asked a staff member if the place was even done yet, and were they adding more animals. The staff member said the building was finished and the only thing they’ll be adding is one single dolphin. The tank for this dolphin is TINY. And it’s going to be in there alone. I was so surprised to hear they planned to put an animal that belongs in a pod in to the worlds tiniest dolphin tank all by itself. I’m glad it wasn’t there when we went, because I feel like that would’ve just been depressing to see. Overall this place was a humungous letdown and not worth the hefty price tag. Even my 7 year old nephew was bored about 20 minutes in. If they cut the price by half it may be worth taking your kids. Otherwise I would pick something else to do or see.

This was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had! The aquarium requested that I purchase tickets ahead of time and schedule a time to arrive. We had to schedule our visit a week later than we wanted (I wanted to scheduled the trip for my daughters birthday) because earlier tickets were sold out. However, when we arrived during our scheduled time, they were allowing anyone to walk up and purchase tickets without scheduling in advance. Therefore, wait lines were ridiculous - they were 50 or 60 feet long in the blazing sun (no shade or fans were provided) before you could advance into to main exhibit. The main exhibit/building has three tanks. One is a petting tank. It was decent and had a variety of sea creatures to touch. The second tank is a single cylindrical tank that stretches from ceiling to floor and is about 10 feet, give of take, in diameter. Then theres the largest tank that has artificially painted coral throughout. It has a nice verity of sea life including a few sharks. The building is fairly large, but the majority of it is hallway. The exterior, is quite appealing, from an architectural standpoint, but its a major disappointment from the inside. The second building is about the same size of the main building. Its one large open building with no permanent exhibits. They had - literally - three penguins in a small cage in the entire building - thats it! Then theres a the dolphin exhibit with no dolphins. Theres an aviery with a few cool birds. Thats about sums up an entire trip to the Mississippi aquarium. But lets not forget, it costs $60 for one adult and one child to attend! If it werent for the ridiculous - and unnecessary - waiting lines, it would take all of 20 minutes to see all they have to offer. On a positive note, the staff was terrific, which is the only reason I would give the aquarium one star if zero was even an option. What a colossal waist of the tax payer money and an enormous waist of our time!

My little girls first word was fish so this was definitely a treat for her. On each level they have multiple large viewing areas. Different species seem to prefer different levels. There are a few viewing areas with carpet where you can sit on the edge and because of the shape of the glass it feels as if youre slightly immersed in their world. My group loved that part. We could have sat there for hours... We didnt get to experience a lot of the outdoor exhibits because the babies were extremely hot. We ended up leaving and going to Jones Park across the street to the splash pad to cool off. We will definitely go back when it cools down to see everything we missed.. I would suggest going at cooler parts of the day with small children or bringing those little fans that spritz water.

Absolutely wonderful flow and exhibits. The designers are genius is created exhibits not only to house our MS own wildlife but also designed in a way to mimic the MS River. This gives an authentic feel while giving a sense of direction! Ive been lost and wondering through zoos and aquariums many places! It is unfortunate yet understandable that some of the animals havent made it in yet (2 hurricanes and 2 tropicals w potential will do that) but I find that a positive rather than negative. It shows they care about the animals and arent endangering them to appease the masses and make a quick but at their expense. I fully intend to go before, during and after all the animals are home and love every second of it. I know they were still missing animals on some of the other exhibits, but it was kind of underwhelming. No jellyfish or exotic fish like you see at other aquariums, other than the fish in the 1 large tank. Very small compared to most other aquariums as well. The giant water tube in the center hosted what looked like sardines. Hopefully they can fill that with prettier fish and give us something to actually look at. I still have no clue what the changing of tides gallery was suppose to be, it’s just a huge empty room. I hope they will improve throughout the year since we bought annual passes.

Definitely doesnt seem fair that theyre charging full price to see them still try and put the place together. The aquatic wondering is beautiful, but most of the rest is still being worked on and some places are still closed off. I dont feel like it was worth the price.

This is the best place on the coast to have fun with your funny there is touch stations, a onsite pop brothers, restaurant, and souvenir shop on premises. There is also a really cool tube that you can walk through that is in the main tank.

Not worth the money. There were no dolphins, shows, or enough variety of species. They may should have waited to get everything in place before opening. It only took 30 minutes to see everything. I have been to much better ones for the price. Another issue was crowdedness and no social distancing in place.

I gave this aquarium 2 stars because I do not feel its worth the price! There are hardly any animals/fish and its like $30 a person.I will add tho, that they have only been open since August of 2020 ... so I WILL visit again one day in the future once they have had time to expand their amount of sealife!

Disappointing for the price. The facilities were gorgeous, but felt very empty. The main building in particular consisted of just two tanks: the big ocean tank, and a smaller tube tank with schooling fish. As I walked down the winding hallways, I expected to see Native Mississippi Fish Exhibits, or smaller tanks dotting the wall. But no, they were totally bare, only leading to different angles of the large tank.I understand that many of the animals couldnt come in due to the double hurricane threat, but even the main attractions felt incomplete/redundant. Also, despite the aquarium being on the smaller side, some signage or maps on the wall would be nice!Friendly staff though, and again, beautiful facilities. I just hope more exhibits arrive in the future, or that the price is lowered a bit!

Was Disappointed not all exhibits were open. There is a lot of Wasted space. couldve done a better job with it over all. A lot of exhibit are outside. I would recommend going in winter or spring! Not the Summer/fall time! To Hot!
