They had a nice variety of art and very tastefully displayed. Well organized into different time periods. Looking forward to visiting again.
This is a nice small museum featuring art of American artists. There is a Mary Cassatt and a Childe Hassam. There is also a small Andy Warhol gallery when I visited. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and were willing to entertain questions. It was really just one floor and an hour should be enough to see all the pieces of art. The exterior is also very nice.
Go! If visiting Pittsburgh, make a trip. Completely enjoyable afternoon. Lots to see, but the industrial landscapes were particularly interesting and powerful to me. Friends took me here, and it was a wonderful surprise.
Today was my first visit here and it will certainly not be my last. We went on a schol tour and our leader was so engaging and informative. The collection of art is diverse and well displayed. My kids all agreed it was not boring. We will definitely be back and I feel so silly for not visiting before. If youve never been there, dont be silly, just go!
A true delight!! I stopped in on a drive and found a wonderful collection of the highest quality folk art and 18c furniture and a large collection of 19c paintings of Pittsburgh factories and the surrounding nature. Definitely a museum that pulls above its weight.
Fantastic collection of art, with a nice focus on art of Southwestern Pennsylvania. There are a few hands-on exhibits for the kids, which we absolutely loved. We thought we were going to have to rush through the museum to keep the kids from becoming bored, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We could have easily spent the whole day there.
I would not have thought Greensburg would have such a nice art collection, but this one is a gem! The collection of local art was great! But their more permanent collection is quite impressive also! This is a great place to go in combination with all of the wonderful hikes the Laurel Highlands has to offer! Definitely worth checking out!
Great for locals looking for a fun afternoon, or for people in town who want to learn more about local art. They have a quaint gift shop and clean bathrooms. They offer yoga classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Lots of parking with an additional lot across the street. Has wheelchair ramps and elevators for accessibility.
Great collection. Beautiful building.
Awesome venue. Been going since 06 for Jazz shows. Joshua Ben and his band great last night.
Great place to gather with family and friends.
Great place! Parking and museum were free (at least on Sunday) and very well appointed museum. Highly recommend!!
Not what I expected. Very little explaination of the art itself.
Beautiful place to visit, Are kids love it
Amazing My husband Michael suggested we go here, it was fabulous! Do not miss this one! You will be surprised what is right under your nose!
I love this museum. Beautiful collection. Highly recommend a visit.
Outstanding venue!! Beautifully designed/laid out. The current special exhibit (John Van Hamersveld) is phenomenal! See it before it closes Oct. 20th.! Staff are knowledgeable & helpful- and the free admission is amazing. We gave a donation on the way out to support this impressive facility. Will definitely be coming back!
They have great programs for everyone. I have enjoyed all the events that i have gone to there. It is a lively place to go and visit!
Beautiful displaysVery friendly staff to guide. They make your visit memorable.
This is a great display of culture for the public to access in Greensburg. I would heartily encourage anyone in the area to visit.
This is a well-maintained museum has always enjoyed my visits there
Great that its free and families can peruse the exhibits at their leisure. Also have some hands-on activities that are fun.
What an awesome experience! Beautifully curated art exhibits and creative events for children and families to enjoy for free!
Amazing museum that was beautiful inside and out. Lots of variety inside so theres likely a section that appeals to anyone.
Beautiful venue. Fantastic events. I love the direction the museum is heading. A real diy experience as you explore art and history.
My friend & I came out from Pittsburgh to see the John Van Hamersveld exhibit before it closed. The exhibit was worth the trip, and the rest of the museum was a hidden gem.Its a managageaby-sized museum that had enough to be interesting but not so much to be overwhelming. The gallery attendants and other staff members were pleasant & helpful. We got a suggestion for a place to eat a few blocks away in downtown Greensburg that was very good. This was a good experience for us & we will be going back. I highly recommend this museum.
A free museum with a variety of exhibits to interest everyone. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and works hard to bring different events to the venue to keep things fresh. A awesome gem to stumble upon during a day trip passing through town.It is not strictly a museum. They are opening a cafe in the lobby, and have multiple places where people can come read and study too.
Calm and quiet, a great place to both view and enjoy the art they have on display. Everyone is friendly, and I loved the time I had spent here. There is SO much to look at, plus they have a couple libraries and an area for children. They have something for everyone! Would definitely go again when I get the chance.
My clients and I thought this would be a great place to check out and we were right. All of the employees were very nice and helpful and there is so much to look at. Next time we plan to go back, I will make sure to have more time to spend. Over all it was a great experience and a wonderful museum.
An amazing art museum and to top it all off, its free.
A very nice museum! A great way to get some culture while in Greensburg!
Friendly staff. Interesting way to spend a free afternoon.
Thanks for help in researching a western PA artist. The whole staff was so nice and we appreciated everything there! We try to come to The Museum at least once a year. We do not live close, but we are always happy with the exhibitions.
One of the best art museums Ive ever visited.
Free admission, art spans late 18th C American art through today. Free parking. Small interactive area for adults and kids alike. Give it at least two hours. Small gift shop and cafe.
They had a jazz trio tonight and it was eccellent.
Really interesting place.. Fun for family
Lovely town, beautiful museum with café and gift shop.
Like the local themed Art best. Chairs provided to view paintings. Wish more room for paintings high up on wall. Will be back.
What a wonderful find. A great art collection, knowledgeable staff, AND its FREE. A perfect place to visit on a Sunday.
Beautiful remodel. Great place for meetings and training
Great little museum with interactive displays for children.
This is a beautifully designed, well-lit, little gem of a museum. The visiting exhibits are relevant and thought-provoking and the permanent collection, especially the folk art, delightful. The staff are very helpful and friendly and eager to anger questions. The first Sunday of every month is free. It is well worth the drive if you dont live in the area.
The staff and volunteers were so friendly and helpful. They gave suggestions and information - - - not too much, just enough. They made us feel like they were glad we came. Wonderful display of art. Interactive activities too.
So beautuful! And very welcoming
Awesome collection of Pennsylvania art. I easily spent four hours here.
Pleasant surprise...extensive local, yet broad base of extensive collections; From sculptures to paintings to a Chululy chandelier.
Very nice place ! Think gbg !
I was pleasantly surprised at what this museum contained. I particularly liked the local - historical paintings of things such as the steel mill workers. Youll find various work on display including furniture, statues, textile and theres even a nice play area for children. You wont be disappointed.
They have an exhibit area that changes periodically that keeps things interesting. Relaxing.
I was there today for the native American community day. It was awesome! I was disappointed that there were not more vendors! I was also hoping for some native American food stands. I hope they do this again !
The exhibits are like an adventure through regional history - clever, colorful, and informative!
I love the paintings of Native Amer cans and the docents knowledge was very informative.
A beautiful place to observe American art. In 2017 completed an overhaul of the building itself. The building itself belongs in a museum. The building itself I guess that I may be able to call it an art deco style. It is truly an amazing design. This was just an older building with many great works. This is a special place with a great coffee shop inside & a crown jewel of the Westmoreland Trust along with the palace theater & the Train Station. A place to see if you find yourself in Greensburg Pa.
Beautiful artwork and especially loved the Native American art and the talking leaves that was connected to an I pad.
A wonderful collection of art, with great changing exhibitions and fun activities.
Beautiful gem with a small, eclectic collection. I particularly liked the strong local flavor and the humble but charming folk art exhibit. The building itself is a gorgeous melding of modern and traditional. There are even a few attractions for kids! The Carnegie Museum of Art, Andy Warhol Museum, and Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh may be larger and better known, but the Westmoreland Museum of American Art rivals or exceeds them in execution and shows that size doesnt have to limit quality. Im so glad we stumbled upon this unexpected treasure!
Love going to the museum. Always see something that we missed the last time.
Free admission. Nice building.
Nice little museum to visit. The quilt exhibit is fun and highly recommend checking that out.
Amazing place. I intend to go back to visit because I only got a chance to see the temp shows. Amazing museum!!!
Loved the live singers, the kids room to play and the beautiful art displays.
I cant wait to go back and pick up where is left off.
Relaxing, with beautiful art.
Wonderful exhibits.
It is a wonderful Museum. It has a permanent collection of American art. A lot of that art is local to Pennsylvania. There is a revolving exhibition in the cantilever section. First Sunday of every month is free admission. I enjoyed it tremendously
I love the bridge display.
I love the Westmoreland Museum. I took the day off in part to visit the museum to see the sculpture exhibit. Wonderful and thanks to the donors. What an incredible gift!
Beautifully done...several docents available throughout to assist.
Very much enjoyed the visit. Pleasantly surprised by how extensive the collection is.
Lovely museum, well-curated. Worth the side trip from Pittsburgh if you like American art from all periods.
This little local museum is a hidden gem for our community!! Staff member, Joan, is a delight!!
Excellent art museum with a beautiful new building! I really enjoyed the visit, the museums atmosphere and explore, have fun, take pictures philosophy. Was pleasantly surprised by the small but excellent contemporary selection.
How do I count the ways this place is fabulous?! Beautiful, modern new building; incredible exhibits, fantastic gift shop, wonderful events. I love everything about it, which is why we support it. Go check it out!
A wonderful FREE museum!
We love it here. The classes are fantastic
Beautiful artwork. Great place to spend the afternoon!
Nice
The museum is most definitely worth your time, theres no doubt about it. The staff - from the customer service desk to the gallery attendants - were all very, very nice. The entirety of the museums main galleries are on the second floor, the collections ranging from Contemporary, Folk Art, and 19th/20th Century. With lots of delightful and thought provoking pieces (I caught The Art of Movement exhibit and thought it incredible, mind-boggling, and amazing), there is something here for everyone, and everyone will find something here to like. The only issue I had was with the Southwestern Pennsylvania room, as overwhelmingly beautiful as it is, there is simply no way to enjoy art when displayed 20 feet over your head.Allow at least 90-120 minutes to enjoy the museum. Theres a very fine gift shop that also has a limited choice of small beverages and snacks, but no other food, so eat before coming.Im glad I took the time to come here.
We went on a Free Pop up art event and took our grandson, age 8 years old. He had a great time! Well be back!
I love doing the Scavenger hunt at the Westmoreland museum it is a lot of fun.
Nice experience for the family
They have great interactive experiences that pair well with the exhibits on display.
Nice museum.
They have a variety of art. They bring in new shows every 3 or 4 months. I heard they are doing Monet and Renoir in May... My favorites.
A great place to spend an afternoon. They have free family days once a month.
Great place, great time.
Really nice and nice people
Very nice art museum. Have chairs in certain places to sit and ponder the artwork.
