Carts were awful, nothing like getting your hand held while driving it.... course was nice but not worth the $56 per person we had to pay. Id rather go somewhere cheaper for the same quality of course and better carts.
The golf course is in excellent condition. They just rolled the greens and they putted as true as I have seen them since early spring. Its always challenging, but fun. A great golf course with a great staff!
Planes, Trains and Automobiles and a beautiful setting on Thornapple River we make our way out to play Thornapple Pointe at least a couple times a year. Course is in great shape, and the layout is a lot of fun to play with lots of tee boxes it also allows for golfers of lots of skills to have fun and enjoy. We played in July and staff was friendly, good food at the turn dogs, brats, pulled pork, wraps and more. We will be back.
Beautiful golf course but very noisy from planes and automobiles. Nice clubhouse and outdoor area for food and drinks. The cart GPS is very annoying. It stops your cart quite a ways from green, not the normal distance.
This is a beautiful course with amazing views of the Thornapple river. The burgers and brats were the best I ever had at a golf course. The manager/owner at the golf shop was super nice and helpful. So sad this course is 2 and a half hours from where we live. We would be here all the time! Such an amazing experience!
Absolutely beautiful course. Very well maintained and manicured. The greens take some getting used to because of how fast they are but the challenge is a welcome one. Definitely will play this course many more time over.
Nicely maintained golf course. Terrible location! Next to airport, highways & train tracks! Very noisy! Guy working in the pro shop not very friendly.
The course is beautiful and immaculately kept, however I have never in my life dealt with a more rude starter/ranger. We had a group of 5, so we booked 2 tee times right next to each other. We teed off separate per instruction. We met up on hole 3 and let our friends play right up on us. The ranger came up to us on the green and flipped out on us. Insinuated that we were unintelligent, told us he couldnt believe that we would do such a thing, raised his voice, and accused of of slowing play. There were people playing slow in front of us and we literally couldnt tee of on the hole he wanted us to progress to. I have never been so rudely talked to at a golf course and honestly it ruined my time. All he had to do was ask us to split and ask us to please not do that and that would have been the end of it. Instead we were disrespected and shouted at. As beautiful as this course is, there are 100 other courses I can go to and I will never be back as long as this guy is working here.
Fantastic consistent greens, great course layout, great views. All-around great course in Grand Rapids.
Played this track last week and have another tee time on Sunday. The greens this year are IMMACULATE! Wonderfully kept and such a blast to play. Definitely on a must play list in West Michigan.
Thornapple Pointe is a well maintained and challenging golf course. In my opinion, its the best public course in GR. However, I played it this past Saturday and it was incredibly slow. We were on pace for a 5.5 hour round because they put way too many groups on the tee sheet. I called the club house on hole #11 (3.25 hours into my round) and they were not willing to offer any sort of future credit. They just said sorry its a slow day. It was very disappointing.
Course is beautiful, played in a scramble there and somehow a woman snuck past the ranger and was allowed to partake in the event. Other than that it was terrific
Enjoyable track. Very fair. Planes, trains and automobiles!
Great course - really cool layout, great shape, greens are beautiful!
Just had our son’s couple wedding shower, Ashley Graven did a great job on the Brunch buffet! Everyone enjoy the day, highly recommend Thornapple Pointe Golf Club of any new events in the future. Thank you!
Beautiful course with quite a bit of difficulty. The staff has been friendly during all of my visits. Its high on my list for public tracks in West Michigan.
Great course. I enjoy the views of the thornapple river while playing. I also like how you can see airplanes landing(because it’s close to GR airport) ! I’ve had a couple issues with a starter trying to yell at our group but other than that great spot to golf with your friends
I like the course but pace of play is an issue every time I play there. Last time I was there I left after hole 14 because at the pace we were playing at it would have been over 5 hours. Not a ranger in sight.
Perfect place for wedding receptions!
Not the best course Ive ever played but a very fun one lose to home. Challenging enough for the experienced golfer and fun enough for a 1 time a year type golfer. The carts are in very good condition and the course is very well maintained. If you havent ayed this course you should give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
Awesome area of town!
Great facility to host an outing! The staff was very accommodating and efficient. The facility is perfect for outings with a large gathering place for your group after your round with sandwiches and brats/dogs plus a full bar to enjoy. The view from the gathering area is magnificent, raised a level from the course for beautiful views of several holes. Would definitely return; thank you Thornapple Pointe for making our event a big success!
Beautiful course, fun to play. Negative was the cart app kept telling us we were falling behind. We were playing in an outing, and no one was behind us waiting. And the ranger came out and very nicely asked us to pick up pace of play. We felt a little picked on.
A beautiful spacious area. Very tranquil. We did some kayaking on the lake. A great place for a family picnic. Its also dog friendly.
Great course and value
Great course... and I took a playing lesson with Brian & he really is a great instructor. To quote a movie icon, Ill be back.
Beautiful scenery, nice clean manicured course and very fun to play. Played with a foursome had a decent round really enjoyed playing this course
Absolutly gorgeous course. The course was in superb condition. Great staff, great play. Pace was good also. A little pricey but worth it. The course
Great course! We played this course Fathers Day weekend and, despite the rain, the course was in great shape. The staff was friendly and despite my poor golfing we had a great time.
Beautiful well kept course.
Our company has an outing here every year. They are very accommodating and it is always a great time. Good food and awesome staff.
Beautiful little place! Could have cleaner bathrooms.
I’ve been here a few times and the course is so pretty. I’ve been with my company and it’s always fun except for this last time. The staff was constantly rushing us but you can only go so fast when someone is in front of you still playing. Staff was constantly bothering us and would sit in their karts and watch our group golf, made it hard to enjoy our time there.
Amazing. Front counter service was bit snippy.
Planes, trains and automobiles ( with the occasional boat), but dont let the nickname scare you away. Course is always in great shape and a decent value. My only knock is the nagging from the GPS system on the carts. Seems a bit unnecessary, but its also a minor issue and likely just a personal peeve.
Its a nice course, if a little strange. The train rolling through was entertaining, the planes eventually faded into the background, and you can barely hear the cars on the highway. The course itself is actually pretty good, not too challenging and a lot of fun.
Planes, trains and automobiles. Lots of distractions at this course. Not enough to throw your game though. Nice, well kept golf course. Would play again.
Wanted to try a different golf course for a change and it had been 15 yrs since playing here so I went back to try it again and that was a mistake. I was a single and ready to play and was told there was a group in front of me that I had to wait for as they were at the driving range. After 10 min’s they showed up and teed off. While on the tee they looked back and saw me waiting on them and I thought they were going to offer to let me a faster playing single play through but that didn’t happen. When I moved to the tee box I saw the 3 of them in the tall grass about 300 out looking for a golf ball which they preceded to spend 10 mins looking for while I waited and watched. They finally gave up and took a drop while the other 2 went to their balls in the fairway that they should have played before helping the other guy look for his ball. There wasn’t ever a wait for anyone in front of them yet they averaged 15-20 mins a hole! The GPS systems on the carts were programmed to put the cart in (crawl mode) because the course said the ground was wet even though it hadn’t rained in 3 days. Of course these 3 idiots were driving off the paths and then it would take 3-5 mins to work back to the cart paths for normal speed again. This repeated itself on every hole with these idiots that had no golf etiquette whatsoever. I teed off at 7:10 and at 9:00 I called it quits as we only played 6 holes in 2 hrs!!!! If you like super slow play with golfers that don’t know what golf etiquette is then this is the place for you. But if not then choose one of the many other fine courses in the area such as LE Kauphman and Quail Ridge and you will be happy that you did. I will not be back again that’s for sure and it’s to bad because it’s a nice layout, just poorly run with no Rangers roaming the course keeping the pace of play moving.
Great practice area. I have not played the course though. It is noisy since its in the flight path to the airport and sought off I96
First time playing Thornapple Pointe....gorgeous track, well maintained. You have to play this course!!
Beautiful place. A family member had their wedding and reception here. There could have been a little more help for the setup of it all but all in all great place to golf and not a horrible place for events.
This is a tough but Fair Golf Course. Each hole is interesting. Some water and number of traps. It will require you to place the ball in position for your next shot. They have GPS on the carts. The Pro Shop will have what you need if you forget something. The beer was cold.
Quite literally the best course in the Grand Rapids area. So much fun, so playable, great greens, lots of elevation and right off the river! You won’t be disappointed.
Such a beautiful golf course....great condition.
One of my favorite places to play.
Great place. Staff is friendly and helpfulSimulators are realistic
Great course, always well maintained. Friendly staff would rate it among my top 5 courses in Grand Rapids.
Surprisingly great course conditions for early spring. Will golf here again.
Love this golf course... Planes, Trains and automobiles can be seen and enjoyed from every corner. One time the jet wash from a 737 aided me in making a hole in one. Seriously... super well groomed, challenging and a very professional staff. Go there.
Great golf course. One of the only places in the area with GPS on the carts. Always in great condition, lots of tough holes. Just watch out for the wind!
Today was my first time at Thornapple Pointe. Had a foursome playing virtual the new virtual golf they have. I believe there are 4 standard screens and 2 pano screens. The standard screens are cool with picture in picture set up so you can watch tv (nfl playoffs) while playing. The 2 panorama are really nice. It feels like you are on the course. This was my first experience playing virtual and I can say it was a very good one. The staff is friendly and the good was really good. They have a full menu and a full bar. I would highly recommend to others.
This is a lovely public course in a beautiful setting. Nice array of holes and Hazards. Good condition.
Wonderful course. Well kept. Very scenic holes along the Thornapple River. Challenging fairways. Golf carts have GPS built in that provides your yardage.
We had an after-work social hour and they did a great job
Son had a great day golfing
Great golf course!
Trains, planes, and automobiles! (And boats). All add distractions to this very nice course. But knowing in advance adds to the fun.
Beautiful course and slick greens
A great place to spend 3 or 4 hours. Fun course.
Fun golf course, greens were well maintained. Price is great for fall...can be challenging at times.
Beautiful course in great shape. Fairly open, but not a pushover. I would definitely play here again.
Course is in excellent shape! Food selection very high quality! GREAT event management!
Great staff, course is very well maintained . Would be 5 star if pace of play was better.
Breath taking! One of the best courses in GR. Bit pricey..but you have to expect that.
Course is in nice shape as usual.
Course is in great shape and pace of play was very good no waiting on tee boxes.
Very well maintained course. Had a wonderful time playing there this morning.
Have only been there for the virtual golf. It takes some getting used to, but then is pretty neat.
Very nice course
Beautiful golf course. Was in need some some maintenance, but they were working on it. Planes, trains, and automobiles are seen on and around this course, so very interesting backdrops. Nice clubhouse and they are building a new outdoor bar area
My golf game all that strong, but it is a nice course.
Worst Michigan golf experience ever! We were a group of average players and the group following filed a complaint that we were too slow, which sent the Golf Ranger out to us during play. We were told we were too slow and needed to pick up the pace. As for the GPS Carts, I dont need someone monitoring how fast Im playing and constantly sending me messages. Overall, the staff was rude and their golf ranger was a complete ass. I suggest the staff should visit the Loon Golf Course or Treetops Resort to see how a golf course should be managed....
Beautiful golf course that is well maintained. Challenging and fun!
Worst golf experience eeeevvvveeerrrr. We waited on a group in front of us for the first 9. But the group had a young boy. The future golfers of this course. Needless to say we didnt care. However the golf ranger was all over us all day to speed up play. Every hole he waited for us and the group in front of us. Even though we were the ones waiting we had to deal with their ranger. Schedule your Fathers Day outing else where.
Great entertaining golf course
Great public course in the Grand Rapids area. Well maintained and challenging enough for any level of golfer
I was there a couple weeks ago for an outing, they had this guy driving around yelling at the players, being rude and clapping his hands at people to hurry up.I play 2-3x per week in different course throughout west michigan and I can honestly say that Ive never been disappointed like I was here.
Nice qnd well kept park. Wished there were a splash pad here...
Played from the white tees (6400 yds) and the course kicked my butt. Would like to play it again when my game improves.
Great course with an outstanding staff. A great GR golf option
Nice course with some challenging water holes. Very pretty landscape
Awesome course. Great greens
Planes, trains, and automobiles....and a river.
Great course. Fast greens are always well manicured and green. Good putting area and a welcoming and warm staff.
This is a giant park with ball fields, an off leash dog area, playground equipment, and lots of covered picnic areas. Its one of the nicest parks Ive seen.
Spectacular course
The GPS IS VERY WORTH WHILE. GREAT GOLF COURSE IN VERY NICE SHAPE FOR EARLY GOLF.
Great condition for the number of rounds played. Need more than 2 ball washers.
Great track!
Pretty pricey!! Carts are the worst!
The course is in fantastic shape and is one of the more challenging courses in the GR area, highly recommended.
Was there for a wedding. Great food and nice view of the course.
Very nice place! Golfing in January is awesome!
Quality course. Well groomed. Pace of play is never a problem.
Top notch facility. Not abnormal bar beer costs, but $24 for a six of All Day to go is just crazy.
