We love hiking here in the morning before the day heats up. We were visiting family recently and decided to go on a weekday. It wasn’t busy at all. The trails are marked but I would use their map to make sure you make the right turns based on the trail you want to stick to. The woman who was working at the booth was friendly and helpful.

Estrella Mountain Regional Park is a wealth of information about the surrounding flora and fauna, as well as the plans to heal the Gila, Salt, and Agua Fria rivers. You can picnic, ride bikes or horses, get fit with guided hikes, or go on your own on trails from easy, moderate, and difficult.

Really nice just be prepared to pay for entrance. $7 per car load. Not expensive, and so many trails to choose from. I’m definitely going back. Their hiking map though is not for the inexperienced.

I brought my parents to join the full moon hike. It was a guided hike. A good group of people showed up. Amanda led us through and she would stop and tell us facts about the park, its wildlife and plants. You could tell she cared about what she does. The hike was 2 miles long and about 2 hours- although it felt much shorter. Amanda and her four helpers were great! Both, my parents and I, loved the hike.

Beautiful park comprising more than 19,000 acres with a variety of well-marked trails suitable for all levels. Activities include: hiking, trail-running, mountain biking, picnicking in dedicated reservable ramadas, camping, equestrian. Nice visitor center with very friendly staff. Restrooms, water at visitor center and equestrian staging area. Includes a section of the Maricopa Trail. $2 entry if on foot or bike; $7 per car. Day use except for the camping area, which currently is only available at the equestrian center. Gem of a park!

This is a beautiful hiking area with lots of scenic views in every direction. Lots of variety for the trails. Not much elevation difference, so not a lot of steep climbs. Very child friendly and pet friendly. We went on Thanksgiving so it was very open with just a few people. Great place to enjoy outdoors without many people. It cost 6 dollars to enter, but happy to support this place. Very detailed maps and brochures are available. There is also a place where you can go horseback riding, but have not tried it yet.

This was my 3rd time going on the baseline trail. Im already aware of the many trails Estrella has to offer and one of the spots that are very popular with the Star Tower is near. They have great visitor center if you want to know more about the animals in the area. The trails range in difficulty. From most of the trails you have a great view looking out to Phoenix, Goodyear and Avondale.

After a long day of looking for a nice and somewhat quiet place to have lunch and play with our drone, we remembered that there was a lovely state park with trees and hiking trails just minutes from home. Dont know why it was so empty on a beautiful October Saturday but, lucky us! Very peaceful and plenty of room to play with our drone.

There are all types of trails here. When we had our kids, wed even take a stroller out on the Gila trail, which is fairly flat and round. There are camping sites and a fun playground for the kids. Not a fan of paying 6 bucks to get in, but not much you can do about that. Worth it if its a once-in-a-while type thing.

My 11-year-old son and I were here early on a Saturday morning for the Cactus Flower 6k race (part of a trail series). We were only in town for a few days and managed to find this race on the calendar. The park itself is pretty plain. The cost to get in ($5 or $6?) seems peculiar to me, since I dont know what the return was on my investment. Maybe thats just how the parks in Arizona/Phoenix work? Either that or Im spoiled by all of the free parks in the midwest. We ran on a very challenging course: lots of hills, sand gravel and so forth.Hitting the trails for a long hike or something? Bring lots of water and snacks. Theres not much in the way of shade or anything out there. :)
